I have been here about 4 times. Food is good but the service not so much. EVERY TIME! The servers have smug attitudes, especially the younger ones. This morning, the young blonde server called out "Bob party of 2" and then just points to a table and said "over there". Someone had just got up from the bar so I asked if I can sit there, the same server said yes and told me to sit but I had to ask her to clean the table first. No one smiles, no one welcomes people when they come in. I realize it gets busy but no excuse. I used to be a server in restaurant and hotel so I know guest service. You would think after the COVID shut down that they would be grateful to be back at work and welcoming to patrons. I don't know what it is about the ladies that work here but they have no sense of customer service skills. I came here with a friend who was told about this place through another friend... We walked in and waited at the door. The older waitress who was running around didn't even acknowledge us. She just kind of looked at us. We assumed that meant take a seat, so we did. She came over to take our drink orders but in a very rushed, inconsiderate manner. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because it was slightly busy. As we waited, a younger waitress came over to the booth directly in back of me and asked the older waitress if the customer at that table was all done. The older waitress snapped and said "I don't know So-and-So" (I cant remember the name she said). We were abandoned by the older waitress and finally the younger one came over to us with drink slammed the water down and said she couldn't carry my orange juice at the same time. I again ignored it. She then came back and took our orders. When our food came, I very politely asked for ketchup and the younger waitress said she'd bring it. She never came back with it... she took an order to another table along with ketchup but then just walked back behind the counter. I asked my friend to please go ask for the ketchup because i was beginning to get a bit frustrated. She brought it over and just put it on the table. I noticed that she would go around to other tables and ask if everything was ok but never once came over to ask us the same nor refill our water. I was extremely offended. The food was good but not great. The decor was nice...but potential goes out the window when service is terrible. Honestly, don't waste your money at this place... The only thing that changes about Kimmie's Coffee Shop is the assortment of themes depending on the holiday or time of year. The place gets decked out and the waitresses all wear the same color scheme. It's old fashioned in a good way and cute, and creates a casual and fun environment. The great service, delicious food, and perfect coffee always stays the same. It's always made sure your coffee cup is always full. I've had their corn beef hash, omelettes, waffles, and eggs Benedict. They're all hearty and tastes homemade. Portions are big, it's a breakfast for champs. OH MY GOSH!!! I will NEVER EVER EVER be returning to this place AGAIN!!! Where do I even begin???? Ok, so my mom and I went here to get some brunch after an early morning doctor's appointment. We were looking for some quiet time and some good eats. I had been here once before and that time was mediocre as well (in regards to service) but the food was ok, so we returned. It was the day before Thanksgiving and it was pretty crowded. Both of us had about an hour before we needed to leave to our next commitments. Because of this time restraint, we sat at the bar instead of waiting for a table. The bar was very uncomfortable as the chairs were too far away from the counter and our feet were dangling because there was no where to put them. So after we placed our order (after having to flag down a server who passed us up 3 times) we switched to a table. NONE of the servers had smiles on their faces and just all looked PISSED to be there! So we waited for 30 minutes for our food and nothing came. Now 30 minutes in "diner" time is a LONG time since diners are really supposed to pump ppl in and out. After waiting, we flagged down another server and asked her to check on our order. She was unapologetic and NEVER followed up with us. We could see the tables around us being sat and waited on which made us a bit angry. I was urging my mother to leave but she wanted to stay because she needed to eat anyway. After we waited another 15 minutes (45 minutes of total wait time since ordering) we asked the same server to check on our food and she stated that "it'll be here in a minute". We told her that we had been waiting 45 minutes and she would not give us the time of day. Now, I don't like to play the race card, but it was starting to pop into my mind. After a full HOUR had gone by, my mother went up to the counter and stated that we needed to order to go since we needed to leave. When our food still hadn't come out 15 minutes after that, we were both standing at the counter aggravated. NO ONE would talk to us and when a THIRD server finally asked us if we had been helped, my mother began