Let me start by telling you what this is and what it's not. It's certainly not traditional. The restaurant is has two Venezuelan chefs and what they excel at is creating Japanese fusion that works well. The restaurant is small and clean. I loved the vegetable roll and my friend loved the Miami roll. Thai donuts were baby elephant ear like with powdered sugar. No complaints. While the menu is limited for vegetarians, those who can eat fish will have a blast in here. Parking is an issue here as Giralda has minimal spaces that aren't for the valets. The decor and the music in this place make it feel fun and modern. Worth noting: chef doesn't wear gloves to prepare food which may not give a good impression. You can have any flavour of ice tea that you want as long as it's green tea, let's change that if possible. All around something fun, new and different. I'm calling this one fusiontastic. read more

Food was ok but they sent a chicken teriyaki and it looks as if walnut dust, which is mentioned on other dishes, was sprinkled on top as a garnish. My son is very allergic to tree nuts and immediately started feeling a reaction coming on from the smallest bite. We tried to call the restaurant multiple times to confirm the ingredients, but they did not answer. This completely ruined our dinner and sent my son into a panic. They do not warn you on the menu that nuts could have been added to the food. This is very dangerous and irresponsible of this restaurant. People can die from reactions to food allergies and it can cause anaphylactic shock. Please be warned about this practice at this restaurant. They MUST warn customers that they sprinkle walnuts or other common allergens on the food. read more

I have been eating at and ordering from Kae Sushi for the last year and I simply cannot get enough. It's hard not to inhale their food once it's in front of me. You can taste and FEEL how clean and fresh their fish is with every bite. Their hamachi is like butter and I HIGHLY recommend their Trio Sashimi roll, their ceviche bites, and their butter lobster roll. I have digestive issues so I tend to stick to their lighter dishes. I went in with a Groupon this weekend and I've gotta say, I was not disappointed at all. We asked the waiter for roll suggestions because we were having trouble deciding between all the delicious options. He suggested the HoneyMoon and a jalapeño one. Personally, I would've gone with the jalapeño but my girlfriend isn't great with spice so we chose the HoneyMoon and the Volcano one we'd already decided on. By accident, the waiter put in the two he suggested. When it came we tried it, slightly confused and then asked. They apologized and took it away to get the right one. BUT it was so damn good we literally stopped her and took it back and just got all 3. They were all so good and the jalapeño one wound up being our favorite. The only reason we rate 4 stars instead of 5 was because the shrimp shumai we got to start were cold and there was a family of screaming kids next to us the entire time and it was unenjoyable. But overall, the food is excellent, the waiter gave great recommendations and we were so full we had to bring sushi home. Great place to eat quality sushi. The rolls are pricey, but the fish to rice ratio is PERFECT like favors towards way less rice than fish. I was very impressed because most places use way too much rice. Rolls are small and overpriced for the amount of actual sushi you get. Thin sliced salmon in the JB roll that you can barely taste. The name has changed from Ikura to KAE, it is one of many restaurants on Giralda that is blocked off east of Ponce. I don't believe it will survive amongst the competition from all the surrounding restaurants. The service is so-so, the rolls are fair the signature ones even aren't worth a return trip from me. Also any Groupon or yelp discounts are under Ikura and KAE will not honor them. The night we went there was one party of 6 adults and 2 kids.
