Just had to walk out of this dealership when looking at the Hyundai Kona EV with my partner. We had seen a deal on the Keyes Hyundai website offering a lease rate of $369/month for $3899 down so we were anticipating closing a deal today. We test drive the car (3rd time) and sit down to go over numbers with a sales associate. Out of nowhere we get offered a price of $500 a month with $5,000 down and $2,000 in drive-off fees. When we bring up the special, ask questions about the price they're offering us, we hear "I'll go check". At this point, sales manager EDDIE comes to take over and tell us that this "deal that some other dealer is telling us" is a lie. That the car is in demand and will be well over MSRP by 5-10,000 everywhere else (every dealership we've talked to has used this line). He tells us that he's not lying. I tell him that his OWN WEBSITE lists this deal and is thus lying to potential customers. He doesn't budge. We politely leave. As we are driving home after wasting our time here, EDDIE calls back to explain that we must be looking at Hyundai's website - that it's their deal and not Keyes. We explain, NO, this is YOUR WEBSITE: KeyesHyundai.com that lists this promotion. I'm looking at it right now. He proceeds to argue about this - what he's seeking to gain, i don't know. Takeaway: they do not honor deals posted to their website (apparently it doesn't matter if they're Hyundai the manufacturer's promotions???). Also, they're petty enough to call and argue with you about it. If you aren't going to honor a Hyundai promotion on your own website and you're a Hyundai dealership, I guess own that you are falsely promoting deals so you can drag people in and gouge them. General thoughts: I understand the ridiculous theatre that is car dealerships, but it was HEAVY in this place. AVOID. To Brian: Yes, I understand how lease/financing specials work - I have excellent credit and am confident I would qualify - however, your salespeople have to ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE PROMOTION EVEN EXISTS for us to get to that point. What a horrible experience. My boyfriend and I called ahead to inquire about leasing a Kona EV. We spoke to Albert on the phone, and we mentioned we saw online an offer for $199/mo with $2k down. He explained that the inventory they had available was not for this offer, but that we could get close to $300/mo with a 3k down payment. We decided to make the drive out to see the car and offers available. When we arrived at the dealer we were immediately passed off to a different sales rep than we spoke to, even though we had made an appointment to work with Albert. Before we even saw what was available they told us that even their base model option could get to $300 a month for $6k down!!!! This was outrageous. They claimed this to be due to drive off fees and a down payment, which is beyond outrageous. I mentioned we were told differently and they disregarded the comment. I told them even with higher "drive off" fees the dealer gets the $7500 tax credit which would make our payment lower. They pretended not to know about this caveat. We were continually given misinformation. Them trying to make it seem like we would get the federal tax credit for a leased vehicle which is incorrect. They told us what they had was a base model but then the website deal offered was for a different base model so they conveniently couldn't honor the online offer? After speaking to Brian the general manager saying he would "work with me to find a used engine" nothing has changed and when it comes down to it they can't seem to find a used engine all of a sudden. Now the excuse is they can not find a used engine in my price which I never gave a price range Brian is the one who estimated the used engine prices. this is the very worst Hyundai dealership and service department in the entire state of California. HYUNDAI of VAN NUYS is garbage just like their cars. You called for a service appointment and they can't fit you in for six weeks. They offer no perks, no loaner cars... So if you need service and you have to drop your car off, you're stuck without any transportation. I have to often take a whole day off of work and lose a days pay just to bring my car to Keys HYUNDAI of VAN NUYS for service. General managers don't stay with Keys HYUNDAI of VAN NUYS. Every time I develop a relationship with a general manager, the next thing I know, they are gone and now I have to start all over again. this HYUNDAI has a lot of problems. I'm constantly getting a warning light to check the Sideview mirrors, and if I'm traveling on the freeway at high speeds, and I go to hit the brakes or even tap the brake, the whole front end semi's. When I call to bring my car to have it checked, they can't fit me in for weeks and weeks and can provide me no transportation so I could work . What kind of garbage is this. When you call a service department you want to hear what they can do for you not what they can't do for you. I would avoid this dealership and service center at all costs. I've taken my Ionic 5 to this location 3 times only because they were close to my residence. I should have listened to my instincts and avoided this service center after my first bad experience. First of all, it doesn't matter if you've made an appointment in advance. You will still end up waiting upwards towards an hour just to have them take your car in when you drop it off. There is very little customer service if at all. The last time I had an appointment I told the service advisor that I had a tire leak because I was having to fill it with air every few days. When I picked it up they informed me that they had filled the tire to the specifications. They clearly did not even look at the tire because the next day the tire was low again. I took it to a tire place and within seconds they found a large nail that had punctured the tire. If the Keyes service person had actually examined the tire, they would have found it immediately. This is just one example of why I would not patronize this dealership the list of other reason are too vast to write. Suffice it to say, there are better service centers out there I would choose, even if it means having to drive further. read more

