Not air conditioned in about half of it. Shop that is in the departure area goes around 360 degrees and is called international shoppers market. Pretty much overpriced but I bought some small souvenirs. The departure gates seem to be air conditioned but not all it seems. The area in the central area is non air conditioned but if you sit outside the air conditioned shops, you can catch the ac. tip: the one with the travel pillows outside has the coolest ac (checked them all out):) Bathrooms are clean and plentiful. Check ins have to pass through an agricultural inspection prior to checking in. Hand carries have an agricultural check prior to the gate you are going to. But, packaged food items are ok. The Kahului Airport is very welcoming and friendly. Didn't expect the staff to be so friendly and helpful -- and it's surprising very clean as well! Terminals are easy to locate, signs are visible, very clean and open space. Restrooms are also very clean and fully stocked with the necessary essentials. The food and drinks are much pricier than expected. Water / fountain drinks / juice is $5.99 each and a tiny pizza (roughly 4 inches) is $17.99. Totally expected since it's at the airport but I would most likely pass on the food and drinks are the airport next time around. But overall, Kahului Airport is a lovely airport. Maui's main airport. The best part about here is it's mainly open air outdoor design with beautiful views. What I find annoying is the multiple agricultural checks. MAUI - took a trip to Maui in my birthday month . Landed at OGG airport and it immediately transports you back in time . It's an open air old school airport with the island breeze flowing through and lots of travelers coming through . Staff is not as friendly and you would expect. A bit on the pushy side actually !! Bag came a bit late but the Uber pick up was very close and we got on our way shortly after. On our way out was the longest line and heard it can get to a 3 hour wait !! Still too small and they may have to think of an expanding soon!! read more

STILL Maui No Ka Oi! Finally, FINALLY got to go back home after nearly a decade of being too busy with life in Vegas! Wanted to take the wifey on a much-delayed quick mini honeymoon to early celebrate our upcoming 15th wedding anniversary! PLUS it was a great time to finally see Mom again at home! Kahului Airport (or the OGG) is still basically the same as my last visit! No frills type of airport - safely land & the payoff is the lovely view of the island of Maui...and the smell of paradise! Worth it if you ask me! Oh, and now they've got a California Pizza Kitchen too now in the terminal's food court - only one on the entire island! I don't care if the Kahului Airport hasn't been fully modernized yet to today's standards and I don't care if there's no slot machines by the gates (HA!) - I love when I fly back into this place! It indeed truly still feels like HOME to me! Stay the same, my nostalgia thanks you! read more

The upgrade is nice with AC now and the new bathrooms are nice! Also there are more eateries and coffee shops in the airport. Definitely a great upgrade. Not to mention the car rental center is just a short trolley ride away making car rental pickup and drop off convenient. read more

This is a basic airport that gets the job done. It has expanded and greatly improved its rental car experience within the past couple of years. But for a location that hosts large numbers of pleasure seeking tourists, I'm a little surprised it has not upped its terminal amenities game to match. OGG has all the fundamentals needed for hosting aircraft arrivals and departures safely and it does so with a partial open-air design. This, along with the island-style of laid back time passage by all the staff remind you that while you are in paradise, you are 1 step away from a bush league experience. Because it is a small footprint and it does not have large volumes of people or flights going through it, it seems to function very well most of the time. But if there is a hiccup, the lines become long, security becomes very backed up, and checked luggage arrival can be delayed. When that happens, jus' try relax an' enjoy da time! It does have a TSA Clear and Precheck lineup that works well when it is open if you qualify for those categories of screening. It also has a limited number of simple food, beverage, and shop options, plus it has a modern rental car facility accessible by a short walk or a tram ride. So it really has everything that is needed to move the meat through to either get your vacation started or get you off the island. But it lacks some of the creature comforts of better airports such as enough seating at the gates to accommodate all passengers, adequate charging outlets for people, more than snack bar and simple types of dining options, or any airline lounges except for Hawaiian Air. So no come early fo' yo' flight, cuz you goin' be bored, brah! From my entitled perspective, none of this matters when I am arriving and ready to start enjoying my time on Maui. But it makes it tough to leave when you know that the fun is over and now you have to sit at a no frills airport waiting for a long redeye flight to take you back to reality. Like I said at the beginning, it gets the job done. But I wish it would let me down a little easier when it is time to fly home. read more

