It was very very busy when we came on Sunday morning, given that, the wait wasn't too bad. It was very noisy and crowded so if that bothers you Sunday mornings may not be for you. Once we were seated even our waiter was surprised how loud it was in the room we were in! She was friendly and it did take some time for the drinks and food but the queso was fast. You do have to have some food on your table to get alcoholic drinks before noon, hence the queso. But the wait wasn't awful considering how busy it was. The food was good and filling. As I mentioned on the review for Serrano's we came here with a whole extra person who got a full meal, a bigger bowl of queso, and a drink. So 3 meals, 3 drinks and it was only a dollar more. That is insane. Plus the meals here were so filling I didn't finish my pancakes and the 3rd person didn't quite finish their meal. That seems like a pretty big cost difference. It was a bit surprising to see. Still we enjoyed the visit, we expected it to be busy as Sunday morning lunch and brunch usually is at places like this and given that they were still pretty fast and the order was right. They have artwork on the walls from local artists that you can buy, some have prices and others are reach out and haggle for offers with emails. It is a nice touch, they also have their own merch such as T-shirts and coffee mugs. Overall a pretty good visit and nice family time. read more

Definitely would have given 0 stars if that was an option. Mostly due to the fact we wait for 45 mins - 1 hr for 2 people which was a little insane to me. What sealed the deal for no stars was the fact that no one mentioned the fact the place was out of bacon, fruit and biscuits during any of this time. By the time we got to the table, the server told us "it's ok if we want to leave because we're out of so many things" instead of suggesting alternatives or something fun to try. And to the cherry on top was the fact she said the host/hostess were telling people about this for the past hour, that was an absolute lie because we were told. This place stays consistently busy, which is a surprise because the service here is not very good and the food is not going to knock your socks off or anything. After a short wait, we were seated and got to our table. We immediately told our server that my girlfriend was basically dying of thirst and that we needed water as soon as possible, please. We waited and waited and still never got any water, so I went up to the bar where they promptly handed me one. We could see our waiter looking over, and I am sure he was embarrassed because he was not doing his job. I get that people are busy and we are not priority number one, but come on. If someone told me they were basically dying of thirst, the first thing I would do is bring them water. The service was basically non existent the whole time we were there. I guess he felt bad because he eventually came back with three waters. After we got our food, we did not get any service at all until it was time to leave. Friends of ours from Seattle, WA told us that were driving through Austin, TX and called us on Wednesday to see if we could have breakfast with them on Thursday morning. Kerby Lane is known for its down-home cooking especially breakfast items. The original Kerby Lane is on Kerby Lane and 38th Street. However, this location is always super busy with a variety of clientele - hospital staff, college students, business people, families etc. If you go to this location, definitely put yourself on the wait list. We chose the Hwy183 location because it is easy to locate, less packed with people and plenty of free parking. Can you believe our friends wanted queso and tortilla chips as an appetizer for breakfast? If you have lived in the Seattle area, you absolutely understand this request. You just cannot get great Mexican food or BBQ in Seattle. We also ordered two Kerby Lane breakfast combos (two half size buttermilk pancakes, two eggs scrambled, bacon, sausage, and seasonal fruit), one Breakfast Platter (two half size Lemon Poppyseed pancakes, two scrambled egg whites, and sausage, and Brioche French Toast platter (served with two scrambled eggs and bacon). Everyone enjoyed their selections. I had the Lemon Poppyseed pancakes, which are a seasonal item. The Lemon Poppyseed pancakes were fluffy with the perfect combination of lemon and poppyseed. My friends and I stopped at Kerbey Lane during a bachelorette weekend in Austin since it was on the way back to Houston, and I absolutely loved my first time here! The food was delicious, there were tons of options to choose from (including vegan & gluten free), and the prices were very reasonable (especially considering the big portions). The iced maple latte was so good, and the brown sugar rim was a perfect addition for a bit of extra sweetness. I highly recommend the Eggs Francisco and Chicken Pesto Panini, both amazing. The service was quick for our party of 10. There is plenty of lot parking. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my first expereince and would totally come back if I'm ever in Austin! read more

