    Eggs Benedict with hasbrowns
    Nancy E.

We went here for lunch today. Everything was good, service and food. You can ordered breakfast anytime as well as a full menu of many choices. They do charge for using a card vs cash. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my husband got the hot beef sandwich.

Here is another angle of it to show how huge it is.

Keys Cafe in Forest Lake is always worth the drive. Their concept of home-style cooking and made-from-scratch items are a hit with both locals and weary travelers, given its convenient location just off the interstate. They do not take reservations, so it's first-come, first-serve. On weekends, it can be very busy, and you might have to wait, but trust me, it's worth it. While you wait, you can always scope out their bakery and decide what you want to have for dessert--chances are you'll end up taking it home because you'll be too full after your meal. Their breakfast items are fantastic. One of my favorites is the everything omelette, loaded with vegetables, meats, and cheese. A side of their homemade bread with homemade preserves is also something you will not want to skip. For lunch, their commercial sandwiches are outstanding. You can choose from oven-roasted turkey sandwich with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberries, to roast beef, and even meatloaf. The portions are huge, so unless you are a hearty eater, plan to bring some home for dinner too. They offer hand-cut fries, delicious burgers, and everything in between. It's a great place to go, ensuring that everyone in your party will find something they'll truly love. The waitstaff here are wonderful--so professional but also make you feel like part of the family when you visit. Even the clientele who frequent this establishment are pleasant. It's a family restaurant, and it's heartwarming to see families coming in with their kids and enjoying a meal together. I highly recommend this place, especially if you enjoy home-style cooking like maybe your mom made.

    Loon Omelet

Three of us stopped in for an early lunch. I started with a cup of turkey wild rice soup. It was great. I also enjoyed the Mom's meatloaf. It was really tasty and plenty of it. We also had a loon omelette that was very good. My wife had a "half and half " combo that consisted of a half Reuben sandwich with vegetable beef soup. That was also very good. Our server was friendly and helpful.

Service was friendly but the kitchen getting food out took awhile. The Farmers Omelette was loaded with ham, shy on hashbrowns and cheese was completely forgotten. I didn't realize because the portion I ate, I had ordered a side of sausage gravy which was a little thick and lacked salt. The homemade sour dough bread was good. I took home most of the omelette and when I reheated was when I realized there was NO cheese. We also had the Cajun breakfast which was fine. Ordered two slices of pie to go. Coconut and blueberry, which were tasty but the edge of the crust was so thick, you couldn't cut it with a fork so was basically inedible. Disappointing meal to say the least.

Local, family owned (Hunn Family since 1973!) restaurant & part of the many Keys Cafes throughout the Twin Cities. This location is in the end of a strip mall, so there's plenty of parking. This Forest Lake locale also offers beer & wines to accompany your meals. You can't go wrong with one of their Eggs Benedict choices. but today I was in a warm soup & Reuben grilled sandwich. It was a very good choice-perfectly grilled Reuben with tasty corned beef! Great service from the hardworking, friendly server.

Loon omelette with a side of hashbrowns for $4.25

Loon omelette was not good. So much rice, dry and no flavor. Mushroom gravy atop was meh. It was also expensive at $22 with adding hashbrowns and they charged $1.50 for a little little extra gravy. Biscuits and gravy was probably the best dish. Biscuits were tender and gravy was good. Eggs benedict was fine. Nothing special. Hashbrowns overall were very greasy, tasted of margarine. Food came out fast as well, almost too fast. Couldn't have even been 5-6 minutes, it was that quick. Service was good.

    House cake is amazing!! $5.50
    Sherry W.

This is based on the house cake---chocolate cake with a vanilla frosting. It is AMAZING! Usually cakes at restaurants have a chemical taste to them since they are massed produced. Not this cake! This cake tasted HOMEMADE. The cake was moist and the frosting had a hint of almond flavoring. So very good for only $5.50/slice. Friendly staff too. I ordered at the counter to-go and was quickly on my way.

The atmosphere is very nice and gives off family owned vibes. The service is amazing our server came to check on us so many times they were so nice. The food was also amazing I recommend the build it omelet and the salmon eggs Benedict.

Keys always good food but getting in on a Sunday if pressed for time? Forget it. Lines and 15 minute wait can go to 30 minutes in a blink.

Tough to beat this place for breakfast. I visit this location because the others don't offer the Philly Benedict.

The service was fantastic. However my wife and I got food poisoning from the wild rice soup. This is the first time that we had bad food.

I do wish that the main tables weren't spaced so close to each other, but it's not a very large restaurant. The only thing that I would say could be better, is the noise level. This could be based on the overall size of the restaurant and how many tables there are, I'm not positive. The last few times I've been there, it's been so loud, it's like being in a biker bar on karaoke night rather than a nicer restaurant. But overall, I think you'd be happy choosing Mallards in FL for lunch, dinner, drinks, or apps. It's a solid choice.

On Saturday, my family and I thought we would try the fish, hoping to get some fresh walleye…read more Unfortunately they only had frozen walleye fingers. So we ordered 2 haddock fish and chips, 1 fish sandwich and 1 chicken sandwich. I noticed the "cooks wanted sign" on the side of the building and normally I would go somewhere else. We thought we would go ahead and try it. Granted it was busy but it was close to an hour before some of the food came out. Waiter was very nice but only ordered one of the two fish and chips. He apologized and told me he ordered mine. He didn't offer me any options. Our family was done eating before I got mine. I thought he would deduct the cost but to no avail. Overall the haddock I got was hot but greasy. Ambiance was like a sports bar. We should have ordered a burger or wings. Won't return.
