I won't be returning to the service department unless it is for a necessary repair of a warrantied item. I called about 12:40p with a tire issue - gentleman was lovely on the phone, said he would alert the service team and someone would call me back shortly (within about 30 minutes). 2.5 hours later, still no word, but I needed to go to Keyes to resign paperwork, anyway, so I went - the young man at the service desk acted like I was from Mars when I said I spoke with someone who said they would call me back. He said they "probably couldn't get to my car today because it's already after 3p and we close at 5". I just wanted my tire looked at to assess if it needed a patch from a nail or if the nozzle was bad. His response was "well, if you need a tire, we may not even have it in stock and we don't keep the parts here to fix it if it's bad, but my guy MIGHT be able to look at it. It will take a couple of hours if we can, so you will have to wait, but we might need to keep it over night" Are you kidding me? keep it overnight for a tire patch? I asked them to try to squeeze me in and let me know, so at the very least, I would know what the issue was by the time I was done with the finance department. About 4:00, no one had looked at it, yet - but it had "just been assigned to a technician". Again, I was told there would be no promises it would even be looked at, as they didn't know if they had time to put it up on the lift and run diagnostics. I didn't need a computer diagnostic - I simply needed eyes on a tire. smdh. Long story short, I asked for my keys back, went up the street to Discount Tire, where they not only got it fixed within an hour, they didn't even charge me. After seeing their prices posted for regular maintenance on their wall, I will be taking my car there for the foreseeable future. It really shouldn't have taken up 4 hours of my day simply trying to find out if I needed a new tire or a patch. Even with the wait, it should have been handled so much better. Honestly, when I purchased this car back in December, I was debating on this one, and a Mercedes that was in the EXACT same price range. I had a Mercedes before that was GREAT - and their customer service was exceptional. Ultimately, I decided on the Hyundai because of the warranty and financing available. Made a deal with this company by phone to lease a new Elantra. They met the price we were looking for, but the entire customer service experience was awful. Since we were coming from Irvine, we wanted everything to be prepared and ready for pickup of the car. It wasn't. We waited for hours and finally discovered they couldn't find one of the keys. We finally had to leave with the car and one key. Now, they're making us drive back up to pick up the key rather than having the programmer deliver it to us. You'd expect that spending $30,000 for a car would buy you decent service, but not from Keyes. We'll be finding another dealer to handle our service and future car purchases. read more

First let me say NEVER AGAIN! I leased and purchased two cars here and my wife purchased hers here as well. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS A RIP OFF AND SCAM. I use to be happy with this dealership until they personally cost me money. Every time I would bring it in for maintenance and oil changes i assumed they were also rotating the tires.... Or at the very least notifying me about them needing to be rotated... THEY NEVER DID! I eventually took my car into another tire shop and the guy there told me that my tires have never been rotated.... HOW?!? so now I'm out 4 new tires. COOL! Fast forward to my most recent inspection/oil change. The service department guy casually tells me I'm due for $5,000 worth of work. Huh??? I brought up my brakes because I felt like they needed to be looked at. He assured me they would. When they finished with my car (I didn't do the services for $5,000 because I wanted an another place to look at it) I asked how were the brakes? The rep said "they look great!" ........ they were not "great." I took my car to another shop and after their free inspection the total work needed to be done on my car was $800.00. The brakes needed new discs and pads and fluid. Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys what are you doing to your long time customers??? LOOK AND HOW MANY 1 STAR REVIEWS YOU HAVE..... DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! When I arrived I asked the person whom helped me how long it would take as Iwas going to wait while my car got seeviced. They mentioned 2 hours average. My car was not ready until 4 hours later. I gave it a 2 star because the person assisting me was communicating but it was the worse experience I have had at a dealership. An oil change takes no longer than 20 min. On average. I understand first come first serve however what is the point of an appointment if I am going to wait 4 hours. That is absurd. read more

