I had been wanting to try this spot inside H Mart because it's highly rated on Yelp. The portions looked generous, and I finally found someone to share the meal with. We ordered the chicken and pork curry katsu combo, which came as a full set with miso soup and rice. It was definitely enough for two people. The katsu was crispy, though I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had--but it was still very good. I was satisfied with the meal and couldn't even finish it, so I had to take the leftovers home. This is a solid spot in Arcadia if you're craving katsu.

Delicious local spot with huge portions! The chicken katsu was juicy and fried beautifully. Comes with sauces for the salad and chicken ( I'm not sure what they're called but the creamy one I used for the cabbage and the darker sauce I used for the katsu) lots of searing and it gets really busy! I would definitely recommend the mini portion bc it was huge and only about $12 (prices subject to change).

Located inside of H-Mart in their food court section. My order was ready pretty quickly in about 10 min. Chicken Katsu - The portions are HUGE. The chicken, and cabbage were plentiful. Feels like they shredded a whole cabbage onto my plate! Definitely appreciated it with the sauce too. The chicken was so crispy. The sauce it came with was perfectly sweet too. The rice was incredibly soft but I do wish there was just a little bit more of it. This plate also came with a cup of warm miso soup. An incredible amount of delicious food for around 20 bucks. Well worth it. The ordering process was really simple. They'll call your number over the loud speaker so you don't have to be near the restaurant and can wait at your table. Really impressed with the quality and portions sizes. I will definitely be coming back!

Omg, this place is so good! Kazu Mori is officially my favorite spot for katsu. The portions are huge, and the restaurant is actually located inside H Mart, which makes it super convenient. I wanted to try the udon too, but it was sold out. The katsu curry is highly recommended - the curry is incredibly flavorful and pairs perfectly with the crispy katsu.

The katsu here at Kazu Mori is always so crispy and hot. I just wish it was a little more seasoned, but with the mix set, they provide a variety of sauces to dip in and curry with your rice, so the flavors are all there! Service is also super quick and easy, and the portions are huge! I can almost always get 2 meals out of this or share easily with a friend.

I come here pretty often since we do our weekly shopping at H Mart, and sometimes we just want to grab a quick bite without going too far. This spot has become one of our favorites! The prices are super reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. The servings are HUGE. I can never finish everything in one sitting, so it basically turns into two meals in one (which I'm not complaining about haha). Their katsu is always perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Service is also pretty fast compared to other restaurants in the area, which I really appreciate when the food court gets busy. As for the ambiance, it's a small counter located inside a busy food court, and there are usually limited of seats available depending on the day. We've never had trouble finding a place to sit though! Definitely a solid go-to spot when you're at H Mart and craving something satisfying and filling!

Returned for their tonkatsu and it's as yummy as ever! Still affordable and big portions. They're in the food court so it can be loud and the tables filled up fast. You order yourself and return the dishes after. The chicken katsu was crispy and tender. No complaints and will keep on coming!

Wait time can be long but the food is worth it. Dining area is shared space, foot court. You can always count on this place.

This is one of my favorite Katsu places in the SGV and came back again to grab some katsu for lunch. I went with the Chicken Katsu (17.99) this time for to-go. There was no line to order since I went a while after they just opened. They are located in the food court of Hmart, and there are some tables there for dine in seating. I walked around Hmart while I waited for my order. It only took around 15 minutes for it to be done, and they have a speaker system in the food court that calls out the order number and the restaurant name, but you can only hear it in the food court. The Chicken Katsu comes with miso soup, salad, and white rice. They also give some sauce for the katsu and salad. The portions are still very big for the price and very worth especially in this economy. I was able to eat this for two meals! The taste is also amazing! The skin is fried to perfection and the seasoned deliciously! I definitely recommend this trying the katsu here if you are in the SGV!

First, a yummy dinner and then a little shopping at H Mart. The curry udon was delicious and spicy. The Pork Katsu was cooked perfectly and juicy. Customer service was welcoming, helpful, and very appreciative. Two entrées and one drink for $20, not a bad deal at all!

Craving some Japanese curry with some good fried meat cutlets? This place really hits the spot. I recently tried out a place called Kazu Mori in Arcadia inside HMart. I got their pork and chicken curry. Both the pork and chicken curry looked almost exactly the same, and when I tasted them, they pretty much tasted the same too. It was hard to tell which was which! Maybe if they could've marked the box. I got take out since it would be nice to eat at home. You can eat inside the food court as well. It was a bit on the expensive side, costing $18.99, but you definitely get a lot for your money. They give you a huge amount of meat! Like 3 slabs but all cut up in strips. So, if you're super hungry and want a ton of food, this place will fill you up. It comes with a nice cup of miso soup, shredded cabbage salad and a heaping scoop of white rice. Overall, it was great! The curry tasted good, even if the meats were hard to tell apart. Just be ready for a lot of food and maybe a little "guess the meat" game!

Best counter service katsu! The curry chicken is less than $20 and you get your money's worth: 3 cutlets, rice, cabbage, Katsu sauce, a small bowl of miso soup, and a bowl of curry. The curry is mild and has a nice slow heat to it. Staff are friendly and they get the food out to you quickly. This is my favorite spot in the family friendly Hmart food court. Great for casual dining.

A HMART Food Court Draw! Huge Portions $18.99 for Fried Chicken Katsu, Curry, and Rice. They put all the sauce on the side for you to complement your meal. Definitely enough to feed three people for sure and take some to go. Ordering was quick and easy. The food came out in 10 minutes so we avoided the lunch rush.

