Oh my god, where do I even begin. This review is about my service experience with Keyes Hyundai. I did not purchase my car with them because their prices were insanely high compared to other dealerships. If you are looking for a Hyundai I would recommend one of the Cardinale Way Hyundai dealerships that I got a MUCH BETTER deal from. That being said, my car has been having a horrible problem where the battery keeps dying. It's still under warranty so I brought it in to Keyes Hyundai because they were much closer to me. Donovan, who will be a recurring figure in this horrendous experience, assured me my problem would be looked into immediately and that I would be able to pick my car up before the trip I was leaving for in 2 days. Of course that was a lie as they didn't even begin looking at my car until after I had to leave town. Also, Hyundai will tell you that they have this "amazing warranty" but when you need to bring your car in to get the battery checked it will take DAYS and Keyes Hyundai conveniently never has any loaner cars on the lot any time I've ever called to schedule bringing my car in to them. When I returned from being out of town they told me that there was no problem with my battery. When I went to pick up the car however I had to wait there for almost 45 minutes BECAUSE MY BATTERY WAS DEAD AND THEY HAD TO BREAK INTO MY CAR TO START IT! No joke! I was late for a doctors appointment as Donovan stood there panicking as I asked where my car was and I watched him talking to the technicians who told him my battery was dead and they couldn't get into my car. Eventually I drove all the way to one of the much further Cardinale Way Hyundai dealerships where I was treated SO MUCH BETTER and my problems finally taken care of with ease. Also, they have loaner cars on the lot and seem to actually care about their customers. Anyway in my experience/opinion Keyes Hyundai is overpriced, liars, and just plain incompetent. read more

The paint on my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is peeling and bubbling and looks absolutely awful. When I saw another identical car with similar issues, I looked into it and found that this is a KNOWN Hyundai problem for this make and model. HOWEVER, when we brought the car to your dealership to have them help us, they declined, stating the expired warranty and mileage as their reason for not fixing this problem. Until now, we have touted the longevity and service for my Hyundai. I am no longer comfortable with that. It is embarrassing to drive this car. And, I'm extremely disappointed in the dismissive manner with which you handled this KNOWN issue. It's all over the internet that Hyundai is aware of the problem and has worked with owners to rectify it, even after the warranty has expired. If you want to have the reputation for long-lasting, reliable vehicles and excellent customer service, this is NOT the way to go about it. I took my Elantra there...Approched the first stand, the guy said firmly "I'm in a middle of something" not in a friendly way, the 2nd guy was good at first, did almost everything, then went on lunch break and i didn't see him anymore..Thankfully the 3rd guy helped me finally to rush up the work..Besides that the 2nd guy wanted to charge me 100+ dollars for a simple fuse change..Thankfully the 3rd guy didn't take anything from me which was a huge relief, because fuse change is the smallest thing..Should NOT cost anyone 100+ dollars..So yeah, i'm not sure to recommend this place or not.. read more

Zero stars if I could. In July, my wife, my mother-in-law, and I leased 3 cars from this dealership. The last one, an Ioniq 5, was leased on July 25, 2025. At first, everything seemed fine. On August 15, 2025, I received a call saying they were just finalizing the loan and that if I didn't receive an account number by 08/26, the dealer would push back the first payment since the issue was on their end. A few days later, I called Hyundai Finance and was told the dealership didn't submit the paperwork until 08/22--late. I was also told that no payment was due until 09/26/2025. When I reached out to my salesperson, I was told to speak with the Finance Director, Lucine. I called for three days straight, but no one in finance ever answered. Only sales would pick up, transfer me, and then the line would just ring endlessly. Eventually, my salesperson said the dealer would "make the August payment," which made no sense. Hyundai Finance had already confirmed (twice) that the first payment wasn't due until September 26. Then, on 09/03/2025, my wife received a rude and unprofessional call from Lucine, demanding that we pay the dealership directly for a supposed "August payment." Hyundai Finance confirmed again that no payment was made or needed until September 26. When my wife asked why there had been no communication, Lucine claimed an email had been sent but couldn't provide it when asked. She then dismissed our concerns, said "It doesn't matter," continued to demand payment, threatened collections, and hung up. This entire experience has been nothing but stress, mismanagement, and disrespect. We had to chase them for answers, and when they finally did call, it was to demand money they weren't owed. It's shocking that a dealership allows someone like Lucine to hold such a high-ranking position. If you value professionalism, honesty, and peace of mind, stay far away from this dealership. Avoid this place at all costs. Took my brand-new Hyundai (2,000 miles) to Hyundai of Keyes for a tire issue. On Aug 5, 2025, they called and said the tire would be free under warranty. Four days later, when I came to pick it up, Service Advisors Carlos Montoya and Richard Perez suddenly demanded payment, were incredibly rude, and refused to release my car until I paid. I never signed anything agreeing to the charge. Dishonest, unprofessional, and zero respect for customers. read more

