I have dreams about these candied yams. The fact that I came here twice specifically for the yams. You might not see it on the menu, but they do have it. You just have to say candied yams or candied sweet potatoes. You have to eat it and dip it in cold water because this is so hot. The server will watch you eat your first bite because he wants to make sure you dip it in the cold water first. Because it's caramelized the potatoes keep the eternal hot heat. They don't wanna be liable if you burn your tongue. The sugar does get a little hard towards the end and get stuck on the plate, but it's delicious. Honestly, if I wasn't such a foodie, I would only get the yams. The way my friend and I were fighting over who got to take the leftover yams. We ended up sharing. Haha They do have really good kebab options . I personally like the beef the most. I think it really holds the flavor really well. I will say their seasoning is more on the cumin side and not spicy at all. I want it to be both spicy and have that cumin flavor. I think I brought my own seasoning. The second time I came, because it was just not spicy. To me at least I'm slightly a spice addict. So do with that information as you will. I don't think I would order the green beans again, the flavor of the green beans was actually really good but that red sauce on top of it was not it. It was kind of like a knock off Korean gochujang paste. And it was really weird. They only put it on one side of the green beans however that played well in our favor because we liked the part without the sauce. The cucumbers were good as well, but I had to add lots of chili oil to it. Anyways, I would definitely come here if you're looking to try Chinese barbecue kebabs for the first time. They do have other food options that can fill you up so you you're not spending as much money on the kebabs. Kinda dry. - Squid tentacles 7/10. The only one that didn't come on a skewer, it did come with scissors so we can cut it up though. - Mushroom wrapped with pork belly: 10/10. This was the best kabob in my opinion. They use enoki, which are one of my favorite mushrooms and it paired well with the pork belly. - Chicken heart (I don't eat these, eating buddy got it...so can't rate) Other dishes: - Hot & numbing beef spicy pot: 4/10. Despite the name, unfortunately it was not spicy or numbing at all. The star of the dish, the beef, was just very lacking. I took it home and had to add more flavor and seasoning to make it taste good. However, I did enjoy the lotus root and potatoes in it. - Steamed pork buns: 6/10. Randomly picked this place on a Monday night because most of the other kabob places were closed. I'm glad for that. This place was a hell of a find for us. The food was so flavorful and delicious. The must have is the their green beans plate. Had the beef and lamb kabobs and they were delicious. Also, tried the lamb ribs plate. I've never had lamb ribs so flavorful. They weren't falling off the bones but they were still yummy. Oh and don't eat the red peppers on the plate. I can handle most hot foods or so I thought. Kabobs House is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Prior to the pandemic, they would be open late at night and it'd still be extremely busy around 12 AM! I'm not sure if they're doing dine in at the moment as I've only ordered take out the past few times I'm here. Their skewers aren't the largest, but they are cheap and delicious (about a $1 each for the meat ones). My boyfriend and I got one of the hot & numbing spicy dry pots on a whim and I am so glad we did because it's become one of our favorite dishes. My family stopped in here after my graduation ceremony upon suggestion from my brother's friend who came with us. I can't remember everything we ordered, but it was mostly kabobs. They were all so flavorful. The spices they use are delicious and pretty classic for Chinese skewers. I saw them through the window cooking the skewers on the charcoal grill. My favorite were the beef, sausage (the ones that aren't made from meat), and the eggplant (not a kabob). It was my first time trying a couple other things I wouldn't have tried otherwise (beef tendon, parts of the heart). The cucumbers and garlic were nice as a palate cleanser and my family really liked the fried Chinese pancake and cabbage. They were out of a couple items due to inventory; we got the pork dumplings instead of the ones with shrimp...you could tell the skins and filling were handmade. Came to kabobs house on a random weekday and immediately I could tell based on reviews that this is more of a night time spot, because I was the only customer there until I was leaving, where another guy showed up. Got the following kabobs: Beef - $1 Beef tenderloin ball - $1.50 Chicken - $1 QinQin sausage - $2 Pork rib - $2.50 Also got jasmine tea - $2.50 All of the kabobs minus the pork rib came in segmented pieces per each kabob. I generally enjoyed the flavor of all of the kabobs, although other kabob stores I've been to were a little better to me than what I tried here. My favorite was probably the beef tenderloin and least favorite was the pork rib, which came out dry. One thing about the kabob skewers were they all were metal, so I actually had to pay attention and be careful when I pulled meat off the skewer with my teeth. Not a ding to kabobs house. Just an FYI. Located in the shopping center, anchored by Kroger, kabobs is right next door to quickly, and parking is not a problem at all. There's also multiple exits onto either Steve Reynolds or old norcross road, so getting in and out isn't so bad either. I was hesitant to try this place after reading some of the reviews on here but after seeing that this was the only place open around 12am for an actual meal my friend and I decided to try it out. This place should definitely be rated higher than what it's at right now. From the outside and the inside this place does not look like much and I understand why people would just glance at it and make an assumption that the food