I never review on here, but this experience made me change that. Was a fairly busy Saturday morning, wait was not too bad. Got seated and ordered, but over the course of our 45 minutes at our table, our server, Julio, only visited our table to get our order, deliver drinks, and get the check. After we got our food, he was nowhere to be found for 20 minutes, by which time our food was cold and we were able to ask him for the forgotten syrup for our pancakes and ketchup for home fries. Over easy eggs were borderline raw and clear on the inside; I eat over easy eggs at restaurants all the time and have never seen them this raw. So between eating cold pancakes and home fries, raw eggs, and never getting a drink refill, I don't think we will be returning. read more

Kerbey Lane is a tried-and-true Austin favorite, and I'm glad I was able to stop by again after almost a year! Going in for lunch on a Sunday was a good idea---could still have brunch food without the brunch crowds! My bf and I started off with coffees (I with a cappuccino), and I received a large mug! Definitely did not finish it, lol! For food, we shared one of the new featured appetizers, the burrata with tomato and pesto with side toast. It was definitely delicious, and I recommend sharing it with others since it can be super filling as a stand-alone dish! For my main meal, I had the breakfast tacos made vegetarian. Our waiter, a super nice kid (wish I got his name!) made some great recommendations so I got to try two different tacos---one with vegan chorizo and cheese, and another with tofu scramble, potato, and cheese---all served with spicy salsa on the side! I came in earlier this week for dinner by myself. The host was going to sit me in the back room but I asked to sit at the bar because I was cold. He sat me up at the bar with a menu. At the end of the bar there was what appeared to be three workers eating (one was leaning on the bar mat the entire time I was there). Originally when I sat down a worker in uniform was behind the bar talking to those guests. I sat at the bar for 15 minutes and not a single employee acknowledged me. Two of them even went behind the bar and just typed on the computers and left. At the 15 minute mark I just left because I hadn't even gotten a water. Terrible service. It's been a minute since I've visited, so I figure it's time for an update. We found the service to still be solid. However one server was really over the top, which enthusiasm, I guess is a plus, but at some point it felt like an act. I had the monthly pancake, a lemonade strawberry pancake, and was totally blown away! Normally, because these pancakes are massive, I eat about half and take the rest home. I was so impressed and in love with this pancake, I couldn't stop eating. My stomach was telling me stop and I told it to shut up! The home fries I tried had good seasoning, but some of them were a bit dry. We tried the onion rings and were warned that they are panko covered, but tried anyway. We found them to be a miss. I believe the menu should indicate this so the servers don't have to warn us. The grilled chicken sandwich was a hit. The chicken breast was a good size and it was grilled very nicely. This Kerbey Lane location is a blight on a once great Austin restaurant. I cannot ever recommend anyone to go here. Wait times- horrendous. Food quality- 50/50 split between classic Kerbey excellence and what should be an embarrassment for the owner. Having been to every location in Austin, this spot just can't seem to get it right. The servers, if they ever have any staff that wants to work here (can't blame them if they don't) are some of the most forgetful people I have ever had serve me. The kitchen has to be run by a single human making every order. It just is ridiculous. I don't want restaurants to fail unless truly deserved. Kerbey is an outstanding business but it's obvious this location needs a ton of corporate support and more staff. Or, just close this location. read more

Our experience was so positive that I am disappointed that this location had such a low rating. Our server was very kind and spent a lot of time making sure that we were well taken care of. It may have been because there were not many patrons at that time of day, but I still felt like they appreciated our patronage. The pork can and cheese was delish and had a lot of flavor. I was torn between it and the Mediterranean salad. My wife ate the blueberry pancakes with gusto and enjoyed a fresh pressed juice. I also partook some java, trying the Orange Mocha. Man oh man, was I in for a treat. The temp was just right, the flavors were complex but balanced, and it really made my day. This was my first time at a Kerbey, so I can't speak to the feel as others have when comparing it to "just another breakfast spot." However, the food was intensely fresh, the service was impeccable, and I can't wait to visit this and other locations to try the rest of the menu. To me personally I think Kerbey Lane is an okay spot, or at least that's what my opinion used to be. The first time I had Kerbey Lane it was eh. Not the most memorable but I wasn't upset. I always remember the wait time being unreasonable but that was back in 2014. I ate there again and a few times for the first time in 2019. I tried several of their entrees and they were okay but I remember the portions being small. Due to these experiences I put this chain on the back burner and never really looked at it again. Today I wanted breakfast for dinner and Kerbey Lane was the only spot that could really get me that at a better quality than IHOP. I decided on the Lemon Poppy Seed French Toast Platter and it came with migas and bacon. I got corn tortillas and queso on the migas. So many positives here today! They packed my take out order nicely for one. And the food was AMAZING. The french toast had a very distinct lemon flavor and was super thick. Halfway through it did start to get too sweet to me but that's my palate. The star of the show was the migas for me though! Their migas was pretty much perfect, probably the best migas i've had to date, and the queso just made it that much better. They were not stingy with all the migas toppings and the bacon came with 3 well cooked crispy pieces. Overall I am very satisfied with my experience today and may begin to make this my new breakfast spot. TLDR; Great To-Go packaging. Even better migas. Good breakfast option. read more

