We ordered the chicken satay, they were tender and had a great flavor. My friend ordered the tom Kai soup, she said it was tasty but its very lemongrass flavor. So be prepared. I got the Khao speciality soup woth coconut milk and fresh crab meat. It was heavenly, ita legit the best ive ever had . This is a similar dish served at luv to eat thai and thats like a 40 dollar curry. This was yummy, favorable and just divine. This restaurant is such a vibe!!!! Ordered delivery because my partner and I were craving a solid Thai meal and went with the spicy basil and chicken, as well as the pork jerky. Both were exceptional. So good that it actually made us want to go check out the restaurant in person, which we did. Dining in was just as great. The service was awesome, warm, and genuinely welcoming. The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Fast forward to another night when we ordered delivery again. I tried the Thai fried chicken for the first time and wow. Perfectly crispy, insanely juicy, and packed with flavor. I honestly can't even put my finger on what makes it so good, but I'm dead serious when I say it is the best fried chicken I've ever had, anywhere, ever. I'm shocked I haven't left a review for this place because I go there alllll the time and I always get the same thing and it's consistently good and I can't wait to go back lol I'm also surprised I don't have any pictures to post *sigh* As the name suggests, their specialty is the Khao Soi dish, which is what I get every time (with fried tofu). Now I'm no Thai cuisine expert or anything so I don't know if their khao soi tastes exactly how it's supposed to taste like but for me personally, it is heaven lol They also used to have a yelp check-in and you'd get a free Thai tea (which is delicious btw) but I think that's gone now. Service is great too, this place never gets too busy or too loud, it's truly perfect. As for parking, they have a dedicated lot. It's tiny but I never had any issues finding a spot. Ive been a huge fan of this place for about a decade but the last two visits have been subpar if not worse. Both occasions my family of 3 walked in just before 8pm. The close at 9pm. The first time we greeted with a curt 'we close at 9". Not hello not welcome a rude we close in an hour. Mind you the place was half full and people were coming in after us. We were hungry and know the food is good so we brushed it off. At about 8:40 the head guy came to our table asking if we could close out our bill. Then they started cleaning up the place. We spend over $100 with no respect for us. Then a couple nights ago I was craving their green papaya salad. My husband who is a chef was reluctant bc of our last experience but we decided to give it another chance. We were the only folks eating in and came in before 8pm. Service was ok and food great until... once again they started cleaning while we are eating. Sweeping and then brought out the dirty wash bucket and mop out with an obscene amount of fabulouso or whatever they use. It was absolutely awful to try and finish our $100plus meal while inhaling all that crud and chemicals. Absolutely no respect for the dining experience or its customers. Who does that??? It was disgusting and rude. It wasnt even 9pm it was about 8:30when they started doing that. I cannot recommend a place that doesnt respect health codes, customers experience ir even the fact we are dropping serious money by choice and to do that says more about themselves and their values. Parking: there is a handful of parking at the level, and also they have a underground parking if needed The restaurant itself has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The food comes out quick as well and service is great. It's also not too loud and a comfy warm environment. My friend and I ordered Thai tea and the Khao Soi with chicken. It was delicious!! Another excellent meal at Khao Soi Thai. This place is really fantastic, and while there are so many Thai restaurants in town which I haven't tried, I always seem to go back to Khao Soi. I've been here several times now and I can't stop ordering the Khao Soi Curry Noodle Soup with Chicken, It's so delicious. We also had the Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp. I could drink that broth all day and every day. This is our go to place for great Pad Thai! It's tart, the noodles are al dente, and the sauce feels more homemade than other Thai restaurants. Their crispy pork is really good too. They close pretty early, 9pm I believe. Ive tried to call at 8pm to place in a pick up order, but no one ever answered! I got to the restaurant at 8:45 hoping to place in a to go order, and the woman working the front counter seemed annoyed, but a man came in and said that would be okay. He was very nice! Looking for Khao Soi? Well you came