Chawan-mushi. My Japanese mother loved it!
    Monica M.

Six years later and this place is still my favorite sushi restaurant in the triangle. It's not fancy but if you want authentic Japanese food, this is the only truly Japanese restaurant in the area. Food is always fresh and flavorful. Service is beyond excellent. Nothing but friendly faces and attentive staff. Chawanmushi is a must try, traditional Japanese dish and this place does it right. Smooth and jam packed with flavor. And the Chirashi is my go to dish so I can have a little bit of everything on a bed of sushi rice. If you are a sushi lover in the triangle and you haven't been to Kashin, I don't know what you're doing. Again, it's not all fancy like some other joints in Raleigh and Durham but if you want good food, look no further.

Always come back to Kashin Japanese family style food, some like chawanmushi and ochazuke are not easy find in other Japanese restaurants. We also ordered soft shell crab appetizier, my always go-to wherever there is one plum shiso roll, chef's choice 5 sashimi (15pcs - red meat tuna, salmon, yellowtail, snapper, escolar), and a shoyu ramen. This is not the finding a gem good, but the good as I will return when I cannot find another new place to try. Comfort Japanese food with fair price (consider inflation), Kashin is like a Japanese diner for me.

One of the few Asian places that earned my five stars. Come in and you are greeted by friendly staff that will show you to your table. You can choose to sit at the bar where you can watch your meal being prepared in front of you. The bar filled up quick the night I went. Kashin aims to be as authentic as it can in its Japanese cuisine. The staff did a great job. My sushi dinner was presented well and had the type of wasabi I liked. Mom's tempura was crunchy. The seafood was fresh. It had the look and feel of the kind I'd find at the real deal in Japan. They had a bottle of Asahi too. I'm happy to say my experience brought back memories of my trip. Arigato!

On the left is the typhoon roll and on the right is the eel roll. Best sushi I've ever had!

I had the eel roll and the typhoon roll. Hands down the best sushi I've ever had. The typhoon roll has so much flavor it blew my mind!

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Wait time: 2/5 Price: $$ - $$$ I visited a 2nd time with family. We always arrive the moment dinner time begins because the restaurant fills up very quickly. The food here is delicious almost all around. You can't really go wrong with any of the nigiri, rolls, or small dishes. They use fresh cuts of fish. We chose the following items: * (5/5) Maguro Yamakake * (4.5/5) Assorted Deluxe Sushi Dinner * (4.5/5) Alaskan Roll * (4/5) Spider Roll * (4/5) Beef Tataki A complaint of ours was the wait time for kitchen-prepared food, again. Unfortunately, there was only 1 chef in the kitchen during both visits and an almost full restaurant (albeit small). It caused a long wait time for food to be served, which was difficult to endure since we were hungry. A positive note is that the server let us know an estimate time to wait if we ordered anything further mid-meal (could be 20+ minute wait). Overall, tasty Japanese food and kind servers and sushi chef.

Plain hole in the walls didn't have normal dragon but the numbered roll I had was similar to what I consider a dragon. Sorry can't remember specifics. There was a female sushi chef and the owner is a female. For that reason and the sushi was good enough, I'll return.

    Sunumono is excellent.
    Dale D.

Delicious authentic traditional Japanese Cuisine. Delivery was fast and accurate thtough DoorDash. The Sunumono mix was fresh and crispy cucumber with seaweed and an assortment of seafood. The spider was softshell crab in a nice roll. I recommend this Excellent Lunch choice.

Simple Japanese sushi shop. Perfect miso soup, melt in your mouth nigiri. The service is excellent. J-pop soundtrack. What else do you need?

From check in to being seated, the experience was seamless we only waited about five minutes. Our server, Talaya, was incredible and provided outstanding hospitality throughout our visit. While the food was delicious, what stood out most was the teamwork among the staff. My water glass never sat empty, and sauces/sides were always replenished without us having to ask. The ambiance was relaxing, welcoming, and perfect for a casual meal. It's also very kid friendly, which I appreciated. I can't wait to bring my little one on our next visit. Looking forward to coming back!