I always enjoy my stops at Kerbey lane. Is it the best breakfast ever? No, but the options are solid, it's tasty and the price to food ratio is reasonable. The cappuccino is huge, which makes the price ok. I had the pancake flight and added some bacon. I liked the strawberry chocolate pancake, does not looks the best but the lightly sweet strawberry jam goes good with the chocolate syrup. Pumpkin pancakes are solid and so is the regular pancake. My server checked in multiple times and refilled my water. Before ordering a final cappuccino I offered moving to the bar in case people were waiting but she said I could stay as long as I wanted. Count your days, Kerbey Lane. The last few times we have gone to the location on 183 and Anderson Mill, we've had bad experiences. Today, I think is the last experience I will have there. They have changed the menu. But the breakfast menu appears intact with no changes (except maybe pricing). Server says he's only worked there 2 weeks. I ordered an iced latte with hazelnut. Comes out as a hot latte. Someone at our table orders a Kerbey lane combo. Server starts asking what sides she wants. What? That combo is always pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, AND fruit. All you do is pick the type of pancakes and cook style for the eggs. He INSISTED that she had to choose and she only gets one side. I showed him the menu where there was AND not OR written with the sides. He said no, they must have printed that wrong. Food comes out. Only fruit with her food. I look up their online ordering - the picture shows ALL 3 SIDES. I went up to a bartender after the meal. I asked him, what would I get if I order a Kerbey Lane Combo? He says at first it is just one side but then I say the menu says you get 3 sides, and he corrects and says yeah, that's right. WTF Kerbey. $13.99 and she didn't get the meats. One of the last times we were there, I ordered an iced latte. The server brought out a hot one. I said that it was supposed to be iced. She comes back to the table with a small glass of ice and proceeds to dump 3 ice cubes in my latte. Didn't take it back to fix it. Ice cubes. Added to hot, hot latte. Nope. Not going back. I went to the University of Texas in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Of course I went to Kerbey Lane on Kerbey Lane, but I went to the northwest location more often. I really enjoyed their queso and fajitas back in the day. Well, the northwest location isn't where it used to be. It looks like any restaurant in a shopping center in America. We had a wait a little bit to be seated. There was a strange smell in the room we were sat in. The waiter took a while before we got drink orders taken. The queso is still good. The chips are not greasy, and you will eat a lot of this. It's not the same, but it is similar. No fajitas. I had the French toast plate, which was good. My brother had the pancakes. They were good too. Other than the name, there was nothing to distinguish Kerbey Lane NW from any breakfast-oriented restaurant. Shame. read more

Kirby is an Austin staple that serves up mouthwatering breakfast at anytime. Not only do they have breakfast they have a wide variety of options including some of the best queso. I stopped in one morning while I was working on a project since they have WiFi. My water was nice and attentive and my food was yummy. The only concern is that the kitchen messed up my order twice! I don't say anything the second time because it took awhile for it to get remade and I was hungry. I also don't like to be that person. Kerbey Lane was touted to my friend who went to school here and lived here that it was the place to go to for breakfast. I think that at some point it may have been but my experience here wasn't the best. We had a group of 6 with the majority of them having had experience here. I looked at the menu and saw the baked potato omelet and got the Hibiscus Mint ice tea as well. Just to be blunt, my omelet came out pretty cold. It's definitely hard to enjoy food when it's not at the temperature it's supposed to be. I may check out the original location but I'm not sure if I'll go back to this location. read more

Had a four-star experience at kerby lane yesterday that I wanted to share! The chicken & pancakes were incredible!! Chicken was hot, fresh, and addicting. I substituted the pancakes it comes with for their seasonal pumpkin pancakes because it's november lol. Shoutout to our waiter who suggested I get the maple buffalo sauce on the side-- saved my life.
