Requested a test drive, refused to allow one. Was allowed to look at the vehicle on the lot for 5 mins. Never said I wanted to buy. Immediately shuffled me into an office and started the sales process by asking for info for a credit report. Congratulations to Keyes Toyota for having so much business they can process people like cattle right to the contract but I want to test drive a car before I try to negotiate down the 15K over-sticker price. After several failed attempts with Nissan we chose Toyota and thank goodness we did. We will never go to Nissan again (ever). Proudly, we leased 2 new vehicles the weekend of 4/4/2015. Our sales man was Abdu M. and he worked with his manager Jimmy L. They were both amazing. We leased a new 2015 Toyota Camry SE and a 2015 Toyota Avalon XLE. One for our daughter and the Avalon was hubby's anniversary gift (16 years) to me. The Avalon is an incredible ride. It's really come a long way. We've been in a Suburban for the past 12+ years and were worried that the Avalon wouldn't have ample space. Well it's proved us wrong. The Camry is a perfect car for a new driver. Our daughter originally learned to drive in our Suburban but the Camry is a fantastic trade off. It is "new driver" friendly, not too big nor too small. There aren't a ton of buttons and the Bluetooth connection with the phone is a cinch. Thanks to the guys at Keyes Toyota for making it a great first time lease experience and surprising our daughter with her new gift (and for the flowers and balloons on her car). And for ours as well. A tale of two buying experiences at Keyes. One great. One...not. ROT LOT ALERT: BEWARE the Black 2016 SCION (blue in pic online) which has been on the lot for 2 months or more! BEWARE the 2015 NISSAN VERSA 5-speed manual transmission! THIS one either has a BAD BATTERY or such LOT ROT that it would not start when we attempted to test drive it. BEWARE! My first purchase experience about 3 years ago at Keyes Toyota was actually so good that it maybe set the bar unfairly high for them this time around. I also think that some desperation from the Covid Pandemic combined with some strange cockiness from the whole chip situation resulting from Bitcoin etc has just turned the normally always-toxic car buying experience into a complete waste of time. When I purchased my 2016 Hyundai Accent from them, it definitely was not the car that I was originally coming in for. However, the salesperson took the time to hear me out on all my needs, showed me several cars and explained his opinion on why he thought that car might work for me. In short-- he SOLD me the car and the dealership. After driving the car and discussing my exact situation financially-- what I had to put down and what I needed to do for monthly payment-- it took us only a time or two back and forth to reach a deal that allowed Keyes to make a few dollars (they assured me they would still make a profit-- my goal was not to rob them, just to avoid getting slammed and leaving completely upside down in the car), SUCCESS! We made a deal that hit my needs and allowed them to make money. Can't really ask for more. Maybe the best car-buying experience I have ever had. Unfortunately, that car was totaled in an accident just over a month ago. So, I came back to Keyes Toyota, expecting-- at least HOPING-- for something close to that same treatment. On the first visit, I dealt with 2 salesmen-- the first was a guy who was just coming back to the dealership after being away for several years. He heard me out on my situation (totaled car, settlement/down payment, desired payment) but seemed pretty lost in getting a deal put together, so he turned me over to a man named "Amor" who had me go through every detail again, so that he could see what he could do. He SEEMED more knowledgeable but ended up every bit as useless as the first guy. AFTER HAVING ME SIT IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR HOURS AND ASSURING ME WE WERE PUTTING A DEAL TOGETHER, Amor walked in and told me that we wouldn't be able to do anything tonight but that he would follow up the next day. He NEVER followed up. I had let him, the other salespeople and others know that not only did I already know that due to the pandemic, my income was only just now stabilizing and that my credit was crappy. I also let them know that I had grown up on and around the car business for ALL OF MY 52 years and understood the biz inside and out, letting them know IT WOULD NOT HURT MY FEELINGS to be told we couldn't get a deal done due to these issues. I even reminded Amor on 2 voicemails that it was OK to give me bad news but that I would like to know whether or not to move on (adding in the 2nd message that I would assume there was no way to get a deal done if I did not hear back, and I never did so...) Keyes has some pretty sophisticated systems in place for follow up, so I received an auto-generated "Hey, we want to help you" email from the General Manager, James Sarvey. I explained all of the above to him in a reply and a few days later was greeted by an earnest young lady from their BDC (Business Development Center) as a result. She assured me that Keyes did give a shit and that someone would get right back with me to prove it... It never happened. Now a month and a half had passed since my accident and I really have been needing a car to continue working (did I mention that my wreck happened while I was on the way TO work? ugh.) and settlement-which-took-too-long with my insurance company finally came through == about 2 weeks after I had to return my rental-- so I have been looking at cars I could buy with cash and decided before doing that to follow up one more time with Keyes just to make sure... Now, with the settlement in my pocket and Keyes Toyota knowing I was dropping off a rental with "no way home", I was finally invited back in and assured by Internet Sales Manager Sergio that we would be able to get a deal done. The one thing I will say for Sergio is that he took me very seriously about not wasting my time. We landed on a car, test drove it and he checked to see that their finance department could get the deal done. Everything went through no problem... EXCEPT... the refusal to deal on the price. Both acknowledged "LOT ROT" factor of the Nissan Versa since it refused to start when we made our first attempt for a test drive-- BOTH of us agreeing that either the battery or electrical system was bad in the car OR just SITTING too long. Dealer pride was too strong to back off $500 and insure battery. Sad. read more

