Buying a car is always a stressful thing...I spent about a month shopping around for cars, went to multiple dealerships, and spoke to a lot of people. For that entire month I was overwhelmed with what car to buy, where to to buy, and more importantly who to trust. Most of the dealerships I visited were home to your typical sleazy car salesman. You know, the ones that have the look of bullshit caked on top of their fake smiles and then more bullshit caked on top of that. KIC Motors is plain and simple and doesn't come with the bullshit facade that other dealerships have. The minute I walked onto the lot I felt like I was walking into my uncles garage. Everyone was really genuine and welcoming and weren't pushy at all. Michael and Chad were great and really hooked it up. I bought two vehicles from KIC and got a good deal for both. Most small car dealerships do not offer a warranty on used cars but KIC does. I had both vehicles shipped from Oahu to Maui without ever having a chance to see the vehicles in person. I was told that the cars were in great condition and they were Both were immaculate and rust/dent free. Customer service was excellent dealing with my many phone calls and texts. Daniel was my salesman and he was so kind and friendly giving me the best deal possible. I will only buy my vehicles from KIC motors! We were looking for a small 4x4 and so happy we KIC motors had it! Chris, Daniel and everyone else are so down to earth, NO PRESSURE. But Just make sure all paper work are ready and comes with the car, they updated tags because it was going to expire within a month from purchase. Now we have tags till November 2016...but no paper work!?!? tried getting it from them but apparently they sent it out but I didn't receive anything yet.... WTF?! Mail doesn't take weeks from town to kapolei. Update 4 months after..... Still love the car .... But I've notice and started hearing a knocking noise by the front tires, so I brought to my mechanic and he asked how long I had car, old him only 4 months, he was disgusted and said that KIC motors sold you a car with dead shocks!! This is so frustrating due to the fact KIC motors advised that they thoroughly check the vehicle BEFORE selling it because their reputation matters. Regarding your registration, we mailed it to you in a timely manner through the Post Office and you claim to have never received it. After redoing all the necessary paperwork, which is difficult because it is not in our name anymore, we sent it via FEDEX to make sure you got it because you didn't want to come to the store to pick it up. Also, when you purchased the vehicle, we agreed to pay for a brand new registration when yours expired at no extra cost. At no point did we lie or mislead you. In fact, we went out of our way to accommodate your needs. Once again, I'm sorry you weren't happy with your experience, but I think your assessment of our company is unfair Hey Jessica, Let me fill you in on what Chris and Daniel told us they were going to do to the car before we took it home. KIC Motors is a small locally owned dealership that specializes in used cars. I worked primarily with Daniel throughout the purchasing process. Daniel's customer service was stellar and this was perhaps the fastest, smoothest, and easiest car purchase I've ever gone through. Daniel was not only friendly but genuinely concerned about my satisfaction. He thoroughly explained everything. He's also easily accessible via phone and email. I had minimal interaction with Chris, but during the time I did, he too provided amazing service. I definitely recommend them. My car, on the other hand is not providing as high quality service as KIC Motors did ha ha, it sucks (of course it's 10 years old what else can I expect). I bought my car on the 31st of January. It turned out the safety check expired the very next day. Daniel actually caught that expiration which I'm thankful for since I'm bad about paying attention to those types of things. He called me the same day that I purchased the car to notify me. He was very apologetic and assured me they'd cover any fines I may get because of the expiration. Took the car back to KIC Motors Monday morning, they were very kind and provided me with a loaner which I don't think is a normal service they provide. But on Monday they weren't able to get to the safety check. Tuesday they weren't able to either. On Wednesday they tried and it didn't pass. The tint was too dark and hazard lights didn't work. Remember now, the car's 10 years old and it's a used car so KIC Motors would've not known the tint was not legal. But KIC Motors were generous in that they covered the repairs for both of them. The tint was one of the things that attracted me to that particular car and was a little sad to get it back tint-less, but thrilled with the safety part haha. They did the work Thursday and I got the car back on Friday. A five day safety check process (Monday a.m. - Friday p.m.) The night of February 15th, my car stopped shifting gears (6 speed manual). Because of the