The food has never been a strong suit for me as someone with texture issues. The wrap i got was buffalo cauliflower and avocado. It was too wet. The lettuce didn't make sense under the wet buffalo sauce and the avocado was too much together and soggy to eat. Sweetart is so dang delicious. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I do enjoy their offerings. The spot itself is cozy and brightly lit with quotes and art adorning the walls. It's a very welcoming atmosphere. You order at the counter, and I was in the mood for a burger and fries. I got the throwback burger with the sweet burger patty. When SweetArt was still at their old location, I had been wanting to try but never made it. Now that their new location is right down the street from me, I had no excuse not to check it out! I visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2 PM. My partner and I had just eaten a big lunch nearby, so we were looking for some sweet treats to share. Safe to say that SweetArt had plenty of options for us! I absolutely love what they've done with the interior. My partner used to live in the apartments above, and their restaurant area had been sitting vacant for years and years. Knowing what it used to look like, they've totally transformed the space. I'm so happy to see that it was given a new life. I think this will be a perfect spot for SLU students to hang out and get some work done. There's so many great seating options, and it really does feel like a bright and welcoming space where you just want to sit down and stay awhile. They also have lots of outdoor seating with huge umbrellas for some nice shade. After much debate, my partner and I selected four bakery items to try. We had a double chocolate pistachio orange cookie, a classic chocolate chip cookie, a chai snickerdoodle cookie, and a chocolate cupcake. The chocolate cupcake was by far our favorite. It looks just like a Hostess cupcake but tastes about a gazillion times better! Seriously so good, and I don't think you can come here without trying one yourself. The chocolate chip cookie was pretty good. I liked the contrast of the salt on top with the sweetness of the cookie. The double chocolate pistachio orange took me by surprise! The orange flavor really came out in the aftertaste, and it was one of the most unique cookies I've ever tried. Went to SweetArt bakery for brunch. My son started with the cinnamon roll which absolutely rocked. I had the sausage sandwich and my wife had the chicken sandwich both were delicious. My daughter had the oyster mushrooms with Mac and cheese and side salad. I tried the mushrooms and I will have that next time. They were perfect. They have ALOT of kinks to work out like the wait time, the staff, cleanliness etc. and it's understandable being in a new space. It's a bit hard to find, the place was not sparkling clean (not filthy either), the person at the register had really offensive body odor, and we had to wait 1.5 hours for the food. But when we got the food EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING we ordered was bomb!! That's why I am giving a 5 star review. Solely based on the food. This place has some of the best food in St. Louis. There's cinnamon rolls are to die for along with their various tacos and breakfast items. I haven't tried everything on their menu, but I've never had anything that wasn't either good or great. It's all delicious, freshly made, and they never disappoint. We came into town to visit family, but came here first so ended up waiting about 40 minutes for food. If we would've just came in for desserts the and left the rating would've been higher. We ordered all our food at the same time, when I went back up to the counter to get my cookies and they accidentally gave my order to another customer who was gone. They still had enough of what I ordered to recreate my order. They do a lot of cooking and brunch options on Sundays, so we came in from brunch items and could not get any of those items. My son didn't care for his kids meal, but liked the chips. My husband enjoyed the tacos, but said that the Jamaica one needed more seasoning, was too blame and the Sonia was too spicy but he liked it. My fired mushrooms were nice and crispy but had no seasoning. The mac-n-cheese had a weird chipotle type flavor that was not pleasing to me. The kale was fresh, but the dressing on it was icky to me. Finally got a chance to try this famous Sweet Art. After seeing their Netflix show and being a native to the city, I still can not believe it took me this long to try this place. After my manager suggested we order here for a work lunch, I was excited and changed my order several times before I settled on the Maya Angelou plate. I enjoyed the cashew mackin cheese and the kale salad. The chickin strips were okay but could have had some more seasoning. The BBQ sauce helped. Yeah this place has really fallen off over the years. I've tried over and over to give them a chance since my last post but I see too many changes i don't really care for. My latest visit just did it 1 I'm really having serious doubts if it still African American owned. There was a non Black man there that the employees keep calling boss. 2 they sell alcoholic beverages now. 3 the brownies used to be the best but now there is salt in them and are trash 4 the chocolate chip cookies had salt in them .trash 5 . I love everything ginger and they have a ginger kiss cookie. After having it earlier this year and immediately in a choke hold, I went back but learned it was a seasonable offering. After a painstaking wait, the cookie returned and I grabbed a couple to enjoy. Such disappointment. The cookie was unusually salty! Chalking it up to a fluke, I went back yesterday. The dark, chocolatey Fauxstess was calling to me. I can spot a delicious cupcake and know for sure that it's delicious -- it's one of my many talents. And I knew that this one was delicious. I was right! (Of course I was.) The Fauxstess cupcake is SweetArt's interpretation of a Hostess cupcake, but it's infinitely better. The cake is soft and moist, there's just a touch of cream in the middle, and the top chocolate glaze is shiny and smooth. It's a great cupcake and I wanted to eat half a dozen of them. Instead, I just got one and then also got a chocolate chip cookie sprinkled with sea salt. The CCC is a litmus test when visiting a new bakery: If the CCC is good, then the place is good. This cookie was great! Which according to my calculations, makes SweetArt great. This place was extremely busy when I visited on a random Wednesday afternoon. There was a steady flow of customers, but I didn't have to wait long at all to get my items. They have indoor seating and a few tables outside, too. The people who work here are very friendly and positive, and this place just has nice vibes. I have gone to the new and very convenient location of Sweetarts on Lindell three times. The space is big and nicely set up. The food is delicious and there is a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options. Naming dishes after authors is a very nice and literary touch. Each time I have gone, the service has not been excellent. The food takes at least 20-30 minutes to arrive. There are no printed menus, and the screen goes too quickly to figure out what we want to order. It would be nice if an explanation or apology is offered when there are hiccups like this. read more
