We really enjoyed the food and service at this little gem in Orange. The restaurant was really clean and has a nice welcoming vibe. Staff was attentive and accommodating. We tried a few different rolls including a baked salmon roll, crunch role and a salmon role. We also tried the Sashimi Salad and spicy edamame and everything was absolutely delicious. Decent sushi and sashimi restaurant . I say restaurant because it's cozy inside not real big but when you walk in the way the tables are set makes it feel bigger. Usually not buissy at all but they have a good menu and the food is fresh. I would have to say it's a little more expensive than I'm used to , 5 pieces of sushimi for about $15 but it's close and convienent and once order is placed usually 15 mins and your food is ready. They serve all the fixings on the side. They serve salads, sushi , sushi rolls and sushimi. Try them out if your in the are and in mood for seafood. read more

Another review indicated that there was a long wait for their delicious chicken. There have been some instances where they have sold out and the wait is a little long, but it's totally worth it. Passable sushi, SO overpriced! Does anybody actually pay full price at this place and come back again? I couldn't believe how marked up the individual items and combos are - this is not downtown LA in a trendy spot, it's a forgotten strip mall in Orange. Like $30 for a hand roll combo? $20/roll for relatively standard fare most other places? I know sushi costs have gone up in recent years, but this place stands out as a cash grab taking advantage of a rising price tide, not justified by the service, ambiance, or quality. It's a shame since I really wanted to like this convenient local spot - let me add the service was non-existent (ignored for 15 minutes before order, didn't check on table once, and then waited 30 minutes after finishing food before having to ask for the check) and yet the main owner lady asked twice and yelled "NO TIP?!" when she didn't receive a tip. Get real! Sorry to say it, but if your business is struggling in future years, I would look back at your pricing scale and assess where you truly are at in the local sushi scene. Do not order things that do not have a price. What they charged me in the restaurant was $2 more than what I could have ordered online. That's wild the in-store restaurant price is higher than Ubereats! So because of this, I opted to not give a tip, they already got it with the $2 higher price....but the lady was so insistent that I leave a tip, she even chased me out the door to remind me I didn't tip. What a great place! I needed lunch while I was waiting for a friend to get out of his dentist appointment so I decided to try this place out. The lady at the counter was so kind and friendly. I ordered 2 rolls and miso soup. She said since I was the first customer the soup was on the house. While I was waiting for the food I saw their handmade dish scrubbies and decided to get one for my mom. She was so kind and wrapped up the scrubbie in tissue paper and put a little heart on it for me. She even gave me a bag of chestnuts to give to my mother with the scrubby. The food and the service were really great. We didn't have a wait and the waitress was very kind and attentive to us. Sushi rolls were prepared quickly and she packed our leftovers for us. This place is great. Simple, quiet but so lovely. The menu has a decent variety of rolls and are cheap to average priced. The woman behind the counter tho is so graceful and charming. I came in alone to grab something while waiting for an appointment close by. I got the paradise roll which is 3 kinds of fish wrapped in cucumber, a spicy tuna hand roll and miso. They were all fantastic. Everything was seasoned to perfection - no watery miso here! And I loved the little sprinkle of crunch on the top of the hand roll. It was only in one or two bites but it was fun. I ordered and paid (before eating) at the counter since I wasn't sure how they operate but it didn't stop the woman from serving eke everything, including laying out all my utensils. At one point, I went to get water from the dispenser and she rushed out to do it for me. Encouraging me to enjoy my meal, which I throughly did. We liked that there were different types of sushi items on the menu! The prices are reasonable and the food is fresh. The location is in a shopping center and the inside is small. Not anything fancy, but quite cute and homey, actually. I was entertained by the art on the walls and around the restaurant. It has quite a personal touch, and not too stuffy or uninviting. I wish it had poke, but that's only a personal preference. There's nothing wrong with the way the restaurant is currently, and the selection is quite good! This is my favorite quick sushi spot! When I am in the mood to "go out" for sushi, there are other places I favor because Kai does not serve alcohol. And while I'm not a total lush or anything like that, I enjoy wine or sake with my sushi which Kai can't offer. BUT - their food is fantastic!! I eat here frequently, whether for a quick stop in or to take it to-go. Everything is delicious. My favorite is the Miami Vice roll and the seared albacore sushi. Truly though, I have never ordered anything that I didn't absolutely love. The prices were decent and the service was fast. If you're in the area and you're looking for tasty but decently-priced Japanese cuisine, this would definitely be the place to go. Love it and I will definitely be back more often. Well, this is not a fancy place, but I really like it. I want to admit. This is geared toward an American clientele. Still, the sushi is good. However, it's really the awesome customer service that stands out to me. After church, a group of 5 of us met up for super late dinner. They closed at 9:30 or so...we arrived at 9-ish. We were the only customers at the time. This was the closest sushi joint to us. My thoughts were to try and be considerate have a quick bite and leave. I guess I didn't communicate that to my party of 5 because we kept on ordering rolls! With every roll that came out, we were served with a genuine smile. We left after dinner and as we were outside by the parking lot, they even hurried after us to give us warm tea in to go cups. That I think is stellar customer service! Now about those rolls...They were tasty. We had a lot, but these rolls distinguished themselves from the rest: -the SLUR (Salmon Lovers Ultimate Roll) -the Joey's Roll. Get them.