I understand the market now with the "vehicle shortage" is tough but my experience here is absolutely garbage and agents are disrespectful and arrogant. Went in last week to look at the Tacoma - MSRP was $37k plus a $7,500.00 price gouge on it. While negotiating, the manager keeps on twirling his stupid curly hair and won't even look at us in the eyes. Saying "This is the global issue and all dealerships are adjusting their market price. I have 40 employees here and I still need to pay them". First of all Sir, your 40 employees are not my problem. The only thing I am concerned about is my budget and the amount I am paying each month for a fair priced car. I am not desperate enough to put a downpayment of $7k and still pay $700+ monthly for a Tacoma. I can go to Longo, put a $500 down and get a car MSRP. I don't need to hear you say "Well, they don't have the car, We could sell the vehicle for more but I AM GIVING YOU THE BEST DEAL AND WE'RE HELPING YOU" LOL Well, thanks for your help but lying and tricking me with the numbers ain't going to work. They tell you things like there's no special on the interest rate or they try to trick you by lowering the marked up price to a $1,000 but adding it somewhere else on the total. It's just shady and dishonest. You would think that with the inflation and how everything is so expensive now, you would get all the help you need and believe that they have the best interest of their clients, but NOPE, NOT THIS DEALERSHIP! Unbelievable the audacity of the sales people at this dealership. We came asking for a specific brand and style. We drove it that night, got some info of the price, and lease interest and specials. The next day we came to purchase the car. Rene Pascual comes with the paper for the lease option. It wasn't 1.9 anymore ... it was 3.9.. so we said .. ok forget that.... we are going to purchase the car cash... he comes back with another paper showing that now the price of the car is 3,000 more than the sticker price ... odd right?? ... when I asked what happened with the price, he said the actual price is 3,000 more because supply and demand .... LOL ... I told him: what demand??? .. nobody is buying cars now ... anyhow .... because we were getting the car CASH, they decided to raise the price without telling us the night before, or when he did the lease option with the ticket price ... what happened with the actual pice+3000 when he came with the lease paperwork???? Where is the transparency ?? .... where is the decency??? I'm an accountant and know numbers... they thought that they can take advantage of us.. haha Such a greedy and shady people. We confirmed its availability, price and everything was good to go with a sales associate, prior to arriving at the dealership. Next day, we get to the dealership and test-drive the car. Everything's good to go and it's time to crunch numbers, run credit and all that good stuff. After 30+ minutes of back and forth, that was comprised mostly of declining the typical suggested warranties that 99% of dealerships try to sneak into your paperwork, the "manager" comes out and begins another 15+ minutes of the same back and forth. We shut him down and request to only pay only for the vehicle and taxes/fees. No "delivery fees" or any of that B.S. He says no problem. Credit is run and everything's great right? As my girlfriend is filling out paperwork that the sales associate provides, the "manager" arrives and tells us the car "just got sold 2 minutes ago but we have others..." L... M....A....O. And you know how the rest ends. A few cuss words, laughs and a swift exit. We went to Kia Car Pros in Glendale the next day and she got a 2017 Toyota Corolla for less money. I've been taking my car to get serviced here since I bought it and every time I go I have a different experience. The first time I got my car serviced they had me in and out within 40min and was shocked. The second time I went in they left my windshield a muddy mess, they left the same oil filter and didn't rotate my tires a service I had paid for but didn't notice until I had left the dealership. This last time I took the car was the absolute worst. I showed up about 10min before my appointment which was at 1:10 and I had ordered an Uber to pick me up. I asked a gentleman if I could get checked in because my Uber was on its way and this was about 15min after I was just sitting there and he replied with " we didn't tell you to show up early for your appointment " so my Uber canceled on me. Whatever shit happens but what annoyed me the most was when I pick up my car and pull into my driveway I start seeing smoke, There was oil residue everywhere. And once again they didn't rotate my tires. The only reason I started bringing my car here is because my office is down the street. I honestly don't think I'll be taking my car back. Their lack of communication is terrible and in like short time I was there picking up my car there were at least 5 people complaining about their service experience. read more

