    Chicken curry combo

Kare inside Rodeo 72 is a solid stop for comforting Japanese curry. The curry is rich, savory, with lots of protein options--tender beef belly, pork belly, or a crispy chicken katsu. Portions are generous, and the miso soup on the side is a nice, simple touch. Great option when you want something warm, filling, and satisfying.

I've been to the other locations at Stanton and Irvine, I'm so glad they are in Whittier now. The chicken was so crispy and the curry reminds me of my grandmas. Don't forget to use the special spices if you want to kick it up a notch.

been to a lot of curry places before and i gotta say this is probably my favorite. definitely recommend!

    Chicken Katsu Curry

Just tried the newly opened Japanese curry spot in Whittier and WOW. We ordered the chicken katsu curry and it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, super juicy on the inside, not dry or hard at all. The curry sauce was rich, flavorful, and had the perfect balance of savory and had a mild spice that made it perfect without being overpowering. You can tell everything was made fresh. Definitely coming back again!

My waiter was amazing and really went above and beyond, helping with the high chair (and sanitizing it for me), kids plates and drink cup, and swooping in within 30 seconds of a massive spill my baby made. SO impressed. The food was just as impressive! Order via a tablet at your table, and it sends the order to your waiter who confirms it. Their Chicken karaage appetizer was crisp outside and juicy in the center with great flavor. Their Wagyu Curry was great as well, with tender wagyu pieces and a nice curry base. Their chicken katsu curry was also perfectly cooked and tender as well. Will need to come back for dinner as no sushi at lunch.

It felt a little stuffy inside because of the hot weather, but they had a floor fan that helped cool the space. Ordering is done through an iPad, which made the process quick and easy. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry with medium spice. The portion size was small, but the curry was flavorful with a noticeable kick, as I ordered medium spicy. The tonkatsu arrived hot, crunchy, and tasty. There is a parking lot in the back, or you can try to find street parking in the front. Service was a little slow toward the end of our meal, as we had to wait for our check and to-go boxes, but overall, it was a good experience.

If you can handle spice, I loved the regular spice level, otherwisemild is there next level down and was perfect for my friends. The pork was a little bitmore on the tougher side when compared to the chicken. But no matter which proteinyou go with, they were all delicious.  A curry plate also comes with soup and salad. Both wereserved right away and very delicious. Despite how small the salad bowl was, they really stuffed it with salad. The server is nice and parking can getpretty crazy if you come during a rush. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. I ordered the chicken katsu, and it was made with chicken breast. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the noodles--they looked absolutely exquisite!

I think I've been converted. I don't think I've really had good authentic katsu before. The chicken lady was light, tender combined with the grounded sesame sauce? It is something you need to try if you have yet to do so. The katsu meal itself ($17.95) with the combo (+$7 which includes either kimchi udon, or soba, Tuna roll) iis big on it's own. Also, the shaved cabbage salad is a great compliment to the meal. I'll be back with the family to check out the other offerings here. One downside, the space is tight, so strollers and wheelchairs won't be a comfy fit. However, there were littles here around 7 pm for dinner. All in all, is highly recommend Yoko Donkatsu.

I went with the fish katsu curry, hubby got the chicken katsu curry. Nice crunch outside, both protein types cooked appropriately. Good flavor curry, I wish there was a little more curry sauce, I do like to slather my rice :D lol! The mac salad and pickled veggies also good. Comparable price point to other curry places with the serving size. It's solid enough for me to return :) I also liked the egg salad sandwich, bread is nice and soft, egg salad is not drenched w mayo, very good egg ratio, I tasted a small hint of lemon, nice little snacker. The Korean Gangjung chicken tenders soy garlic had a nice flavor as well, a sweet and salty sticky glaze, chicken was cooked nice, not overly cooked, good chicken to batter coating ratio.

As an adult, I would crave it, but sometimes I just didn't have the energy or the ingredients to make the dish or it would be super expensive to eat this at a Japanese restaurant. I was craving something simple on a random weekday night and I saw Ducks come up. I went over and even though it was past dinner time, it still was pretty busy. I decided on cold soba, udon, karage and pork cutlet. Food came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the cold soba (simple and delicious) and the karage (perfect batter and chicken). The cold udon was ok, but I think it would have been better hot. The pork cutlet was also decent. I'm definitely going to come back here. They have a lunch special that I really want to try and other items that looked tasty. I do want to warn though that I don't think that their AC works well (or maybe it doesn't work?), so it was super hot it there. If you get overly hot, definitely recommend picking up on hot days.

In it's current state, this place is definitely not recommended. Service was friendly, however, the servers all acted like it was their first day on the job. The person taking our order seemed unfamiliar with the menu and it seemed no one was sure who's job it was to do what. Additionally, they forgot to bring one of our items, and mislead us on what was actually included in one of the items. We ordered the tantan ramen, omelet curry, and fried tofu. All very mediocre and nowhere near what should be served at a restaurant. I've included pictures which look as it tastes. Sadly, to pile on to all of that, the restaurant was old and dirty with one mini-split AC for the whole place. Specifically, there were dirty/stained napkins (see picture), sticky tables, and flies everywhere. There was also an instance where another customer's soda can exploded upon opening it because the soda can was overheated from perhaps leaving the soda cans out in a hot area which in itself wouldn't be up to the standards of any decent restaurant. Overall, just a rough time at this restaurant. Again, we do not recommend this place.
