The upgrade is nice with AC now and the new bathrooms are nice! Also there are more eateries and coffee shops in the airport. Definitely a great upgrade. Not to mention the car rental center is just a short trolley ride away making car rental pickup and drop off convenient.

Today was an excellent day at gate 7 because the fans were off! It's usually freezing cause the fans are on along with the air conditioning.

This airport checks all the boxes for me. Small, easy to get through with TSA PRe, gift shops, live music in the baggage claim area when I arrived, restaurants and coffee. Easy walk to rental car or take the trolley. Easy Uber drop off. Lots of seating at the gate area. Super friendly service. Please come and create your own adventure.

I think it's been more than 20years that I've been to the island of Maui. My younger years my sister and I use to go to Lahaina for the summer to stay with my grandparents. Of course no Lahaina due to the devastation of the wild fires . Anyway this airport has change a lot . So right outside of baggage claim there's a tram that will take you to the rental car center . Of course it was out of service when I arrived so the walk was about 8-10 minutes from one end of the airport to the other . What a work out I wasn't expecting to exercise while I'm on vacation lol . The only part hasn't change is the four way split in the middle of the airport where there's all the shops and Starbucks. Just also found out if you're walking back to the terminal from the Rental car center there's no way to cross over to the check in side . You'll need to wait for the Tram gates to open so you can walk across Maui No ka oi

Always a treat to fly in and out of the Kahului Airport...I mean you arrive in paradise! I love deplaning and you are instantly in open air, warm breezes and surrounded by palm trees. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to go to so convenience is key. If you plan on visiting the airport club, remember they only offer snacks and soft drinks, no food or bar provided.

Kahului Airport (OGG) is the main airport coming in and going out of the island of Maui. It receives both overseas and inter-island flights mainly from Oahu. Fun fact: the airport code OGG pays homage to the aviation pioneer Jimmy Hogg who flew planes on what is now known as Hawaiian Airlines. The interior decor was a little outdated and reminded me of the airport at Honolulu if you've ever been. However it was smaller so we got through it pretty quickly both in and out. Even though it felt old, they use facial technology instead of a boarding pass when going through TSA which sped things up. If you're picking up a rental car, you can either take a tram two stops to the rental car center or walk about 8 minutes.

Quite the change leaving a pressurized, AC airplane and arriving at OGG where it's warm and humid. Thankfully, nicely laid out and visible signage of where one needs to be. The usual shops and restaurants, but the bathroom is my first stop. Clean & secure. Helpful info brochures and maps for later. Frequent free tram to move people from the terminal and baggage claim to the car rental counters. Gets the job done. And besides, you've just arrived on Maui, no complaints here.

It's a quaint airport for Maui. Very simple and easy to navigate. The baggage claim site is close to the exit area. Car rentals are situated across the street. Nice weather . Aloha

Adequate food places before and after agriculture security section. Clean airport and clean restrooms.

Much improved since Covid says. Many shops and restaurants open. AC cranking and now able to enjoy outdoor areas and catch some sun.

Its been a minute since I was last on Maui and I was pleasantly surprised by the new train and rental car center. Wow and modern and efficient. A much needed upgrade to get.your car fast and get on your way.

A nice but small airport with only three gates, which caused us to wait on the tarmac for almost half an hour after landing. Considering the flight time from Honolulu is only about 20 minutes, the delay felt especially long. Not a good experience by any means.

Are the restaurants open in the terminals due to Covid?

No they are not. Unfortunately everything is closed in the airport to include Starbucks. It's literally check in only & board your plane.

It's about the same size, not as open as Kona is but easy to navigate. Still smaller than Oahu's airport

Anyone know the name of the parking lot across from Costco (hours, rates, #)?

We've flown them between Oahu to Maui & the Big Island, but have never been to Kauai (yet). On a recent flight from Daniel K. Inouye airport (HNL) to Kahului (OGG), it was a short 100 mile flight taking less than 1/2 hr. You barely get up to cruising altitude, served a prepackaged cup of Passion Fruit/Guava juice and then prep for landing. There is no time in between for snacks. The airfare for inter-island travel is very affordable at a current average of $150 roundtrip. I'll bet that barely covers the fuel plus the juice cup. The planes are the smaller twin engine Boeing 717 (used to be McDonnell-Douglas MD-88) short haul jets that hop back and forth multiple times a day, that they only service them when they land in Oahu. Pro-Tip: Be careful when you open your sealed cup of Passion Fruit/Guava juice because its internal pressure is at sea level while the cabin pressure is at 8000 ft. It will squirt out if you don't open the foil cover slowly to equalize the pressure.

It was great to have direct flights. However, for a 5-6 hour flight this was a bit spare and cramped. Gone are the pre-pandemic amenities like magazines, movie/music entertainment, pillows/blankets, and food. SEA to OGG - two beverage service with a Biscoff packet, water service, agricultural/customs form, and heavy pitch for the Atmos card (Alaska had recently bought Hawaiian). Overpriced snack boxes that can be prepaid or paid by card during the flight, subject to availability. OGG to SEA (overnight/red eye flight) - one beverage service with a pretzel packet. Then dimmed lights until we landed 7am local time. My brother who flew ahead via Hawaiian Airlines described his flight experience which was in stark contrast: generous beverage service and actual meals served - generous deli sandwiches. Alaska Airlines could do better. I remember the good ol' days flying to San Francisco, then Alaska got a bit streamlined flying to Baltimore and Milwaukee, but now even more spare with this recent experience to Maui. The flight attendants and airport staff encountered at Kahului are great. But the overall Alaska Airlines experience was kind of meh. This does not bode well for the Hawaiian Airlines merger/takeover.
