I had my first roast beef sandwich. It was delicious! I was a little disappointed in the staff, but they just need a little handholding on their customer service for first timers. I asked for a French dip. She was a little confused, but we pieced it together after a bit of back-and-forth. Great cold rear roast beef sandwich the way it's supposed to be. Didn't try the lobster roll yet, but it look great and packed with lobster. Not the cheapest place but certainly the best. Yesterday was the Grand opening of Keely's Roast Beef in South Pasadena, Florida. Today, I tried Kelly's. Let's say they are not ready for prime time. Bun-size sandwich (= loaded with cold raw roast beef and cold cheese and sauce. I tried to wash it down with a large lemonade. I tried the roast beef sandwich and ended up throwing away the $15.00 + for the sandwich and Lemonade. I am a project manager building a Fire Station with many hungry workers across the street. I give them 2 stars for the staff is friendly. I have tried this place twice for lunch and have spent $40 between them. I have been disappointed both times. I was so hoping I would like this place for its close by. But I won't be back between the over price and average at best food. read more

They were more confused about their menu than I was. I got the wrong order. Maybe it's because they just opened and need to get the wheels moving. A wicked large lobster roll was not that large for the high $ price, also way to much mayonnaise. I'm from Boston, I know. I may give it a second chance after a few months go by and they get situated. read more

This place is brand new and super clean inside. The staff were super friendly as well. The roast beef was cut fresh and they piled on the meat. I got American cheese, bbq sauce, and mayo on the sandwich. We also had a roast beef/cheese steak. They give you tons of food and it was very fresh and tasty. Will definitely go back! read more

Went there on Friday September 15th had a couple Roast beef sandwiches... surprisingly good.., a little expensive but good quality Fast forward 24hours .. took my wife ordered a large roast beef combo , a scallop platter and a large clam chowder ... First of all it was not busy ... waited 15 to 20 minutes... watched our food get delivered to the wrong table ... then picked back up and delivered to us AFTER the other people touched our food ... F ING GROSS... then the roast beef bun was hard and the wrong sandwhich NO SIDE ... the scallop combo was suppose to be scallops fries and onion rings .. scallops were good ... fries were cold ... and i got 1.5 onion rings .... What a f ing joke for 30.00 plus dollars .... Asked for a tea refill with extra ice i got a glass of tea with NO ICE WTF .... I was so excited about Kelly's coming to St Pete. I used to spend my summers on the Beach in Point of Pines down the Street from the original Kelly's. This place is Terrible. The fried clams were over priced and Chewy! (Not fresh) The Large Lobster Roll smelt fishy all the way home in the car , sure enough it was inedible it tasted like old fish! The check was $64.00. We tossed both meals in the garbage. The service was great but I would never go back! For $64.00 I could go to a fine restaurant! Ordered a small 3way roast beef combo and a small roast beef sandwich with only mayo. 3 way was supposed to have bbq sauce and cheese. Almost $30. Both sandwiches had only mayo. Food was very bland. While they did bring the food to the table, I had to get up to get my own napkins and ketchup. When paying with a card the card reader asks if you want to leave a 15, 18, 20% tip or other amount, for what, this is fast food. I did throw a couple of $ in the cup on the counter. The employees were friendly and pleasant but could use more training. Very expensive for what you get. I won't be back. Wendy's a few doors down, has much better tasting food and nowhere near as expensive. I won't be back and I live across the street. I doubt they'll be there a year. read more

I would have to disagree with other reviews. Yes this is a fast food type restaurant but food was nothing like most fast food. Roast beef was freshly cut and delicious. Buns were fresh and tasty. Fries were fresh cut. I had the chicken sandwich which was a real chicken breast. Tender and tasty. Onion rings were real rings so yes fast food but not fast food quality but much better. If you want McDonald's or Burger King and don't car what you eat go there instead. Very tasty and will go back. read more

