Small restaurant, service little bit slow because it runs by 2 people only, probably husband and wife. But it was great food. So much flavor and and delicious. Would defintely try more dishes next time.

I was looking for something good to eat that was local to where I was filming and came upon this restaurant from Yelp. I was happy with the reviews I'd seen and the comments people left so I thought I'd try it for myself. FOOD 5/5 I ordered the lunch special which meant your choice of an entree, appetizer, and a drink for $17. I chose the Shrimp Penang with Jasmine rice as my entree, got dumplings for my appetizer, and Thai tea for my drink. The flavor was on point across the board for the Shrimp Penang. It had just the right amount of spice and was very well balanced. The dumplings were tasty as well and came with a dipping sauce that wasn't my expected sauce that sweet and sour but was the perfect pairing. The Thai tea was well made too. The chef knew what she was doing. SERVICE 5/5 As soon as we arrived we were sat, there were few people in the restaurant so we had our choice of where to sit. The waitress was so sweet and very helpful. I told her what I usually like and asked questions. She was patient and made great recommendations. She gave us the perfect amount of time to figure out what we wanted to order before returning to take our order. She had great timing in general for her interactions with us. AMBIANCE 5/5 I didn't go there looking for a vibe. I went there looking for great food and I got just that. I was there with friends and some colleagues for lunch and the setting was great for us to come eat and talk. The space was cozy and just the right size. After we ate I thanked the chef and the waitress and told them how great everything was. I liked that I could see straight into the cooking area and talk to the chef through the glass. It made things feel more personable and allowed me to communicate with them easily. They gave me the cutest little to go box for my few dumplings I had leftover. It was a great experience, I recommend checking out this place if you're looking for great quality Thai food at a great price point. I will definitely be going back.

    Checkin on yelp!!!!

This is a cute little place located right on the street, you can find street parking. Inside there's a couple tables, so it's good for a date? Friends meet or a small group of 4. The workers were lovely over the phone when I called to place my order. I had the pad Thai (gluten free) with beef. I asked for chili sauce on the side to spice it up, and I checked in on help when I got there and received a "free soda or Thai tea voucher" I chose to use the Thai tea! This was soooo sweet and creamy, I ended up adding it to another glass over ice and watered it down. The noodles were a massive portion, it lasted me for another's days lunch! The fish was good, could have used a bit more sauce. I'll be back to try more dishes! They were super quiet when I got there so I hope they do a ton of to go orders. Worth a try fersure!

Had a great time with friends and great food! I ordered the lunch special beef panang curry

Food was great! Lunch special was tasty and filling! Got the beef panang curry. So delicious!

I've driven by this place so many times but I never stopped to eat inside because I thought parking was impossible. I'll usually get it to go but then one day the lady there told me that there's free parking in the back! You're in luck if your favorite Thai dish is chicken pad see ew. It's the best thing they make. The noodles are nicely separated and perfectly chewy. There's a good balance of flavor - not oily, too salty or even too sweet. The Hot Basil chicken aka the chicken kra pow (minced chicken with basil leaves) is my go to but here it's made with chicken breast so it's not as tasty as your traditional kra pow. Still good though especially with a double dose of fried eggs! Make sure you ask for fish sauce on the side with chopped chilies so you can spoon a little on your fried eggs. Super friendly staff. There are a few small tables inside the tiny place. When I had dinner there, no one else dined in. Everyone I saw walking in were picking up to go orders. Kaohorm is one of the better places for Thai along Ventura Blvd. Sit down or take out - either way it's going to be good. Don't forget to check in on Yelp for a complimentary soda or Thai iced tea!

