The sourness usually found in tom yum soup was very subtle in the omelette, and there were generous amounts of lump crab in every bite. It's served on a bed of rice that is flavored by the tom yum sauce. The short rib egg benedict is fall-off-the-bone tender and accompanied by the jammy poached eggs. The Thai tea pancakes are stacked and fluffy. The signature sweet flavor of Thai tea is beautifully executed in both the pancakes and syrup, and complemented by fresh fruits and cream. Had the pleasure of visiting Khao Hom and it was truly an experience. We arrived a little after noon and was seated within 10-15 mins or so but it was a full house. Every table was filled and If you plan to come on the weekends, be prepared to wait. The servers were all so sweet and always checked up on us. There seems to be a bunch of good options in the area but my friends had been wanting to try Khao Hom. Thai fusion brunch seems to be a growing trend so it seemed like an exciting option. We started off with the samosas, roti, and bacon wrapped scallops to share - both were pretty good with the fluffy roti being my favorite, but it was yellow curry sauce that was the star. My friends shared the tom yum crab omelette and I tried the fried chicken benedict. The omelette had basically no tom yum flavor. In fact, it was probably closer to a tom kha than tom yum, and even then it was incredibly bland. Despite being impressively huge, my benedict was no better in the seasoning department. There wasn't a single crystal of salt on anything and I had to dump pretty much any sauce or seasoning I could find to make it edible. Honestly, a very disappointing experience overall. Went for lunch on a weekday with two friends and one child. It was our first time there, and the restaurant was nearly empty--only two other parties when we arrived, and one left within 10 minutes. Service was fast, and the food was good. When we asked for the check, the server brought over the card reader. The total seemed high for three entrees and one appetizer, so I asked why. The server simply said the tip had already been added. The card reader didn't show the gratuity percentage or give any option to remove or adjust it--only to add an additional tip. After I signed, I asked for the receipt and discovered they had added a 20% "large party" gratuity for three adults and one child. If a restaurant wants to charge automatic gratuity, that's their choice. But hiding it until after payment and using a card reader that only encourages an additional tip feels deceptive. Taste-wise though, I found it to be pretty oily (and also found it even oilier the next day though fried food doesn't really stay good as leftovers anyway). The pad kee mao was on the spicier side (in a good way!). We came at the tail end of the dinner service and the staff were all super super nice to us even though we came pretty late.
