My husband and I stopped in about 45. inures before closing. They told us it would be about a 10 minute wait and we waited 20 minutes. 35 minutes later (almost closing time) there is no chef, or food, or server in sight. my Husband ran out of drink and I was waiting to try and order soy beans. When the chef came out he did not know which food went to which person. My husband ordered double rice and double veggies and th4 chef did not portion out his seizes on the rice to give my husband double and when my husband asked for his second serving of vegetables the chef said "if there are extra" then we informed him that he got double. The lady beside us ordered her steak well done and when the steaks were done she asked if she can have hers medium rare. he then cut up my husbands steak and gave it to her and gave my husband the overdone steak. he ran out of butter for the shrimp and they were burnt. did not see our server still , we will. it be returning, and I've been coming here for years read more

My daughter and I really enjoyed dinner here. The restaurant was clean and pleasant. My daughter ordered the sushi and she loved it. I ordered the chicken fried rice dinner and probably the best rice I have ever had. Little girl doing the doordash orders needs to watch that attitude. Not even a greeting just straight to being an A-Hole to me. Constant issues here whether picking up orders or eating here so today was the final straw. I won't be taking my business there again as well as not picking up doordash orders from there. This is my first visit here...on Father'sDay. It was busy but we were seated right away cause we opted out of the hibachi table. They had plenty of seats just in the dining area. You can order pretty much any hibachi but without the show. I thought the service was a bit slow. I understand it was a busy night but you see our waitress at other tables but ours. The food was okay. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst. I had the Tokyo steak and it was okay. I thought the veggies were a bit burnt for my taste. I don't know, i guess it wasn't our night. I felt like our server didn't really care for our table. I didn't appreciate her chitchating next to our table with the other server. Its not really what you do in front of the costumer. Also the table next to us left and no one cleaned the table. They just left the dirty dishes. I was a bit annoyed with the flies too. It really sucks to have flies flying around and you are busy shooing during your meal. I think i just saw a lot of small issues. Again it wasn't our night. When we were ready to pay, the wait again...i saw our server with other tables before return with the change... I don't know if I will ever return. Called a little after 6:30 to place a to-go order and ended up waiting a whole hour for the food. They told me 20-30 min after I called so I went in around 7 and waited an extra 30 minutes inside just for them to forget silverware with my TO-GO order AND yum yum sauce, napkins, basically just the food and rushed me out. So I had to go back inside after I realized I was missing every essential needed and by the time I finally had everything, the food was cold. Paid almost 40 dollars for this experience so I was really disappointed. The food is overall usually good and the dining services are usually good but if you are ever in the slightest bit of a rush don't EVER call in your order. My family and I decided to lunch at Kani House after a pleasant morning of shopping. It was evident immediately that the hibachi chef was incompetent. The entire experience went downhill from there. The food was not prepared properly. The steak was over cooked and the scallops and vegetables were burned. The final blow was my sukiyaki was not cooked at all. It was actually cold! When I complained to the server, she apologized and said they would recook. I declined and said I just wanted not to be charged. She agreed and did not charge for my meal, but our bill ended up being almost $100 for a terrible meal for everyone. In my opinion the entire meal should have been gratis. Oh and the cook was muttering under his breath while I was speaking with the server. We will never return to Kani House! read more

These hibachi restaurants are so overrated. It's okay. Steak was a bit tough. Chicken was just okay. Shrimp was good. Filet mignon was good but not the best quality. The grilled veggies were great! The sushi was pretty average. Not terrible but not great enough to rave about either. An average meal for 2 adults and 1 child ran us about 60 bucks or so. A little much, don't you think? Service is also not that great. The hostesses were very polite & friendly. But the waitresses weren't that great. The service wasn't terrible but they could be at least a little more friendly. We had to ask for items at least 3 times before they remembered to bring it out. Overall, Kani House is just another hibachi restaurant. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. But I'm not saying that you shouldn't give it a try if you haven't yet. The experience that you will have will depend on the staff that serves you. Some better than others. read more