holiday I had to wait until the 18th to get it towed to a repair shop. Meanwhile, Daniel was communicating with me (and Chris) via email (Chris even called) being extremely helpful, this meant a lot to me since their lot was closed and they were helping me on their day off. AMAZING. My car is estimated to be ready from the mechanic on 2/25. It was towed to the mechanic that KIC Motors uses (Wrenchy's) who has also been amazing. From time of purchase (1/31) to estimated date car comes home to me from mechanic (2/25) is a total of 26 days. Sixteeen days of the 26 my car was not working. Hoping after getting it back next week it'll hast for a year or so, it should be expected a car last longer than two weeks eh? Again it's 10 years old but...... read more

When I asked the sales rep about the check engine light he responded "Its just a sad truth about old chevys". I should have known better. My wife tried to take it to work not 40 miles later and the trans went out. So I had a whole inspection done. Not only the trans but the ball joints were gone, fuel pump gone, steering column cracked, interior was ripped out. Basically nothing worked. When I called them about this they asked if I wanted s number to a trans shop and the car was sold as is. Hawaii lemon law doesn't cover this because its older than 5 years old. they know their homework. All in all I was out $2800 and less than 40 miles from the lot I donated it for scrap. So I have been thinking about this review for a long time.... I purchased a truck from these guys in September of 2013. I was in a bit of a bind as we transferred here and had an issue with our other vehicle arriving and it threw our timeline completely off... So I'm a truck guy, I wanted a truck. I found a 2004 Nissan Titan, at this dealership and the face man so to speak is extremely friendly and tries to be helpful, his partner on the other hand, gave me a weird vibe, I ignored it as I can generally take care of thing when it comes to cars and stealerships. I went and looked at the truck saw some things wrong, they were helpful and fixed some things. But it delayed me getting the vehicle by a month. They loaned me a vehicle which was nice, but that one had a check engine light on the whole time... Shoulda been a clue right? Now it's a month later i get the truck, all seems fine and well, I even payed for their additional coverage plan... Now first flag, I was told the truck was properly safety inspected... But there was no sticker or anything, they told me took to their guy the use... Went, he had no idea what they were talking about... He hadn't checked it out and that's when I realized the headlights didn't work... Yeah yeah I know, it's a basic item I should have checked, but in my haste I assumed certain things work... So I take the truck home and trouble shoot... After a few trials I realize the PCM was bad that year and they had a new one to replace it... This was causing trucks to idle poorly and shit off, as well as electrical issues... I find the replacement part myself, order and instal, presto! Worked like magic. This tells me, they had to know there was an issue and since it wasn't the headlight bulbs or a fuse, they just decided not to say anything, shady shady business practices going on here. Also within a month the window arm stopped working even though I was told it was recently replaced.... Again fixed myself. Please don't let the friendly exterior blind you to the vehicle issues, also they will show you a FAKE KBB PRINT OUT with inflated pricing...Again shady practices. I would not go back to these guys if they were the last dealership on island. Save your time and energy and go to a reputable dealer and you will be much happier at the end of the day. read more

Very sketchy, stay away. I found a car with them that I liked (a 2004 VW), but I wanted to take it to a mechanic to make sure everything was as advertized before I negotiated a price. KIC told me "we are understaffed and we can't bring it to your mechanic". That's fine, I said; I offered to take the car there myself. They said that couldn't be done either. Not allowing a potential buyer to have a mechanic look at a used car is a **GIGANTIC RED FLAG**. They did say I could have a mechanic go to them to look at the car, but a mechanic can't do a thorough inspection without tools or diagnostic equipment or anything. Ask any mechanic to do that and they will tell you what I'm telling you now: it's a scam. As some other reviews on here have said, they were very friendly, but don't let that fool you. Chris and Dan have a great business selling used automobiles, plus they treat you as family. The professionalism, courtesy and honesty is above reproach. The salesman that work at their dealership along with the detail crew are respectful and treat you as family as well. The 2001 Chevrolet Pickup we purchased from K.I.C. Motors is great. Again, my family and I decided to drive towards KBay, North Shore and Makaha Sunday. The road trip was great. We had a great time. The gas mileage was excellent