Very overpriced. I ordered the #2 combo, a roast beef sandwich, fries and a small drink for $14.95, thinking I'd give them a try to see if was worth that. When I paid with my card it offered tipping options and I couldn't pay without selecting other, then $0 on the next screen. It is a fast food joint, why would I tip 20% or any of the other options. If they had a box I could throw a buck in like Subway I'd do that, but the tipping percentages are absurd. I sat down with my drink to wait for my food and found that I'd been charged $15.25 rather than $14.95, not a big deal but I wanted my thirty cents. I spoke with a manager who said 30 cents was for cheese. The cashier did ask if I wanted cheese, but since their roast beef as advertised as having mayo, BBQ sauce and cheese I thought it was included. Apparently that is a different sandwich. I gave up and got a refund, which they willingly gave me (they offered to refund just the cheese first, which would have been OK, but I felt nickeled and dimed already so I just wanted to leave). It is a nice clean place, and well staffed with pleasant people, but I just can't see paying $16 for what is more or less an Arby's meal.... and that is before tip. read more

Well, this Kelly's roast beef just opened in South Pasadena, St., Petersburg, Florida. The building is nice. Access is adequate. I ordered the small roast beef 3-way combo, which consists of a small roast beef sandwich, small drink, and a small fry. The cost was $14.93. The presentation was lacking, they bring you your food and then you have to get up and go get napkins, condiments, etc. It really seems that if you're going to bring someone their food, you should bring them a napkin. But I digress. Sandwich was OK. The roast beef was not hot, although I think it was intended to be. Overall, I feel like I was eating food from a picnic or food from a ballgame. The fries were plain and boring with some salt and pepper on them. It felt over priced for the small portions. Refills are behind the counter. I didn't ask if they are charged or not . I thought the location of South Pasadena was rather curious. There's a Hospital directly across the street but I didn't see a single person from the hospital eating here at lunchtime. South Pasadena is filled with retirees that I don't see spending $15 for a sandwich. These people are lucky there isn't any competition close by. I will be surprised if this place makes it a year in this location. read more

Kelly's, I know you have the best food, I'm a Boston guy and was excited for a roast beef while I was away. This specific location needs a quality control check. The 3 way had a ridiculous amount of mayo. I needed to take the top off and scrape it and eat it like an open face sandwich. The beef was great. The oil needs to be changed. I was open minded and excited about the legendary "Kelly's"coming to town, and gave it a shot...three times. First time was the large roast beef sandwich with a delicious, buttery bun. The meat was red, cooked right, and was tender. However, the red "James River" BBQ sauce was very bland, with no "pop" at all. The french fries were hot , but somewhat "nondescript," and could have used a little seasoning and/or salt. On my second visit, I had the small lobster roll and fries. The bun was excellent, but the lobster was shredded in small pieces, rather than the chunks that I am familiar with in some of the popular, yet reasonable Boston/New England restaurants. I figured I'd give Kelly's one more chance, and purchased the whole belly clam platter with french fries and onion rings, costing around $32. The fried, whole belly clams were good, but there was less than a handful, accompanied by lots of those french fries (filler), and 2 1/2 "shoestring looking" onion rings (why bother). I understand that the cost of seafood has gone up, but I like to get what I pay for, quality and amount at an appropriate, reasonable cost. In retrospect, I wish that I had chatted with a manager, but was reluctant knowing that the restaurant has only been open for a very short time. I may return sometime later in the future when the business is more established. Finally, the employees were very nice and attentive. I would love to see this legendary business thrive in the wonderful town of South Pasadena. read more

I went through the drive-in and it was quite a long wait. That would be OK if the food was good and it wasn't. I ordered the original roast beef with a signature sauce and cheese and an order of onion rings. The onion rings were cold. The sandwich was semi-cold, cheese wasn't melted, and sauce was bland. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea with lemon, no lemon in my tea. Big disappointment I won't go back, very expensive. read more

Food was fresh and hot. The roast beef is real roast beef. Portions are good, you can pick and choose what toppings, cheese and sauce you want. Fried fish sandwich is very good as well. Service is very good as far as speed of receiving your order. They do have dinner plates of scallops, shrimp and clams. It's really good for a "fast food " restaurant.
