Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 I came here because the yelp ratings were high, expecting some really good Korean food. The menu was plentiful with a lot of fusion options between sushi and Korea dishes. I got the rice bokki and bk roll to share with my mom. The prices were a little higher than other places, but the food tasted pretty good and it was filling. The rice bokki is sweet and spicy with an egg, fish cakes, and rice cakes. The bk roll was a monster, filled with shrimp tempura, beef bulgogi and spicy pork. If you don't finish the piece in one bite, then it's falling apart. Service was friendly but really slow. They didn't have too many people working so there would be no one up front sometimes because they're fulfilling take out orders. I had to go up and ask for a to-go container and our bill. The restaurant feels a bit cramped but there's lots of tables in a row for parties of 4 or less. There's a lot of decorations that makes the restaurant a bit cluttered. And they have kpop videos playing in the background which is fun. It's a good place to get quick, take out Korean food. But there's definitely better restaurants around if you're craving Korean food.

ordered via grubhub delivery. as a korean, i was pleasantly surprised by the taste as i had low expectations. my husband got the bulgogi bowl and i got the salmon poke bowl. the salmon quality wasn't great and rice was slightly dry but otherwise tasty. i finished my bowl in probably 10 minutes max. my husband enjoyed his bowl even though he had ordered the spicy pork. overall a good experience!

I've been obsessed with Korean food over the past few years. And this place doesn't disappoint! I ordered online so didn't eat inside, but it was very clean and cute inside the restaurant. The seating seems to be very limited, but there were a few options. When I picked up my order, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! I ordered a couple of items that were more fusion than traditional Korean but they were very good. The Bulgogi specifically was well seasoned and delicious. This was a great experience and I look forward to going back!

06/15/24 - Today we went back to take advantage of our Groupon purchase. We bought $30 worth of food for $15. This time we both ordered poke bowls. I ordered the salmon poke bowl & my wife ordered the tuna poke bowls. They were both delicious Both were served over a bed of rice w/masago (fish roe), shredded crab meat, lettuce, roasted garlic, diced cucumbers, diced green peppers & cilantro. Of course my wife's had tuna & mine had salmon. We mixed it up so all the ingredients could be blended & eaten (like halo halo). I added hot sauce to mine. Awesome meal very filling and nutritious. I love this place they have a huge variety of Korean food options & is absolutely worth checking out. I just wish I lived closer to Arlington Heights, but I will definitely be back again

For me, this restaurant is a mixed bag with some elements to like and some not to like as much. Outside of the food, the restaurant is somewhat small but just large enough to accommodate some tables for dine in. Given the size of the restaurant, the menu variety is actually pretty good with lots of options ranging from fried chicken to poke bowls to bibimbap to kimbop and other Korean favorites. Service is friendly and the decor is appropriate for the restaurant. For me, the food is not the best and not the worst. Portion sizes skew a little on the smaller side, though prices are not much different from competitors nearby. This also doesn't come with ban-chan that you'd get from many other Korean restaurants nearby with your meal. The ingredients do seem to be pretty good, but not really any different from the large number of competitors nearby on Milwaukee Ave. With that said, the flavor of the food was fine -- like the salmon poke bowl was done fairly good, though fish pieces could've been a bit bigger. The bulgogi was tender and lightly sweet, but not the best version of this that I've had. Presentation overall was pretty good. Overall, a solid performer in the category. Good for a reasonably priced hot meal if you'd doing something nearby in the area like visiting the Wheeling Town Center.

I can't believe I haven't tried this hidden gem until now! Kimbop is located right off Elmhurst Rd (83) and McHenry Rd. If you see La Michoacána then you are right there - KIMBOP is located just a couple steps from there. Kimbop is a small, warm, and inviting restaurant with delicious food! I have been craving kimbop rolls (Korean rolls) with beef bulgogi and this place hits the spot! My roll was packed with fresh ingredients, juicy and plentiful beef bulgogi, and rolled tightly together. I can make a meal just out of this alone. I also ordered the bibimbop bowl with bulgogi and it's another winner! Just the right amount of rice, fresh vegetables, plenty of meat, and topped with a sunny side egg (they ask how you want your egg prepared)! It was one delectable bite after another! Now... as I'm craving Korean food, specifically kimbop rolls and bibimbop, I couldn't resist ordering their wings! Korean style wings are a food group on its own! Don't ever compare it to BWW or any of those wing places. Korean wings are crispy, juicy, tender, crispy, covered in sauce and yet still sooooooo crispy crunchy! I haven't found a place that makes crispy, crunchy AND juicy wings covered in the sweet and spicy sauce until NOW! I'm super happy I ordered 12 wings because hubs and I devoured them! Donald really steered me good with his recommendation of the sauce. He was friendly and welcoming. He's really proud of the restaurant and the food, and rightly so! Craving Korean? Kimbop is the place to go and you won't regret it!

