The servers are consistently mean spirited, no smiles, inattentive service, and this is the only location where my order has been wrong on multiple occasions and I was made to feel like it was somehow my fault. This Kimmie's Coffee Cup is always super busy. It's a great place for breakfast and brunch, and service is great! Just like momma used to make. Bring a friend or bring a group, and eat a lot of American classic breakfast foods. My wife enjoyed the corn beef hash. I usually do their Classic Breakfast which consist of two eggs any way you'd like and applewood bacon or sausage links w/your choice of bread. I don't like leaving negative reviews and strive to comment on the good experiences. But I went here a couple weeks ago and was very disappointed. I've been going here for years with my family and to different locations too. All my friends worked here during their college years so there's lots of history with Kimmie's. But this one was by far worst customer service experience by far not just for this place but EVER. I would like to start off by saying when waters were brought out our server had an open cut on her finger that was bleeding. Our food comes out and I had a wrap with side of fruit, fruit was white and spoiled. So I waited for her to come around so I could request something new. Everyone was about done with their meal when she finally came around, I tried to be courteous and quiet when I mentioned the spoiled fruit so I wouldn't attract attention cause maybe just maybe it was overlooked so I didn't want to make a big deal. She literally looked at it and said "what's wrong with it" shocking. I said "it's moldy, may I have something else please" she offered me hash browns or potatoes, which doesn't make sense since wraps are offered with fruit or fries. Anyways, I say potatoes and she asks if I'd like onions and peppers and I say yes. I get back a plate of burnt potatoes with neither onions nor peppers. She had the worst attitude and energy by far. I reached out to Kimmie's in private to call it to their attention and they never reached out. But seeing as they have already bad reviews pertaining to their customer service I figured it was best I just reiterate on it. Sad the Placentia location closed but it's sad But there's nothing really worth eating here that id deal with someone's bad attitude for. I will say the Food is above average especially Pancakes.But not so worthwhile as to overcome the cold service. My issue is I have gone to Kimmies 5 times and the service is always borderline rude.. I have taken my two sons in on 4 of those occasions and it is agreed by the three of us that the servers and I assume the owners are very unfriendly. I could not buy a smile from anyone, and I tried.They did seem to be friendlier with what may have been regulars but after getting the same cold welcome and service 5x I will never return. Totally impressed with the great food and service. I have not been to Kimmie's for the longest time. Service used to be just mediocre at best. I went with a group on Saturday. Wow, have things improved. Breakfast is still very tasty, especially the biscuits, which taste homemade. In fact, they were so good, I passed on the gravy! Love the service. I arrived late to meet the group after they began their meal. Waitress apologized for not getting me a menu. I explained it was not her fault as I arrived late. Service could not be better. The ladies kept coming around to see if we needed anything. I love how all the staff are not territorialized. They all jumped in to help each other's tables. One server was walking around with a coffee pot for topping off customers cups and saw my credit card out with my bill. She quickly set down the pot and handled my bill right away so as not to keep me waiting. All the staff came off as very friendly and they enjoyed working there. I was so impressed, I took my family there the next morning and was very pleased to find the same quality food and service consistent with the previous morning. Thanks, Kimmie. Last Saturday my husband and I met a couple of friends and their two year old for breakfast at Kimmie's in Brea. The service was TERRIBLE!!! Worst service I have EVER had! The waitress who brought our coffees sloshed them down on the table right next to our friends two year old. Next, she came by with waters and literally SLAMMED them down on the table before walking off without a word. Over the course of the meal we were 'helped' by four different servers. Not ONE of them ever smiled or even tried to be friendly! I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant in my life! I was a server for 6 years and understand it can be a trying job (working with people always is). However, there is never an excuse for rudeness! Servers are in the business of customer service and it is part of their job to be friendly and polite (one of the biggest parts, in my opinion)! Needless to say, we won't be going back to Kimmie's. Okay, glad I'm not the only one to have an issue with the service here. I usually go to the Fullerton location, but I was in the area, so I stopped by. Trust me, I hate overbearing servers, the ones that never seem to leave you for more than a few bites, but I would take