I have been coming in for the past few years trying to get my husband to purchase a new car, and I'm so happy that we happened to get Chris as the sales person. There were no back and forth. I told them my budget. No coming in too high and going back and forth to lower or haggle. Just a good deal within my budget and transparency in the whole process, which I greatly appreciated. I have never written a Yelp review but I feel compelled to warn people about the horrible service at Keyes Hyundai Van Nuys. Wish I could give zero stars. (For context: my car was making weird sounds so I took it to my local mechanic who told me my car was burning oil and I need to have my engine checked. He kindly changed my oil for free and told me to visit my dealership.) I went into Hyundai and explained what the mechanic said and they told me I needed to fist get an oil change before they could do any inspections. I told them I had gotten one three days prior, but they insisted they have to do it themselves. Which, sure, I understand if you're needing to track metrics, but they had the audacity to attempt to charge me $260!!! I have gotten hundreds of oil changes at Valvoline and the like and have never paid over $50. I explained this to my service advisor JONATHAN V and asked why I would need to pay such a hefty sum, and he was SO rude. He basically said, "well, if you want to go somewhere else you can, but that's what we do here." No explanation, just sass. I am a petite woman in my 20s. Of course, when I had my boyfriend call to discuss with him, they bumped the price down to $100. Interesting... so when I ask for an explanation/push back, they are rude and stay firm at charging $260, but when a MAN calls and pushes back, they bump the price down $150? So, I do the oil change and drive 1000 miles and then make an appointment to come back in as requested. I come in at my appointment time/date and am told, "Jonathan isn't here, so you'll have to come back another day." I made the appointment through their scheduling team... it's not my responsibility to know Jonathan's schedule. So, after pushing back (again) and explaining I was unable to come back another time, they changed advisors. I got a new guy and he explains that they'll need to hold my car for 3 days to do a chamber cleaning, but first it needs to be approved by Hyundai corporate. I ask for the courtesy car that Jonathan had said he put me on the list for, and was told I was never put on the list. So, I had to rent a car for $250 at the Hertz next door. A week later, I am told to come pick up my car and that the chamber cleaning was not approved. Here's what I learned: 1. My car was held for 7 days... not 3. And in that time, they never did anything with my car. Just had it sit there while they waited on approval for Hyundai. AKA I had to pay for a rental car the whole time... for no reason. 2. My chamber cleaning was not approved because of MILEAGE AND WARRANTY. Mileage and warranty are apparent before an oil change, before driving 1000 miles, before anything. So I did all of that... for no reason. I asked why they didn't tell me ahead of time and they kept saying, "we're not at liberty to say or guess until Hyundai approves or denies." What in the "politics"?! 3. When I asked for clarification on why they would have me do all of this, they kept saying, "this is just how we do it here." So how you do it here is scam people out of their money... for no reason?? Now, I'm out $350 and still have no diagnosis on what's wrong with my car. Either I pay $1000 more for the chamber cleaning (which still isn't a diagnosis) or I just let it be and hope for the best. A huge waste of time, money, and sanity, because these people have no empathy and just want to take your money. BEWARE. I'll be getting a new car as soon as I can and I will NEVER purchase a Hyundai ever again. read more

We went to Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys, CA and test drove a Tucson. He decided to purchase the vehicle that day and we came back that evening to complete the transaction. We decided on a fair price (MSRP with no additional dealer add-ons) and was told by Bobby Hooker (Sales) that we could choose from either 1.99% financing or $1250 cash back, one or the other but not both. We chose the 1.99% financing. We were led to financing and we seated in Michael Iriana's office. He offered us optional service packages, all of which we declined. After that, Michael said that he had made a mistake on the contract, and he quickly made a "correction" to the contract on his computer. We did not have a printout of the contract, nor was one offered to us. Michael handed my brother an electronic signature pad and instructed him to start sighing boxes as they appeared (all without explanation). After the 3rd box popped up, I asked Michael what my brother was signing. He looked a little embarrassed and turned his computer monitor toward us and pulled up the contract. While this was hardly ideal, we were able to look at the contract and get a general feel for what was going on. (This was a completely different experience from my Ontario Hyundai experience as the Finance Manager had a printed copy of the contract in front of me and walked me through with an explanation of every signature and initial that was required on the contract. We noted that under the sales price was a line with a -500.00 credit. We asked Michael what this was for and he said that it was a refund for an option that we had declined (catalytic converter engraving) and he showed us the "mistake" on the contract which indicated a charge of $580 for catalytic converter etching. He said the minus $500 field was a refund to offset that cost (we later found out he was lying and that the -$500 transaction was actually a rebate associated with the 1.99% financing deal). At that time we had no idea that there was an additional $500 dollar rebate so in the interest of time my brother continued to sign and we completed the contract. We later found out there was a $500 rebate, so we did some investigating. We raised the car and inspected the catalytic converter and noted there was no engraving or plate with an anti-theft identifier on it. We called PermaPlate, the company that provides this service and they described what we should be looking for on the catalytic converter. The identifiers were not there. We came to the realization Michael had defrauded us and the Hyundai Corporation by selling a product that was not even installed on the vehicle. We went back to the dealership the next day and spoke with the General Manager of Sales, Taimur Amin. We requested a refund and an apology from Michael (we have received neither) for his fraudulent actions. Taimur expressed shock at how this "accident and misunderstanding" could have occurred and issued a check request for a refund of the $580 that would be in our mailbox in 6 days. We still have not received the check and we have called twice with no response. read more