I've been a loyal customer here for over three years. I purchased my car from them and consistently came back for maintenance. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. During my last visit, I was significantly overcharged and aggressively upsold on repairs that, after getting second and third opinions, turned out to be completely unnecessary. Two independent mechanics confirmed that the work they recommended wasn't needed at all. It feels like this place is no longer about customer care, but profit. Dealer kept my car overnight without prior notice. At 5 pm, I called dealer, waiting from 9am for an update. It was closed. Later a rep called, on his way home from Dr to say he'd call after he got home to discuss estimate. I said call me in the morning. Next day, I was given an unreasonable estimate ($2500) to fix the locks on my door and trunk. I had earlier researched the price of the parts. Nothing but an oil Change was done. I was charged $619. $500 for "diagnostic" to find out the lock is broke and door handles need to be replaced which I had told dealer when I first left the car - Nightmare experience at this dealership. read more

I recently brought my car to this Hyundai service center for a repair and paid over $1,000 for the initial service. After picking up my vehicle, I was told the issue was fixed. However, the problem was not fixed at all--my car was in the exact same condition. When I returned, the staff showed little to no concern. Instead of taking responsibility, they repeatedly said things like "well, at least we cleaned these issues," and admitted they couldn't actually find the problem. If they were unable to diagnose or fix the issue, that should have been clearly communicated when I picked up my car, rather than telling me it was repaired. I brought my car back again, and only then did they seem to finally fix the issue. Due to their lack of accountability, I had to demand a refund for the first service, which did absolutely nothing to resolve my problem. Even worse, I was made to wait over two weeks for my refund. I only received the check after threatening to involve my lawyer, which should never be necessary for a refund caused by their own negligence and failure to properly communicate. Their lack of transparency, accountability, and customer care is unacceptable. I will never trust this service department again, and I strongly caution others before bringing their vehicle here. read more

This has to be one of the worst service departments I have encountered. STAY AWAY! I called to get details on my vehicle to get it fixed in a timely manner. Their employees decide my questions are too much so they hang up in my face. They couldn't find my warranty that I pay for every month through them . They said I don't have it . I get in contact with finance they figure it out Thank God . I go to the dealership they have me waiting for over an hour with no other customers there . I have tire and wheel warranty and there employee Jonathon say it will take two days for it to get approved. He is extremely rude and has no sense of urgency to help. I call my protection company they say it only takes an hour or two for the approval. They have no loaners per the loaner manager. I asked to speak with a manager they say it's none available. Seems like they need a whole new team of people who can assist costumers appropriately and get things done . read more

They're good when they want your money (sales and service) but are not there for you when you call about a contract issues. Instead of being professional, by just taking your number and calling you back, they will continuously disconnect your calls or just leave you on hold. This could be a receptionist problem.--The receptionists may be too lazy to take your name and number.-- idk What I do know is that their Finance Department's customer service doesn't exist. Absolutely ridiculous experience. I called this dealership to report an issue with my car, and was told the only option is to drop it off and wait a week and a half for them to even look at it. I asked about a loaner, and they said there are none available -- unless I go on a 2 to 3 week waiting list. But to get on that list? Yep, you still have to drop off your car first. So let me get this straight: I drop off my car, wait a week and a half for them to fix it, and then, two weeks later, I get a loaner? For what exactly? My already-fixed car? Make it make sense. When I told the service rep this made no sense at all, he snapped back, "There are 39 people ahead of you," like I was being unreasonable for even questioning the logic. As if my money didn't matter. Like I was just supposed to nod and accept nonsense service because that's how they do it here. I called a different dealership and got service right away -- respectful, prompt, and helpful. So yes, there are better options out there. Avoid this location unless you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience instead of a paying customer. read more