that over the "I can't believe you're expecting me to do my job" server. I understand, especially with everything going on and I understand if they were busy, but they weren't. Had a table inside, right by the counter. The entire time, no refills, not even the obligatory "how's your meal?" Food was good but I don't want to eat at a place where my patronage is treated like a burden. I would like to give Kimmie's a higher star rating, the food is good and would rate it about 4 stars but the service is pretty bad. I used to go to the one off of Orangethorpe in Placentia, the food was a bit better and the service was way better. When that location closed I started coming to the Brea location and boy what a difference in customer service. I've been there when it's busy and when it is not and the service is pretty much the same. The staff seems unhappy and if you ask for anything it feels like you are bothering them. Usually the younger staff is a bit friendlier but the older ones are the ones that make you feel unwelcome and afraid to ask for anything. It's sad that I try to avoid this place with pretty good food because of the customer service. I rather go to Paul's Country Kitchen or Early Bird for a much nicer experience. read more

I've been to Kimmie's before, in Fullerton and their service in not the greatest either. First off, we were never greeted. We were unsure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. No signs were posted. It took forever to get our food, what did they have to do, kill the cow in the back?? They never even came back to see how our food was or if everything was alright. I must admit that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day (at least when I am going out), and therefore I carry high standards accordingly. I have eaten at Kimmie's twice now, and both experiences were wonderful. It is nice to know that even amidst the sprawling expanse of the fullerton-brea yuppie no-mans land, there exists a tiny glimer of small town beauty. Kimmie's is an adorable spot tucked away in otherwise unattractive surroundings. A jewel amidst the perverbial muck. The aesthetic of the place can only be defined as classic, with booths and tables according to your preference and party size. I personally recommend (if you are coming as a party of two) to pick the booths by the window, Fullerton, I am glad to say, never fails to dish out some crazy to entertain an otherwise peaceful and quiet breakfast. The ladies of Kimmie's are kind but to the point, which I personally appreciate in any breakfast establishment (I want my coffee and I want it NOW). They are not there to be your best friends, but they are attentive and generious with their coffee refills, and lets be honest, what else do I need? Build your own omlette was an out of the park win, and their country potatoes are to die for (especially with a little tobascco, yum!). Round it all off with a dash of sourdough toast and a cup of joe and I am in heaven. Overall a charming establishment with great food, and reasonable prices. I thought it was just me but my other friend who was with me this time said that she's always that way, WTH. The older gal was better and the young petite was ok as well. Went here because it seemed like the perfect type of standard little diner that I could get a simple breakfast at. But it was a disaster. From our waitress who took our order and completely forgot about us (refilled our drinks once. After our awful meal was done, which she never asked about). On to the food. My eggs benedict had "poached eggs" that were completely cooked all the way through, the piece of lunchmeat Ham they threw on there was cold, but the muffins they were on were actually decent. Hashbrowns were cold. No heat to them at all. My side of sausage links followed the same pattern. Oh did I forget to tell you about the loudmouth waitress who stood behind my ear and shot the breeze with the table behind us for the entire meal? Yup that happened. Then when she took a break from that she went and yelled at the chef for ringing the "orders up" bell "too loud" in front of the entire restaurant. What an embarressment. I couldn't decide between a three or two star review. I went with the two-star because it's not A-OK, it's more like Meh. I've experienced better. Kimmie's is a cute little coffee shop, but the parking lot is usually full and Arco across the street will tow your car if you park in their lot. This place fills up fast during breakfast hours on Friday and the weekends so get there early if you want to get a table or even a parking space. My food was ok, but my boyfriend did not like his food. The service was also very slow when it didn't appear to be very crowded. We went here on a Tuesday mid-morning. There were about three other people in the restaurant, it took a long time to get our food, and the waitress was not very attentive. First time here with my husband and our baby, IHOP is usually our go to place because we get seated quickly and the service is always great! Walked in and there were a few people standing around to get seated and at about 5 minutes the hostess asks if we have signed it and I said no and she then told a waitress to get us seated in the back. I was