First Time at Maui Lobster King!…read more George and I stopped by Maui Lobster King in Kihei for the first time, and it was a fantastic lunch experience! We arrived right around 2:00 PM--perfect timing to catch that sweet spot between the lunch and dinner rush. The restaurant was incredibly clean on the inside, it wasn't busy at all, and we were seated immediately. (Bonus: If you're in a rush, they have a convenient dedicated counter right by the front for takeout orders!) The Details & Sides I have to give a shout-out to the presentation. George didn't think the branded logo accessories were necessary, but personally, I love logos! The more the better--especially when you're taking food photos, because everyone immediately knows where you are. We also tried the fries, which came out hot, crunchy, and served in an adorable mini fry basket. They were served plain, which is probably a smart move to keep salt from falling through the holes in the basket and making a mess on the way from the kitchen, but I definitely would have preferred them salted! George's Seafood Combo George ordered the seafood combo loaded with shrimp, snow crab, and king crab, which he thought was an excellent price for the amount of food you get. For his seasoning, he went with all the flavors combined and kicked it up to spicy. The Flavor: The spice level was pretty mild and manageable, leaning a bit more on the sweeter side, which was really tasty. The Seafood: He was seriously impressed with how perfectly everything was cooked--neither the snow crab nor the king crab were overcooked at all. The shrimp was absolutely delicious. The Sides & Sauce: The sweet corn and red potatoes soaked up the sauce beautifully. The sausage was good, though we both thought it would be next-level if they pan-fried it for a second before throwing it into the boil to give it a little extra color and texture! Overall, a super clean spot, great service, and perfectly cooked seafood. We'll definitely be back! XOXO, ChelsieFletcher

It comes with two scoops of rice and a small Mac salad. I will tell you that the garlic shrimp was some of the best I have ever had! I wish the shrimp were already peeled though because a lot of the garlic flavor and sauce was on the shell. I would order it again and again though. If you like shrimp get this! The Mac salad was one of the better Mac salads we had on our trip but it was still kind of average in my opinion. There were some little crunchy bits under the shrimp that was so flavorful when mixed with the rice. The chicken musubi was a big miss for me. Too much rice and not enough sauce. The service was fast and efficient. I would recommend coming here and would gladly come back. This place is reasonably priced for what you get.

Okay, I could eat here daily…read more The line was long, but it gave us plenty of time to study their billboard-sized menu. We ordered the two fish tacos and an order of coconut shrimp. The fish tacos were massive. The fish had good flavor, although it leaned a little on the dry side for me. The coconut shrimp, however, were my favorite thing we tried. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We happened to arrive between their two happy hour windows, and while looking at the menu, we noticed that coconut shrimp were also available during the second happy hour along with other small plates. What I found odd was their happy hour policy. Apparently, you can only order from the happy hour menu if you've already purchased an entree and can show your receipt. I've never encountered that anywhere else, and it seemed like a strange business concept. Also, it is not posted anywhere that I saw. When my husband went back to order from the happy hour menu, the cashier asked if we had previously ordered food. He said yes, but our receipt was back at the table. For some reason, she had to go to the back to get approval before allowing him to order. It felt a bit awkward, especially since she was the same cashier who had taken our original order when we first arrived and we asked a bunch of questions, so I would def remember someone like me. lol That policy aside, the coconut shrimp were fantastic. I'd definitely come back for those alone.

The fish was so flavorful, and the mango salsa added the perfect tang to the taste - Coconut Shrimp Appetizer - Perfect crunch shrimp that came with a zesty Thai chili pineapple sauce - Fish and Chips - Lightly breaded and well seasoned I wish the restaurant was a bit cooler (they had AC on but the windows were open?), but the food itself made it worth the visit and one of our top spots during the trip.

