And some of the best coffee I have ever had. They use Coava, but their baristas are actually better than the ones you will find in Coava's coffee shops, so the coffee is even better. Had a great time with my daughter here today. It's such a cozy spot. I can see why it's so popular. Arrived on a slightly chilly, slightly rainy early afternoon to find the place packed. Considered leaving but then a table opened up suddenly and that made my day :) They have a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I had the quiche and it was scrumptious. My daughter enjoyed a vanilla chai latte and I enjoyed a trusty Americano. They have several tables for two and a few small tables outside as well. Love love LOVE this coffee shop! I never understood the hype before going here as many coffee shops in Portland are hyped-up but don't tend to leave a lasting impression, however, this one is so amazing (and I didn't even realize how close it was to me). Located in a residential area, it can be easy to miss and difficult to find a nearby parking spot when it's busy, but you should definitely make an effort to try it out. The outside is pretty unique, so it definitely does stand out in that sense, and the inside is even cuter than the outside. With plenty of seating and an antique, cozy ambiance, the cafe invites you to study or hang out here with a warm cup of tea or coffee and enjoy a baked good. They have a wide selection of baked goods and teas (I recommend their teas, rather than coffee as they have so many different ones other cafes tend to not have), and everything I've had had been amazing. A very cozy neighborhood coffee shop in the Woodstock area. We came on a Friday morning and they're bustling! Their space is relatively big with tables inside and outside but it's still difficult to find seats for dining in at that time. The crowd did die down a bit around 11AM though so coming after that might be a better time if you wanna stay awhile. The interior is adorable. Sort of cottage-vibe with Victorian silverware and plates. They use Coava coffee and the Mocha that we got were decent but nothing out of this world. Their pastries, however, were AMAZING. I love the variety that they offer, as well as the more niche items like the Bostock and the Strata. They have a fully-equipped kitchen right in the building so you know their baked goods are going to be fresh. We tried the Strata and Mixed Berry Galette which they warmed up for us and they were delicious! The Galette was rich. Crust super buttery and flaky and the custard filling was creamy, pairing well with the tart berries. The Strata was also a hit. Such a great savory option. Being a savory bread pudding, it fulfilled the quiche profile with its creaminess while giving a muffin-feel. The top was nice and charred, resulting in crispy cheese bites that were heavenly. If you're gonna charge me $8 for a mocha because you've included the tip in the price, you better make sure that that thing is going to sing chocolate loveliness to the drinker. I got a mocha from you this morning in my personal cup and let's just say it did not pass the test. It tasted like burnt water with a little chocolate flavoring. You're a better coffee shop than that. You should do better! May I suggest that you check out Bella's Italian Café on 92nd and Woodstock and get a drink from their barista? This coffee shop was super cute!!! They had lots of fun decor all around and a good amount of seating in such a tiny place. OMG, their pastries looked soooooo good, But I had to keep myself from trying any because we had just eaten breakfast lol. They had a great assortment for sure. They also had great service, the staff was so attentive and friendly. Parking was pretty limited but we lucked up on a street spot and easily got in and out. Still good coffee. The food has been good too, even though it's expensive. After I threw money in the tip jar I found out they have now instituted a 20% automatic tip. I'm sorry, but I refuse to pay somebody an automatic tip if they don't earn it. I am done coming here if I'm forced to automatically tip whether I get served well or not. read more

I've only been here a couple times, but wow, every time is amazing! Because it's such a popular place. It can be hard to find a place to sit, which is why I've only been able to go a few times, but the atmosphere is great, there's also outdoor seating and the drink and treat selection is amazing. This is a vibey old neighborhood coffee shop. Rustic in the best way. Morgan fans will feel immediately at home; regardless, the space is welcoming to all. First review of 2023... and it had to be coffee related. This was a really cozy neighborhood coffee shop to get our espresso fix in the morning. PARKING: Like most places in Portland, street parking only. It's really in the middle of a local neighborhood so be prepared to look for parking. Don't recommend coming here if you're in a big van of sorts. VIBE: Super cute and homey! I really enjoyed how the coffee was served in porcelain cups, it was a nice touch. The staff were also really chill despite how busy they were on a Saturday morning. COFFEE: Slight disclaimer... my husband was initially interested in this place because a barista he followed on social media would work here... and to our surprise they were actually working here when we visited and made our drinks. We got the cortado and mocha - both tasted very smooth but flavorful. The espresso here is really good (not harsh/burnt) and the milk was steamed / frothed properly with care. Plus they were served hot, but drinkable! I really appreciated that my drink was made and called out in a timely manned without it getting cold (looking at you some CA coffee shops). If there was a meter for what I consider good coffee, this place set my expectations. OVERALL: It was a great way to start our morning - if you're in the neighborhood, be sure to check them out. Seattle may be more known for coffee, but the Portland coffee game is really strong (and about to get a leg up as the World Barista Championship will be hosted in the city). Keeper Coffee is divine and sweet and gives gentle, homey, lovey vibes. It is aesthetically beautiful and has an old school Portland eclectic vintage style. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating both in the mix and tucked lil corner to work or rest and write love poems. The food slaps so hard my god! Praise the lord. Keeper is such a cute cafe! Definitely has a vintage vibe, but their drinks were pretty good, too! It was nice that they offered a variety of sizes for their drinks, although they were a bit on the pricey side (My 8 oz vanilla latte was $5.75 lol). I also ordered a raspberry scone for my flight, and it still held up all day and tasted pretty good like 10 hours later haha. I appreciate that they serve it with lemon curd on the side! A cute little coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Many people were working ion their laptops while sipping coffee. Keeper also has shelves with coffee supplies and jams for sale. They have quite an array of pastries and treats to snack on. My friend had a piece of their coffee cake. Sadly, she said it was a bit dry. I had a savory scone and a cinnamon latte. Both were delicious. The staff also gave my friend a punch card towards a cup of free coffee. We will definitely return. Beware, however, that the shop does become a bit stuffy on warm days. My wife insists that she get quiche from Keeper any time we come to Portland, and I feel the same way about the chocolate chip cookies. Parking can be a little iffy but not unbearable. Absolute favorite coffee shop in Portland hands down. They are almost always packed and well worth the wait. Also super dog friendly inside and out. My favorite drink was a summer seasonal which I hope this bring back, a Jasmine blossom latte. I went as much as possible till the simple syrup was no longer available, almost even filled out my stamp card! But their freshly baked goods got me coming back for more. Their quiche is one of the best I've had in my life; the eggs custard really just melts in your mouth and have the perfect texture, and the flakey crust just crumbles away with every bite. Sorry to give this place a one-star review. The coffee was ok, the pastry was magnificent. The 20% mandatory service fee they don't tell you about until it's time to pay (very underhanded) is not acceptable to me for these reasons: I stood in the line. I returned to the bar when my drink was called. I stood there with my coffee and pastry until a table finally opened. The service fee was not earned. I would have refused to pay except someone was on their way to meet me, and Keeper Coffee had been their suggestion. If they are going to demand an additional 20% for me to drink coffee in their establishment, I would ask they also enforce a mandatory ban against all the customers who hogged tables with their laptops. Keeper Coffee is asking me to subsidize their employees because they refuse to pay them a living wage, but showed me not a single reason for why it's right. 17 bucks for a large mocha and a pastry. I wish I lived at that level. So I can't come back. But if the above doesn't put you off, it's a good place. I wish I could afford it. It was packed, as noted above, so apparently it's good business for them. And the guy at the register was friendly and had a dreamy smile, even when he dropped the mandatory service fee on me. Just post a sign outside, then see how business goes. It's only fair. read more
