House-Pickled Shiitake Mushrooms and Organic Cucumber Slices with sesame

I had a yummy lunch here. The best taste I tried were the tacos. I ordered the tofu rice bowl. And I would def recommend the cucumber appetizer with sesame sauce. I wish I ordered the ramen but it was a super hot day and wasn't in the mood. I'll come back for the ramen! Plenty of seating. Order at the counter.

Boy am I glad EEM was closed because I got to try Kayo! When it's 78° and sunny, the last thing on your mind is ramen, however, I decided to check their menu and saw some fusion tacos and then suddenly, it was a no brainer to try them. We got Mala spicy tacos, the Osaka chicken and the tan tan. They were all super tasty but that Mala one was the standout. I love that their menu expands beyond ramen because you can get other amazing items, especially on a hot day.

I ordered from Kayo's and had my order delivered. All of my food was packaged well. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered ramen and a rice bowl. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach so I also ordered extra noodles for my ramen. When my food arrived, the noodle portion looked small so I was glad I ordered extra noodles. After eating it, I learned that extra noodles are not necessary unless you want extras for later. Eating it all at once was a bad idea! All that to say the food is delicious and I can't wait to visit the restaurant in person.

Presentation: 4/5 (looked tasty) Tastiness: 4/5 (spicy miso ramen was pretty good. Kind of lacking in flavor for my taste, but they provide chili oil) Value: 5/5 (large bowl for your buck) Service: 4/5 (very busy but the workers had great attitude and calm demeanors) Cleanliness: 5/5 (even front patio was very clean. Workers would always come and clear trash immediately) Noise level: moderate loud for a friday night Want to try: ramen tacos

A hug to the gut. Tantan, Shoyu, Shio, vegan and meat options - something for everyone. If you want a comfy bowl of goodness on a cold Portland day, eat here. This place can get crazy busy - be prepared to wait to be seated. No reservations! You also may end up outside but covered. They have table service inside and the outdoor area is covered. It's not really about the buzzing scene for me - It's more about getting that Ramen in my belly. This is in my top three Ramen spots, for Portland. I tried almost all of their Ramen and my favorite is the vegan TanTan with chicken. The chicken is ground and soaks up the broth well. The teens in my life like to the shiyo, potstickers and cheese cake. Protip: $3 taco Tuesday's. Also, pay attention to the heat level on the TanTan ramen because even mild warms the tongue and belly. It's my kinda warm in it comes on just as quick as it leaves. But if you want to burn - just tell your server to make it spicy.

Food and service was very good. I got the dipping noodles and I really liked them. Had a nice sesame taste. Don't let the color scare you, I would definitely get them again! Staff was also super nice. It's in a cool area with outdoor seating available.

Good food, great service, cute environment. Sat at the tall counter facing the street and enjoyed the breeze. If you join their rewards program you get a free bowl of ramen next time.

Amazing vegan ramen and taco place. I was excited to try these fusion Japanese taco - it did sounded quite interesting and it lived up to my expectations. We ordered vegan TanTan, Spicy Mala, Chashu and Yasai tacos. Liked TanTan, spicy Mala and Yasai all of them. The TanTan taco has the Mala mayo and sesame paste which is a perfect combination. Loved the spicy Mala - it has Thai chilies and pickled ginger takes it a bit up notch. We ordered chili garlic noodles with extra spice and OMG - it was so amazing!! Like the sichuan peppercorn flavor to it. The vegan TanTan ramen has a spicy creamy broth. It was so enjoyable to eat the piping hot spicy ramen. We had ordered via Doordash and the food came pretty quickly. Also liked how they had packed ramen - we could heat it conveniently.

Best ramen in Portland. For my vegans, I recommend the Tantan. It's to die for. I've dined here three times in the last three months and it's been absolutely delicious each time. High quality, fast, consistent, and great service!

    Mole tofu taco (vegan)

Great outdoor seating vibe even on a weekday evening. Came here to try their vegan ramens since last time I tried their non-veg ones, which were also really good. My partner and I ordered their mala and curry vegan ramen and mole tofu tacos. The mole tacos were a nice fusion snack, and packed some good flavor. But that mala ramen was special and had the kind of flavor that makes you want to eat more. I wasn't hungry and I ended up almost finishing the entire bowl! The broth flavor had a touch of that Sichuan peppercorn flavor and coated the noodles perfectly. And love the quantity and flavor of the marinated tofu they add to substitute for the Cha Shu. The curry ramen was also pretty good though mala was a lot more of my style I will definitely be back for another bowl

Order inside, sit outside, food is delivered to your table. The Princess enjoyed watching all the legs go by as she laid under the table. Service was relatively quick. The noodles were decent. The broth not as rich as I like. The accompaniments spare. Yes, you can add-on to your hearts content but then that inexpensive bowl of ramen is no longer inexpensive. As a simple dinner, it was adequate but not quite our cup of noodles. It may have had something to do with that this was not our first choice of restaurants but the one we had pegged had a 1.5 hour wait.

I came here for lunch and got the tantan ramen (from lots of friends recommendations). It was my first time at Kayo's Ramen Bar, the staff let me know I could take a menu and sit wherever I'd like then come to the front to order. With the tantan ramen you can pick your spice level, I just picked the mild and got the spicy sauce on the side. The tantan ramen was okay, nothing too special. It did have the flavors of tantan. Good amount of ground pork, nice soup broth flavor (a bit salty for me). I liked the addition of the leafy greens, and glad I added a seasoned egg. Not many toppings on this ramen but it's flavorful and I like its simplicity. There's street parking available, easier to find some parking in the neighborhood around here. This is a nice spot to get a quick meal, to meet with friends or have a meal alone. Great food for cooler weather too! Next time, I'll try their other ramens such as shio, shoyu or miso.

    Miso with Pork
    Steve V.

Was on the hunt for a hot bowl of ramen in No Portland, Yelp led me here. Great reviews and pictures were enticing. The restaurant is very cool, outdoor night market stall seating, indoors in a a cavernous space (blocks WiFi). Service was good, ordered Miso ramen with pork. Overall, I was underwhelmed: noodles overcooked, pork lacked seasoning, and broth was missing miso and umami. I'll continue my quest for Portland's best ramen.

Each bowl we explored showed depth, balance, and technique, from the richness of the broth to the precision in every topping. Even the non-ramen dishes held their own, thoughtfully executed and full of character. What stood out most was consistency--every dish hitting the mark, every drink complementing the meal perfectly. It's clear there's intention and skill behind every plate that leaves the kitchen. Respect to the chef and the entire team for turning out food that speaks for itself. Cheers The Dutchman

I ordered the red miso, and there was sugar snap peas and asparagus, which is unusual. The individual ingredients themselves were fine but as a whole, it didn't taste like miso or spicy ramen. The overload of vegetables didn't seem to belong in a typical miso ramen dish (my go-to order) and rendered the broth quite bland. My husband ordered the black shoyu ramen, which was pretty one-note. Ota Tofu is one of my favorite spots in Portland for their amazingly fresh tofu, and it's right across from this ramen shop. Sadly, the tofu they used here was fried to a crisp, lost most of its flavor and had an unpleasant, sharp texture.

Tonkotsu Shoyu (4/5): A deeply comforting and classic bowl of ramen. The soft-boiled egg was perfectly yolky, but the dish would've been elevated even further with a slightly more generous serving of chashu pork.
