I was never a big fan of Greek food, but I'm in love with their Chicago Style Gyro with a side order of Spanakopita. Our whole office enjoys their food, but we've only been there for lunch. Service is great and fast, but there generally is a lot of people. The staff tries to remember you, so it's always a warm and friendly place. Faxing in your order saves a bunch of time. I have been enjoying Cafe Neo since before the great remodel when they were a lunch bar and a couple of postage stamp sized tables. My wife and I were there last night for one of the most wonderful dinners. The atmosphere and ambiance is fair, clean and cheerful, but not overly fancy. The attire is mixed leaning toward casual, and the food is OUTSTANDING! We started with a calamari appetizer that featured some of the freshest, most tender and perfectly cooked calamari that I think I have ever had - covered with just a hint of lightly crisp "breading". I put that in quotes because if you think that this is your typical thick armor coat of bread-like stuff, you couldn't be further from the truth, it was light, just a touch of crisp and delightful. Stepping away from the Gyros for a change, I had the braised pork with fennel potatoes and veggies. This started with my avgolemono soup, which was very light and refreshing with just a touch of lemon rather than the thick gloppy stuff that is all too common. My wife's Greek salad also was very fresh with crisp veggies and a very nice fresh feta dressing. My pork dinner was presented as nicely as any "Fancy" restaurant I have ever been in! The fresh hot veggies seasoned with herbs and a touch of olive oil, crisply tender, not over cooked and still hot. (I cook a lot, and this is not easy to do...) The fennel potatoes were heaven - not overpowering and a perfect compliment to the tender succulent pork. This was served with a dipping sauce made from the pan juices and a bit of bleu cheese. The whole plate was lightly drizzled with a thick and rich aged balsamic syrup that tied everything together beautifully. My wife had the Chicken Souvlaki dinner with the same effect - fresh, perfectly seasoned and cooked, artistically presented at perfect serving temperatures. We have lived in New York and L.A., we both love to cook and love to eat out and have adventures with food and restaurants. You will have to go far and work hard to beat a meal like we had and for $50 including appetizer, coffee and "just right" sized "just a touch of sweet" deserts, Cafe Neo puts a lot of the more "exclusive" dining spots in the Seattle area to shame. When you combine this with the cheerful and skilled service that we received from our waitress Livia, it adds up to an absolutely delightful experience that I VERY highly recommend. read more

OMG I just found out they have GLUTEN FREE PITA for their gyros. Holy moly. Soooo dang good. I can't promise that their gyro meat is gluten free, most gyro meat has some wheat in it, but if you are gluten sensitive but not allergic? This is a wonderful change of pace! My daughter always gets the calamari gyro which she LOVES and we both love the greek fries (ask for crispy) with the feta and 'special sauce'. Absolutely consistent food. My ONE complaint is that I asked one of the waiters on the floor if an item was gluten free. I was almost certain it was NOT. He didn't even know what gluten was... *ugh*. He said 'no, it is gluten free'. I ate another bite and I looked more closely and realized it had orzo in it. I asked another waitress and she confirmed it had orzo in it! I told my actual waiter about the situation and he immediately went and spoke to the other guy. He also comped me a free no 'gluten' dessert. So, while I am gluten sensitive (I break out if I eat too much wheat), it all turned out 'okay' and I am hoping that they will be more aware in the future. I have a friend who carries an epi-pen because she is so allergic to wheat! That aside, once again this restaurant wins 5 stars. Now, go train your staff what 'gluten' is and why it can be so dangerous for some people! read more

Jonesin' for a gyro, I stopped at the newly remodeled kafe neo to get a fix. The menu items looked good and they were doing a brisk business but the wait was less than 5 minutes to get our food. The gyro was bland without the bite of lamb/onion/garlic that I'm used to. There was too much lettuce on it and the meat was dry. My greek salad had one olive and was basically iceberg w/ a bland tzatziki sauce. The biggest let dowm was the greek fries. I never had them before and I was amped because they sounded really good with feta and spices. The seasoning was good but the fries tasted like ass. can't recommend anything I had today. read more

Not only do they have good food (delicious fries; awesome lentil soup, lots of vegetarian options like the Vegan wrap, etc.), but they also have amazing customer service. Since I work nearby, we get a company discount; our orders are often ready soon after we sit down; and I've even had my order get to my table before I could find a seat; They take great care of us every time we're there; asking if everything tastes ok, and clearing our plates away when we're finished; saying goodbye as we leave; etc. read more

We eat at Kafe Neo about once a month or so. The food itself is consistently good, and I like that they have plenty of vegetarian options. Recently though, the prices have gone up. Over the years they have definitely tried to change the image of this place to make it more upscale, but it doesn't seem the quality of the food has followed. Up in Washington on a business trip and sort of randomly picked this place (Greek sounded good for some reason, and this is where Yelp took me). One heck of a find. It shares a parking lot with some strange bar with lots of neon, so I wasn't sure what to think. But when I walked in, it smelled great. The appetizer (mezedes) menu was beyond fantastic. In fact, next time I come here, I may just order from the mezedes menu. Had an incredible Saganaki (pan fried sheep's milk cheese) that was a perfect 10. Other food was excellent (lamb Souvlaki). I also liked the fact that the food was rather simple (focus was on the food, not on sides and sauces). Why I don't like this place - it used to feel too sterile and then they remodeled. Now feels warmer, but the staff is still rude. I think it's the owners that emit the cold vibes. Last time I stopped, I wanted a lamb souvlaki sandwich to go. It appears they don't have souvlaki, but chunky gyro meat. I was perplexed. Instead of feta, there was feta sauce. And more rude. The sandwich made my stomach upset. The baklava is usually good, but I don't intend to stop while rolling south on 99 any longer. read more

Salad was bland, main course (Souvlaka) was underwhelming, both in taste and proportion. That alone gets it a 2 star...competition is high along 99...but when you factor in the price it goes down to 1. For the 17 bucks total i ended up paying (with a very modest tip) I could have eaten at the mediterraen kitchen in Kirkland for two days straight, and it would have actually tasted like something. This meal was small enough that I had to get another to end the day. Again, the restaurant itself and the presentation of the food is fine, but I'm not paying for a museum, I'm paying for food and I expect to be fed. The only way this could have been worse was if the restaurant seemed dirty somehow, and honestly I'd rather have it be dirty if it meant it was either cheaper, more filling or tastier. Came here with a couple of girlfriends who recommended the place. I had a veggie Greek salad with falafel. The salad had romaine, green peppers, red onion, tomato, cucumber, kalamata olives(which I requested they hold, since I don't like them, they were still in the salad, but did not detract from the salad except for having to eat around them), feta, and falafel. Super fresh veggies, nothing limp or brown. The falafel was light and flavorful, not too greasy but a nice crunch on the outside. It was a nice big salad, left me full and the only things left on my plate were the olives, which is great because I am pregnant and hungry all the time. I would definitely eat here again and look forward to trying their veggie gyros, which my friend had and it looked great. read more

I love the Greek Fries with the special sauce. Its my favorite thing on the menu. We went for dinner the other day. Most of us ordered the Gyro. The waitress asked us if wed like greek fries or regular. Greek of course. But she failed to mention that it was EXTRA. Its not a big deal, it wasn't that much, but it seemed sneaky and underhanded.
