I ordered one of their specials, the iced brown sugar rosemary latte, and it was good overall--very rich and smooth. That said, I didn't really pick up on the brown sugar or rosemary flavors. They had good pastries too, including zucchini bread that you can't find at the one Seattle chain. On my way back to the hotel, I decided to grab a latte. Unlike an hour and a half ago when I stopped to buy a gift card, most of the tables were occupied. Fortunately, the community table had plenty of available seats. While ordering the latte, I decided to get a chocolate chip banana bread. The banana bread was served immediately, while the latte took about 10 minutes. The banana bread was loaded with chocolate chips, so it was hard not to bite into one. On a recent trip to St. Louis, I must've visited Kaldi's 6 or 7 times. I actually was here once before a few years back. With our hotel within walking distance this became my morning coffee run and a place to get work done on my laptop. Kaldi's is BUSY pretty much at all hours of the day. They're open from 7am-3pm and I never saw the place at less than half capacity. They serve coffee, tea, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, pastries and a few lunch items. Truly something for everyone. I mostly stuck with my typical iced Americano or hot drip coffee, but the coffee is solid here considering they roast their own. The breakfast sandwich is wonderful and probably one of the best in STL. Soft bun, fried eggs with crispy edges, so friggin' good! This is definitely a working coffee shop, so expect to see lots of laptops and expect to sit fairly close to someone next to. If I'm STL, Kaldi's is on the list! read more

My drink was aromatic and held a bold coffee flavor, but was lightened nicely by the frothiness of the milk. Overall it was the perfect drink for me on this chilly day. I have visited this particular location many times to get together with friends, as well as come to study or get work done. The coffee and food are good, but the environment is diminished by the non-customers smoking weed by the door. The entire dining area filled with the smell every time the door opened. Then the person came inside to check on the phone he left charging, and stared uncomfortably at a woman nearby. It wouldn't have been the easiest thing to deal with, but completely ignoring the situation (as the employees did) is also not great. read more

I bought a small regular coffee. The board says it is 12 ounces, but it looks smaller than that. It cost $3.50 which is more than a Starbucks small size. The worst part was when I asked for a refill and they charged me another $3.50. At Starbucks I can get a free refill if I get the coffee for dine in. I'm from St. Louis and I really want to support local businesses but the cost at Kaldi's is just not worth it. read more

Whenever I am in St. Louis I hit up Kaldi's. Solid coffee in a very pleasant setting at the Central West End location. Stopped in for coffee and a quick breakfast. I got a classic cold brew and the breakfast bowl. That bowl was delicious. Healthy breakfast that was actually good and filling. The sweet potatoes and quinoa worked well together. My Daughter had her unwrapped breakfast burrito which looked yummy with an iced vanilla latte. It is a cute place to sit and chitchat or do some work. There is plenty of seating. The coffee is good as well, but the service is lacking. I ordered a simple mocha and had to wait more than 10 minutes until I finally said something, and I saw that the drink was half finished. By the time I got it, it was lukewarm. I was in a hurry, so didn't ask them to remake it. The staff had been in the back socializing for some reason with no urgency. This greatly needs to be addressed. read more

First off, GREAT place to study. The window seats are so great for people watching and have plenty of outlets. The bigger tables inside the cafe are great for groups as well. Staff are super friendly and don't make you feel bad for staying a long time, which is always appreciated. Coffee has always not been my favorite- not unique to this location but kaldi's in general. I may be alone in this opinion, though.Their breakfast items have always hit the spot though! Parking is always a challenge in central west end and you either end up paying and then having to go back to the meter and repay every 2 hours or end up parking far away. In the fall, I have a weakness for pumpkin spiced-anything. I was thrilled to see that Kaldi's had a dedicated specialty menu which included a Baked Pumpkin spice Maple Latte, a Pistachio Honey Latte, and a Pumpkin Chai latte! We went for the baked pumpkin spice and the pistachio honey. We decided to grab breakfast too and appreciated the gluten-free options. The breakfast bowl consisted of a bed of quinoa topped with avo, sweet potato, candied bacon and a fried egg. The crustless quiche was cheesy and served with a side of sweet potatoes and salsa with a nice kick. The best thing we ate though had to be the gooey butter cake. We heard it was a St. Louis staple and couldn't pass up the opportunity to try it. It had a crackly, crispy crust. Every sweet, gooey bite was more addicting than the last. We had come for the coffee and fell in love with the gooey butter cake. Many locations to choose from. We accidentally went to the vegan store for our first time but it did not disappoint. The egg bagel was delicious, even with the impossible sausage. Bagel was crisp and the peppers added an additional taste. I did get it with bacon once and the bacon was very flavorful and somewhat candied. The lattes are very good. Just a tad bit expensive. I visited St. Louis for a week during the Fall and I stopped in here with my cousin for a quick pick-me-up while exploring the Central West End neighborhood. We ordered cappuccinos and I got a pumpkin loaf (I think) and it was just such a relaxing moment to enjoy away from the busy street. People were working here and having meet-ups with friends and it was a mixed aged group too. The staff was very friendly the food/drinks super fresh--it was definitely a good choice for us when we needed to recharge our batteries.