This airport checks all the boxes for me. Small, easy to get through with TSA PRe, gift shops, live music in the baggage claim area when I arrived, restaurants and coffee. Easy walk to rental car or take the trolley. Easy Uber drop off. Lots of seating at the gate area. Super friendly service. Please come and create your own adventure. read more

I think it's been more than 20years that I've been to the island of Maui. My younger years my sister and I use to go to Lahaina for the summer to stay with my grandparents. Of course no Lahaina due to the devastation of the wild fires . Anyway this airport has change a lot . So right outside of baggage claim there's a tram that will take you to the rental car center . Of course it was out of service when I arrived so the walk was about 8-10 minutes from one end of the airport to the other . What a work out I wasn't expecting to exercise while I'm on vacation lol . The only part hasn't change is the four way split in the middle of the airport where there's all the shops and Starbucks. Just also found out if you're walking back to the terminal from the Rental car center there's no way to cross over to the check in side . You'll need to wait for the Tram gates to open so you can walk across Maui No ka oi read more

Kahului Airport (OGG) is the main airport coming in and going out of the island of Maui. It receives both overseas and inter-island flights mainly from Oahu. Fun fact: the airport code OGG pays homage to the aviation pioneer Jimmy Hogg who flew planes on what is now known as Hawaiian Airlines. The interior decor was a little outdated and reminded me of the airport at Honolulu if you've ever been. However it was smaller so we got through it pretty quickly both in and out. Even though it felt old, they use facial technology instead of a boarding pass when going through TSA which sped things up. If you're picking up a rental car, you can either take a tram two stops to the rental car center or walk about 8 minutes. read more

Quite the change leaving a pressurized, AC airplane and arriving at OGG where it's warm and humid. Thankfully, nicely laid out and visible signage of where one needs to be. The usual shops and restaurants, but the bathroom is my first stop. Clean & secure. Helpful info brochures and maps for later. Frequent free tram to move people from the terminal and baggage claim to the car rental counters. Gets the job done. And besides, you've just arrived on Maui, no complaints here. read more

Always a treat to fly in and out of the Kahului Airport...I mean you arrive in paradise! I love deplaning and you are instantly in open air, warm breezes and surrounded by palm trees. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to go to so convenience is key. If you plan on visiting the airport club, remember they only offer snacks and soft drinks, no food or bar provided. read more

Honestly not a bad airport at all! Bags came out quickly upon arrival. Departure was easy breezy! The people there weren't as friendly as I would have expected but nice. Nice but Just not abroad nice, or welcome to my island nice, iykyk. Not the smallest airport I've been to, Tahiti beats them but small nonetheless. There aren't many places to eat and the Burger King we went to before we departed was very expensive for fast food. I over heard them saying it was closing down. Prices are provably the reason. If I did Maui again I'd eat before coming to the airport. Overall, it's Maui and it does the job! Love the outdoor vibe to it! read more

I was so excited for the opportunity to come to Hawaii and absolutely fell in love with the island's beauty! Brought a film camera to capture memories from my trip, but was extremely disappointed when TSA refused to hand check my film and cameras. The TSA employees were rude, incompetent, dismissive and unhelpful. I was told they would have to run the film through the xray machine, hence damaging/jeopardizing all photos. I have NEVER experienced this at any other airport and am incredibly upset with how the staff acted. read more

A nice but small airport with only three gates, which caused us to wait on the tarmac for almost half an hour after landing. Considering the flight time from Honolulu is only about 20 minutes, the delay felt especially long. Not a good experience by any means. read more

Outbound the reservation desks are pretty hectic with loads of people traveling. There's a few baggage inspection areas, firstly for checked bags but that goes quickly, at least for me it did. Security was not the fastest, but certainly not bad or aggressive like many others out there. Theres food places, sit down restaurants, souvenirs all that jazz. What I don't like about this airport is it lacks privacy for changing your baby. The changing table faces a large opening area and is just a hard counter space instead of a normal changing area. I feel like whoever designed the bathrooms for this airport had no children or regards for privacy. read more