too. I would have to say these gentlemen are men of their word. They gave us a brand new spare tire with a brand new rim, and even detailed our truck free of charge each time we came back just to chat. The funny thing was my Granddaughter, Wife and I were treated to lunch. The food was delicious, there isn't one dealership in the Mainland or even here that offered this to us. I would have to say that their are some company's that understand a valued customer. These guys go above and beyond to insure that you are treated with respect and courtesy. After talking and everything we finally decided to go through with all the financing and picking out our car. Well the "EVERYONE IS APPROVED" sign is not true. Not to mention my bank didn't approve the loan because the vehicle is marked over by $4,000. We found out that the KBB they printed was not the legit KBB value. So we did it ourselves, and come to find out our bank was right, the custom additions in the vehicle did not add up to the amount they were asking. After that day, we walked off and never turned back around. Oh! If by any chance they stop you on your way out the door, it's because they'll approve you through a mainland financial institution that requires a large sum of down payment. That down payment don't exactly bring down your monthly payment or interest rate. Should have figured from how "flakey" the place looked. read more

I stopped by KIC MOTORS looking for a work truck. they had a nice ranger with a bed topper on-site. I financed through USAA so there was very little paperwork it had to be done. The topper had a key entry to it that wasn't working upon purchasing they promised they'd have it fixed. they asked us to be at the shop at 9 AM the next day we waited for two hours before anybody showed up. after they showed up it took another two hours for the locksmith that they supposedly had already contracted to be there to fix the topper showed up. waiting all day they were never able to get the topper key fixed. they then called pop a lock to have pop a lock come out and fix the topper. during this whole time they let us know what an inconvenience it was for them to take care of the vehicle that there was. to make a long story short basically they promised to fix the lock. then they said they would only get it open. now I have a ranger with a hole in the top were they broke the lock. I will never do business with this company again moreover we had the truck serviced and found that it was need of major servicing because the truck had basically stop leak in the radiator very poor place. do not ever buy a car from them and oil additive in the engine. don't buy a car here. read more

FRIENDLY PEOPLE, TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE First impressions were that they are very friendly. I asked to bring a 2005 Acura TSX for a test drive and also to bring it to a mechanic to get it looked at which they happily agreed to. GOOD THING I BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC! Car was being sold for $5,995, but a Midas check showed that the car needed $2,500 DOLLARS WORTH OF WORK!! On top of that the work to fix the paint job on it would be $1,500 alone. Told them about my problems with the car and they did not want to even budge from their offer! They only lowered it to $5,000 when they heard I would be paying cash. They even told me that their mechanic found no such issues with the car. SHOCKER, you're telling me that you aren't advertising the fact that your car is worth less than half of what you are selling it for? They also used Kelly Blue Books "Good Condition" rating for this car which it obviously wasn't based on my mechanic check and just looking at the car's exterior. I bought a car here two months ago. Seemed like nice guys and they had a "partner" mechanic shop that checked out all the cars before they sell them. My engine light just came on and when I talked to my mechanic, he said this car had been burning oil for some time and long story short, it probably won't make it a year. They knew this when they sold it to me. And I also asked my mechanic if I paid too much for it, and he said yes. They came down a lot in price after negotiating and so that should have been a red flag. They were trying to get this lemon off their lot. Other people may have had a good experience with them, but I found them to be dishonest and slimy. read more

