I loved, loved, loved this place! My friend and I ate at least one meal almost every day of our trip. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the awesome, funky, eclectic decor. The owner spent time in Bali and the place just explodes with a bohemian, artsy, Balinese vibe - statues of Buddha and Ganesha, hanging lamps, mirrors, wind chimes, colorful pillows, and artwork cover almost every inch. The tables are all vintage sewing tables and the chairs are an array of different styles. The one large wooden table in the center has a colorful sofa with fluffy pillows along one side and makes the perfect place for a large group or family. The place has an open airy feel, with some seating in an open vestibule/entry. If you are mosquito-phobic you might want to spray yourself prior to coming here. I didn't get bitten, but I'm sure if the weather is particularly humid the mosquitos would have a field day. Also, it is not air conditioned, although we counted seven fans blowing from every corner. We had mild weather but on a very hot humid day, it's probably a bit uncomfortable. The place also serves as a boutique and there are cabinets filled with jewelry and other items for sale, as well as a little room off the side which is filled with vintage clothing. OK enough about the amazing look and feel of the place - now to the menu. Every meal I had here was delish! The veggie burger was one of the best I every had and their shakes are to die for, although if you are adding additional items, you might want to ask what the price will be before ordering because they can be pricey. Iced latte - yummy! Scrambled omelette - yummy! Fresh croissant and jam - simple, but yummy! My friend had the scrumptious pancakes and the were served with slices of bananas arranged in a smiley face on top. So cute! And they were scrumptious!
Some other reviewers mentioned the slow service - well, yes, it can be slow. But with so much to look at and such a pleasant ambiance, I hardly noticed that. If you're very hungry, or if you are from a place where you are used to being served quickly, I'm sure it would be annoying. My friend waited a solid 10 minutes for one waitress to bring a croissant. (We are from NYC so quick service is an essential). The wait staff were all super nice, friendly, talkative types and that made the slow service seem unimportant (to me, anyway). You got the feeling they would be happy to pull up a chair and join you for a chat, rather than take your order and get your food! But that was one of the things I loved about it - it put you immediately into island time! Hector and Luis were two of our wait staff and they, as well as all the other staff, greet you with a big ola and a smile, making you immediately feel welcome and at home. The owner told us that they are planning to make a B&B above the place and I can't wait to see what she does with that! There is also a bar right behind the cafe (not part of Kamoli) and you can literally make an entire night of it eating and then sitting out back drinking the night away. We didn't go there, but there were always a group of people milling about and talking with beers and drinks in hand. I cant say enough good things about this place and I cannot wait to go back! On my next trip I will definitely stay at the rooms above and blissfully roll out of bed each morning for the iced latte and smoothie waiting for me below! read more