The worst dealership ever!!' Everyone there is rude. Jason Jhee, Sorry that I have to be making you but I've been having some issues with your team at Hyundai Van Nuys. My car had been dying randomly - 6 times I finally brought it in to see what was wrong. I left it there and was given a loaner. I believe I dropped it off on a Thursday or Friday. I called over that weekend to see if there was an update and the gentleman who answered pulled my information and asked if I had spoken with Johnathan, I had not. He said I needed to speak with him only. I asked him why, he then asked when the last time I spoke with him was. I told him when I dropped the car off. He said "hmmm, and he hasn't called you?" I said, "no why, what's wrong with my car?" He said "it looks like you put an after market security system on it" I told him "No I did not do such thing, I only had the windows tinted and that's it" e said "well you need to speak to Jonathan let me try to call him to see if he can call you" I heard nothing back. Then the girl who handles your loaners calls and leaves me a voice mail, when I called her back she was very rude "you have a loaner, you need to bring it back now, it's due, your car is ready" I said "no one has even told me what's wrong with my car, and why are you acting like I stole a car from your lot?" She said "no one's called you, I was told they've been trying to reach out to you" no one had called. She then said "they removed your low jack, that's what was killing your battery" confused that they removed something without my permission. I asked if that was acceptable she said I'd need to talk to that department but my car was ready. I went to pick up my car and the girl who helped me told me the same thing but could t give me any answers and told me I needed to talk to the finance manager. I went over there to the finance dept but she was "busy" with a customer. I left her multiple voice mails. Finally she called me back to inform me you guys don't have low jack and that the would have removed my security system. Again without my permission/authorization. I then informed her that my speakers have been blown since I had my car back and my windshield wipers were ripped. She said she would deduct the security system from my bill and have the parts / service manager call me and that she would call me back. I have since gone in there twice to speak with Lucina. But she won't talk to me. My speakers aren't replaced and I was told nothing could be done about my windshield wipers. I want to know why this service is acceptable? I purchased the car at that dealership. And ever since I walked out of there the service has been horrible. I want to know why they removed something from my car without talking to me first. And I want to cancel every extended warranty that was placed on my car. read more

Myles Blake in Sales and , Lucine Martirosian in Finance made my recent experience probably the best car buying experience I have had in years. We had an issue with a car we bought in 2017, it was still under warranty and the service department were CHAMPIONS. They took care of every detail. However, in the meantime, we decided we need a new car and the service and support was exceptional. Myles listened to what we needed, provided solutions that made sense and Lucine helped us clearly understand what was ahead of us for payments and terms of the purchase. The car has been a fantastic choice. I absolutely recommend Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys. From the moment you walk in, you feel like they are ready to listen and help. My wife and I have had an unfortunate series of experiences at Keyes Hyundai of Van Nuys. In July, we were negotiating the purchase of a new Hyundai EV. After much back and forth we had an agreement with our salesperson, Shakespeare, to purchase a specific car at a specific price. We even verified the car in advance by VIN. However, when we arrived at the dealership Shakespeare told us that the actual price for the car was $1,000 higher. My wife and I walked out and Shakespeare followed us to the parking lot. He agreed to drop the price by $500 and also throw in a charger and all weather floor mats. Because the value of the charger and floor mats made up the remaining $500 difference we agreed to the deal. When we went to pick up the car they did not include the floor mats because they were not available. They offered no alternative. We told them in no uncertain terms that we expected them to honor the deal and provide the floor mats at a later date. Now months later, we still don't have the floor mats. Shakespeare has stopped responding to our texts. We've called the dealership multiple times asking to speak with a manager and no one has called us back. When we finally reached someone over email, they apologized for our frustration and delay and promised to have someone contract us to resolve the situation. That was two weeks ago and still nothing even though I've continued to follow up. Keyes Hyundai not only have now reneged twice on deals they made with us but they've been completely unresponsive -- not even calling us back. I cannot recommend anyone do business with this dealership. We certainly won't anymore. read more

They have bungled the simplest of task and in the process screwed me out of thousands of dollars. They are unresponsive, and terrible. Whatever you do, stay away from this dealership. I honestly couldn't have had a worse experience. I'm a single woman just trying not to get taken advantage of, and I've never felt more disrespected or manipulated at a dealership. I originally came in ready to buy. I asked repeatedly for transparency and told them to stop with the sales tricks and half-truths -- but they kept at it anyway. It got so bad that I finally walked out, with the manager literally yelling after me that they'd "stop playing games" if I came back. Right. I ended up hiring a car broker (amazing experience, highly recommend) who was able to get me the exact deal I wanted -- from this same dealership -- without me having to deal with them directly. I was relieved... until it came time to return my lease. For over a month now, I've been trying to return my car and it's been a nightmare. I called the lease return manager every single day for a week and a half and left voicemails -- she never once called me back. After two weeks I finally got an appointment, but it was scheduled two more weeks out. When the day came, no one had told me I needed a separate inspection first (they don't do them on-site), so I had to cancel and start over. I got the inspection, but then had a family emergency and tried to reschedule -- only to get nothing but attitude and dismissiveness from both the receptionist and the lease return manager. I loved my car, but I will never buy or lease from this dealership again because of how unprofessional, evasive, and downright rude they've been every step of the way. Don't EVER take your car here for service. I had my car towed here after my dashboard lit up with a "Check Hybrid System, Turn Engine Off" message while driving on the freeway with my 4-month old in the car; the car drastically decelerated and my car was barely sputtering along. I had taken it to my regular auto shop guy last week for a "Refill Inverter Coolant" message, but he said the fluid levels were fine and to take it to the dealership for what his team said looked like a battery issue, and I'm still under warranty. I got an appointment over the phone, but was told it might take a week just for a diagnosis (what?!). I approved for the technician to conduct an extended test drive overnight for what I was told would be 60 miles, and when I got my car back it had been driven for 160 miles. Keyes supposedly found nothing wrong with the car and luckily waived the $230 diagnostic fee, but of course I find that questionable after reading the other reviews on here. When I got my car back, I found cigarette ash inside the driver's side door on my side mirror and window controls, on the floor mat, and I could smell stale cigarette smoke inside my car. I even took video and photos while I was still in the valet pickup bay. Absolutely appalling to not only treat your customers' vehicles this way, but who sees an infant car seat base in the backseat and thinks it's okay to expose someone else's baby to toxic thirdhand smoke?! Another fun parting gift today was finding a long nail sticking out of my driver's side tire! The last time I had taken my car to this location was over a year ago when they gave me a quote of around $3K for some regular maintenance, including services that I explicitly told the advisor I had already gotten done elsewhere and didn't need. The kicker after I refused Keyes' service was discovering a day later that my car charger was missing from my trunk. Just, wow... read more

