Great airport! Feels really nice to travel through an airport without all the hustle and bustle. The airport personnel were kind, patient and willing to assist in any way. Go to Maui!

Maui's main airport. The best part about here is it's mainly open air outdoor design with beautiful views. What I find annoying is the multiple agricultural checks. The place can definitely use an upgrade but I appreciate the retro vibe. There are a couple of restaurants, shops and stores. There are 2 runways for flights to the US mainland and helicopter service available

MAUI - took a trip to Maui in my birthday month . Landed at OGG airport and it immediately transports you back in time . It's an open air old school airport with the island breeze flowing through and lots of travelers coming through . Staff is not as friendly and you would expect. A bit on the pushy side actually !! Bag came a bit late but the Uber pick up was very close and we got on our way shortly after. On our way out was the longest line and heard it can get to a 3 hour wait !! Still too small and they may have to think of an expanding soon!!

The upgrade is nice with AC now and the new bathrooms are nice! Also there are more eateries and coffee shops in the airport. Definitely a great upgrade. Not to mention the car rental center is just a short trolley ride away making car rental pickup and drop off convenient.

This airport checks all the boxes for me. Small, easy to get through with TSA PRe, gift shops, live music in the baggage claim area when I arrived, restaurants and coffee. Easy walk to rental car or take the trolley. Easy Uber drop off. Lots of seating at the gate area. Super friendly service. Please come and create your own adventure.

I think it's been more than 20years that I've been to the island of Maui. My younger years my sister and I use to go to Lahaina for the summer to stay with my grandparents. Of course no Lahaina due to the devastation of the wild fires . Anyway this airport has change a lot . So right outside of baggage claim there's a tram that will take you to the rental car center . Of course it was out of service when I arrived so the walk was about 8-10 minutes from one end of the airport to the other . What a work out I wasn't expecting to exercise while I'm on vacation lol . The only part hasn't change is the four way split in the middle of the airport where there's all the shops and Starbucks. Just also found out if you're walking back to the terminal from the Rental car center there's no way to cross over to the check in side . You'll need to wait for the Tram gates to open so you can walk across Maui No ka oi

Today was an excellent day at gate 7 because the fans were off! It's usually freezing cause the fans are on along with the air conditioning.

Kahului Airport (OGG) is the main airport coming in and going out of the island of Maui. It receives both overseas and inter-island flights mainly from Oahu. Fun fact: the airport code OGG pays homage to the aviation pioneer Jimmy Hogg who flew planes on what is now known as Hawaiian Airlines. The interior decor was a little outdated and reminded me of the airport at Honolulu if you've ever been. However it was smaller so we got through it pretty quickly both in and out. Even though it felt old, they use facial technology instead of a boarding pass when going through TSA which sped things up. If you're picking up a rental car, you can either take a tram two stops to the rental car center or walk about 8 minutes.

Quite the change leaving a pressurized, AC airplane and arriving at OGG where it's warm and humid. Thankfully, nicely laid out and visible signage of where one needs to be. The usual shops and restaurants, but the bathroom is my first stop. Clean & secure. Helpful info brochures and maps for later. Frequent free tram to move people from the terminal and baggage claim to the car rental counters. Gets the job done. And besides, you've just arrived on Maui, no complaints here.

It's a quaint airport for Maui. Very simple and easy to navigate. The baggage claim site is close to the exit area. Car rentals are situated across the street. Nice weather . Aloha

Always a treat to fly in and out of the Kahului Airport...I mean you arrive in paradise! I love deplaning and you are instantly in open air, warm breezes and surrounded by palm trees. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to go to so convenience is key. If you plan on visiting the airport club, remember they only offer snacks and soft drinks, no food or bar provided.

Much improved since Covid says. Many shops and restaurants open. AC cranking and now able to enjoy outdoor areas and catch some sun.

Kahului Airport Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Kahului Airport

What are they doing to fix the security lines?!!! Close to 2 hours to get through TSA!!!!

That airport is in no way designed or prepared for the volume of people that are descending on the area. Unfortunately the prevailing attitude is" if you don't like it don't come." What we did was put ourselves in the mindset of just being so…

Are the restaurants open in the terminals due to Covid?

No they are not. Unfortunately everything is closed in the airport to include Starbucks. It's literally check in only & board your plane.

How big is this airport compared to Kona?

It's about the same size, not as open as Kona is but easy to navigate. Still smaller than Oahu's airport

Does anyone know how much parking rates are?

    $15 a day

Anyone know the name of the parking lot across from Costco (hours, rates, #)?

So we just got back from Maui. I not sure which parking lot you are speaking of. I dont recall a paid parking lot near Costco - just other shopping centers with parking. Most places including the beaches are free parking. I wish I could be of more…

Do men like to receive a lei when they land? My brother is coming to the island and was wondering if I should bring a lei?

I buy a kukui nut lei for when male friends or relatives come to the airport.

Previous flights to Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island had always been on Hawaiian Airlines…read more I decided to try Alaska Airlines to fly RT between SeaTac and Kahului airports on 8/26/25 and 9/2/25. It was great to have direct flights. However, for a 5-6 hour flight this was a bit spare and cramped. Gone are the pre-pandemic amenities like magazines, movie/music entertainment, pillows/blankets, and food. SEA to OGG - two beverage service with a Biscoff packet, water service, agricultural/customs form, and heavy pitch for the Atmos card (Alaska had recently bought Hawaiian). Overpriced snack boxes that can be prepaid or paid by card during the flight, subject to availability. OGG to SEA (overnight/red eye flight) - one beverage service with a pretzel packet. Then dimmed lights until we landed 7am local time. My brother who flew ahead via Hawaiian Airlines described his flight experience which was in stark contrast: generous beverage service and actual meals served - generous deli sandwiches. Alaska Airlines could do better. I remember the good ol' days flying to San Francisco, then Alaska got a bit streamlined flying to Baltimore and Milwaukee, but now even more spare with this recent experience to Maui. The flight attendants and airport staff encountered at Kahului are great. But the overall Alaska Airlines experience was kind of meh. This does not bode well for the Hawaiian Airlines merger/takeover.

The gate agent at Maui was sweet and helpful. Hubs came along to Maui then left to return to Honolulu. The flight was smooth, no turbulence. They had a beverage service and a few water offerings during the flight. You can buy a meal for $8 on board. No movie screens so most passengers even little kids were prepared with downloaded shows to entertain themselves. I am SO glad I got on the flight to visit Doc cuz s wonderful 3 day weekend was in store for visiting Tijuana, Animal Safari Park at San Diego Zoo and spending some precious moments with sweet grandpup.

Please listen to what the customer is saying, as I understood what you were saying, but you did not even listen to me. If your company has the ability to text when something has arrived, then I feel you should have the ability to text when something is being delayed. That is all I have to say. We have been sending boxes of flowers to Maui for a very long time now and I do realize that humans luggage comes before freight or packages on a first come first serve basis but let me say again if you can text when it arrives you also (although you told me that there is no way to do that if it is delayed heard you loud and clear) then please let your company know that as customers we need to be informed of delays.