Do not trust any of the Keyes car dealership! The salesperson that was helping us lease a new 2018 Toyota Camry was nice, but lied to me when I asked a very specific question. "Is the alarm included or will there be a fee for it?". The salesperson first starts rambling about the remote. I then restated my question to make sure he understood that I was asking about the car alarm. He then said it was included. i asked again..."so there will be no fee for the car alarm?" He said "no fee...it's included". When we get to the finance dept at the Keyes Toyota dealer, the finance guy pushes us to purchase an alarm for $499. I explain what transpired earlier with the salesperson. The finance guy calls the salesperson to his office, I asked the salesperson about our conversation, the salesperson lies and says "oh I thought you were talking about the remote" and just played dumb. Being stuck in the middle of trying to lease a car, we didn't really have much choice but to pay the $499 since the salesperson wasn't going to say anything truthful. Who ever heard of a $27,000 car not including an alarm system? If you are negotiating a deal on a car from any of the Keyes car dealerships, make sure the alarm is included in your deal and have it in writing or they will pull this nonsense at the last minute while you are sitting in the finance dept. Seriously...it's a click of a few buttons on their computer to activate the alarm that is already installed in the car. $499 to activate an alarm that is already installed? What a big scam! Just so you know, we had the same thing happen to us at Keyes Hyundai 3 years earlier when we negotiated the previous lease. That's why I had asked this very specific question of this salesperson. I had a feeling they would try and pull this nonsense again, which is what they did. Once they have you in their finance dept, you will all zoned in to finalizing the lease or purchase, they know you will be an easy target by then. We will never buy or lease another car from KEYES ever again! This is a very disgusting thing to do to a customer...in our case a repeat customer for many years. read more

Ugh!! Took in my brand new Rav4 because roof rail rubbers came off. Keys fixed it with 2 face tape! Which of course didn't hold. Back to the dealer I go. On my 3rd visit they replaced the rubbers. Okay Toyota service dealership; definitely more approachable than the north Hollywood Toyota. My Prius needed a bunch of maintenance like synthetic oil change; tires rotated, break fluid , etc. recommended many other maintenance services; some felt excessive and unnecessary, but the service manager highlighted the primary repairs that I should place above others and wasn't hellbent on making me pay for everything. Still a bit too pricy for my tastes at almost five hundred boxes of ziti. Zoning a customers lounge with complimentary coffee and snacks is just another amenity that makes the wait less insufferable. Customers should be acquainted with basic math . If they're not, they're going to get taken advantage of as dealers /service providers will finagle numbers just so they can mislead customers into thinking they made off with a good deal, but it either is a net-neutral or costs more. read more

It is interesting that I went to test drive cars at Keyes Toyota and Keyes Lexus. At Keyes Toyota, I was greeted politely & immediately as I walked up. The manager, Evan Hoffman, made sure I saw someone as quickly as possible. I was offered water and the sales person Brian Uhlrich was knowledgeable about all of the products, did not try to over or under sell me and when I left the manager checked in to make sure I got all the information I needed. A GREAT EXPERIENCE. Keyes Lexus was a different story. I've been a loyal customer who has purchased and least seven cars from them over the years. Yet when I went to try the new models, the salesperson was unfamiliar with the inventory, rushed, and not well informed about the models I was looking at. It seemed that since I wasn't ready to buy RIGHT THEN without spouse in tow, he wanted to move on as quickly as possible. He barely passed off his business card before leaving me in the dust. I dont even like the new Lexus design, but I always liked the reliability and service in the past, so I gave it a shot. End result? I felt that I had to write a review because I think I was cheated by this dealer. I live in Northern California but our daughter lives and was a college student in LA and she had our Toyota Highlander for a couple of years there and she lost the only key fob she had. Meanwhile, we decided to sell the car so I put all of the specifications in Kelley Blue Book and this dealership provided an offer. So I called the both the service and sales departments (2 days in advance on the sales dept and one day before the service dept) to arrange to get a key made and to finalize selling the car. On last Friday, I cleaned out the car and had the car towed 10 miles to the dealership in the early afternoon, and made it clear all the while that I needed to have the car looked at by sales that day as I live in Northern California. On the phone, the original estimate for making one new key fob was approximately $400 to $500 but when I got there, the service guy informed me that it would be $968 (and what could I do, I was stuck there with the car and no key), so I paid it. Then, I went over to the sales dept, and after a while the rep (who had originally emailed me the "offer" a few days prior) said sorry, but due to the age of the car, they could not look at it until Monday. (they knew the age and all of the specifics of the car a week prior). I could have had a key made a closer dealer (there was a Toyota dealer 3 miles from my daughter) but I chose this one because they were going to buy the car. The service guy was friendly (Giovani) and so was Sophia, but again, I think I was cheated. He knew (because I had told him) that we had made a key previously and his excuse for the extra cost was that they had to re-program the fob. I think he knew I was stuck there and he took advantage of me, and the situation. I do not trust this place and all should be cautious. read more

Buyer Beware I saw an advertised price for new vehicle and called to verify and ask if they would negotiate further. I was told, yes. I drove over an hour to the dealership and car was waiting. Drove it and negotiations started. I offered $1500 less than what they said on the internet price as a starting point. They came back with the internet price is only a manufacturer suggested price, this package is more than $5000 more than what is stated on the internet. I was shocked. They get you there and put $5000 more than what they advertised. Then the manager said that at least he told me now before they did in financing. These are bait and switch tactics. This is a very unscrupulous dealership. I am going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I have never had negotiations increase from an advertised price. False advertising! read more