I've been to a lot of hibachi places. I'm not a big fan, but I always seem to end up at one at least a couple of times a year. This is probably the worst customer service and hibachi entertainment I've experienced. I don't like asking for things, but it's a restaurant! I felt as if asking for something was a huge burden on them. I've only received terrible service like this on the Dutch side of st maartin. I don't really care for the hibachi entertainment, but there were kids in our party and the guy was pretty much just cooking silently. No amusing tricks for the little ones. Party poopers. I wanted to try the sushi before ordering a bowl of chirashi, but I guess they forgot about my sushi because they brought it out after I asked again 30 min later when the hibachi guy came out. So much for an appetizer. The sushi wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I might come back here if it's close by for a quick sushi fix. I didn't end up getting the chirashi, but the filet mignon at other hibachi places was better. They didn't use the butter :( My family seems to like it though for the most part. So, I suppose you can take my review with a grain of salt. read more

Food was good, the servers nice. We were the only ones at the hibachi table, so the entertainment was very short. He did a total of 3 tricks. I was a little disappointed at that. I think maybe you get to see more tricks if there is more people to cook for. With that being said, get a table with other people. Also, as a side note they charge extra for rice. The meat is one price and the rice is another. First time, I've had to pay for rice also. I didn't even see rice listed on the menu. It's always someone's birthday at hibachi places; I feel like its the only occasion that we go to a hibachi place. Stopped by with a few friends for a friend's birthday (surprise?) this past weekend. I've stopped by the other Kani locations before, the one by East Cobb and the one by Johns Creek. I feel like this location is the MOST BUSIEST out of all of them though. Sure, the busiest but not the best in terms of quality and or service. The few other times I've been to Kani House, the quality of their ingredients are impeccable as well as their service. That's probably one of the main reasons why my friends prefer Kani House over other hibachi restaurants. One of the main reasons why I'm okay with their higher prices than their local competitors. One of the main things that boggled our minds was that they did not do reservations. I've worked at hibachi joints in my college days, and this is probably the first time I've heard of a hibachi joint not taking reservations. Whatever, so we waited which was kind of long (30m wait time at 8pm in a way OTP restaurant) but just irked me that they didn't do reservations. We ordered 5 hibachi meals and a sushi platter. The sushi quality seemed under par for Kani House that day. I know it was busy, but it took them probably good 30 to 35m until it got to the table. The ingredients didn't look as fresh (which didn't make sense since the turnover should be fantastic on a Saturday) and it was noticeably made in a hurry. E and I complained about how our steak was overly salty while we were eating it; that never happens at Kani House. It's either under seasoned (which I can live with since I eat it with a bit more sauce) or just right on the salt but today, really heavy handed. Also, another thing that really rubbed me the wrong way, they give you less food at this location than at the other ones. I went to the East Cobb Kani House maybe like a month ago, and comparing how much food I got there versus how much food I got at this location, I could tell I was getting less. I was kind of let down at the whole experience here and I don't think I'll ever visit this location again. read more

I really like Kani House. This is a great hibachi restaurant that uses very fresh ingredients. They also have very good sushi, and if you sit at the sushi bar the chefs make you special little plates :-) I have gotten the steak, the chicken, and the shrimp. I've never been disappointed and the food is always cooked to my specifications. My husband likes the salmon and the "Hula Steak." The Hula Steak is a steak prepared on the hibachi grill with pineapple chunks in a teriyaki sauce served inside of a pineapple ring. It's really fun and tastes pretty good (my husband loves it). They also give you the standard salad and broth-based soup, along with steamed rice. Fried rice (the kind everyone actually wants) costs a bit extra. My only complaint is that you don't get as many vegetables as I would prefer. They are my favorite part of the meal and I would like to see a larger portion size. It seems like they bring the same amount of vegetables to the table no matter how many people are seated. So, if you are sitting at a nearly empty table, you get a lot. If you're at a packed table, not so much. We like sitting at the hibachi grills and watching their performance, and we enjoy sitting in the table area as well. The service is always prompt, and the hot tea is very good and free. read more