    Beef Pad See Ew

Date: September 12, 2023 The little sister was coming over to visit and she wanted Thai food so decided to re-try this establishment. I've been here prior when it was called 'Kao Cafe' and although it wasn't bad, it wasn't good enough to come back again. Since they changed their name, we decided to give it another shot. Called over the phone to order and my sister went to pick it up. 1. Beef pad Thai- little bland but noodles weren't bad. Beef was little chewy. Plentiful amount though. wish they gave limes. 2. Beef pad see ew - this one was actually not bad. Beef was hard but the noodles were cooked nicely and sauced perfectly. Didn't like that there were only a handful of veggies and they were all the hard stem pieces but overall it was good. They have a yelp check in deal for a free soda or Thai tea, however when we asked the lady rudely said 'it's only for dine in' even tho it doesn't state that on the check in. Oh well. It's only a soda, didn't have to be so rude. Glad we got to try it out again. Wouldn't be back unless we had to get somewhere close by. I don't believe there's a parking lot but street parking isn't too bad.

Service was good. She was a bit slow to take our order once we sat down but other that that the experience was great. Payaya salad was good- a little kick but nothing crazy. Never heard of salmon curry so we decided to order and try it out. Was tasty! Sauce either the coconut shrimp was good as well.

I got the Kai Soi Noodle Soup because I loved it so much before, and I got a side of rangoon, a side of Roti, and a side of chicken Sa te. The Kai Soi Noodle Soup stayed hot for the drive back home and it is so delicious. I love how it's packed in a bowl with the soup on bottom and the noodles and veggies seperated at the top. The noodles taste incredibly fresh and just amazing. I loved eating the soft flaky roti on the side with the soup. I saved the rangoon and chicken sa te to eat for another meal and they were both delicious, however I felt the chicken was so thin so it was a little dry. Probably next time I should eat that immediately. Dipping it into the peanut sauce of course elevated it and it tasted very flavorful. Overall Dek Sen's is my favorite Thai food place in socal! I can't wait to try more from their menu soon!

The atmosphere is very informal, complete with high chairs & various tacky signs around the entrance. It was extremely loud inside, with crowded tables & screaming children throughout the dining area. We were seated promptly & handed sticky menus, so we ordered the chicken satay, fried rice, Pad Thai, & red curry. Service-wise, our entire order arrived at once instead of the traditional cadence of serving appetizers first followed by the main courses. Additionally, our waitress did not check on us throughout the meal until it was time to drop off the bill. Unfortunately, the quality and flavor of the food were a major letdown :/ Chicken Satay....Did not taste fresh and was noticeably lacking in flavor. Fried Rice...Had a clear, off-putting texture and taste as if it had been prepared from a frozen bag. Pad Thai....Perfectly average, but very bland compared to what you would expect from authentic Thai cuisine. Red Curry....Easily the best dish of the night, featuring decent flavor, though still not exceptional enough to save the meal. When I kindly asked the waitress if any of the food was frozen, specifically noting the fried rice, she mentioned that only the vegetables were frozen and stated the chicken was grilled fresh. While I appreciate the team's effort, the restaurant urgently needs to upgrade its ingredient quality. Even if it requires raising prices slightly, using fresh produce and elevating the flavor profiles would make a world of difference in the overall dining experience.

This is one of those meals where restraint becomes increasingly unrealistic once everyone starts pointing at different parts of the menu. The fried chicken was a standout for me. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and exactly the kind of thing you tell yourself you'll have one piece of before reaching for another. The crab fried rice was another favorite. Plenty of crab, lots of flavor, and very little left by the time our table was finished with it. We also tried several of the Taco Tuesday dishes, including the shrimp tostada with coconut curry and chile crisp and the fish tacos loaded with cabbage and herbs. I liked how much variety we could get onto the table without everything starting to taste the same. We finished with mango sticky rice, because after everything we had already eaten, apparently that was where we decided to demonstrate discipline. No regrets. The mango was ripe and sweet, and it was a great way to end the meal. A useful note on parking: Ventura was doing what Ventura does, so I skipped the headache and found street parking on Moorpark a few blocks away. Thai Taco Tuesday was busy, lively, and a lot of fun with a group. Come hungry and definitely save room for the mango sticky rice.
