Gosh this place is dangerous!!! Especially since I live so close. Hands down, my go-to coffee place downtown! Always quick & reliable service, serving up delicious drinks. I usually stick to iced lattes, but they offer a variety of other drinks. Think coffees/lattes/teas. I've somehow never had any of the food (resisting their pasties on the county is a VERY hard thing to do), but have heard their everything bagels hit the spot every time. I think it's a great place to get some work done or catch up with a friend. Keep in mind, it is pretty quiet in there during the day. During the summer, I love that they open the doors, which adds to their cool and quirky vibe. I will warn though sometimes it gets a little warm in there! If you haven't been there before, be aware, it is a little off-the-beaten path on Fulton Street. Do yourself a favor, and walk the few short blocks from Mass Ave. You certainly won't regret it! Parking also is a bit of an challenge. From what I can tell, most people park across the street using Circa's spots. I've never seen anyone towed from there (during the day), but just be aware when you plan your visit! read more

Kaffeine Coffee is hidden in the wedge shaped neighborhood between Mass Avenue and the I-65/I-70. The shop has a small sign out front and a few parking spaces in front, but other than that, you have to find a spot where street parking is allowed. I was lucky and got a spot directly in front, so I entered the shop mid-morning. The shop is rather dimly lit with strong backlighting from the windows. The interior has some nice decor, using books and giant world mural as the most noticeable. The place was pretty full, so I got my order to go: A Kaffeine special blend coffee (12 oz was my size) and a couple muffins. They have a list of all the coffee options on a small clipboard along the right hand wall (near where the napkins, creamer, sweeteners are.) They have a lot of flavors, so there should be something for about anyone who likes coffee. The pastries are kept under glass at the central cashier's counter. I went with a blueberry muffin and a carrot cake muffin, which I saved for later. The Blueberry had a good flavor, but was less sweet than most store bought varieties I have tried. It had a slightly denser texture than I expected as well. (The Carrot Cake is also less sweet than I have had and does not have any icing like most I've tried. The carrot is really pronounced in flavor.) The only knock I have here is that like most coffee places, the coffee is kept so hot that you can't drink it straight for ten minutes without scalding your mouth and ruining the ability to taste the flavor. This little coffee shop is a hidden, chill place that's great if you're a Mass Ave resident of Circa or 707 North Apartments. Its within good walking distance. My first time visiting and the decor is very earthy, with a rustic feel. The wall facing the coffee bar has a geographic globe spread across the entire wall. Also, I liked the antique, vintage cash register that was actually used. Kelly waited on me and took my order after explaining the menu. I ordered a Spanish latte, made with Almond milk. I found a cozy spot to sit and wait for my order to be called for pick up, to have 'in-house' experience of the ambience. It was average noise level, a few ppl caring on conversations over a cup of coffee, and even surfing the internet on their laptops. After 20 minutes, I noticed the coffee shop had become crowded and I still had not received my order. I went to address the barista but, it seems they had forgot my order. Then when he made the Spanish Latte, he made it without Almond milk ‍. Once the barista realized he made it incorrectly, he immediately apologized for the inconvenience and for the delay of receiving my order. Another 10 minutes went by, and by this time I needed to leave, so I politely asked for my Spanish latte be made To-Go. After an additional apology, I was given my coffee and sent on my way. I love how secluded and out of the way Kaffeine is! Behind the Circa Apartments, Kaffeine is the coolest, most chill coffee shop in town. The atmosphere feels like you're about to go on a safari or an Indiana Jones adventure with maps and charts and the like. Finally was able to visit this cute and unique coffee shop! I love the feel of Kaffeine and the Iced coffee did not disappoint. The barista offered to add sweetener and cream and it was the perfect amount. Kaffeine has multiple tables so it would be a great place to study, relax or have a meeting. This location is quite hidden, but it does have some parking and has an interesting environment. It's down a small side street, where the west side is an apt building and the other side is a brick building that features several buildings. There's a small "K" sign above the entrance - be careful or you'll miss it. There is actually parking, but check the signs. Some parking is available for this coffee shop, but make sure you are parking where it is available for K coffee! When you enter, you need to go up a big step, so this is not wheelchair accessible. Entering, you immediately see an all gender bathroom (yay) and it's a large space with various tables, chairs, and counters. I only had a drip coffee, and it was solid. This place is known for its fancy coffee, so next time I'll have to check that out. read more

