This is a long overdue review. I had my first appt with Dr. Au, whom share the same last name as…read moreme. (I had to mention it because not many Chinese have this last name) I had a eczema type skin condition since a kid, it have bothered my for so many years. As people would know, you can't really cure a skin condition (or any disease really, what we do is just preventing or boost our own immune system to beat it). Needless to say, he's my savior. Actually I did not believe he can treat me, or any treatment would be effective on me. I was wrong, it worked. Although my condition fought back to the steroid based antibiotics, but it worked like a miracle when we first used it. His diagnose was right on spot, and the treatment gave me few years of peace...then I start to scratch again..but that's another story. My conclusion? If you got him, make him your go-to dermatologist, he knows how to make your skin better, and make you feel confident again. I moved to California, but there's a year that I visited family in Connecticut, and found the time to go to his office in New York again just to follow up my condition.

The most important was that he told me how to protect my hands and clean my hands the right way, so I wouldn't irritate the skin during recovery. Dr. Au is very experienced, so he is quick in giving diagnosis but it doesn't mean that he's careless or sloppy, but make sure you listen to his instruction carefully and ask if you don't understand. Dr. Au seems mean but he doesn't mind his patient asking him questions. I do ask a lot of questions, and he always gives me clear answers. I have referred a few colleagues and friends to Dr. Au, and they were all happy that their skin problems were cured by just one to two visits!

I later requested the CPT codes, contacted my insurance company directly, and obtained a second opinion. I was told that medically necessary reconstruction following Mohs is typically covered when performed by an in-network surgeon. When I raised my concern with Dr. Rokhsar's office and asked for an explanation, I did not receive a substantive response. Instead, I received a letter terminating the physician-patient relationship. I also requested electronic access to my medical records and have not yet receive a response to that follow-up request. I have filed a complaint with the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct. I would encourage patients to independently verify insurance coverage, CPT codes, and reconstructive options before proceeding.

I scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Pistilli the day before I had to leave, and she prescribed me cream to apply to my rashes. My skin instantly became better, and I was able to wear makeup to the wedding. The rash on my neck had been bothering me for the past year, and I wish I had scheduled an appointment earlier! I went back a few weeks later for a follow-up appointment, and Dr. Pistilli prescribed me some more cream if my skin decides to flare up again. I am extremely happy with my first experience seeing a dermatologist, and I will definitely go back in the future if I need to!

It has taken a few years to write this review. I am doing it now because, out of the blue, I was…read moreinvited by the office to join a new portal called FollowMyHealth. I was shocked. Here's why. I'll start by saying that I had one visit with Dr Vine herself, who I really liked. I went for a full body check and she was gentle and thorough. I believe this was in 2020. About a year or 2 later all of a sudden I developed a red rash on my shin. I called immediately, was seen the next day by the PA who took a scraping. Didn't hear back for 2 weeks and when they did call they said the test was inconclusive and I should come back. By this time the rash was completely gone and I had no symptoms of anything. I told them this and that I not only didn't see the reason to return, but I was upset that there was no diagnosis at all. I also asked for a refund as the visit was a complete waste of time. Turn the clock forward almost 2 years. Out of the blue I get a call from the office to follow up on the rash. I refuse to make an appointment as there was nothing wrong. This felt like harassment. There were multiple phone calls. There was no real explanation for their insistence to my coming back at that time. I should also note that during this time my husband was being treated for a cancer he eventually died from. The next thing I know I was "fired" from being their patient and, without my request, they mailed my records to me. Just for refusing to make an appointment. I never harassed them in any way. I just didn't see the need to return at that time. Perhaps I would have come back once my life was more settled, for another complete body check. The rash never returned. I was under the care of my GP who would be able to identify any issue. This was a horrific experience which does not, unfortunately, reflect directly on Dr Vine herself, but rather the way her office is run. I sent a letter to Dr Vine, telling her how upset I was. There was never a response from her. And now they want me to sign up for their portal? Geeesh!

Dr rothaus has a beautiful office on the upper east side and his staff is absolutely lovely! It's always unnerving going to see someone to help you "fix" the parts of your body or face you are unhappy with but dr. Rothaus made me feel so comfortable and spoke to me in depth about my options. My fear is always doing too much, but we landed on a treatment plan of just a little bit of Botox and then a follow up session to see how I felt about the results. I look great and natural and I love it!!! He earned my trust and that is really important for me. I will absolutely continue to see him and work with him on anti aging stuff.