The Maui Shrimp truck is the back half of the panel truck with Maui Burgers being the front half. The touchscreen order board is convenient, but a little insensitive to touch, having to tap multiple times in certain places. I got a double portion of the Lemon Pepper Garlic Shrimp with an extra scoop of rice to soak up the sauce and an order of onion rings from the Maui Burger side of the business. My BIL wanted the Cajun Shrimp, but only a single order. We took it to go to eat back at the condo because I was not going to share with the feral chickens patrolling the dining tables. I have to say that the Cajun Shrimp had way better flavor than the Lemon Pepper, which was pretty mild. The double portion of shrimp was pretty massive with very plump shrimp. The panko coated onion rings were incredibly crunchy, even when brought back to our condo and came with 2 dipping sauces. We can't wait to go back to Maui just to have some food truck shrimp again!

Since it is a food truck, there is not too much to say about it other than it has a touchscreen to order and is split into two concepts. Half the truck is blue for Maui Shrimp and the other half is red for Maui Burgers. For dinner on this evening I went with the sweet chili mango shrimp and added a scoop of rice while my father went with the Makawao burger. The menu described mine as fresh local mango, bell peppers, and sautéed onions caramelized in a sweet chili sauce with an option for hot or mild. My father's was described as Swiss, bacon, onions, mushrooms, and garlic aioli. Our food came out relatively quickly and when I opened the container I loved how colorful the dish looked. Since I was hungry, I dove right in. It ended up being absolutely delicious, mostly because of the sauce. It was super garlicky with a ton of flavor and the mango added the perfect amount of sweetness. There were nine shrimp and they were cooked well with a nice natural sweetness. I also appreciated the bell peppers and onions as I feel like I do not always get enough vegetables while in Hawaii. My dad also really enjoyed his burger and even said unprompted that it was one of the better burgers he has had lately. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my dad and I enjoyed our food and if they bottled that sauce, I would absolutely buy it.

All the tables were full of tourist families - it was good vibes, the tables separated by white sheer curtains giving it a little elegance. There was a lot of mahi on the menu! Their liquor selection was more limited than I'd think - so I skipped a cocktail. I got the Mac crusted mahi - sadly it was flavorless and the sauce was cold. I called and asked them for directions and they actually guided us. They were also really patient in explaining the menu to us and explaining the different types of fish and what not. Really glad we were patient and actually came here! Such a lovely aesthetic to the whole area and the food. Oh my goodness!!! The burst of flavor in everything was phenomenal! Such unique combinations and everything was so fresh and cooked so well and just mind blowing! Husband and I kept saying how we should have just gone there multiple times for food! Mahi Mahi Bento bowl with Ono instead. (It has Crispy Sushi Rice / Black Garlic / Market Vegetables) I really have no words to see how good this combination was! I was actually a little full going into dinner but ended up actually wiping this whole plate clean! The food was that good! Husband got the Roasted Organic Chicken With Coconut with Coconut Carrot Curry and Roasted Vegetables. Very different vibe from my item but also really delicious. Heat thoroughly enjoyed this one! The chicken was perfectly cooked and the carrot coconut curry combination with the vegetables and the chicken was lovely. He kept some leftovers for the next day because the chicken portion size was quite huge and we enjoyed it even the next day! Seaweed salad was also delicious! Super fresh and tasty!

I'm not sure I've had, or will have, a better meal on Maui. It was named one of the top local spots last year, and that recognition feels completely deserved. Set at the far end of South Maui Gardens, the outdoor seating gives it a relaxed but special ambiance. For our 30th anniversary, my wife and I shared the smoked tomahawk steak family-style, along with black garlic roasted rice, pickled carrots and onions, and a roasted vegetable medley with a beautiful spice mix. Every bite was outstanding -- perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and clearly crafted with intention. We finished with the lilikoi meringue pie, which was just as impressive and a perfect way to end the meal. Maui has some incredible dining experiences, and Kitoko stands comfortably among the very best -- food truck or not. If you're looking for a truly memorable dinner on the island, don't miss this one.