on the right place (the name gives it away). After our trip to Chiang Mai we were looking for that comforting curry soup closer to home. A classic northern Thai dish, it's a sweet, curry noodle soup that is definitely worth trying. I loved the broth, it was rich and flavorful. There are both the fried noodles on top and cooked noodles inside which gives it incredible texture. The toppings are spot on- I wish there was more of it. The pickled mustard greens and raw onions are a nice contrast and cuts the richness of the curry soup very well. Chicken is what is usually served with in Thailand, the chicken here is pieces of chicken breast (like what you would use for any other stir fried Thai dish). Thigh or drumsticks would be my preference but I'm being picky. Service was quick, waters were refilled, no complaints. No frills sort of place. I've been looking at this restaurant from the Von's and Bev Mo parking lot for a while. Last night I finally decided to try it. It's in the same complex as Chin Chin, so I knew to drive carefully down Ventura to make sure I didn't miss the driveway! The place is really clean and the staff is very friendly! I can tell they do a lot of takeout/delivery as there were only three tables occupied during my meal. After finding many things on the menu I wanted to try, I opted for the Khao Soi. I mean, it's their namesake and the menu does pimp it pretty hard. It was so delicious and comforting and filling! The pic is of my finished soup. Of course, we expect some oil in the cooking process, but it was really bad, for all the dishes. So much so that after a few bites of each, we couldn't finish any of it. The service was nice and the dining area looked clean when we picked up our order. The pad thai was so oily it overpowered any flavor. Not much to it, just noodles, chicken, some bean sprouts and nuts. The karee roti was the best dish of the three, but again, the oil just overpowered any of the rich flavor. The fried chicken, bland. Khao Soi has been one of my wife and I's favorite dishes over the past few years. So finding one of Yelp that called Khao Soi Thai made sense. The parking is pretty limited but they have an underground lot. The restaurant has that home vibe which is nice. We ordered the Seafood Khao Soi and the Pineapple duck curry. Wow! Doesn't look like much from the outside but had a great experience here. They have a little outdoor seating area with string lights perfect to sit out on a warm night for dinner. Service was prompt and kind. We had to get the fried chicken since it was the top thing on their Yelp page and it didn't disappoint. You get five huge pieces of chicken that's lightly crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Also got the Khao soi because obviously. I've never had it before but wow it was so good! We got it with pork and it was so flavorful and comforting. We also had the papaya salad and pineapple fried rice which were both decent but didn't stand out as much as the first two. Khao Soi is a northern Thai dish that isn't quite as easy to find in LA as I had hoped. The dish consists of egg noodles, your choice of protein, and a soup base that melds together coconut cream and curry spices, giving it a taste similar to that of Thai yellow curry. Khao Soi is one of my favorite Thai dishes, but most Thai restaurants don't actually serve it since it seems to be a specialty dish developed from a mixture of influences in one particular region. Luckily my friend found this restaurant and we stopped by for dinner on a rainy evening. The timing was fortuitous, as the dish was just what we needed to survive the cold weather. The broth was packed with flavor, the egg noodles were cooked perfectly, and the spice levels were on point and had my nose running towards the end of the meal (not enough to deter me from finishing every last bite though!) During our recent stay in Los Angeles, the weather has steadily remained cool, mostly cloudy because of "May Gray," with daytime temperatures not exceeding 70° F. Being from Honolulu, HI, where we're more used to warm sunny weather we felt chilled staying in LA, we craved hot noodle soups or spicy foods. Our taste buds and appetites welcomed the sight of Khao Soi Thai restaurant that we saw from a distance while stopping near Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard. We saw Khao Soi Thai's signage several years ago, and when I looked up their Yelp rating (average 4.5), I quickly suggested to my family to try this restaurant. There was no hesitation from my brother-in-law, who promptly turned onto Ventura Boulevard and into the Times Square strip mall. The Times Square Mall has multiple businesses that share lots of parking stalls facing the companies and an additional parking lot at the opposite end of the mall's entrance. Walking into this