After purchasing a new Ioniq 5 we had a major glitch within a week that rendered the car undriveable. After posting a negative review when there was not someone available to diagnose the car when we came to the dealership twice, I was given the Service Manager's e-mail. He was able to discover the problem within a day and a half. We had to remove the Karr's alarm system because it was causing a feedback loop with the factory installed system. Once that was off, the car drove fine. Beware of add ons to enclosed electrical systems. And be aware that this dealership is currently undergoing a major remodeling so it's challenging for everyone working there. Grateful for the follow through after my initial unhappiness. read more

I took my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe into "Keyes Hyundai Van Nuys", on March 7, 2024. The engine had died due to the failure of the connecting rod bearing that is under recall. On April, 6th 2024 I was called that my car was ready. As I got into the car there was a coffee cup, a water bottle, and a long nose plier left in my vehicle. Then I noticed that the tire pressure warning light was on. I went back to the service department, and they went to refill the air. Note the paperwork shows that it had already been done. I got the car back and proceeded to leave, I traveled about two blocks before turning around. The TPMS light came back on. The right front turn light was out, and the car made a vibrating noise, and didn't have the same feel as before I had the engine problem, they took it back into look at the vehicle again. They fixed the turn light. Told me the problem with the TPMS was the batteries inside it. As for the vibration and poor handling I was told the vehicle needed new motor mounts and said they would fix it for over three thousand dollars. Looking up the part numbers of these motor mounts, they are labeled as engine mounts, the engine is what was replaced. With the engine out, it is the mechanics responsibility to check things such as mounts. They don't just go bad for no reason; something was left loose. None of these problems existed before I brought my car in. The last item on the paperwork was that of a multipoint inspection. If they had inspected my vehicle, these problems would have been found before returning my car to me. read more

I have to give it up to the service department at Keyes Hyundai. While the mechanical problems were an inconvenience and terribly annoying, Hyundai stepped up and plodded through the repair saga right by my side. Pleasant and accommodating through the almost 5 month long ordeal, they took great care of me. They kept me in a loaner the whole time, kept me updated about communications and repair suggestions from corporate, and even got me Lyft rides to and from home for this last leg of the repair(s). They ended up replacing the engine, transmission, intake and exhaust manifolds and catalytic converter. Basically, they hit the reset button on my 2016 Sonata hybrid plug in. At only 77k miles, I have a new car under the hood. Thanks to John Shaw and Len, the service dept manager, for taking such great care of me and my baby. Enjoy the fudge! read more