Kimbop recently opened, and I wanted to try it out. You order at the counter, and the food is brought out to your table. I ordered the beef bulgogi bowl, and my husband ordered the salmon poke bowl. The portion size was smaller than I was expecting for the price. The food was good but was fairly average in taste. In an area that has many above average Asian restaurants to choose from, Kimbop doesn't stand out.

I've been here several times and must say that the food is extremely hit or miss. It's mainly a takeout place though there are tables available for dine in. Our experiences have been strictly take out only. I'm all for supporting small businesses but I hope Kimbop will improve with constructive criticism. Let's start positive with the good. Items I would get again on the menu are definitely the Kimbop (I've enjoyed all 4 variations I've tried), the yakisoba, and the rice cake skewers (these are addicting). Our most recent trip was extremely disappointing. Fried rice was sad, had a few pieces of carrots, no scrambled eggs, and had zero flavor. Couldn't even taste the soy sauce. Bibimpop was more of a joke - a bed of rice with stir fried cabbage/mushroom on top. Again zero flavors. Idk how they can get these basic dishes so wrong Food aside, I would say their service needs the most help. The food is NEVER ready when we come (we usually order on phone 15-30 min before arriving). I see other delivery drivers also having to wait for their orders. I feel that their food is also not consistent in quality; sometime sesame seeds are sprinkled other times not; Sometimes the dish comes with a fried egg other times not. They also seem to have lots of trouble with their register -- there has been issues with payment each time we come. They also failed to refund to us an item and they forgot to include in the order; we didn't find out until we got home, spoke to someone on the phone who said well get a refund and never did. When we came back for a second visit, the manager had to resolve the issue for us. I may come back just for their Kimbop or the rice cake skewer appetizers if I choose to ignore the bad services. I think there are better food options in the area that won't be as frustrating.

i've been here a handful of times now and always have such a pleasant experience. service: friendly and prompt. they are quick to greet you at the door and offer help with any questions. there is a self serve water station towards the middle of the restaurant restaurant is small and not too many tables but each time i've gone there wasn't many people. food: everything i order here is so good. they have a very extensive meal and also have added more it seems -bulgogi fries: must add the kimchi. it's so good! ask for no ketchup though.. felt like it would have been better without it -assortment of makis and kimbops: i can't choose, whichever one ive gotten has been so good -fried chicken: super crunchy! everything about my meals have been so good! highly recommend!

The kimbap here is so fresh and flavorful. The rice is perfectly seasoned, and the seaweed has a nice crisp texture. I tried the beef kimbap, and the combination of tender beef, crunchy vegetables, and a hint of sesame oil made every bite delicious. It is a great snack or light meal, and I will definitely be coming back for more.

We absolutely love this restaurant. The appetizers were hot, crispy and delicious. The kimbop reminded me of my childhood and are something even my kids enjoy with me now! The rolls were all delicious and fresh tasting. We have ordered out from them many times and their food is always on point.

