Mid quality poke with hefty portions. This is just personal opinion but I think crab salad, seaweed salad, edamame that they put as sides should just be toppings. I got spicy tuna and salmon but one thing that threw me off was the spicy tuna wasn't put on the side as a scoop like most places but rather mixed in a bowl. I think they should ask the customers if they would want their bowls mixed because not everyone likes it mixed. Not a big deal tho. I wish they had sushi rice an option. this is by far one of the best poke places around, and I come here at least once every two weeks. Everyone here is so kind and nice, and are always willing to give me extra pineapple. Today at 11:20AM the lady before me was being extremely rude and monotone with the workers. After working years in customer service, I know how those customers can really affect your day. Despite her attitude, the workers in there were super nice and sweet. Just wanted to point that out cause people really don't acknowledge the bs customers will do and have an expectation that the customer can do whatever and the workers have to deal with it. Good place to go for poke. The first time I tried them, I didn't pick the best options for my bowl. I went with salad greens as my base, mild shoyu for the sauce, and only one type of fish for the 3 scoops in my bowl. There was a large quantity of greens taken out of a plastic bag for my bowl and I felt they tasted plain. The mild shoyu sauce didn't have much flavor. I did think the option of pineapple for a topping was interesting but was unsure if it would taste good with the poke. The next time I went, I asked for the pineapple and it was a good addition - I would go with this again. I had the brown rice as a base, which was much better than the greens. For the sauce, I chose shoyu and had sesame oil added. I went for tuna, salmon, and shrimp. In both visits the fish tasted fresh. My second time around was a better and more flavorful experience. The two kids working there were very friendly to the two guys in front of me. So for her to just walk past me twice and point at me was rude. And both of them just seeing who was going to help me first is the worst customer service. Server was very kind and helpful explaining their popular sauces and recommendations. The other poke places I have gone to in Santa Barbara are 1/2 the size and a good 2-3 dollars more expensive. It is a very small joint, so it is understandable that the line was out the door. This is my first time writing a food review on yelp. I am local, and I use to lived in Hawaii. If you are looking for Hawaiian type poke, this is nothing like it, this is just something look like poke. Ok, I was craving poke, and I accepted the fact that this won't taste like the real one, but I am ok with it. Poke bowl really should be just the poke(fish) and rice. But omg, the white rice tasted like rubber, way too dry!! Then I told the young kid in the back, he gave me some brown rice, and the brown rice tasted even worse!! The brown rice was uncooked and extremely dry. I thought the white rice was so bad, but the brown rice was even worse! Although the boy apologized but I saw him continuously serving the same rubber and uncooked rice to all the other customers. This is what happened if the owner is not in the store, the workers will keep serving all the bad foods to the customers and they don't care. Because they are not the one who eating them and they are not the one who pay for it. They definitely don't care if the customer leaves a bad review. The workers in the back need to be trained how to make some rice. So disappointing. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for years and this is officially the end of Kamea. The last few times we have gone, the quality of fish just keeps getting worse and worse. I couldn't even finish my bowl tonight the fish gave me the ick. They have also significantly raised their price. A regular bowl was $13.95 last summer and today it's $17.95!!