I stopped by here twice on a recent visit to Indy, and I must say that I was greatly impressed. Parking was fine for me, but I stopped by at a pretty slow time. I could see how it might become an issue. I had African coffee the first time and the Bicerin with a cinnamon scone the second. Both drinks were very good, but I don't know that there's a lot here if you don't like coffee. But seriously, why would you be here in that case? Walking in, the place just screams hipster, and I don't mean that in a bad way. They use an iPad for your order, but then they have an old register if you give them cash. Atmosphere is very muted and warm here and the coffee is one of the better in town. They had a lot of options, one of the more comprehensive lists I've found. I've had their cappuccino and Spanish latte and can recommend both. It's definitely a work hub for remote workers. There aren't many outlets available but the wifi is pretty fast. read more

Kaffeine is likely the best kept secret - concerning coffee - in Indianapolis. Tucked away in the northeast corner of downtown, a block or two off Mass. Ave, Kaffeine boasts only a small sign above the door of an unassuming building in the alley off Fulton street. It's the kind of place you don't stumble upon, unless you're looking for it. The interior is roomy, quiet, modern, and functional. The menu is located on a piece of paper by the cash register, and can change on a whim. Because of COVID-19, seating was more limited than usual (and the hours of operation were adjusted), however, patrons were quietly reading and working around the room at acceptable distance. In the center of the room, the masked barista was plying his trade. I am a connoisseur of coffee. The way people speak of wine, I speak of coffee. I like bold, rich, dark coffees that are unsullied by syrups and other flavors. I informed the barista that I wanted something dark, bold, nutty, natural, and dry. He recommended a dark Peruvian coffee. What he then delivered was excellent. Bold, rich, earthy, and not acidic. There were notes of flowers and tree nuts in the finish (aftertaste); darkest Peru in a cup. The price was modest for my 8oz. ticket to Peru; money well spent. There were tubs of coffee beans marked with other countries too. I will definitely be heading back to Kaffeine again to see what other tastes I can experience. Finally, I've found it. A coffee shop that's 6 minutes from home, with designated parking (and close to Mass Ave if you need more spots), a minimalist but aesthetically pleasing interior, low music volume and minimal noise, plenty of comfortable seating, and a coffee menu that covers all bases. I enjoyed my coffee so much that my partner and I collectively drank 4 cups and now we can't sit still (they weren't kidding about the Kaffeine). Our barista confirmed they do $3 bottomless house blend coffee which is a good idea because their menu is a TAD pricey if you're gonna sit there a while (I had 2 12 Oz kaffe mochas and it put me out a cool $10). Definitely looking forward to doing that next time. They also have free water, and a section to purchase cold drinks like bai, la croix, and smartwater. A bit off the beaten path, you'll find Kaffeine Coffee tucked behind the Circa apartments. Parking is rough, so walk if you can. Loved the interiors and the way the space was laid out. Plenty of smaller four person tables and one large table on the opposite side of the bar. Small menu which makes it easy to make a decision. I didn't want anything too heavy and I was recommended the Spanish Latte. Steamed with cinnamon to make it a bit sweeter. My biggest gripes were the fact that they didn't have a lot of areas that you could plug up your computer. Which in my opinion make a coffee shop a winner. If I know I can hunker down and get some work done, you're higher on my list of shops to visit. Second, I thought it was a really nice gesture that everyone who ordered a drink and sat down was brought their beverage to their table. That was until I heard my name being called by the girl to pick up my drink at the bar before she even finished making the drink. No one else during my time there was called up for their drink. The music was also pretty loud. Multiple times my friend and I felt like we were yelling over the music to hear each other. Overall, good atmosphere and my drink was solid. The building looks like it used to be a warehouse/loft/ or factory of some sort. With exposed beams, an industrial feel, high ceilings and modern light fixtures, Kaffeine really kicked it out of the ball park when capitalizing on this unique space's features. While the coffee isnt anything superior to other coffee shops in the area, they do offer bottomless coffee for under $3! They have an array of pastries, non-kaffeinated (hehe see what i did there?) protein bars, nuts and parfaits. Free wifi to customers and great customer service! Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting good service, quality coffee/drinks/food and an inviting atmosphere. read more

