    Florida Pancakes

A great stop for breakfast with an amazing staff. We went and they were short staffed but the team hustled to ensure it wasn't felt. The food came out fast and gorgeous. I like the care they put into everything. The Florida pancakes are probably the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. Mind you! The waitress mentioned that having more than one may be too much and she was SO right. One pancake and we were stuffed. The chicken was juicy and well coated. I would definitely reorder these two dishes.

Great experience at Keke's Breakfast Cafe. Our waitress Taj was super attentive, and the service was smooth. I had the stuffed French toast, which was delicious. I'd definitely come back. Very bright and clean space! Love the wall mural!

The bartender was easy to talk to and gave a couple suggestions without making it feel like a sales pitch. Both dishes came out pretty quickly even though the place started filling up during happy hour. The bruschetta had a nice mix of sweet and savory, and the avocado toast was fresh without being overly dressed up. I liked the overall pace of the service since nobody rushed me to order more once I finished eating. Service was also very slow, even when it wasn't busy. Everything took longer than expected and seemed disorganized. On top of that, the bartender was rude and unwelcoming. I was also charged for another person's drink without being asked or informed; which was unacceptable and felt careless. The staff seemed "blind" to how to properly run a restaurant. For the prices being charged, I expected much better food, service, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

When I checked Howley's on yelp I was surprised that there were so many negative reviews. Howley's is managed by the Sub-Culture Group, and we dine regularly at Kapow in East Boca and Dada in Delray Beach, also managed by Sub-Culture. And while this is an entirely different type of food, I still wanted to take a chance and check them out. And we did and were pleased and more than satisfied. First, the decor is truly funky. I'm not sure if everything is from the 50's when they first opened, but it sure looked like it was. The restaurant was spotless, and the toilet was as well. The AC was strong which was appreciated. Artwork on the walls was not our style but must have been from a local artist. Ceiling fixtures were similar to what my parent's had in the late 60's. Jessica was our server and she was professional and positive in her attitude. Could not have asked for anything more. Decided to order a turkey club on rye bread ($15) with fries which were included and share it. Some of the reviews addressed how large their portions were and photos confirmed it. Jessica brought out the sandwich which was split in the kitchen with an ample amount of fries on each plate. The fries were delicious. Obviously freshly made and not sitting around, they were crisp without being overcooked. The turkey was described as fresh roasted sliced turkey and it sure was. Bacon was plentiful and crispy along with fresh lettuce and tomato. Mayo served on the side as requested. The sandwich was so large that I was only able to eat a half of my half, taking the rest home for the following day. Ordered a corn muffin and chocolate chip muffin to take home and each was fresh and delicious. ($5-$6) Howley's certainly warrants a visit if you are in the area and not seeking a trendy looking place which exists all over West Palm where the food may not be as good but the vibe is what is being sold with mediocre food. There was an on-site manager who visited our table to make sure all was good. I neglected to ask her name and apologize - she was welcoming and clearly on top of her managerial duties. Would I return? Sure would. And endorse fellow helpers to check them out.

It was once a great joint. I walked in, to the vintage counter. Seats are looking worn again. The server was prompt. He cleaned the counter. Handed me the menu. I sighed, after opening it. It was still the decades old time capsule of standards. I thought: There was that chef, back in '09. He rocked the standards. Maybe they found someone with that kind of passion. They didn't. The Matzoh Ball- Noodle soup. Soup stock: Watery and salty. Noodles? Mushy. The Matzoh ball had a stale, slightly metallic taste to it. I put it aside. My French Dip, an old reliable, quickly arrived. Looked good. The fries are like ties, in this joint. They change width, over the generations of this geriatric menu. This was okay. A ray of hope. The sandwich looked good. I picked it up. Dipped it into the au jus. Watery. Thin, like a patron who won't eat bad food, trying to pick something off of this menu. I was hungry. I ate the sandwich. The jukebox played a sad, 1950's. Patsy Cline tune: Crazy. I watched Ghana get banged up by Colombia, in World Cup. Ref played for the system. Coconut cream pie. Made fresh. In-house. Looked great! Coffee. Black, and hot, like Beyoncé at a Super Bowl halftime. The pie? Good crust, but the filling? Thin. Watery. Over sweet. Coffee was diner decent. Vibe to the place is tired. Needs some love. I finished writing up my notes. I found a no-longer-existent phone booth. Called the DA (Digestive Attorneys). Definite food crimes here. Charges should be filed on the kitchen. 117.209.2.1 - Unforgivable Mediocrity. 129.059.1.1 - Culinary Hopelessness. 129.059.1.2 - Stale menu. It was raining.
