(For the record, I didn't think it was that scary). We ordered the super fries with bulgogi, a kimchi fried rice bowl with spicy pork, a bibimbap burrito with kalbi, and, of course, a kimchichanga with bulgogi. All of it was the bomb. I really love that this place is so close to UCR. It's one of my favorite fusion spots. The bulgogi kimchichanga is my favorite thing to order here. This place will surprise you. I had no Idea of what to expect really besides knowing this is a mexican and asian fusion of flavors. Well it was indeed a different fusion, but also, a very cool place to hang out, the restaurant has plenty of space, warm environment, nicely decorated and outstanding customer service provided by a young guy who was always smiling and making sure we had everything we needed. Hit or Miss I was craving kimchi fried rice so I decided to order from Kimchianga again. The first time I ordered the kimchi fried rice with bulgogi I was blown away. The bulgogi was cooked perfectly and the kimchi fried rice was fragrant and chewy. The sunny side egg on top tied everything together perfectly. Not alot of places make kimchi fried rice well. Unfortunately today, what I received today was just subpar. The bulgogi was burnt and it was very apparent because the rice also had burnt pieces inside. The overall taste of the kimchi fried rice I received today made me reevaluate my top picks. What can I say? I never write bad reviews but I wish I never tried this place and wasted my money (it's overpriced). I ordered an appetizer because it was happy hour and I'm a big mushroom lover so I wanted to try the fried stuffed mushrooms. They were really good and something unique that I haven't tried elsewhere, but it barely came with anything on it! There was 5 half pieces on the plate. It was $5 on happy hour. When we got our check, they were charging the normal $8 price and said we didn't let them know we wanted the "happy hour price" and that the happy hour price has less pieces???? They fixed it no problem, but I looked at the happy hour pieces and it was 4 pieces??? so I can pay $5 instead of $8 but I get two less (I guess the non happy hour comes with 6 pieces but we didn't even get 6 pieces), still what is happy hour if I'm just paying less for less food anyways. Also, I noticed that the table behind us also complained about their check price, probably because they didn't let the server know they wanted "happy hour price", it's just so confusing to even have a happy hour in the first place if you have to oddly specify and then you get less portions because you're paying less. It's ridiculous. I was actually really excited to come here because I'm a huge Korean food and kimchi fan, I didn't even take any pictures of our food because I was so hungry and excited to eat. I didn't expect to dislike this place. I paid $15 for the kimchi fried rice with chicken and I added the chili oil, the chili oil was really good but the small amount they gave me couldn't save the lack of flavor of the fried rice and the chicken being super bland just threw it off even more, bland chicken is the worst. It needed a lot more seasoning and flavors and its perplexing because Korean food and Mexican food are so easy to make flavorful so I'd expect a fusion to have a lot of flavor. I even waited to add soy sauce to eat which took a while, because there was only one server and he was also standing front at the host podium not really paying attention to the tables, but I don't blame him, he was the only one there and the atmosphere was just a little off. But for a $15 fried rice I just expected a lot more and not even soy sauce saved it, it was a big portion though. My boyfriend got the kimchichanga which was interesting and was good but it oddly just tasted like a hamburger and was plated weird and was awkward and really messy to eat, but still the Korean and Mexican fusion wasn't being done justice because like I said, we both agreed it just tasted like an American cheeseburger. He drowned it in sriracha after to add some spice. It was also sort of small for $15. We're both not very picky but I don't know what happened here, it was just underwhelming for the high prices and small menu. If you have a small menu, the few things you have on there have to be good. After eating here it's hard to see how it has 4 stars. I was just left disappointed and so was my boyfriend. read more

We ordered 2 Kimchi Fried Rices with Bulogi and Spicy Pork. The location was big and had a nice ambiance to it. I won't lie I was a bit skeptical at first but after my bfs family receommended this spot we knew we had to give it a try for ourselves. To my surprise this place blew me away the bylgogi beef burrito was the bomb along with the mango salad. As you go in you order and then sit down it's in a rough neighborhood, but if you go during daylight hours it's ok. I definitely want to come back to try other items from the menu, but I'm sticking with the bulgogi beef due to the taste was amazing. I gave four stars due to the fact of the location, and the service is kind of slow if you have a line of people you have to wait your turn to order they need a another register or a different system to handle the influx of patrons. read more

I like this place. I've eaten at the old location and now the new one. I'd come again. But my signature kimchi hangs with bulgogi was just okay. It's $2 extra for this meat and there was barely meat on it. I also see the short cut in prep. The chimi is just rice and they add toppings after. I get that it makes it quick as they actually aren't preparing individual orders more of just putting toppings on a rice chimi but I felt like it was missing the cohesion of it being cooked together. Something was different with my last visit. I've been going to Kimchichanga for many years now (yes, the old location), the food has always been good, but this last time was off. It wasn't busy when I walked in, in fact, not a single person dining in, but the Kimchichanga lacked freshness. It's hard to explain, maybe it wasn't as sauced up like normal, it definitely didn't have a spicy kick. Yes, I took it to go, but it was a short distance, and it wasn't as steaming hot like I'm used to. Previous to this visit, I tried to place an order via phone, and was told it would be a 1 hr wait! I was already nearby, so I did a drive by look and it wasn't busy. So, I walked inside, placed my order and was out in less than 15 minutes! Something isn't right here, I want the old Kimchichanga back, give me some fresh food with spice, flavor and personality! I'm debating on if I am through with this restaurant, or do I give it one more try and hope to not be disappointed.