This little hidden place just opened 2 weeks ago. OMG!!!! Super fresh ingredients make an amazing meals! We ordered ddukboki, spicy tuna kimbop and beef bulgogi. EVERYTHING was absolutely amazing! Our first time of trying kimbop- korean type of sushi and we are in love. Even considering stopping here after work, being quiet hungry, we weren't able to finish everything. So here comes my lunch for tomorrow! Excellent customer service is a huge plus too. Wishing this place good luck and hope to see them in business for long-long time! read more

So yeah, what can I say... I ordered the Bim Bop bowl or whatever with beef I was under the impression it comes in a hot stone bowl. so one can hear the sizzling with the egg and the rice on the side of the hot bowl that sort of adds to the eating experience. Apparently this one didn't I will say the dish was very very tasty however another sidenote, was the fact that every single Korean restaurant I have been to I have gotten at least half a dozen of those weird appetizers like kimchi and mung beans, etc. I did not receive that. That was kind of a bummer. On the TV, there was some sort of Korean dance tournaments that had young Korean girls. I was torn between watching that and feeling guilty about watching that. That's not their fault by any means but I thought that I would just add that in there anyway yeah... It was OK however, it was a dollar more than this other Korean place not too far....Hwang Dae something... that place is really really good. No offense to this place but it's a harsh dog eat dog restaurant business and some restaurants have milk bones that dogs will chop on. Yeah I know that makes no sense. read more

You have got to be kidding me. Ordered carry out because of the glowing reviews. Tiny, tiny portions. The spice salmon love "special" roll was about the same size as the $5 special at Jewel (and not spicy at all, even with the wasabi they put on the side). The spicy pork yakisoba was also small, not spicy and had about a half dozen tiny pieces of meat. The squid salad was good, but also a small portion. The three items were more than $35 and it was less food than you get for a $10 lunch special elsewhere. read more

Spectacular food! Closest thing to authentic Korean street food you see in dramas without actually be in Korea. Way better flavor profile than the ones you buy in Asian markets. And you can absolutely tell that they make everything fresh. Got the ddukboki and the spicy tuna Kimbop and bulgogi and it was def the Kimbop to try, like you can't go wrong with them. And the portions are so generous and well crafted. They're a little short staffed but trust me it was worth it. Come with a friend and chill or take it to go! My new go to place for Kimbop now! read more

OMG !!! The best local food spot I have been to. This place seriously makes my mouth water :) so amazing I ordered the poke bowl mix, comes with salmon, tuna, cucumber, crab, edamame, white fish. Let me just start off with saying that I don't even like fish at all but this place has changed that. Incredible mix and flavors. All in all will recommend. The cherry on top is the amazing staff. I had never tried Korean food prior to ordering from here! I ordered online and didn't get the confirmation that the restaurant had received my order. I called a bit later to check and the man behind the counter took my order and was apologetic that they hadn't received it. When I came in, he told me that one of his iPads wasn't working properly and thanked me for calling to let him know! He was actually calling to fix the issue when I came in. It was nice to see that they were concerned right away when a customer called and said they had ordered but didn't receive confirmation. Great service and the food was AMAZING. I will definitely be back. :) read more

There's so much to like about this place. Service was friendly and fast. The young man at the counter, who is also part owner helped me and was patient in sorting out what was the right spiciness for me. I got the spicy chicken Kimbop. This is the first time I've had it, so nothing to compare it to, but it was delicious. I got the hot. But my husband is Indian and I'm used to quite spicy food. The mild is probably best for most white people. No racism intended. Even the bathroom is spotlessly clean. The decor is upbeat and there is K-pop playing on a large TV. read more

I must admit when I first arrived to this restaurant I didn't have high expectations. I thought it's just another one of those places with average food but try to make them seem delicious. But to check it off my list I went and gave it a try. Man I was totally wrong. To start, the staff members were very friendly. They had a lot of patience in explaining to you if you have any questions on any items on the menu. They even bring out the food to your table and service was great! The place isn't big, it has a few tables available to dine in, but the decoration was good and the atmosphere is great. Price wise, based on the quality and quantity you get. It is totally worth it. I tried their spicy pork plate and fried chicken wings...man...they tasted so delicious. Pork was tender with great taste and not too spicy. Chicken was so crispy outside and very tender inside and the sauce on the chicken really hit the spot....sweet with tiny bit of spicy. And they were huge!! After first visit, I returned again, and received same service, same quality of food and quantity. This is definitely one restaurant that will always be on my list when I am trying to figure out where to go eat. Give this place a try! read more