a bit lost because it was our first time and I didn't know where the "back area" was and the waitress who was supposed to walk is to our table was distracted with another worker and were over here trying to figure out what table she was going to sit us at. After about 2 minutes of us standing looking a bit lost wondering if we should just sit anywhere she comes up to me and points at our table and hands me over the silverware....yup said here you go these are yours. I was like okay..thanks! We sit down and she asks if she can get us anything to drink & we both ask for coffee and when she arrives she literally just puts the mugs down hard and walks away. I say hard because the tables are glass and when she set them down I thought she was going to crack the table given how hard she set them down after making a loud noise. Another lady comes by with short blonde hair and asks if we are ready to order without even saying a Hi, good morning, how are you nothing! Not even a fake smile on her face. I understand it's Sunday and you ladies have to work but that's not our fault. Find another job or work for yourself if your so unhappy! We tell her what we would like to order and she just walks away without saying anything. After a good 15 minute wait our food finally comes and the plates weren't even presented to us nicely. After that no one bothered to check up on us. Both our coffees were empty, we needed extra napkins etc...I finally waive a lady down and at this Point we just want our bill..I did ask for them to refill or coffee and we didn't drink anymore. I had to ask where I go to pay the bill like I was lost. They weren't helpful and really weren't around at all. I told my husband to exit thru the back so I can pay the bill and then I took off, they got a ZERO $ tip. That is what you'll get for only bringing our plates. There was absolutely NO service here. This is my first review ever!!! Sadly it is not a good one... First, the only reason this place got more than one star from me was because the food was amazing especially the pancakes. They melted in my mouth. The service was what brought this place soo terribly low. My family got some chubby, big-breasted woman fir our server who was not necessarily mean (we got everything we wanted) but she gave off the worst vibes! And a terrible attitude. She gave us the coldest stares I have ever seen. She was very condescending. And she acted little racist towards us considering we are people of color. A white family came in the restaurant about 15 minutes after us and our waitress was all smiles and giggles. And an Asian family comes in 20 minutes after us they get the same treatment we got. I didn't read Yelp reviews until after I had eaten at Kimmie's and was surprised to see all of the negative remarks about customer service. Not that I don't believe them, but I personally had a very friendly and fast server today. She refilled our drinks right away when they were empty and came back with a smile to check if all the food was okay. We had a coupon for either a BOGO breakfast or BOGO lunch and we ordered one breakfast and one lunch item so the coupon didn't fully comply. She smiled and said it was fine which I really appreciated. First-- good coffee. Not bitter or burned. I ordered chicken fried steak with potatoes o'brien and biscuits & gravy for my bread side. Bf ordered the Reuben with potato salad. My chicken fried steak was delicious and tender; I could cut it with my fork. Eggs were fresh and the potatoes were simple but good. Not too greasy. Bf's Reuben was AMAZING-- took a bite and wished I had ordered that instead. Best pastrami I've ever had. He agreed and devoured it rapidly. Biscuits were soft and home made. Gravy was pretty plain...should have been more flavorful being house made. Potato salad was decent but desperately needed salt. I put salt in the potato salad and in the gravy. Overall: good, speedy service, reasonable prices, fresh food. Some dishes are obviously better than others, though. I think I'll go back and try the sausage everyone's talking about. My husband and I LOVE Kimmie's and come at least once a month (but usually more often than that). The food is amazing! Cinnamon roll pancakes are the best pancakes we've ever had. Biscuits and gravy are so good. The gravy is the best you can get from any brunch place I've ever been to, and we brunch a lot. Great bacon, hash browns, breakfast potatoes, eggs. I used to get the occasional overcooked egg from them, but I haven't had a single one in nearly a year now so the kitchen has stepped up their egg game. Coffee is decent with good creamer options. A lot of people in the reviews knock the service, but we personally love the no fuss, fast, and to the point service you get from most of the servers. I'm always surprised that Kimmie's gets a number of bad reviews on yelp, but they seem to mostly be from people who expect fine dining service from a diner style brunch restaurant. I saw some mentions of racism and prejudice based on skin color in reviews recently and can only laugh while reading it. I've dined here for years with family and friends of various skin colors- middle eastern, white, Asian, Hispanic, and I can assure you the service does not change based on race. The service is what it is- fast, no-nonsense, diner style service. If you need your server to ask you about your weekend plans and tell you your outfit is pretty then this probably isn't the place for you. read more