This is a nice little airport with some stores and restaurants. For the rental car, you can take the free trolley or walk to the building, about 10 minutes to the left of the airport. Follow the walkway next to the trolley. When we arrived, we waited for and took the trolley. Going home, we walked from the rental car building to the airport next to the trolley line. If you have checked bag, there is a scanner when you enter the airport to scan for contraband, live items. For carry-on luggage, closer to the gate, their is a separate scanner for your carry-on suitcase and bags. Flower leis are not allowed. My chocolate covered macadamia nuts were fine through the carry-on scanner. read more

So I have a love hate relationship with this place being that many Sundays for over four years of my life I had to come here to fly to da dorms on Oahu for the Big K school on the hill... IYKYK Otherwise barring that part, glad Maui has an airport that can accommodate so many airline companies and direct flights. Don't listen to the haters. I'm giving 4 stars because it's still in Hawaii and has that Hawaiian vibe. Plus it has all the stuff you want and can expect in a relatively small airport. Decent food and shops. Bright and airy. And two Priority Pass lounges. Now, both lunges are sub-par compared to other airports, but at least they got 'em! I have been to Maui every year for the past 20 years. Not much has changed except for the new tram that takes you to the rental car area. The OGG airport is small but efficient. The TSA uses face recognition, so the lines move a little more quickly now. I just love that it is still dated, small, and not as crowded as most of the modern airports these days. read more

Flew to Maui with my girlfriend's meetup group for a week on the island. Lax to OGG Kahului airport. OGG is a nice mid sized airport, comfortable, easy to navigate, and convenient. Relatively short lines for tsa screening and ticket counters (we checked bags for the trip, bringing snorkeling gear and other items too big for carrying on) Concourse is pretty straightforward go through screening and continue to your gate. Train takes you from the rental car return to the ticket counters and continues to baggage claim. Much easier and less confusing than Honolulu airport. I prefer to fly directly to Maui when it's my Hawaiian destination. Mamava lactation pod for breastfeeding mothers is a nice amenity. read more

Small airport, very clean and organized. Friendly staff. Getting through TSA was quick and efficient. Got to our gate so fast and it was easy to find. One of the gift shops was even selling souvenirs for 50% off when we left Maui! got some coasters, ornaments, banana bread, and bags of coffee beans. It's not too far of a walk from the rental car place to the gates but they also provide a tram that takes you to and from which is convenient. Would fly here again! read more

No A/C until you get past security, so be prepared to sweat a bit. The inspection scan is one more stop before ticketing, but that goes quick. Don't try to steal anything from the island and you'll be okay. Everything at this airport shuts down early. The stores by 8:30-9 PM and the one lounge even earlier. Also, don't wait like me and expect to buy the Mauna Loa macadamias. They were nowhere to be found, in Hawaii of all place. I waited about 30 minutes for my bag, which must have found itself on island time like the workers. P.S. The is the airport where the opening scene of White Lotus season 1 was filmed. read more

They're very adorable and manageable Airport. Everything is easy to get to and the signs are very clear. The rental car trolley is right across the street. It's only an eight minute walk or five minutes by trolley to the rental cars. It's very clean and even if the airport is not super modern but it's very clean and organized and efficient. Amenities at the airport are not great while waiting to depart, wish there was more excitement/shops to cap off Maui. Charging ports were @ every other seat, but only for plugs not USB-A or USB-C. the ADD at OGG I've had my first visit to Maui in nearly 10 years, and wanted to share a brief update about Kahului Airport: There is a newly constructed car rental center near the airport. I thought this was most convenient as all the rental car companies are now contained under one roof. A tram transports visitor arrivals to the car rental center.....or one may choose to walk. It's about an 8 minute walk (per posted signage) from the arrival station to the rental center. If you choose to take the tram to the rental center, you will first stop at "departure center" before your arrival. Upon your arrival at the center, follow the signs to your rental car company. When returning your vehicle, there is adequate signage directing drivers to the rental car center and specific rental company. BOTTOM LINE The new rental car center at OGG is a welcome improvement. read more

Im gonna give this airport a 4-star and some love simply based on the fact that we are kn a small island and the meaning of ALOHA doesnt start or stop when you leave, its a mindset. Sure it can be better improved and more organized but again slow down, practice kindness and be more patient. They will figure it out someday but we all dread airports in general just like a doctors appointment. Next time you decide to give it a 1-star or zero just remember you live in a world of abundance and being in long lines is temporary, memories at the beach drinking umbrella cocktails are forever.