Short story: Buyer beware, and if you put down deposit - keep checking until you get it back. Long story: Went to check out cars here cause good reviews. They showed us a car - checked under hood and the front bumper was literally held on by zip ties. I thought they couldn't be serious trying to sell something that jerry-rigged. Asked if they would fix before selling and they were like "ehh, it doens't effect car's performance. We'll look into it. Let you know Monday." We put $200 deposit down on credit card. Didn't hear back from them Monday, so called and asked for deposit back. Had to call two more times over two months because deposit never put back on card. Eventually, guy on phone says come by in person, we'll give it to you in cash. I go in, start my story, dude says "Oh yeah, you - here" and pulls out 4 $50s. I never even told him my name. He didn't ask for ID. When I said "Thanks" he said, "Well, you deserve it - you bought the car!" We did NOT buy a car from them - think he had me mixed up with someone else. I've been holding off on updating my review because I keep trying to find excuses not to blame this company for all of the problems I am having because they are nice people, but only realizing that they are at fault. Yes, I understand it is a used vehicle. Yes, I understand my terms were "as is". What I don't understand is that they knew there were some issues with the vehicle, yet they sold it to me. I am a single, hard working mother of 4 and they knew that when I walked into their lot. I dont bust my butt for nothing and when my car breaks, it affects my income, and it affects my kids and that upsets me. When I first bought my car, I told them the problem I noticed and they said it was normal. The only reason I felt comfortable purchasing it was because of the 4 year warranty that I'm paying for. I did not know I'd be needing to use it so soon. My car has been in the shop TWICE since I purchased her 2 months ago. The first time I took it to Daniel it was there for 2 weeks! They say they have the best GM mechanic on the island, yet he failed to notice that the problem was not only what they claim it was but also something else, which didn't solve the problem I took it to them for. Yeah, it was good for a few days but the problem returned. One of their guys who came and looked at my car tried to tell me it was normal. Yes, I am a female, but I know what I need to know about cars and that was NOT normal. Fast forward to last week friday, I got stranded. I had to take my car to the shop and I had to get a rental. Money for my kids coming out of my pocket. My problem is that they knew of the problems yet failed to make sure I was buying something reliable and they depended on my warranty to pay for existing problems, a warranty that I am paying for to fix the existing issues prior to my purchase. Just because I have a warranty, it doesn't mean I am NOT paying for the repairs, i pay every month for them and it's sad to know the car lot knew about them. I have had more problems than anything. And Jessica please respond to your customers in a more professional way, it is very shame of you to belittle and put your customers personal information on blast, it really shows character. My career revolves around customer service and social media and dealing with irate customers and I know that the responses I have read are very rude, condescending and unprofessional. read more

I have been doing business with these guys for two years, and I can tell you that they rate an A+ in my book. Part of the problem with these sites is that the only people that seem to write reviews are the ones that are angry about something, KIC has sold about 700 cars over the last two years, and there are a handful of reviews here, some good, some not so good. I've personally witnessed the great customer service and genuine care and concern from Daniel, the owner. Daniel works hard to make sure that his customers get everything that they need, and that they are selling a quality vehicle. I've seen him go above and beyond on several occasions, when there was absolutely no reason that he had to, other than to help a customer. But I've also witnessed plenty of people who ask unreasonable things from dealerships, and then take to bullying when they don't get their way. If you are looking for a quality vehicle from a dealer that you can trust to keep their word, and from someone who really cares that you get what you are looking for, go and see Daniel and his crew at KIC. Okay i need to post this. Please beware when looking on line on their website. Went in two weeks ago to see if they could help in getting us a newer car. We had just paid off our other vehicle from another used car lot. And had put so much money into it we wanted a more reliable car. Kic motors pop up on my news feed. Went online and looked and saw they help all with not sp good credit. Went in they ran my credit ot showed nothing. So i asked what are my options. They said i would need 3500 down. So i went home and thought about it. Called back a week later after checking online there inventory. Saw a car we were interested. Ask to test drive it. Went in to check out. Then was told the check engine light was on. So i asked what was the problem. They said the mechanics would have to look at it first. So i said we would back in two days to see what they found they agreed. Came back two days and car was not looked at yet. Story changes car niw has 2 year warranty. Not the 4 that was posted online. Now they wanted another 500 down. For totla of 4000. Omg. Both guys were nice the first time . But to now change there story not cool. Please dont waste your time here. read more