I believe in customer service and that a smile goes along way! I've been to Kimmie's in Brea all about 3 times and EVERY single time, the ladies that work there don't make an effort to be pleasant. When you walk in, expect either blank stares from the servers or no reaction at all, as if you don't exist. Just grab a seat and wait. The waitress will come up and ask what you want, etc.. once again without a smile. It really made me feel like my party and I were not welcome. I should've just got up, walked out and gone to a place where they appreciate our business. But I didn't want to be rude.. lol. As far as the food, it's decent. A very pleasant place to eat breakfast with an attentive staff and bright surroundings. We went on a Wednesday at 9 am and we could find seating easily. The decor is relaxing because it is bright and uplifting for early in the morning. My wife ordered the classic breakfast of bacon and eggs with fruit and I had the Mexican Scramble which is three scrambled eggs, sausage, chilies, jalapenos, tomatoes, and tortilla strips, with avocado and sour cream. It also comes with a choice of tortillas. My wife is always pleased when she goes somewhere that the cooks know how to prepare eggs. My scramble was tasty after my flourish with the Tabasco, but that is what I enjoy. I should have ordered additional jalapenos on the side too. We spent some time there and could see what appeared to be the regulars and quite a few families with younger children arrive. The staff was quite patient with the families and the regulars had their morning conversations. It didn't appear that anyone was rushed or uncomfortable. All in all, Kimmie's was enjoyable and I am sure we will return in the near future. It's a great throwback to a different time. read more

I was excited to try this place because of all the good reviews. Always looking for a good breakfast place near by for the weekends and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I love a good corn beef hash and had to order it.. Bad idea! It pretty much tasted like the canned stuff I have in my pantry. My eggs (sunny side up) tasted a little funky. Maybe it was just a bad egg? Hash browns were decent and the biscuit and gravy I actually enjoyed! I would have enjoyed it more if the rude-snobby-unfriendly-redhead waitress had remembered to bring it with my meal instead of when I was done with my meal. My mom suggested Kimmie's for breakfast this morning. The place was pretty packed...and it doesn't help that the whole joint is incredibly small with tables packed in like sardines. It is difficult to maneuver through. You have to get through the obstacle course to get your meal...maybe that makes the prize that much more sweet? The food was good, breakfast burrito with really yummy, freshly made salsa. My mom got a breakfast quesadilla which she thoroughly enjoyed. The service on the other hand....our particular server was not friendly. She wasn't particularly unfriendly, but not friendly, either. Very utilitarian. The rest of the staff was all very sweet and efficient. If I didn't have interaction with them, woulda been 2 stars. I was excited like a dork to successfully drop my first "you've been yelped" card. Kimmies Coffee Cup in Brea has all the makings for a potentially great breakfast joint. The warm cozy ambiance and friendliness of staff combined with the made fresh from scratch philosophy can set it way apart from the plethora of mundane chain coffee shops. Huevos rancheros had the makings of a classic breakfast experience but the canned tomato taste of the salsa was a bit disappoint as it ended up having a bit of an overpowering metallic flavor. The waffles were cooked nicely having a nice crispness on the outside. The presentation could use a bit more sprucing up. Getting one large round waffle with really nothing else just sitting on the plate is a bit disheartening to say the least. It was not much better looking than when I put an Eggo on my plate in the morning. For the price, I expected more than one waffle. The country style French toast sounded fantastic on the menu - sweet French toast rolled in oats and pecans then deep fried for a crunchy twist on traditional French Toast.. Deep frying French toast is not the way to go. Rather than producing a crunchy, fluffy masterpiece, it was a crunchy grease laden mess. All I could taste in every bite was the cooking oil. It started to make me feel nauseated so I had to stop eating it. Omelette was fluffy and up to par, albeit a bit miniscule. The highlights were the biscuits with gravy and side of bacon. Biscuits were warm and fluffy and the gravy paired well with a nice homestyle flavor - thick and creamy like good gravy should be. The bacon that they use here is one of the better quality ones as it is a bit thicker and meatier. Overall, I would have to say that their food is ok and is more or less in middle of the bell curve. But for the price they charge, I would expect something a lot better than Denny's