The design is very warming. The food is above average. I only eat hibachi there because I enjoy the show. They need to take it easy on their seasoning. It could be VERY salty sometimes. The prices are on the expensive side, expect to spend around $65 for 2 people depending on what you order. The portion is very hearty, but it takes an effort to go through it all with all of the salt. The waitresses are too busy to pay attention sometimes and are feel often ignored. I used to love coming here; however, this past month I decided to take my family here. They were from out of town and the Kani House is a special treat for them. We arrived shortly before 2 PM on a Saturday. We asked about lunch and we were told that we were in time for it. We waited for a table to be ready and was escorted to the table (where a couple was already sitting). When we reiterated that we were interested in lunch the hostess stated that we were too late because we hadn't been seated prior to 2 PM (although we were there prior to two and there was empty seats at the table where the couple was already sitting). The couple that had been seated prior to our party asked the waitress for the lunch Kani Special. The waitress said no lunch because they didn't order prior to 2 PM and it was now 2:03 PM (although no one ever came to wait on them despite them sitting there). When we asked about the difference in our place settings versus the other tables she said we had the lunch plates and she would swap them for the larger plates. The other couple were pretty upset and walked out. My party stayed and ordered dinner. The waitress made several sarcastic remarks to us during the meal. I also ordered the cherry blossom sushi (I specifically pointed to the sushi menu) and she brought me a cherry blossom drink, which I did not order and was not carded for. She made some remark about me not being specific and I should have stated sushi. I don't know what happened, but she never came back after this incident and she was replaced with another waitress, who was pleasant. The food was good, but the experience was tainted. It felt like my party and the other couple was delayed in ordering to prevent us from receiving the lunch prices, especially when we were both at the restaurant prior to 2 PM and the delays were by the staff. I also don't appreciate the sarcastic remarks from the waitress. It's embarrassing to bring guests to a restaurant and feel like you are being bullied. read more

Beware! I had dinner w/my family on Sat 7/25/20 and was doubled over in pain w/in 2 hrs of returning home, 8 hrs later ended up in the ER at 5am with a CT Scan diagnosing me w/"infectious colitis" from food poisoning. I have to take massive amounts of TWO different antibiotics for 10 DAYS. 4 days later and I'm STILL in excruciating pain! I'm afraid due to reduced revenue corners may be being cut. I've then found out a friend ate here 2 wks ago w/his daughter and she got sick with food poisoning symptoms right after and was sick for 3 days. I've never been this sick IN MY LIFE!! read more

This is our second time eating here. Pros: - Interior furnishings are a bit eclectic but quality and clean. - Sashimi is actually quite good with reasonable prices (try the baked salmon roll for if you have a fellow diner that won't do raw) - Food has been fresh and flavorful both times we've eaten here. Cons: - Waitstaff is efficient, but a bit distant. Attentive but hurried. - Long lines on weeknights with no wait list pager system. Diners are called over a quiet megaphone (really) so you have to pay close attention to hear them above the din of the crowded waiting area. Tips: - If lines are long, and you don't care too much where you sit, skip the lines by opting to eat at the sushi bar. I've hardly ever seen anyone there. They'll willingly serve you a full meal there. - The bento box contains a variety of foods at a great price. Sushi, salad, soup, edamame, hibachi choice, tempura veggies, two big tempura shrimp, and small sherbet desert. Nice option for the person who can't decide. read more