Cannot tell you how much I hate leaving bad reviews. But honestly I am really frustrated. My son tried booking online and couldn't get an appointment. He finally called in and set up an appointment. Upon his arrival he waited greater than 30 minutes to speak with the advisor. Once he met with the advisor, he was recommended service. $1699 for a basic service on his car. This is a 3 year old car that up until now his service has been paid by Hyundai. He sent the quote to me for review. These guys are out of control. They were selling him services due at 90,000 miles, not the 20,000 he has on the vehicle. Completely unacceptable taking advantage of a naive young man. Putting profits over honesty is not good business practices. I have bought several cars from Keyes. I guess this ends today. Shame on you for taking advantage of people. read more

He mentioned my car needed to be looked at, but since I only have 2 months left on my lease, I asked if I could see what options were available. That's when he introduced me to Chris Shadley--and I ended up walking out with a brand new Palisade! Chris is one of the most knowledgeable, kind, and positive people I've ever met. I should have learned my lesson from last year after having an atrociously bad experience with the service department last year, but unfortunately I didn't. Last year I got caught up in the change in ownership of this dealership and had horrific experience trying to get a massive engine problem warranty issue taken care of by them. There was an unbelievable turn over in staff - I dealt with 4 different service reps during that time and it took them over a month to do the repairs on the car. It was awful from start to finish. This time, I had a large crack on my windshield that I needed to get replaced. After calling arounds, Keyes Van Nuys was the one that told me that had the windshield in stock and it could be replaced today. And they had a 9:30am appointment they could get me in this morning. Because they were the option I had and I didn't want to be driving around with an unsafe crack, I took the appointment. After arriving before my 9:30am appointment time, I was stuck in a humongous line of cars at the service department. It took an hour for a representative to see me. He promptly told me that they did NOT have the windshield in stock, it would take 5 days for them to get it plus then he would need to hire someone to come and install it. They don't even have a person in house who does that sort of work. He also said it would be between $1500-2000 to replace and calibrate. I said I would need a more accurate quote and he came back with a total cost of $2300. Thankfully I asked since his "estimate" was low. That price and timeline was not acceptable to me and the service rep didn't care that the person on the phone had told me the part was in stock and that the work could be done that day. So there was no chance I was going to stay after being made to wait around so long and once again be treated so rudely. I spoke with Safelight who has the certified Hyundai windshield in stock, they can do the replacement and recalibration tomorrow morning for me at their facility and have my car back within 3 hours. Grand total for the windshield, the labor and the recalibration plus new windshield wipers $1400. Nearly $1000 cheaper than the dealership. Plus everyone I have spoken with at Safelight has been so wonderful and helpful. The polar opposite of Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys. Also wanted to note that my overall experience with this dealership was so bad that after owning/leasing 4 Hyundai Santa Fe's in my life, I will never again be purchasing a Hyundai product. That is how terrible my experience has been with this one dealership. read more

I dropped my car off at 10 am for service they told me it would take up to 3 hours, I wasn't told this when I made the appointment by the way. I got a basic oil change done to my car and it took them over 5 hours to get done. It was such an inconvenience to me because I had other things to do. Taking someone's time for granted is unacceptable also with no courtesy call for updates since it surpassed the promiseis also rude. I don't recommend getting arrived unless you don't need your call all day. read more

Keyes reached out to me in September 2025 and offered to take over my lease if I leased a newer model through their dealership. I agreed, as they contracted with me to pay off all remaining lease payments and obligations on the old lease. In September I gave them my older model vehicle - a 2023 Ioniq5 in perfect condition. The old lease was to expire in January 2026. They never paid off the old lease and Hyundai Finance has been writing and calling me demanding payment. Keyes claims it sent a check in January but after weeks of asking for proof, they keep putting me off. -- promising to call me back and promising to send me a copy of the check. I wouldn't do any business with Keyes after this experience which is now putting my credit at risk read more