Here is the story....made an appointment to see a used car, none hyundai, on the lot. After arriving, the salesperson got me the car, and I went for a test drive. While driving, I smelled cigarette smoke residue in the car, which was pretty strong. I asked the salesperson, and she responded by saying, " I don't smell anything," like my nose was lying to me! Now I sat down reluctantly, and the sales person immediately wanted to run my credit! I said, "Hold on, let's strike a deal first, but I am not paying your asking price with this smell in the car, which you should have disclosed." She wasn't getting offended, she was smart and doesn't let anyone walk over her. She was negotiating. Anyways, this Sales Manager was just a plain crook, telling me my credit score was one thing & when I checked my score in 3 different methods & places, all of them were the same thing and wayyyyyy above the number that HE was telling us, In other words, wanting the APR to be higher. That's a total thief move right there. I wonder how many of people he's fooled when it came to that part. Note to the readers: ask for a copy of your credit score. They got a printer, they can print it for you . . . it's not like they're losing an arm or a leg or half of the company if they do. Anyway, this dude was just trying to take advantage of us just because we were young. Yeah, we may be young but we're not stupid nor uneducated; we do & did our homework. So when we decided to leave because he pretty much told us "I have one car left on the lot, I can sell this to another client in a few days" that was just a slap to our faces, pretty much saying in other words "I'm not going to sell this to you because imma lose profit" that was clear indication that he didn't want to sell us the 2021 Hyundai Elantra Limited. So when we got up, that's when he asked "how much were you looking to pay per month?" Moves like that annoy the hell out of me. Pretty much like he wasn't willing to work with us in the first place and now that we want led to leave, now he's all of a sudden interested. That kind of BS attitude needs to stop So because of the way he treated my sister and ran my credit, spent 3 hours of waiting and getting nowhere, I do not recommend this place. All these stars ratings of 4+ I don't buy it. If it was that true, that lot would be half empty but the lot was so full of cars. And the Mark Up; omg, we bought a car this year (2021) and the other dealership didn't even sell us the car with that mark up. My experience there initially was five stars, but when we dealt with the "financial person" whose name is Lucine, the rating dropped to a one star... The moment we walked in to her office to sign the final paper work you can sense the atmosphere was very uncomfortable. She never said hello and walked out of the office as soon as we sat down because she needed "more paperwork?" We waited Approximately 10 or so minutes, and we had already been there for 3 and a half hours. We had to notify a salesman and asked if Lucine was cutting down trees? To get her paperwork? When she arrived she never apologized for keeping us waiting and from that point on she was rude and was explaining the documents with her back towards us. She never made eye contact and mumbled through the process??? Im a professional nurse and we deal with patients all day and if im having attitude or a bad day, i never take it out on customers! Period! Lucine needs to go! Im very disappointed with this lady who has no manners, no consideration for peoples time and has a special skill in making you feel uncomfortable! We leased a Hyundai Kona EV which we had for less than 4 months. The regenerative brakes warning light started coming on about month 2. They told us it was a "software glitch" and we took the vehicle in to update the software. We came to pick up the car, all done, and when we GOT INTO THE CAR the brake warning lit up again. Meanwhile online research shows this is an issue with these cars for years, and accidents have happened when the KONA EV brakes fail. The prior year model had a recall on these brakes but I guess they just kept pushing cars out the next year with the same problem. They said they needed to replace the brake module. Keyes have had the car for 10 days now because they can't get any brake modules due to supply chain issues. They tell us they have NO IDEA when they'll be able to fix the car. Meantime we are driving a gas powered replacement car that they are providing. Not at all the economic or environmental result we hoped and planned for. We have no recourse except to wait and wait and wait some more. Highly recommend you don't lease a car from a dealer who will sell you a vehicle with known safety problems and not tell you .... or a manufacturer that releases new models with known defects and then can't even supply parts to fix their defects. No more Hyundai's ever again. read more

I had a 12:00 appointment which I was able to make online. The setup was easy so that was nice. When I arrived to the service center it was really awkward. There were a lot of people swarming around but no one was able to help me or the growing line of cars with appointments for like 10 minutes. We just stood by our cars and were told "someone is coming to check you in" but that someone was just 1 very busy person who clearly had too much to do for 1 person so I don't blame him but when you've got a huge line of customers it's pretty weird that none of the other 10 people around can check people in. Next I get checked in and told the service will be about 2 hours. That's fine and expected. My total cost for a headlight bulb and an oil change was $205...a little high but I figured I'm already here whatever. About 2.5 hours later the tech comes by and says my car is ready head to the cashier. I pay and am told to wait outside the valet guy will bring your car around in just a minute. I give my ticket to the poor guy who is also responsible for checking everyone in and he says he'll grab the car they're just finishing up the exterior wash.10 minutes, 20, 30....I'm still standing outside waiting for my car. Numerous employees have asked me if I've been helped and I say yes they're washing my car but at this point I'm getting annoyed as I've seen customer after customer come out and grab their keys. It's also like 93 degrees outside so I'm hot and being told any minute my car will be ready. The guy comes out and says they lost my car and have no idea where it is...the keys are gone and they're looking for it. At this point I didn't even know how to respond so I was just like...ooook. 10 minutes later he brings the car out DIRTY!! They didn't even do the wash! I was so mad. I told them the least they could do was wash the car like they said they were supposedly doing the last 45 minutes. I go in and sit down in the AC and wait the additional 15 minutes for them to "wash" my car. They come in and give me the keys. I can tell my glovebox was gone through based on the way everything fell out when I opened it. I didn't see anything missing but who knows. My house keys were removed from my car keys and thrown on the seat. This was just a horrible experience and I suggest you avoid this for service. One star because the people were friendly. read more
