Kala was one of 2 food trucks at the usher party at Segerstrom. They were offering poutine with chicken sausage, fish taco and vegetarian taco. I tried the poutine and fish taco. The initial servings were small and then they became bigger. They ran out of the fish tacos three quarters of the way. Both dishes were flavorful but nothing extraordinary. The theme of the party was Mardi Gras and so the food choices were a miss.

Really good food! Their burritos are bursting with flavor. You can't go wrong with anything they serve.

First time trying this food truck outside the Honda Center before an Anaheim Ducks versus Carolina Hurricanes hockey game. I ordered the protein bowl with carne asada which comes with pico de halló, Spanish rice, and pinto beans. I added guacamole for $2. The water at $5 was overpriced. Great portions, decent flavor, well-cooked non-fatty carne asada. Some crisp chips and medium salsa included. Very satisfying. The staff was friendly and quick.

I had a chance to try out Kala Truck when they were at the Anaheim Convention Center after being referred to them by my partner. From the menu, it looked like they had good variety of different items available. I ultimately decided to get the Surf and Turf bowl that I would share with my partner! The service was quick and easy, just like how a food truck should be. At the same time, the little interaction at the window to order was a pleasure because they had a great smile and attitude! After getting our order, I was excited to see what the hype was about from my partner who recommended me. After just 1 bite, I could tell Kala Truck was the real deal! The flavors and textures of the beans and rice with the veggies and asada and shrimp, with the melty cheese and distinct chimichurri sauce came together perfectly! The portions were generous and filling, as my partner and I were able to share one order. Definitely had a great experience eating at Kala Truck! If I had a chance to try them again, I'd definitely do it.

Would. you like your child to be served this?

Our daughter has been at our church's VBS this week and Kala Truck is her option for dinner. This is what Kala Truck served her for dinner, a cold hotdog and fries as she is Gluten Free. Sad they offer gf, but didn't have the respect for the kids to provide a gf bun. Hopefully they take more pride in the quality of the rest of their menu.

Ordered a Cali Burrito - Carne Asada for $9.50. It was disappointing because it was abnormally sour, too much lime and the meat was rough and over cooked.

    Korean BBQ beef tacos

Kala Truck was preparing Korean tacos for a weekday lunch at my work. They had a choice of chicken or beef Korean tacos, along with some fries. There was no mixing and matching and 3 tacos were provided with each order. Korean short rib tacos- Street size tacos were prepared with braised short rib, some sweet-sesame soy marinade, cabbage kimchi slaw, and scallions. All of this were served on soft corn shell tortillas. Unfortunately the braised beef was dry, and the marinade was a little muted in terms of flavor. The fries were the same size and shape of ones one might find at Mc Donald's however they weren't as crispy. Overall while the portion size was good, the tacos were disappointing taste wise.

Cali Burrito with great side salsas and chips!

Another food truck to the office - And a mighty fine one at that! I ordered the Cali burrito and oh man was it a doozy. Classic Cali burrito with the carne asada, fries, and all the fixings. Fries were fluffy yet crisp on the outside, the protein was seasoned to perfection, and the condiments in the burrito all complemented each other so well. You'd think that a combination of all these things would leave you feeling greasy and disgusted, but it really was delicious, had all the flavor you could want yet didn't leave you feeling ashamed. The side salsas provided had a nice spicy, acidic kick that helps cut through the unctuousness. Definitely going back next time Kala Truck makes a stop at my office!

This truck was at 4675 MacArthur today and saved the day. My taco plate was hot, fresh rice and beans and it was seasoned very well. I've recommended it to my coworkers and would ditch a homemade lunch if I saw this downstairs again It was about $9 for this taco plate, very comparable pricing to a lot of places, the plate was very filling too

    carnitas loaded fries

CARNITAS. LOADED. FRIES. It was loaded! We get a lot of food trucks near our workplace and it's usually more misses than hits; however, Kala Truck was a hit! The loaded fries was delicious and reasonably priced. Most of their menu items were 10-12$. At the time, they had 4 items on their menu, which I appreciate because it's not about the quantity. So, onto the fries- they were seasoned, which are my favorite because it stands up on its own. You can pick the fries below the bowl without the toppings and they're already super flavorful. They were pretty generous on the carnitas serving. I enjoyed how the carnitas are fried after it has been slow cooked because I prefer the fried, chewier texture. The toppings were drizzled sour cream and salsa verde with pico de gallo (has bits of jalapeños- yum). A side of house sauce, which is a creamy chipotle comes with the order. There were also salsa bottles on the truck you can assemble to take with you. The creamy avocado sauce was my favorite of the 3. I can't wait until this food truck rolls around our office again!

Start cleaning out underneath your table pushing you out as fast as they can. The bar just closes down not even announcing a last call. And what is with those awful margaritas. I can't believe that a Michelin feathered Mexican restaurant can serve such awful margaritas. And I am not alone as I mentioned it to another Restaurant crowd and they agreed and said they were probably the worst margaritas in Orange. I don't know whether it's the mix or the amount of alcohol or what it is but they come out watery and really sour. A totally good dining experience has to encompass everything, food is only 50% of the deal the other 50% is service with a smile, and this one lacks it. Now there could be a reason for this epic shutdown at 9 PM. But I wonder what it is? Santa Monica seafood in Santa Monica on Wilshire Boulevard has to have last orders in by 8:30 because if they are not closed out by 10 o'clock entirely, the neighbors complain that they are putting out trash and making a noise after 10 so that I understand. But it took me a year to find that out from the owners. Restaurant owners are so stuck up and anal, I know I was one. Gabbi, whom I have never seen, should spend a night or two watching her Restaurant closing up.

The beans did not taste watered down, and the enchiladas themselves were flavorful. I always worry about shrimp overpowering the sides of a dish but it tasted great. The rice was also really filling. We had a reservation and they seated us at a pretty big table, which I liked. The servers were very timely, kind, and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu and the rotating specials. The inside of the restaurant was HUGE. I'm pretty sure it was built inside of a church. I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had to get a Diet Coke and of course, it was crisp to my expectations. A little heads-up, unlike the Costa Mesa location, they do not have horchata. But once again one has this perfunctory service, that is service that is merely to get through a night and not to enhance a dining experience. So many restaurants now seem to have the same problem, that is servers who just want to get through the evening and get it over with. The service industry has really taken a dive since my day. I don't get it. Don't they get paid more than they used to just a year or two ago. Anyway, I do enjoy the Camerones. But, the dreadful flan that I was served. This is such a basic desert and very easy to make, but one can overcook the egg proteins easily and the whole thing is grainy, scrambled and not pleasant to eat. The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well.