I took my girlfriend here while we waited to meet with someone and it's probably the area's best kept secret. The staff is incredibly friendly and the music/mukbangs on the tv are so entertaining. I got tteokbokki and my girlfriend got bulgogi and we loved both of them. The bulgogi is flavourful and the marinade is sweet unlike some bulgogis. The tteokbokki is also amazing as it wasn't too spicy and the rice cake to fish cake ratio was great. I can confidently say that I will be returning because of how hospitable the staff is. I'm a huge kpop fan and they have posters in the restaurant which was also a huge plus. The whole place is incredibly clean and the sit-in area is so cool. The atmosphere reminds me of a restaurant in asia and it's just so nice and calm. I swear you'll want to tell everybody about this place once you eat here. read more

Don the waiter he is the best. He knows all of his menus so as what would be good to order depending on your taste prefer. Sushi decent comes in big portion so as the ramen soups. My girls love their ramen always gets it with extra noodles. read more

The Kimchi was some of the best I have had...and the garlic chicken wings were fabulous. The key feature of their system is ordering based upon pictures on a tablet. It seems that portions pictured are typically enough for two people to share. There were several dishes I ordered that brought larger quantity than I thought was a single portion...so if you are eating alone, take into consideration that you may end up with more than you might have expected. My family and I came to celebrate an early Valentine's Day and treated ourselves to a nice dinner. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. We booked ours and were promptly seated at 6:30 PM on a Friday night with no wait. Don't you love when things run smoothly like that? We ordered multiple rounds for our family of 4 using the iPad and through the night, I'd say the foods arrived under or around five minutes. There's a 2-hour dining limit, and we used all of it. The iPad conveniently shows a countdown timer once you're seated, so you know exactly how much time you have left. It's especially helpful toward the end when you're deciding whether to squeeze in one last dessert order. I also really appreciate the transparency of their ordering system. The pricing is clearly displayed on the iPad as you select items, so you always know what you're ordering and whether something is included in the AYCE menu. On one of our other visits, I accidentally tapped an item à la carte that was outside of our AYCE menu and saw the charge immediately on the screen. I notified management right away, and they removed it promptly. This kind of system helps prevent surprise charges at the end of the meal. At the end, they print out a detailed receipt of everything you ordered -- it almost feels like a "trophy receipt." It really reinforces how much food you get for the price and how far your money stretches here. Also note that gratuity was not automatically added (for our party of 4) so we were able to write in our tip. There's a wide variety included in the AYCE menu. That said, on this particular visit they had run out of a few items -- calamari rings, hot and sour soup, house salad, and a couple others. It wasn't a huge disappointment, though I was personally looking forward to the hot and sour soup. I did notice they've added some new appetizers like fried chicken wings. They also offer familiar kid-friendly items such as fries, chicken nuggets, and fried dumplings, which is great for families. Overall, the selection is plentiful -- plenty of beef, chicken, and seafood, more than you can realistically eat. Throughout your meal, staff will offer to change the grill (which is definitely needed after a while since it gets dark and charred). They spray some kind of a protective layer on it - my guess is so the meat doesn't stick. There seem to be two types of grills they rotate between -- one for general meats and one better suited for thinner cuts. My personal favorite is the Hawaiian beef bulgogi with pineapple. I also enjoy the spicy calamari and mini sausages. The garlic shrimp was another standout -- large and very flavorful. You really get your money's worth here. This has become one of our go-to spots for family celebrations. My husband especially loves it -- and that says a lot. We've been to many Korean BBQ places, and this is the only one where he's consistently satisfied with the meat quality, marinades, and sauces. He's very particular about flavor profiles, so that's high praise. The table height is also ergonomically comfortable, which really matters when you're cooking and eating for so long. The tables themselves are large and spacious, making it easy to hold the numerous small plates that come with all the different ingredients. We enjoy the ambiance here as it's trendy and well kept. Service is attentive -- staff clear plates promptly, offer grill changes, and are easy to reach when needed. You can also request assistance directly from the iPad which makes things seamless. It was cool to see they still have claw machines in the waiting area, which is a fun bonus for families. On our way out, they also had toothpicks and candy available. Small touches like that are appreciated. This visit was interesting because they had someone walking around offering complimentary printed photos with a Tomahawk-themed template. Additional prints with a frame were available for purchase ($20). Lastly, I wrote in my review a year ago and suggested a loyalty dining program. Since then, we have dined here a few more times but I haven't heard anything yet on this visit. We would still love for them to launch something! :)