clean, quaint, and family-run restaurant, we noticed the chalkboard menus with English and Thai script. The male worker was friendly and welcoming and gave us a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose indoor seating, listened to the male server recite the day's menu specials, took our time leafing through the colorful menu pages, and ordered our beverages. Thanks to Yelp and Khao Soi Thai, I redeemed my check-in offer for a FREE Beverage (Iced Thai Tea). Meanwhile, several more groups streamed in and began filling the restaurant. So, we called the server to order before they did. The service was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Within a few minutes after the server brought our beverages, he delivered our appetizers and attended to the other groups of diners. As American-born Asians, the first question that we ask the server at a Thai restaurant is about the chili spice level. We'll ask if the spice level is based on Thai or American tastes, as we'd rather err on the medium American chili pepper tolerance but we were told they serve Thai spice level so we asked for mild. FOOD: -Papaya Salad with Shrimp (som tam): The huge portion of this refreshing, fresh, and colorful salad embodies the flavors of Northeastern Thailand. Its crunchy raw green papaya shreds, chopped peanuts, cut long beans, carrots, bean sprouts, and bruised tomatoes were spiked by its sour-salty-sweet mortar-pounded dressing of lime juice, palm sugar, garlic, fish sauce, and tamarind juice (?). $12.95 -Thai Issan Sausage (saikrok Isaan or sai oui): Grilled savory and slightly sour-sweet Thai pork & rice sausages are trendy street foods. Eating these sausages wrapped in a small white cabbage leaf, a thin slice of ginger root, and chili pepper would send your tastebuds to Bangkok. We would've enjoyed eating these sausages accompanied with a beer, but we're not complaining as we slurped on our iced Thai coffee and tea.$11.95 -Khao Soi with Pork: Since the restaurant's namesake is this dish, we had high expectations for its flavors since we've eaten this northern Thailand's signature curry noodle soup in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. This restaurant delivered on our expectations. Soft, flat egg noodles with pork (other options were chicken, beef, or seafood) were served in a tasty Chinese-Muslim-origin curry broth and topped with a ball of crispy fried noodles. There appeared to be a hint of coconut milk in the curry broth to balance the savoriness. $14.95 + $1.00 (pork) -Drunken Noodles with Chicken (pad kee mao): Khao Soi executed this wok stir-fried noodle dish very well. We noted that the thin, delicate flat rice noodles had a nice chew, and the whole strands separated instead of clumping together, which indicated perfect control of "wok hei." Also, we anticipated the spicy and savory flavors of this dish. $13.95 + $1.00 During our first eating experience here, we met a couple of native Thai residents who were visiting Los Angeles. They agreed with the authentic flavors and genuine polite and friendly etiquette the server showed. However, unlike the inexpensive living and food costs in Thailand, the prices here were a sticker shock for the visiting Thai families who stopped in. I saw that this place was highly rated so I thought I'd give it a try. First, I got a chicken satay appetizer, which came with peanut sauce and a cucumber salad which was pretty good. I also got a Thai Ice Tea which was decent but small. For the main dish I got pork drunken noodles and green curry with beef. The drunken noodles were tasty. Good dish. The Green curry was runny. The flavor was good but the consistency was not. The restaurant itself looked very nice for the space they had and a cute little dining area in the front by the parking lot. It was a warm day and there was no AC inside so it was stuff and we decided to sit outside cuz there was a slight breeze. That turned out ok except for the occasional car fumes. Our server was fine, didn't engage much but kept an earbud in the whole time and since there was no one he was communicating with, I assumed he was listening to something on his phone which would have been ok but after he dropped off the food, even though they were not busy, we didn't see him again until the end of the meal. Finally dined in and I LOVE the food even more! Took some friends so I can try more but OMG BEST THAI FOOD! All portions were very good and all dishes had the perfect ratio of sauce to noodles and spice! The service is sooo kind! Very home style place with Cute ambiance so great for casual nights you want great Thai food! Thai food is so easy to come by in LA but this place def takes the cake! Their main specialty item Khao soi is OUTSTANDING! I've had my fair share of Khao soi in LA and beyond and this one is my top 3!!