After making a few circles to find this place, my friend and I finally made it in. What a great hidden spot! I absolutely love the interior. The tile at the entrance says "Coffee Inside," the back wall has a huge mural of the world, and the vintage mixed with industrial decor - it all just works! Oh and the music selection was great! My friend and I posted up at a table near the window, but not right by the window. There were two small heaters close to us so it felt super cozy. We had checked in on the Yelp app and there was a discount of $0.25 for checking in our first time. Always nice to see businesses do that. I got the Kaffeine Coffee Drip which was really good. The barista even let me sample it before ordering. She also mentioned to let her know if I needed a refill. So that was nice to know they offer that. I don't think it's free, but I'm sure it wouldn't be much extra. After an hour we realized we needed to charge our laptops. The outlets we saw were against the wall. Luckily, a guy moved from a table and we moved so our wires wouldn't be in the way of anyone. Great coffee spot with a great atmosphere. Will definitely be back. I am not a big coffee drinker, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit this cafe during the "Yelp's Phobruary Vietnamese Coffee 101" event. The cafe is located behind the Cirque apartment complex, along with other businesses. It has a rustic industrial feel, and very spacious and quiet. It could be a nice place to study. The owner is very friendly and knowledge about coffee, and you can tell he has a passion for it too. I stopped drinking coffee several years ago, but decided to try the Vietnamese coffee just for the experience. The coffee is slowly brewed with milk added to it. It can be brewed hot or cold. We tried the cold brew at the event, and I wasn't disappointed. It kinda tasted like nestle coffee to me, but the flavor of the milk could have something to do with it. For coffee lovers, I would absolutely recommend this place. The only issue I foresee is finding a parking spot. read more

We walked from my work office a few blocks away. Walking there, it seems like you're in the wrong place. I assume it would be different if you're driving there. Just look for the "Coffee" sign on their garage door and you'll know you're in the right place! It was a beautiful, sunny day so I asked for the barista's favorite iced drink. He made me the Vietnamese iced coffee. Honestly, it wasn't the best. It had a weird initial taste that was always there with every taste. It was okay, but nothing I would order again. We got them to go, and there was a good inch or so short of coffee from the top of our cups as well, something that's a bit frustrating to me. As far as in the interior and staff, 5 stars. It's a beautiful, modern design with lots of random "construction work shop" themed items throughout the coffee shop. Beautiful and a perfect place to study, work, design, whatever you want for a coffee shop. I hope to be back soon and get something that has people coming back for more, but as of now, the iced Vietnamese left a not-so-pleasant taste. read more

If it weren't for Yelp and the determination of my companion we never would have found this place. Which would have been unfortunate because it's a great space. The coffee was good and the menu extensive. It's one of those places that will brew your coffee in various ways with very little difference in results (at least to the average, unpretentious caffeine addict). But I'm all about the experiance and when it comes to coffee I can pretend with the best of them to justify paying 3 and 4 times the price for a beverage I could make at home. And I'd rather find locally owned places like Kaffeine than darken the doors of "that other coffee place". As we went through the rest of our day we discovered that the Kaffeine coffee truck is a well loved establishment amongst locals. I wish them the very best in their newest endeavor. Looking for a cool place downtown to chill at while enjoying coffee (nice selection of varieties) brewed via various methods then you should check out this sweet spot. They have drip coffee, espresso creations, pour over varieties. While you will not find a million flavors available here you will find great coffee so do not hesitate to try out the available offers. My recommendations: Drip coffee with condensed sweet cream or the Spanish latte. For the dishes purists you can get your drinks and food served on dishes. I opted to save on the mug and request a to go cup because I dislike someone having to wash dishes and I wanted to savor my delicious latte a bit longer during my afternoon errands. Not seeking coffee? Check out the teas and other drink selections. I saw flavors of Bai drinks that I have yet to find in Indy except recently at Costco. My companion of the day had a Fanta pineapple soda in a glass bottle. Need something to munch on? They have you covered with a selection of pastries. I highly recommend the almond croissant!