or Carrows. I think that the bigger let down was that all of the food seemed to be prepared with little enthusiasm, not something that embodied the qualities of Kimmie herself. What's not to love? I first started coming here after reading a story on how Kimmie's became Kimmie's. A story about a young mother starting her own business with or for her daughters I don't recall exactly but I've been coming here for quite sometime since then. I've never had a breakfast here that I didn't like. Omelets, waffles and polish sausage all wonderful. Kids pancakes with chocolate chips and whip cream sprinkled on top, OK I admit I've tried those too!!! I wish they offered more specialty coffees but since I go there more for the food I can deal. The price is very reasonable. I love the decor there. Feels really homie. My husband doesn't get it. He thinks it feels crammed. But all the miss matched coffee cups and silver wear, I love it. I must admit in the beginning I didn't understand the service, especially because the reason I started going there was due to the story I read. I expected the service to be a lot friendlier, but after going a few times they have warmed up to me as a regular. The line is always long, It's rare to be seated without waiting. There's a few places in my area that are good breakfast spots. One of them is run by wild and angry Viking men that listen to Black Metal. Another is called Kimmie's Coffee Cup. I much prefer that one. These ladies, while nice to look at, are all trained waitresses who use Krav Maga to serve food and kick some ass. Their food is good and you get a good portion, too. The banana pancakes are freakin' awesome. The restaurant looks like your grandmother's kitchen... Yellow walls, old dishes that are mismatched and the smell of mothballs and boiled cabbage... I have been a steady customer of Kimmie's Coffee Cup for years, and their formula is simple: Consistently excellent food, freshly prepared, and served in an inviting atmosphere. The service is exceptional, both friendly and attentive. The fact that the staff is easy on the eyes is simply a bonus!! So I came to Kimmie's with no expectations but after reading reviews on yelp of their excellent food, I was kind of excited. This place is small. The service is fast when it comes to taking orders however, the food was not worth the price since I can make food better at home. I ordered the Pork Chorizo & Eggs and honestly there was nothing special about it. When I ate my potatoes it came with as a side order, some of the potatoes were either burned with char or some were slightly at a cold warm temperature. PERSONALLY I like my food piping hot. The tortillas were packaged of course and when they made them warm by toasting them on the stove, i found it to be unappealing since one side was slightly burned. They then asked me if I wanted Tabasco or salsa so I said Salsa and they came out with salsa that didn't even look fresh at all and that tasted awful. I LOVE salsa but this had to be some bad tasting stuff, at least for me... I think El Pollo Loco has better salsa than this place. You would think that what looks like packaged salsa would be delicious, but I guess not. When my friend ordered biscuits and gravy I wanted to give it a try because I knew I wanted to do a review and wanted to get in as much food as possible, and the gravy was gross. It had no authentic taste and it was bland and was thick because I guess it wasn't heated all the way through. The biscuits were okay I must admit but the outer edges were WAY TOO covered in excess flour that it left my fingers kind of powdery as well as my lips. But the main reason even though the food was low quality that deserved this rating was the fact that in my chorizo which was scrambled with 2 eggs, I bit into multiple amounts of egg shells... I know that the place was busy and crowded but I think the cooks could be at least more careful when cracking their eggs. Great place for breakfast AND lunch. Everything is delicious, the cooks do a fantastic job!!! Its a hidden place just south of downtown Brea and its very seasonally decorated. 3 stars only because the staff is not personable at ALL. They don't say hello when you walk in, they barely make eye contact with you after you order, and they dont say Bye when you leave. We have been here several times and I don't recall a Thank You ever being said. There is a notebook to sign in-but if you have never been here before you wouldn't know it and they don't tell you about it either. Kimmie's is most definitely my favorite place to grab breakfast. The decor is cute and homey. I feel that having the mismatched plates and coffee cups adds a great touch. The service her is great. Everyone is greeted when they walk in, and are thanked and wished a good day on the walk out. The waitresses are friendly and helpful. They are quick to spot needed refills and are always courteous and ask how your meal is. The food is absolutely amazing. It reminds you of home and comfort of your favorite blanket. The portions are large and filling. Every time I go to eat there, I find myself trying to eat the whole dish, but end up having to call it quits due to be so full. My favorite breakfast there is the Country Benedict. It is an english muffin, topped with their homemade (and extremely delicious) sausage patty, eggs, and country gravy. It also comes with a choice of hash browns, potatoes, or fruit. I usually go with the fruit, simply because anything else would be too much to eat. They also have great oatmeal. This may seem a surprising thing, but if you are craving a breakfast on the lighter side I highly recommend their oatmeal. Their lunch menu is also good. It is filled with both hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and salads. A few of my favorite things for lunch are the tuna melt, the garlic chicken wrap, and the Dijon Chicken Breast Sandwich. read more

