I think the original owners sold the business to someone else because they have become terrible in the area of service and food quality. I think the poor service had something to do with my low tip which I mistyped at counter payment. Their iPad point of sale system is very sensitive and I accidentally hit 4 cents instead of $4 ($33). I was going to give the counter guy $4 in cash before we left. We sat for 40 minutes watching everyone get their food then my wife was upset once people after us getting their food. We went to the counter and asked for a refund and the kid said we don't give refunds. After explaining that we mistyped the tip amount the owner finally agreed to refund our money. I am glad this situation happened because it revealed the character of the new owner. The last time I ordered here the chicken was undercooked but I let it slide. This time the poor / revengeful service made me had enough! They put their sound system very loud so you can barely have a conversation. Huge thumbs down! read more

We went on a little culinary adventure for Korean fried chicken! If you haven't tried Kimchi Red yet in Alpharetta you should! In an unassuming little strip center on Old Milton Pkwy is a little family owned restaurant. It only has 10 or so tables, doesn't serve alcohol or fountain drinks (only bottled/canned beverages) but it's clean, the staff is courteous and helpful, and they had a waitlist by the time we left. You order at the counter, it's not fancy--but you will have yummy sauce all over your fingers when you leave so it doesn't need to be. The kimchi rice is beyond fabulous, the spicy pork plate is flavorful with fantastic rice noodles and rice--and then there's the chicken. Oh boy! They have several different sauces/flavors you can choose from for the chicken. You can pick your "heat," we got mild, and I still thought my face would blow off my head (I should have taken a picture of my face--I was purple) but it was so good. Chicken is cooked to order so expect to have to be a little patient on it. Most items are priced to share and four people could have easily eaten what we had last night, very generous portions. We brought more food home than we consumed. Everything we had was excellent. And *bonus* (we didn't realize it) you can walk right next door to Andy's Custard and cool down your mouth with a sundae afterwards which is exactly what we did! It was perfect! We will be back. This place knows what they're doing! If they keep doing it, my prediction for them is a bigger restaurant with a bar and seated service in the not so distant future. Maybe more than one. read more

The worst fried chicken in the nation. Trash. We came here wondering what all the hype was about and were excited to try the chicken. We waited an hour for the chicken and never even got our full order. They gave us our sons order but not ours. Many people came in and got their food before us, the store was closing so the person came to check on us just to find out we haven't even gotten our order. The manager/owner starts yelling back and forth with me in the restaurant with children present. We had the Signature Tour today which included fried chicken, short ribs, glass noodles, mandu, kimchi fried rice, pork bulgogi, tacos, and steamed rice. There was enough food for ~4 people. The fried chicken was juicy with a crispy exterior and sweet, but savory flavor. This was easily the best fried chicken I have ever had! The other items were delicious as well--their short ribs and glass noodles were also contenders for our favorite items. It did take a while for our food to come out, but that is understandable as the restaurant was incredibly busy, and our order was quite large. The shop itself is relatively small, so lines formed quickly (but also went away just as fast). Regardless, the small staff was very friendly and checked on us consistently to make sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely be back again to try some of their other fried chicken flavors! read more