I came here when I was visiting my in laws, so naturally, I wanted to expose them to KBBQ. Unfortunately, I picked this place because a lot of reviews said its the best and allat, when in truth, this place is one of the worst KBBQ I have ever visited. Not only they stopped serving lettuce wrap (sure, they have it in the menu but they didn't stock it because their lettuce supplier increased the price or whatever), they did not offer any other wrap options like a decent kbbq should have (rice wrap, radish wrap, or shisho leave...etc). The meat quality? It's the cheapest cut you could ever get. The kalbi cut is so thin and tasted old (spoiler alert, they should be thicker and higher quality..), the other unseasoned meat cut is lower quality too. The seasoned meat were so bad I had hard time enjoying it. The bulgogi did not taste like a propee bulgogi and once again, tasted old like it has been in the fridge for too long. The spicy bulgogi was so grainy and not spicy at all, almost like they're using low quality gochugaru. Honestly, you will be much better off buying your own ingredients at h-mart or any asian grocery than going to this place. The only saving grace was the kind server who tends us often. 10/10 will not recommend.

Noodle Blvd is located in a spot that you could easily miss, but it's easy to get back on track. I pulled into the gas station parking lot beside the restaurant, then just turned right into the restaurant parking lot. The parking lot is fairly small, so be warned about that. My friend was there when I arrived, and he sat at the bar. When I walked in the door, I was greeted with smiles and waves. It was very inviting, which is fitting for a ramen restaurant. My friend ordered us Lychee Margaritas, and oh my goodness, it was so good! We decided to visit right at opening on a Saturday, so the bartender was still preparing some of the ingredients needed for the margarita. The bartender informed us that it's usually better once a key ingredient sits for a while, but I loved the drink regardless. I ordered edamame for an appetizer, which came quickly and was good! Since I've never had ramen before, I asked our server what he recommended, and he told me about some of their most popular dishes. He told me the N9. Chicken Curry Ramen was a favorite of his and the patrons, so I decided to order that. It came quickly, and I was immediately in HEAVEN upon my first bite. I loved every bite after! I decided to play it safe with the spice and got level 2, but I can definitely go up a level or 2 since I love spicy. Highly recommend, and I will be back! Worth the drive from Clayton, where I live.

The short rib ramen was good, but the noodles were short, like they were cut or made short on purpose. The shrimp shumai was disappointing. Small bite sized portions, but they were soft. After cutting into one, I found out that they use rice as a filler with a bit of shrimp. I've never seen rice used in shumai, unless it's Shanghai sticky rice shumai. Also got a unagi don togo, it was good, just a bit small on the portion of eel, but it's hard to mess up an unagi don.

The chef curates a multi course and highly personalized tasting menu. My wife and I had the pleasure to partake in this unbelievable experience for our 21st anniversary, and it was hands down one of the best meals we've ever had. Not this month, not just sushi, not just in NC...but one of the top meals of all time anywhere. We had the Grand Omakase, which came out to 10 courses in total. I won't go into detail on each and every course, but let's just say that each and every course was of the highest quality fish, sushi or meat we've had anywhere. From the sushi flown out straight from Japan, to the beluga caviar and A5 Wagyu, and everything in between. We've had sushi across the nation and overseas, 100s of times. This has taken the top #1 spot out of all of them, especially with what we were served in the Grand Omakase package. Impeccable service, 8 sushi chefs all working efficiently at once in an open style sushi kitchen, all within a classy (but not pretentious by any means) establishment. The Grand Omakase package here is one of those bucket list items for anyone who loves sushi, top shelf meats and fish, and enjoys a high level foodie experience.

The broth had great depth, the spice provided a nice kick, loved all the different toppings but I do think there could have been more pork. - Tonkatsu Ramen (Signature rich pork broth, pork belly, bamboo shoot, wood ear mushroom, green onion, 1/2 seasoned soft-boiled egg, thin straight noodles): Same great broth as the tan tan, chashu was perfectly fatty and tender, liked all the toppings again. The noodles themselves didn't really stand out to me. - Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box (Dashimaki, shrimp shumai, salad, pickles, rice, miso soup): Ehh... this was fine, but I'd definitely skip it next time. For the price, the quantity and quality of everything but maybe the chicken (which was smoky but way too sweet) was lackluster. - Chicken Curry Don (Panko breaded chicken cutlet, Japanese-style curry sauce, potato, carrot, onion, nori): The chicken was crispy, but quantity was so small. Curry was tasty, but inadequately warmed. - Raindrop (Plant-based ice jelly, brown sugar syrup, soybean powder): Such a unique dessert- ofc the visual is great, but the texture was interesting and it was subtly sweet too. Ambiance is nice, but the space is pretty small. Service was fast and friendly. There's plentiful parking. 7.5/10 would recommend!