Hello, is the cheese katsu vegetarian or is it fried in the same fryer as meat?

The cheese katsu isn't vegetarian because the cheese is covered in a thin layer of pork before they batter it

What dressing do you include for your salad? It's my favorite part of the meal

    Miso dressing. Its bomb.

Is the tofu katsu vegan? Or are there other vegan options?

Hello :). Tofu katsu is vegetarian. It has light egg wash. Thank you.

Hi does your curry have peanuts in it? I have a peanut allergy Thx

Hi there. There is no peanuts in our facility and no peanuts directly in our food. However, some packaged (factory) items we use say the common warning: may have been processed in facility that processes peanuts. Thank you for inquiring.

    Is Mapo Tofu Vegetarian?

It had pork in it. Unfortunately we don't have this anymore, but we have tofu katsu. Thank you for your inquiry.

Located at the promenade and can be easy to miss since they don't have a huge sign or anything. Right across from Wing Hop Fung. We were seated immediately since it wasn't too busy. We got two katsu curries and 1 hamburg curry. The hamburg curry does take a little longer to prepare. Trying out the katsu curry, it was pretty salty overall. Mild spicy, but not spicy at all. The katsu is also pretty tough to eat at certain parts (usually the edge), and doesn't slice that cleanly when cutting it into smaller pieces. The miso soup was also a bit salty, but the salad was pretty nice and refreshing! We also got to try a bit of the hamburg curry and that one actually tasted better than the classic katsu curry... disappointing that even the signature misses the mark. Overall, it just tastes like how it's advertised, "Tokyo-style inspired". Employees were nice and attentive for checking in on us!

The item we get the most is tonkatsu pork cutlet with egg omelet, rice and curry. The curry is just a sauce, no extra chunks of vegetable like carrot or onion but after trying numerous spots, we really enjoy the flavor and seasoning of the curry. The pork is always juicy and well-friend and the egg adds extra protein and texture. Instead, there are steamed broccoli florets which I like even better. The other item I'm obsessed with lately is the Tomato Wagyu Patty Rice Bowl. White rice is topped with a smallish wagyu hamburg patty of sorts, a tomato "salsa" which is like a chunky tomato sauce. The tomato sauce is addictive and it's great mixed with the rice. My only qualm with this dish is that it could use two patties, or even three to complement the amount of rice. We had a bit of a curry katsu kick and tried the dish from numerous restaurants in the area. I can safely say that Curry Flurry remains at the top of our list.

Recently, I noticed the lines disappeared so we came for an early dinner. The interior is pretty cool. It's kit just tables and chairs but the design element is unique. Some seating are inside a honeycomb shaped booth, some are just in the middle of the dining area. We were seated at a table that resembles a birdcage. There's a lot of wood and warm colors, which makes the ambiance stand out over other ramen places. We ordered a ramen, omurice with katsu, some skewers and popcorn chicken. The spicy ramen was delicious, but there was no soft boiled egg as shown on the menu photo. All I saw was a broken egg white at the bottom of the bowl. 4/5. The omurice was nicely done. The egg was perfectly soft and silky with a nice curry sauce in the side. The katsu that came with it was crispy, hot and tasty. 4.5/5. The popcorn chicken was great. Perfect seasoning and crispy. 5/5. The skewers however, were the low point of our dinner. They did not appear they were cooked fresh. The meats were dry and tough. The scallops were OK but tiny. Chicken was average. The whole order did not satisfy. We also got an Amazing Lemonade and Thai iced tea. The lemonade was a very refreshing drink, and the Thai tea is just like all other places. Our server, unfortunately forgot his name, was excellent. Very personable and great at describing flavors. The friendliness extends to the rest of the staff too. It's a nice place to check out. Note their parking lot is fairly small, and shared with Paris Baguette next door. It's a 4.5, rounded up.

Well that was ages ago and it wasn't until now that I was able to visit and try out their delicious katsu, which hands down, is super good! I went during National Library Card Month. During the month of September, the city of Monterey Park is running a special where if you have a MPK library card, you can get deals and freebies from businesses and you can get an iced or green tea from Kagura if you show them your library card. I got a cold canned green tea, added to a cup of ice, refreshing and great with the delicious katsu that I got. I did a walk in for a slightly later lunch after dropping by Asayoru Maid Cafe across the street for a drink during their morning Asa shift. I went on a Thursday and was seated immediately. Staff is very friendly and checked up on me several times. It's a smaller restaurant, but it's simple and elegant in it's own way. No extra frills or bells and whistles. There were a couple other tables dining there and pick up orders too, so I can imagine it'd be busy during the weekends and lunch/dinner rushes. They have a paper wait list outside for those times. Limited parking in front of the plaza, but there's a parking structure next door. For my lunch, I got their demi glace loin katsu. It comes with miso soup, a side of rice, huge helping of cabbage salad with dressing, hot mustard, and some small sides of a sweet carrot salad, cucumber pickles, and 2 pieces of potatoes. Each side added a nice balance to flavor. I mention this in some reviews and to my friends that usually you get full because you get tired of the same flavor and texture all of the time, so I really enjoyed the small bites of crunchy texture from sweet, sour, and savory. The katsu is really where Kagura shines, as it's what they're known for. Super moist pork katsu meat inside, deliciously tender delicate layers of meat. The crisp of the breading outside isn't too greasy, but has the perfect level of indulgent oiliness that balances out. All perfect with a fluffy bed of rice and the demi glace brown sauce added a deliciously savory, slightly sort of fruity ketchup-y flavor (added this to my rice too!).