Too busy and don't care to follow through with commitments. So I've been in the market for a 2025 Hyundai Tuscon Plugin Hybrid (PHEV) in the top end Limited trim. I had done a search at TrueCar and started getting emails and texts from local dealers. Keyes Hyundai is very close so I responded and made an appointment to test drive the PHEV. I came in and the salesman informed me that the PHEV was "buried" and not available to be brought out. I agreed to text drive the standard hybrid but let them know I wasn't going to consider a purchase without testing the PHEV. I got emails and texts from several other people in the dealership trying to "earn my business" The "Sales Manager", Chantal Bojorquez was the one who continued to try to get me back into the dealership. I setup a 2nd test drive appointment by email with Chantal. There were a couple of delayed responses to which she said she was off that day. That day I emailed Chantal but did not get a response so I called the dealership directly The person who answered the phone for New Car Sales confirmed the car would be available to test drive. I explained that I had been there before and that the car was unavailable due to being "buried" and that I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my time. I was assured it was "No problem". I arrived for the text drive, with my wife along, and there was no one at reception. After standing around, and seeing several men in the glass office, I walked over and explained that I was there to test drive the Tuscon PHEV. I was told someone would be out to help me. Shortly after two salesmen came out. One introduced the other as the person who would help me. They both asked me to take a seat while they went to see where the car was. I explained that I had a confirmed text drive for that specific car, that this was the 2nd time I had been there and that I wasn't going to wait around if they didn't know where the car was. They indicated that they didn't know where it was but would go look for it. The both made excuses of being too busy and under-staffed. I re-iterated that this was Round 2 and that I was not going to wait around. We left. When I got home I emailed Chantal and several others from the Sales Management page of their website. Including; Tatiane Bridges Customer Relations Director, Taimur Amin Sales Manager and Sean Evans General Manager. I got no response at all. read more

Horrible customer service. I called the service department to talk to an advisor around 9:00am and was told all advisors are currently busy and the next available advisor will call you back. I never received a call from anybody so I placed a second call at around 11:00am and was told the same. It is now 2:45pm and I just got off the phone with the receptionist and was told they will either call you or if they don't its best to just bring the vehicle over to the dealership!!!!??? This is so ridiculous and it is not the first time because when I first purchased my 2025 Santa Fe just a few months ago I had to take it there to replace a defective fender molding. I was waiting to speak to someone for over an hour when the service department barely had any customers waiting for an advisor. Poor customer service. read more

Went in for a tire check on my new Kona. I needed more but was told the day before that they no longer do diagnostic on Saturdays. The good: the people. Donovan and Liliana are the best. Donovan was kind, listened to everything, and offered great suggestions. Liliana went over and above to help and with a smile. Also when I called in the morning to tell them I couldn't make the appointment I'd scheduled they offered to reschedule for a time I could make the same day. Amazing! The bad: a 30-minute wait even though I arrived on time. No one even came to the car for 20 minutes (I timed it). Terrible experience here everyone seems extremely stuck up, I came with my genesis looking for a part and from the start was eyeballed by all reps as if I was casing the joint. After solving the mystery of having to find the parts department I left. To shortly have to return the next day because I was given the wrong part. And after coming back to return it instead of giving me a refund they tried to upsell me on the actual part I needed. I refused because I had already got it somewhere else. After hearing that they told me they can't refund me on the spot and would have to mail a check. I wrote all my information and address clearly only for that check to never show up it's been about a month now and they have no clue what happened. I will never do business with Keyes Hyundai ever again. I leased my second vehicle from them in December 2024 and the experience has been terrible. I turned in my lease a few months early to lease an Ionic 5 and we agreed that I would pay off the remaining months left on the lease but they would waive the mileage overage (about $300). Cut to four months later and I have Hyundai Finance coming after me about the $300. I called our salesman Shakespeare and he refused to honor the deal I made with him. The manager who was working there apparently no longer is there and so he couldn't "confirm." I left two messages for the current GM of the dealership to call me back after Shakespeare refused to honor the deal he made and was ghosted. In short, they don't honor the deals they make and don't even call back. This place sucks and I'll never return. Stay away. read more

I've heard the phrase "I'm sorry that happened" at least 8 times before my visit concluded. They allowed another customer to cut in front of me, then directed me to the other of 2 intake lines, resulting in an additional 30 minute wait for intake after the line cutter's car was sent on for service. Simple oil changes now take 3 1/2- 4 hours- only took 2 hours last year. "Hey we have hundreds of clients daily and even though you made a reservation that doesn't impact anything." Plan ahead if you're trying to use this location for service. But hey, "sorry that happened"- the most insincere of all responses and not one person ever trying to correct a situation they messed up to begin with. Buyer beware. read more

They did not start on my car until I was there for 1 1/ hours. It ended up taking over 3 hours for an oil change. My car has been sitting at your dealership for four months due to a confirmed ABS system issue, and absolutely nothing has been done to resolve it. I've been told for months that your team is trying to locate an inspector to verify the issue for warranty approval. I even offered to personally demonstrate the issue to the inspector during a test drive, but that still hasn't moved anything forward. To make matters worse, I emailed your general manager (seanevans@lithia.com) on December 23, 2024, and that message has never been answered. No follow-up, no call, no response--just silence. Your message claims you're working diligently, but after four months of waiting and no action, I see no results and no real urgency. This is unacceptable. I demand that this matter be resolved immediately. If it continues any further, I will file a formal complaint with the Bureau of Consumer Protection for violating my rights. At this point, I don't need more apologies--I need action. Just find the inspector. I will come in myself, demonstrate the issue, and do the test drive. Just make it happen. read more
