    my AMAZING krunch roll

i'm not sure what all the reviews about bad service are for, every time i've come in here, it's the same couple running the store, and they are so sweet and kind. my pickup order is always ready on time and they always include ginger and wasabi with my roll! their krunch roll is my favorite crunch roll i've had thus far! and pretty cheap price for sushi, especially in this area of socal! i will 100% keep coming back here to support these great folks and their business.

Nice local place in a strip mall. Friendly service. Delicious food that came out quick. Moderate prices. Lots to choose from. Limited seating. Plenty of parking.

I stopped here one night after an appointment in Orange. It was late and close to closing, so I was the only seated guest, but I noticed they get a lot of to-go orders. It was an older couple, I'm guessing it was the owners. They were friendly. Everything I had was fresh. I also ordered the hot tea, and the woman told me it was her own special blend. It was delicious and I drank the whole pot before leaving! Thank you for a great dinner!

Wednesday August 13, 2025 I visited KAI Sushi in Orange with my wife and our baby. It had been years since we been there. After months of not being able to eat sushi due to her pregnancy, my wife asked me to take her there. I remember the place had a great ambience, was clean and most important good food. We got there around 7:30pm, the place was empty, only the owner and a cook were there. We placed our order and waited at our table. About 20 min later a girl came in and placed an order for 1 single sushi roll and asked if she could eat it there, the owner of the restaurant said "no, we close soon" (service hours are from 10am to 9pm) It was only around 8pm. In my opinion she had plenty of time to eat 1 sushi roll before 9pm. Our food arrived at our table. At first glance it looked good, the taste was good but when we asked for hot souse the owner made a face and gave us just a tiny saucer for the 4 rolls we had ordered. That was something we were willing to overlook. We finish our food and I went up to the register to pay for my meal. My total for 4 rolls and 2 can sodas came up to $69.50. I pay $70. The owner with a very demanding tone as she game me my ¢50 change asked "you don't leave tip?". I said I'll leave it at the table. I only had $2 cash in my wallet so I asked my wife if she had any cash on her. She said she had a $10 in the car, I asked my wife to wait by the table. I placed the $2 on the table and stared to walk to exit and go to the car to get the other $10. Before I could set a foot outside I hear the lady saying to my wife in a very upset tone "only $2!! That's it $2?!? You pay $70 and only give $2" My wife looked at me as if asking for help. I said "excuse me? Why are you upset!" I never told her I was gonna go get more money from the car. "That all I have in cash, I'm sorry. But if you don't want them that's okay too". She extended her hand and said "here, you go now, never come back" as she handed back my $2. Now I understand why the place was so empty, when in the past was always busy. First, telling a customer that she can't eat there because they are closing soon, when she had more than one hour till closing time. Second, demanding a tip. I always tip and my intention was to do that, but I guess she didn't have the patience to wait and find out. As she requested I will never go back to that place. There's a lot of sushi restaurants better than KAI in OC, find one, be happy and stay away from KAI.

Food and service is always nice n friendly. Food is soo good. Plenty of seating. Their Bento Box had terriyaki chicken and rice, spicy tuna roll 4pc, salad, tempura, and miso soup

    Ninja Roll

Good healthy food! I had lunch with my daughter at Kai's Sushi today. My daughter ordered ninja special roll, and I ordered combo A with chicken teriyaki, California roll, and miso soup. We both enjoyed our food. Sushi was very good with superb quality of tuna and salmon and the rice was perfectly cooked. Great service, too, and the price was good for what it was worth. I told my boss and my coworkers about it, and my boss already knew about the restaurant. She said it gets pretty busy there, and she agreed about their good food. We would definitely eat at Kai's again!

BUSINESS PERMANENTLY CLOSING 6/28/26…read more Came here with some gals for afternoon tea. It's a cute little restaurant in Old Towne Orange. It's decorated really cute inside and out! Everything was creatively planned and decorated. It was also very clean and spacious inside and out. When you go in, there's a tea sampling station with the menus so you can see which tea you would like to order. Our server was really sweet, but she was the only one serving all of the tables, so she would come by every 10-20 minutes to check on us and some things we asked for didn't make it to the table. If they had more servers, customers would be happy with quicker service. The food and tea were delish! There were 6 of us so we shared a bunch of different teas. I really enjoyed the teas they had. The sweet and savory treats were really yummy! I really enjoyed them. Each person got 5 little savory treats and 4 sweet treats. I kind of wish we got one or two more for $45, but either way they were delicious! We had a great time and were sad to learn that the business will be permanently closing down tomorrow (6/28/26), I would have loved to continue going back!