here might not be worth it. There's not much to rave about the decor as it looks like any regular late night asian restaurant. The service here is good though. They had about 3 servers handling about 10 or so customers at 12am so when we got there we were attended to fairly quickly and they helped walk us through their menu and what the most popular kabobs were. The kabobs here are actually a lot better than what I was expecting for the price. Some of them were as cheap as $1.50 for about 4 pieces on one stick so we ordered about 15 kabobs. it took about 10min for all our kabobs to be ready and they were all good. Nothing outstanding but for about $1.50 for each one we were not gonna complain at all. My favorites were definitely the beef, shrimp, and pork belly with mushroom. They each have some small spice sprinkled on them so that after continuously eating one after the other your tongue begins to feel it. Kabobs house definitely blew my low expectations out the water. Anyways, I've been a huge fan of Chinese kabob almost all my life. So my expectation was relatively high. I ordered classic lamb kabob and it's fairly good. Tips for you, if it's your first time to try Chinese kabob, nothing conveys the taste better than the lamb kabob. It's not too dry nor mushy. It may lacks some flavor but once I added some cumin it's all good. Cumin is the key for Chinese kabob! I also ordered eggplant and chive and they were both excellent especially the eggplant. The string bean was a big disappointment. It's too tough to chew. Last but not the least, the spicy broth was just bad. It's basically not spicy at all. The ingredients lacked life in the soup with no flavor. In general, it's just an average kabob place which would die with no doubt if opened in china. I'd give the food 3 star, 1 star additional for having such a place in USA (it's a good place to hang out and grab some snack and beer after all). I usually grab a tea from next door before heading over here; it's a perfect combination with kabobs. They offer beer on tap (not sure what kind) and some Japanese beers and bottled teas I believe. Warning: I love Lamb Kabobs so much! This review is biased. So the trend is... Most people went to Quickly and see this new place next door, and the reaction is "Yes, finally a Chinese Kabobs place on Pleasant Hill/Old Norcross!" I was glad like everyone else. Now I don't need to go to Kochi Maru and suffer from stomach ache the next day anymore. This restaurant opened in February 2015 and is owned by a Northeastern China native. I talked to him and ask if he is keeping his promise and open until 2am every day, and he said yes. I am going to visit him at 1am some day this April. Alright, here comes my biased food review. - Kabobs: I ordered Lamb, Lamb Kidney, Lamb Tendon, and Beef. I started with Lamb first of course. Oh my. Just like what I used to have in China. Meat was just right with right tenderness and right temperature. Next is Lamb Tendon, just right as well and chewy. Then Beef, but I had too much Lamb so I tasted the beef as lamb. Told you I am biased. Lamb Kidney was the highlight of the meal. At $3, a lot of you would be hesitant to order such a Fear Factor kabob, but if you like other organs, this Lamb Kidney will bomb you. Given that you eat it right away as the owner brings it to you, the crispy-outside juciy-inside kidney is just like eating the fish in the fish-and-chips basket. Spread some extra cumin and spicy powder on the kidney (and all other meats) to make it even more exotic. - Lamb Dumpings: According to the owner, all dumplings are handmade on premise. The 12-piece Lamb Dumpling dish is above standard. Dumplings are juicy, and the skin is at the right thickness. You can easily tell the difference between this and those Great Wall packaged ones. My tip for you is ask the owner for Black Vinegar. It's a Northern China thing. - Braised Pork Belly over Rice: At $10.95, this is the one dish you can forget and focus on the Kabobs, unless you are really craving for rice dishes. Although the Pork Belly tastes like home and good, the serving is not quite enough for a big-eater like me. I did say big-eater didn't I, so I will rather get 11 $1 Lamb Kabobs. Staffing could be a costly concern, as I only see the owner working by himself during busy hours on the weekend. And the owner is patiently waiting for the alcohol license to arrive. A new kabobs place has opened in Duluth and it's definitely worth a try! (Located right next door to quickly) This was my first time eating here. For kabobs me and my friend ordered the lamb, chicken, chicken gizzard, chicken heart, squid, and mushroom wrapped with pork belly. For actual dishes we got the chicken spicy pot and the hot pot with tofu. Kabobs: The lamb, chicken, and mushroom/pork belly sticks were my favorite out of the bunch (and probably what I would recommend for first timers). The squid one was my friends fav. All of the kabobs are cooked fresh to order over a coal grill thingy and seasoned with aromatic spices. They taste best hot! So if they get cold just ask and the chefs will happily reheat them for you :) Fyi: They all came with a little bit of spice seasoning on them. Dishes: The chicken spicy pot has chicken pieces that taste a bit like the popular nuggets sold next door at quickly except it's cooked with onions/peppers and other spices that adds more flavor. The chicken is really good but I could do without all the other stuff it's cooked with. I suppose that's where the flavor comes from though. I really enjoyed the hot pot with tofu though! The soup was perfect to counteract with the spice from the kabobs cause I'm kinda a wimp with spicy. The broth had a good flavor and it was really filling with all the tofu, cabbage and clear noodles inside. Oh, I also love the seaweed salad that comes as a side dish! Overall it was a great experience. I like that you can see the chefs cooking your food through a clear glass and the interior design of the restaurant is really cute and modern.
