This store is one of my favorite stores to stock up on Eastern European goodies. The store is clean and fully stocked with fresh items (I know expiration dates can be an issue at some of these stores). What sets them apart is their extensive beverage offering, their deli counter, freshly baked cakes (yay for Medovik) and their prepared items such as Olivier, chebureki, galuptsi (cabbage rolls) although they don't give you the sauce, and of course piroshki. The folks working there are courteous and helpful and will gladly suggest and explain the different meats. No tastings at the deli, unfortunately. Prices for regular goods are comparable to nearby stores but their prepared dishes tend to be a bit on the higher side. Other than that, this place is great and will likely have what your heart desires.

The good: I was excited to see that there was a Russian store not too far from me. This isn't the largest one I've been to but there aren't many in this city so this is as good as it gets! They have most of everything you might look for including deli meats, cheeses, pastries, cookies, candies, canned foods, alcohol and bread. I tried two of their medovik-type cakes, sour cherry juice and brown kefir from here. The kefir was nice and the flavor reminds me of sour cream. I thought the medovik would be made in house but I am not sure if they are shipped from somewhere else based on the packaging. One of them had a honeybee made of sugar on it while the other was lighter in color and may have been something else besides medovik. I liked the darker one better because it had more flavor. The sour cherry juice was almost $5 and came in a super pretty glass bottle I've never seen before. The bad: The lighter colored medovik-like cake was sweet and lacked a distinguishable flavor. The interesting: My husband told me that the store name is the national fruit symbol of Russia.

2/3/20 This is a great international market with selections from various countries. I came here for the ready made dishes like borscht, chicken patties, salads, and those delicious cakes. Make sure you try a slice of spartak or medovney cake, you won't regret it! So yummy!!

Was delighted to find this Russian store with great reviews and raves about their cakes. They did not have the honey cake but they did have a chocolate cake which was great. Also picked up some unique chocolate which was really good. They were staffed by some very friendly, helpful young ladies.

They also gave many varieties of hot beverages, sweet and savory scones and sweet and savory croissants. There are also a lot of different pastries. This would be a great place to have a small relaxing breakfast. There are several places inside to enjoy your goodies. Both desserts, that I purchased, were so delicious. I will definitely come here again to try other items.

I filled out the form on their website a couple of weeks before my husband birthday, and noticed that their prices had increased recently. The regular 6" black sesame blueberry hojicha cost $55. Megan responded in email within 2 days as expected. Her payment instructions were very clear, and we agreed to meet at their designated community park at 10am on Sunday. (They would also do delivery with an additional cost.) An hour before our meeting time, she sent a text with the make/model/color of their car, as well as, some dessert care instructions. They arrived on time. The cake was carefully packaged and included a "Happy Birthday" paper topper. The cake was really good. It was fresh and airy; the black sesame taste really stood out; the blueberry jam was delicious and not too sweet; the hojicha fresh cream was light and flavorful. They do have seasonal flavors that they rotate in-and-out. We ordered: - Lavender Mille Crepe: Excellent. A nice lavender fragrant flavor that's slightly sweet. The best one in my opinion - Yuzu Matcha Mille Crepe: Very good. A hint of you with citrus along with mild matcha flavor. Ranked 2nd of the list. - Amedei Chocolate Mille Crepe: Good. Chocolate isn't too sweet and you can taste mild chocolate flavor. - Mont Blanc: Good. The chestnut on top melts in your mouth. The only downside is their crepe cakes are pricey. It used to be $10/slice (for regular flavors) and they raised it 20% to $12/slice before. The 20% increase is too much. We used to come much more often but cut it down due to the 20% increase. Now they somehow lowered it $0.5 to $11.50/slice but some are still $15/slice. It's over $115+ to get the whole cake. They don't have a price tag in front of the cake, so you'll have to ask. Wish they put a price tag in front of the cake to provide more transparency on pricing and make it easier for us without having to ask for the price for the slices (different flavor has different price). Removing one star for it.

The seasonal flavours are often out of stock as well, but I can understand because they are often quite well balanced and refreshing. I prefer picking out whole cakes and slices here because the cafe isn't particularly comfortable. You can also preorder cakes online, which I do recommend if you're worried about them running out of a particular flavour.

You Guava be Kidding Me…read more A bakery and juicery that has been serving up delicious Colombian specialties since 1999 in Colombia, before emigrating to the US and opening up shop here in Cambrian Park in 2014. Milohas (mil hojas) means a thousand layers in Spanish, and one taste of Milohas' pastries will make you understand why they picked that moniker. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Friendly service * Covered outdoor dining * The crust of the empanadas was buttery, flaky, and delicious. All the fillings were good, but you have to try the Hawaiian filling! It was truly fantastic and had us wishing that's all we'd ordered. * Guava Finger has the same perfect crust and tasty guava jam--I could eat a dozen of these and come back for more. *oink oink* * Carissa really enjoyed their lentil soup. I didn't try it, so I can't comment. The Meh: * I kind of prefer the chunks of meat in Peruvian empanadas to the ground meat in Colombian ones, but that's just a personal preference. It was still delicious, so at the end of the day, it's all academic. The Ugly: * No indoor dining, and outdoor dining is limited to only a handful of seats. Conclusion: We've been on the hunt for the best empanadas in the South Bay, and we finally found them.

I wanted to get some desert items but they seemed to have very few things to choose from. I would have asked questions but inside the store was strangely loud and the woman who helped me was a low talker so I couldn't understand anything she was saying to me as it was. The empanadas are pretty large, as are the prices. $17 for the two. At this price point I was glad I decided not to buy more. Each comes with a tiny side of aji green sauce. They could have been more generous here. I found the spinach to be very salty and more breading than filling. The chicken one was a letdown. Chicken was lacking any flavor. For both the pastry was dry. Was only able to eat half of each and threw the rest away. Not really the kind of place you dine in for. You order at the counter and there is limited seating inside (in a way that makes you not want to dine in), and a few seats outside. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. This visit and subsequent review makes me feel sad. I want to support these unique, independent eateries but they make it difficult when the quality doesn't meet the high cost. Improvements would be to reevaluate their recipes, make the pastries less dry and dense, and maybe don't be so skimpy on the fillings.
