I've dined at Kiki's three times, and each visit is consistently delicious. Must order dishes are the cheesecake and the grilled octopus. I could wax poetic about Kiki's cheesecake - for crust enthusiasts, this is THE cheesecake to get. The grilled octopus is also a must - it is tender, and charred, and mouthwateringly delicious. After checking to be sure we could leave with unfinished wine, we ordered a bottle of Oenodea and each had a glass. We also ordered the grilled octopus, palates me avga, and the moussaka (as they were out of the lamb frikasse.) the octopus was super tasty and tender, the fries opted with oregano, feta cheese and an egg, and the moussaka was huge. I love the food at this place. Not really sure if it is really authentic Greek food (as I have never been to Greece). But whatever I have eaten so far has been amazing. The first time the wait time was 45mins. They don't take reservations but no complains. The second time I didn't really have to wait even though I went at a peak time on a Saturday. We ordered tzatziki, pastichio, and grilled octopus to split and everything was alarmingly bad. The pastichio tasted like apple pie (?) and the grilled octopus was the worst I've ever had. 4.5/5 After hearing about Kiki's for years and getting multiple recommendations from friends, my wife and I finally visited Kiki's this morning for brunch. We were very happy with the food and will return for dinner! The food was fresh, very well priced, and tasty. We were very impressed by the lemon potatoes; I had never seen potatoes made like this before, topped with a luscious lemon, butter, and potato purée. The feta omelette was also delicious. I was not entirely impressed with the chopped Greek salad or the toast that came with the Greek egg toast but the egg was crispy and perfectly cooked. Pylos' Greek salad is the best in NYC! Spanakopita (not pictured) was delicious too. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten free options for one member of our party who has celiac. Service was incredible, how can they stay in business with such bad service. We ordered from 4 or 5 different wait staff and not a single order made it in. Had to order everything 2 or 3 times because we'd wait 20 minutes before asking if anything was coming. They said no and asked us what we wanted after we waited 20 minutes. And this was multiple times. Worst service I've ever seen. They took two orders of fries off the bill because they knew the service was bad. We didn't even ask for anything off and didn't mention bad service. At one point, one of the waitresses asked us how long we'd been waiting since we ordered. Kiki's is a fun place with good food and prices!They don't take reservations so definitely expect a wait if you go during a popular time. I probably waited 40 minutes on a Friday night around 6:30pm. When we were finally seated, our table was cramped into a corner and the restaurant was quite loud, so overall I didn't love the ambiance. We ordered a bunch of small plates to share. The Melitzanosalata was a solid and more unique version of eggplant mash that was yummy, although it was still on the simpler side. The pita was hot and was decent, but I thought it needed to be fluffier/softer. Both the pita and bread slices it came with didn't seem particularly fresh, like maybe they were just reheated. The small plates all came out so quickly that I suspected other dishes were premade/reheated. The Maroulosalata Salad was a nice light salad, but mostly just tasted like chopped romaine, so I wouldn't order it again. My favorite dish of the night was the Dakos Salad. It was super fresh and savory and more filling from the unique barley husk. From the hot small plates, we ordered the Yigantes, Briam, and Spanakopita. I thought the Yigantes were good and enjoyed the tomato vegetable sauce. I didn't like the Briam as much, but it tasted pretty much as you'd expect a veggie stew to taste. Typical Greek non lettuce salad with olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese etc in a sour vinegrette of some sort. Saganaki- 1st thought is that it's interesting. Only one?", I'm guessing it's not optimal for solo diners either. Service - awful - I arrived to meet a friend for lunch - the place was not crowded and I was asked to sit at the bar (I understand if it's crowded but this was lunch with empty tables) I declined sitting at the bar (I don't drink and I have a hard time with bar stools) so he sat me at the tiniest table. I asked for a cup of tea with milk and sugar. He said "we don't have milk and sugar, only honey" I said "fine" and is that what they do for coffee??? My colleague arrived and we ordered several small plates - which were too numerous for the table. I had to ask the waiter to take some of the empty plates. The food is delicious- I can't argue with that-but I will never go back there and I have to say I've lived in this neighborhood for 35 years - much longer than this hipster waiter has probably been alive. Kiki's is a poppin spot located in chinatown/LES area. Definitely expect a wait as they don't accept reservations. But if you put your name down about an hour you can go get a drink in the area and about an hour later they'll text you to head on over! It currently has expanded to include both the main restaurant and another spot across the street due to its popularity. My only complaint is that the restaurant was pretty freezing on a cold night despite the few heaters they have in place. For the food, we tried a number of dishes. Highlights from the small dishes included the zucchini chips and the saganaki. The chips were covered in parmesan and were nicely crispy. The saganaki was incredible - oozy cheese coated with phyllo and drizzled with honey. I could have eaten the whole thing although it was probably better that I had to share it. Of the entrees, we really enjoyed the pastitchio. This is similar to a moussaka but has a more lasagna consistency with noodles incorporated into the ground meat and bechamel sauce. The only thing I would probably skip was the eggplant dip which I thought lacked some flavor. The best part of this experience though is when the bill came and we were SHOCKED at how affordable it was. For the amount of food we had these are obscenely reasonable prices. It's on Division Street, which is one of the most hidden side streets in Chinatown, and the storefront shows Chinese characters.