When walking in you're greeted and seated either at a hibachi table or booth .. they also have a nice sushi bar and regular bar.. Your server is in traditional Japanese attire. I came here specifically for sushi and ordered the Tokyo Roll which became my favorite. Its deep fried and has salmon, tuna, shrimp, avocado... it was nice. The Smoked Salmon Nigiri which they gave me 2 pieces for $5.50 they was nice thick pieces of smoked salmon so that was good and worth the value. I also ordered shrimp fried rice... was not my favorite at all. It was exactly that... fried rice.. some small hard to see pieces of egg in it ... I was searching to see if there was any vegetables in it and I found one carrot .... And the shrimp was not whole it was sliced in half and thrown on top.. not a lot of shrimp.. This place will make you sick. It's filthy and downright nasty! Not only do they pour a liquid margarine on EVERYTHING, but also they continuously have infractions on health reports. I love Kani House in Dawsonville. For my birthday I met family here in Buford for dinner on a Tuesday night. Though pleasant, our server (as well as the other one working) was quite frankly, high. He was pleasant & did a decent job. The problem was with Luis, the chef. He did hardly any "entertaining". We pointed out he forgot my dads seafood, but he blew us off. After he finished cooking everything else he finally acknowledged his mistake & cooked the scallops. He told my sister & I that "we could wait" for refills of yum yum sauce. We asked again, he acted like he didn't hear us. Finally when he was done cooking & we were done eating, we got the sauce. He may not have spoken much English, but as my 8 year old said, he obviously hates his job. So disappointing. read more

The draw is definitely the show, decor and location over the food. But that's what I would probably say about any Japanese steakhouse. We sat at the hibachi grill. Whenever I eat hibachi, I hope for yakisoba on the menu. Unfortunately, Kani House doesn't offer yakisoba. So, I ordered the sukiyaki with a side of noodles. $20 sukiyaki and $4 noodles! I justified it since the sukiyaki included a shrimp appetizer and dessert. Though they didn't allow me to substitute rice with noodles, I'm glad I had the rice because the food got to be too salty at times. However, you have to make sure they bring the rice since they didn't bother to bring mine. Clarification: the "shrimp appetizer" consists of two pieces of shrimp cooked on the hibachi. Not one of the shrimp appetizers from the menu. I also ordered a negi-hamachi roll. My main gripe is that the hamachi meat was grounded up as if it were the old leftover pieces ground up to make the roll. Really unappetizing. The sukiyaki beef was tasty, thought extremely salty. Since hibachi food is plated when it's cooked, you get the vegetables, meat and noodles at different times. Once I had it all on my plate, I mixed it together and it was quite tasty. Clarification: the dessert is sherbert, sherbert that was scooped, stuck with a spoon and frozen for a long enough time to make it a popsicle. Literally. I held it by the spoon handle and shook it and it didn't budge. The highlight of this experience - the clean-up of the grill. If only it were that simple at home! read more

Sunday night and my party of 4 showed up without reservations. I called an hour and a half before and the girl said yes we take reservations and then I asked to reserve 4 seats for 9 it was 7:30... She then said oh no we don't do "call aheads"... I wasn't showing up in 5 minutes... So I was a little bothered and said ok. No reservations... Just moved up from Miami and LOVE Benihana! Walked in to this place and the ambiance was just strange. Had a bunch of sings and ppl running around in silky night gowns.. This was not Benihana... Got it Was seated within 5 minutes, GREAT! But the seats and floor were dirty. Both with rice and sticky something's. We all ordered beer to avoid having to drink from what we thought would be dirty glasses... This place will cost you a pretty penny but if you like the hibachi experience and don't know much better I guess it's worth it. The food was good, and our cook was very sweet. Also had sushi, and it too tasted good. (Niko Niko is the best I've found this far) Personally, I would not come back again unless someone else was paying and we had no other option. Kani house is one of my favorite places to get Hibachi and Sushi. I also really enjoy their cocktails and Sake. Very diverse selection depending on what you're feeling. Waiters are always kind and the atmosphere is great. You can choose to sit by the grill or in a dine in booth type of setting. Definitely a must try if you've never been here before! read more