I heard this was the #1 Fried Chicken Spot in the US, so my husband and I had to drive 2 1/2 hours to verify this statement. LOL. We arrived shortly after they opened on a Saturday. It's a very small space but it gets the job done. Clean and cute inside. We were greeted and were asked if we had been there before. We said no and we were given a tour of the menu, a very nice touch! Chicken dishes start at $29.99 and they serve 2 and you can only choose one flavor per dish. They serve a couple other dishes that are not chicken and I think there is a vegetarian option. Everything is cooked to order so be patient. We ordered the Spicy Jeonju Chicken and the kimchi fries. The chicken was really good. This is not KFC or POPEYES, if your even comparing Korean fried chicken to those you need to get out more. My only suggestion is to create a chicken sampler, maybe choose 3 flavors on one plate so that customers can taste multiple flavors. I wanted to try so many of them but the serving for 2 was more than enough for 2 people. Food is brought out as it's completed, so you may not get your fries at the exact same times as your chicken, but that was fine with me. Don't hold on to none of my food, I want it hot! It's family owned and the service is REALLY REALLY great! By the time we were leaving the place was packed. The wait time for to go orders was 45 min. If your in the ATL area I would definitely go. Now would I drive down there again from Augusta, GA again ???????? Jury is still out on that. Kimchi Red is authentic Korean cuisine. The Kimchi is sweet (rather than spicy) & super fresh. The Spicy Jeonju chicken wings were excellent. I ordered the 'default' spice-level and it still kicked a bit. Food is a solid 4.5 with service at 4. It takes a bit of time for the chicken, but it's on-point. The ambiance is okay. The price tag looks intimidating, but trust that the entree is at bare minimum 2 meals, so if you're prone to reheating leftovers, they've got that going for them. If you're given the option of spice, believe the tiers. Mild will be mild. Spicy will burn solidly while still presenting flavor. My toilet would rue the day I asked for extra spicy. I have to try the snow chicken to see if this visit was a one off because instagram seems to love the food. My twin and I went based on the hype from the instagram posts. There's a young lady at the counter where the register is and she sees us standing there so she says something to the guy nearby that's prepping food and I know she did because he turned and looked at us then shook his head and laughed. I took that as a queue to walk to the register and ask if we should order to which she said yes, you get a number, and they bring it to your table so I said to her the signage is posted to wait. We get past all that and kool. They have these Korean beverages in the cooler that I've seen in the Asian market and in Seoul when I used to work over there. That was a nice touch. The place is small, almost hole in the wall vibes but not divey with a little grunge - it was clean. It's in a small strip next to a Duncan Doughnut to which they mysteriously had a supply of orange and purple straws (weird). We ordered bbq spicy jeyuk and KR house beef plates that included kimchi, glass noodles and rice. The rice and glass noodles were my favorite. The white rice was fluffy and simply delish. The glass noodles with mushroom was on point. Both my husband and I agreed that our meat was a little fatty and came out cold. We also ordered regular fries. The fries were $7. Although they were fried perfectly with the right crisp and crunch. It was something that I wouldn't order again. Overall, this place is yummy, the pros outweigh the few cons. The best halal food in the city. Everything is fresh. Nothing ever disappoints. The only thing that sucks is the place is so busy so often during rush hour, you get there, reserve your spot in line, and then come 30ish minutes after to finally eat. I have tried the kimchi, honey butter pepper, and spicy jeonju boneless ($2 more for boneless) chicken. My family and I loved the honey butter pepper the most out of the three. Even the kimchi fried rice is great (can ask for no pork), though I did not enjoy the side fried chicken as much. May ask for another protein on the side next time. Since the small location is always packed, we always end up doing to-go. It is my hope that the location expands/grows or equally fantastic locations open up elsewhere (hope Alice the owner reads this New Year's wish so I can get the Red Buldak haha). The chicken is pricey at $30-35; however it is worth it in my opinion. Easy to tell why Kimchi Red gets so much recognition nationally. Though it is hard to make into a weekly routine at the price point. When doing to-go, you have an option to get the sauces on the side so the chicken does not get soggy. However, if you aren't great at mixing, the experience is just not the same, and I would suggest not bringing up putting the sauces on the side. One thing they may need to work on is choosing the spice levels....They do ask about making the dishes mild, medium or spicy, but it seems like it is never spicy and all 3 heat levels taste the same? Maybe they are too busy to get it right when I go, still the best though. They even run out of the boneless chicken option on some days by 5 or 6PM. Really was excited for this place since their menu was quite different from other typical k chicken places. However I was pretty disappointed. We ordered rose chon chicken and kimchi jjigae meal. The Rose sauce was bland and just tasted like plain cream. No flavor. I got the kimchi jigae meal for my son as that is his favorite Korean meal and he barely touched it. I tried it and also no flavor. Didn't have that authentic kimchi soup flavor. The only thing that was good was the tteokboki. We really wanted to like this place but I don't think we will come back. :( read more