I want to love this place. The line out in front tells me that it is a great breakfast joint. But the service has not been good on the multiple Friday mornings we have gone in (I wouldn't get near this place on a Saturday or Sunday morning) and the seating is tight. Now they get two stars because *some* of the food is good. Specifically, the "handmade sausage patty" is great. However, the skillets lack enough meat to be worth the price and the omelettes are consistently a fail (they completely forgot to put in my avocado last week and the side dish of avocado they brought me was not quite ripe). I've been waiting and waiting to try a cinnamon roll, but unfortunately they are always sold out. read more

First of all the food is magnificent! I have had over half of the food items on the menu, and I have left very satisfied every time......with that being said, I wish the owner would realize with all the negative comments concerning customer service? Something would change? There should be a line out the door to this place! But usually you only have a 5 to 10 minute wait.. at peek! Its not the rudeness, that frustrates me? Its the lack of care and want to do right by the customers. Everytime I go eat there (if not for the food this review would be negative stars), I feel like I'm imposing on the wait staff. I thought the goal is to welcome and keep customers? Hint: Sit at the counter, because that's where the wait staff congregates. Might be my favorite breakfast place. It's a compact place, which I tend to like. I've been coming for the past year and a half, and have to say the staff are very personable and hard working. I've never had a negative experience here, or a bad meal. I would highly recommend Kimmie's to anyone. I find the negative reviews very hard to believe. read more

Came here once a few years ago since it's next to my grandmothers house and had the same great experience we did the first time. Food is delicious and the environment is really cute. Our server she seemed like she'd do better working at a bar with her type of personality. Not typically a bad thing but for a breakfast spot where it should be more relaxed, it was definitely more burn and turn feeling. Anytime I'm in the mood for a gluttonous, keep you full until 3 pm or later breakfast, Kimmie's is the place I turn to. I wouldn't necessarily say that customer service is their specialty, but I'm usually too distracted by the adorable "classic diner" ambiance and/or my hunger to really notice. I've come at times when they are super busy and the waitresses manage to stay efficient so that's an a-okay from me. The food has never really disappointed me. Generous portions no matter what you order and cooked to order. I've had several of their breakfasts and my favorite is the Irish benedict. Corned beef atop an English muffin with hollandaise sauce --yummyy! Surprisingly, though, I'm not as big of a fan of the corned beef plate itself. My bf claims because it has more of a mush texture and is missing that crisp top layer. I'm also a fan of their hash browns and pancakes. If you don't get the Irish benedict, I'd suggest the country fried steak or the patty with eggs (wait, I did mention these are heavy plates, right?). read more

Every breakfast place is so packed in the the Tri-City area (Brea, Fullerton, Placentia) Anyway, we had a 20+ minute wait, and it was brunch hour. The setting is entirely different than the one towards Downtown Fullerton - that's forsure. The building is more industrial, but it's decorated so cute that you cannot tell much. The layout is small, or so it seems, but actually there is another side to the restaurant on your right hand side when you enter. They have a variety of seating arrangements from tables to booths, to the "bar" seating. The service seem quite short staffed the Saturday we went for some odd reason. I am not sure if it was typically a few women on the floor, but it looks disorganized because we didn't know who to report to when we wanted to get a table.. The menu is easy to read. Divided by what type of main serving you want. I thought it was very interesting they had a whole section for Mexican/South of the Border brunch dishes. I had the Juevos Ranchos for the first time, ever! I don't recommend having the potatoes meshed with the bell peppers and onions - the flavors are too much. But my dish was so delicious! I was so happy with it. I didn't know what to expect and it was a bunch of exotic flavors. Not to mention tortillas that came with it and totally vegetarian! Yay! read more