We got a variety of dishes to try out, and overall it was just ok. The soup was good but was a little light on ingredients, the papaya salad was decent with a little kick, noodles didn't really have much truffle taste but was ok, green beans were crunchy and probably the best dish here, and the mango sticky rice was not ripe. Most of the mango pieces were hard / not sweet and proportion to the rice was off. The staff was friendly and the space is very open and welcoming. Not sure if I'd come back though unless I was craving the Asian fusion tea service.

I was meeting my foodie friend there at 12:30. The parking lot has limited space, which made it an extra challenge to park. Thankfully I only had to circle the block once to come back and snag a spot. (Meanwhile, my friend got there before me and was already enjoying an appetizer). Orders are placed at the counter and they call your number once your food is ready. The dining room consists of mostly booth seating with one "communal" table, and counter seating with 5ish chairs. There are also a handful of tables set outside. I've really been enjoying banh mi and their Bulgogi beef sandwich sounded great. I also happen to have a thing for popcorn chicken, so I got an order of that to round out my lunch. Oh, and based on the rave reviews I've read about their peach & lychee green tea, I ordered one of those as well. Let me just say, lunch was very satisfying! The sandwich was generously filled the fresh ingredients and the meat to veggie ratio was perfect. I'm not sure what the green sauce was that they finished the sammie off with but it was SO tasty!! I requested the popcorn chicken with medium heat and it was just spicy enough to leave my tongue tingling slightly. My friend saved an egg roll for me and it was also really good. (The tea by the way was very refreshing.) Now, this was my first time here but I never saw anyone come out to check the dining room or wipe down the tables after the lunch rush. This was especially concerning to me because they had a guy doing work on the windows who put his feet/ shoes on the tables right under said windows. Ewww. But aside from the parking challenge and the table hygiene/cleanliness, our visit was quite enjoyable and the food was very good. We would definitely return, but we'll have to plan around the lunch rush!

Really tasty and filling 2) lemon grass chicken or pork with steamed rice: 5 stars We liked the pork one better than the chicken but the dishes were still tasty. The chicken didn't stay as tender during the meal and was kinda dry as we were eating it 3) grilled chicken fried rice: 5 stars Tasty fried rice and the grilled chicken was tender and had a nice marinade I would like to try all the other dishes but it's hard to get away from the Managers Special as $16 dishes are discounted down to $11 here. And I am SO glad we did because everything about our experience was seriously a 10/10! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was amazing. The gentleman at the front greeted us and escorted us to our table, and right away we felt welcomed and comfortable. Our server, Quang, was absolutely the sweetest! He was so friendly, outgoing, attentive, and helpful, especially when it came to giving us recommendations since it was our first time there. He had such a positive energy and really made our experience even better. And the FOOD!!! If I could give it 1,000/10, I seriously would. We tried the Ube Cloud, Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Garlic Parmesan Fries, Spicy Shrimp Wontons, Corn Ribs, Garlic Butter Prawns, and Filet Garlic Noodles, and honestly, there wasn't ONE thing we didn't enjoy. Everything was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. But what really stood out to us was that it wasn't just the food -- it was the entire experience. The staff, the atmosphere, the music, and just the overall vibe made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. The music they were playing was amazing too! My friend and I were enjoying ourselves, eating good food, listening to good music, and just having such a great time. The whole place honestly had such a warm, homey feeling to it. When we were leaving, the gentleman who had greeted and seated us earlier ended up having a whole conversation with my friend and me. He was so sweet and personable! He mentioned that they may be opening a location in Culver City, and I told him I really hope they do because that would be much closer to home for me. I was even joking with him that if they open one, they need to bring the whole staff from this location over there too because everyone here was THAT amazing. At the same time, even if there ends up being a location closer to me, I would honestly still make the drive back to this one. When you visit somewhere for the first time and have such a great experience, that location becomes special. You can visit the same restaurant somewhere else, but the people, atmosphere, and experience aren't necessarily going to feel the same. This location definitely left that kind of impression on us. I really hope this review reaches management because the staff here deserves the recognition. Everyone we interacted with was wonderful, and Quang especially took such great care of us. This was our first time at VOX Kitchen, but it DEFINITELY won't be our last. We're already talking about coming back and bringing our family and more of our friends so we can all enjoy it together. 10/10 food. 10/10 service. 10/10 atmosphere. 10/10 experience.
