This review is a bit overdue, but I wanted to say thank you for the great service that you gave when we were here for a visit the week before Christmas. The food as always was delicious, but I wanted to comment on the excellent service we received that day. We brought my father-in-law as our guest for this meal and he has extreme narcissistic personality disorder, so can be very rude and challenging and the waitress (sorry I do not recall her name) was extremely understanding in this situation. Y UM Y U M Y U M M Y PASTRIES This is a busy, happening, newer restaurant located in a strip mall. They seem to be very good at burn and turn. The menu is ginormous, but it was easy to decide which breakfast to have. It wasn't super busy there even though it was an early Saturday morning, and we got our food really fast. However, I can't figure out why my scrambled eggs were so cold when we got the food so fast? Since it was a business meeting, I just smiled and ate them cold and didn't complain. Otherwise I would have returned them. :-) The Christmas decorations were still up and they were absolutely adorable. Someone had taken a lot of time to pick out really nice items and strategically place them. A real homey touch. Really really cute! On the way out, I spy a pecan pie in the bakery window. I never did get a pecan pie for Christmas, so I thought, here's my chance. I don't make pecan pies, I always try to find a great bakery that has a great pecan pie. I will never be able to make one as good as my Auntie Natalie did with pecans right off her neighbor's tree in Phoenix Arizona. Just for the record, I do make Pecan Danties and I won the purple ribbon at our County Fair in Utah for them, 2 years in a row :-). Boy were the other ladies mad! Bummed out, this place gets such good reviews but out experience was hardly similar. I'll say our server was good. The food, was a big no. I had the taco salad, the hamburger was all stuck together in one huge piece plopped on a bed of random lettuces. I kept pulling tuff stems on vegetables out of my mouth ( sorry tmi) that were not meant to be eaten. And just a couple chips hidden at the bottom. Husband had a dry and rather odd vegetable dish. Keys never lets us down. Tonight was dinner night with my boys. Keys has something for all of us. The staff is always friendly. The servers are quick to help you. They check back the right amount of times and make sure the drinks are never empty. Tonight I had the chefs salad. I have them hold the purple onions because they overpower the flavor. My youngest got the fried walleye. Wow! That was a huge fillet. The middle child got the fried chicken sandwich. Plain?! I don't understand it but that's the way he likes it. I can't say enough good things about this place. Also on your way out grab a fresh made bakery item. Anyone one of the items are delicious. We came for a late breakfast/early lunch on a Friday. I was pretty unimpressed with the hostess when she took off like a shot and sat us in the far rear of the restaurant. We had a senior citizen with us who used a cane. She passed by several tables along the way so it wasn't a matter of the restaurant being full, either. Slow down and take your patrons into consideration. Fortunately, that was the only "bump" in the road. Our server was really efficient and funny. She took great care of us and made some helpful recommendations. My husband was thrilled that she left a carafe of coffee on the table. I opted for lunch and tried the chicken sandwich with waffle fries, my husband got a garden omelet and my mom got an omelet, too. Both omelets came with freshly baked bread that looked amazing. (They wouldn't share!) The food was fantastic. The wait wasn't that long and the portions were very filling. We stopped by the bakery counter before leaving and got some pecan caramel rolls. Keys is our favorite place to go when we want 'homemade' food. They have a wide (and good!) selection. It is our 'go to' for breakfast. They also have a great selection of desserts which is hard to pass up! The service has always been very good for us as well. Keys is a great place if you miss Mom and Grandmas cooking! read more

We have enjoyed several good meals at Keys cafe and have visited the other locations in White Bear Lake and Fridley. It is a good consistent place to eat with a homestyle meat an potatoes and grilled sandwiches type menu. The bakery and coffee shop is very good and we love the house chocolate cake and have ordered several over the years. The service has also been very good. read more

Been here numerous times with the family. It seems lately they kind of taken for granted their customers. The service is okay but not excellent. Slow at times (been forgotten about a few times). The prices are a bit spendy for what you get. I will say that the turkey dinner and roast beef dinner is my favorite and is a good deal. But as far as a sandwich and soup it is spendy. Plus there is the "add on" prices. Add soup $$, sub fries for chips $$, etc etc. That all adds up. We were really big fans of this place when it first opened and now find ourselves coming less and less. When we do come here we most often go away disappointed. Probably the best Keys I have been to. It was pretty packed for a Sunday, but we expected it to be. The wait however, was just under 10 minutes. Thee turn around was pretty quick. Service was good. Excellent breakfast options: Dad and I both ordered the # 1. Two eggs, toast, home fries or hashbrowns meat optional. I opted in for the bacon which made my day. 4 thick cut hearty pieces of bacon. Very reasonable , tasted great and hit the spot. Mom ordered scrambled eggs with French toast. She said this batch of French toast was the best she had yet ( on her many visits) Place is pretty good size. Friendly staff Good food. read more

Our friends took us here on a Sunday as it's one of their favorites. I can see why for a few reasons; 1. The service was great including quick, efficient, happy and friendly staff. 2. The food was pretty good especially the french Toast and homemade jam! 3. The prices were reasonable and worth it. We will come back again for both the atmosphere/service and the food. Wow I've never seen this before. I walked in, and there was no hostess at the front desk. There were at least 4 people at the pie and coffee counter, none of whom acknowledged my presence. Then I caught the eye of two servers, of whom both ignored me as well. I even asked one of the ladies at the counter to page a hostess, of whom she promptly went on to what she was doing and ignored my request. I really was excited for this Keys to open, I watched the months of building in anticipation, but its not what I had expected. I wanted a place that was quiet, a neighborhood place to go with friend for lunch. This Keys is much too loud for such a place, the layout is poor and you can hear all the ruckus going on around you. The space has too much of a warehouse feel to be a neighborhood diner. It doesn't help that the place is packed for all hours of the day, I am hoping that once the newness dies down it won't be so crowded and loud. The food however is excellent, its just like the other Keys in that aspect. The bakery items are fresh and the coffee is good but not too strong. They also have a drive-thru which has been a convenience many times with a sleeping baby in the car, however the drive-thru only sells bakery items and beverages. Overall I like Keys as an establishment but I am not a fan of this new building's space. read more

If you want to know where everyone in Forest Lake is on a Saturday morning, check out Keys. The place was PACKED. I was very impressed with their service at the front. Although there was a line, it moved quickly and no one was ever told they needed to wait. These guys must he the masters of flipping tables. The only tough part is people congregate immediately at the entry door since the hostess is there. There is plenty of space to move into the actual waiting area, but people don't - they create the line so it goes outside. Maybe just design over sight. The food was excellent. They had a special that day for apple bacon egg quesadillas with a side of hashbrowns. The portions were huge which is what I expect with Keys. It makes breakfast more expensive than other places, but you are really getting leftovers for lunch too. We have a child along with us who was thrilled with his Mickey Mouse pancakes and was even more excited that the head of Mickey pancake was bigger than his head. They have a tremendous looking bakery!! Despite the whole town being there, our serve was great. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. I would recommend Keys any day! read more