to tell her what had happened. This server had the AUDACITY to smirk at my mother and repeat what she was saying in her broken English making fun of her!! I totally called her out and was sooooo pissed!!!!! The server just responded, "Well I'm trying to figure out what she's saying" when I had told her again what was happening. It was at that point the owner stepped in (FINALLY) and apologized profusely for the service, but the damage had already been done. She said that she was understaffed which is her bad the day before thanksgiving but if this is the case, train your staff to be friendly and apologetic for the wait times!! The owner offered the food to us free of charge (it was the least she could do) and when we took it out to finally eat our food we had been waiting for, our cold food (fresh fruit) was mixed in with our hot food (eggs benedict/omellete) which made it disgusting!! The worst service ever. A lady I walked in with has ordered her food, eaten it and I'm still waiting to have my order taken. Finally a waitress asked if I'm waiting and I said "I'm still waiting for my order to be taken" she laughed and said "still waiting" then walked away. Only thing is I forgot how un-interested the waitresses seem and I think they are a bit overpriced, I mean 1.50 for a few slices of bananas on your oatmeal, really?? I don't like leaving negative reviews and strive to comment on the good experiences. But I went here a couple weeks ago and was very disappointed. I've been going here for years with my family and to different locations too. All my friends worked here during their college years so there's lots of history with Kimmie's. But this one was by far worst customer service experience by far not just for this place but EVER. I would like to start off by saying when waters were brought out our server had an open cut on her finger that was bleeding. Our food comes out and I had a wrap with side of fruit, fruit was white and spoiled. So I waited for her to come around so I could request something new. Everyone was about done with their meal when she finally came around, I tried to be courteous and quiet when I mentioned the spoiled fruit so I wouldn't attract attention cause maybe just maybe it was overlooked so I didn't want to make a big deal. She literally looked at it and said "what's wrong with it" shocking. I said "it's moldy, may I have something else please" she offered me hash browns or potatoes, which doesn't make sense since wraps are offered with fruit or fries. Anyways, I say potatoes and she asks if I'd like onions and peppers and I say yes. I get back a plate of burnt potatoes with neither onions nor peppers. She had the worst attitude and energy by far. I reached out to Kimmie's in private to call it to their attention and they never reached out. But seeing as they have already bad reviews pertaining to their customer service I figured it was best I just reiterate on it. Sad the Placentia location closed but it's sad But there's nothing really worth eating here that id deal with someone's bad attitude for. Since my first visit I have been back a few times. The food is constantly good but...really nothing spectacular or warranting them those 4 stars I gave them the initially. I must've gotten laid that morning ... the service is lacking! With your food they give you the check & that is the last you see them. My orange juice was empty for over half of my meal and my waitress didn't even stop by for me to request another. Yes it's busy, but that is no reason so not check on your customers. Totally impressed with the great food and service. I have not been to Kimmie's for the longest time. Service used to be just mediocre at best. I went with a group on Saturday. Wow, have things improved. Breakfast is still very tasty, especially the biscuits, which taste homemade. In fact, they were so good, I passed on the gravy! Love the service. I arrived late to meet the group after they began their meal. Waitress apologized for not getting me a menu. I explained it was not her fault as I arrived late. Service could not be better. The ladies kept coming around to see if we needed anything. I love how all the staff are not territorialized. They all jumped in to help each other's tables. One server was walking around with a coffee pot for topping off customers cups and saw my credit card out with my bill. She quickly set down the pot and handled my bill right away so as not to keep me waiting. All the staff came off as very friendly and they enjoyed working there. I was so impressed, I took my family there the next morning and was very pleased to find the same quality food and service consistent with the previous morning. Thanks, Kimmie. My Husband, 2 year old Daughter & I met a few friends at Kimmie's last Sunday for breakfast & sadly had the WORST service I have ever experienced!! We were sat in a booth & I kindly asked if they could bring me a chair so that I could be a bit more comfortable (I'm 8 months pregnant) & so that I could sit closer to my Daughter. The girl gave me a discussed look, glanced over her shoulder & said "there aren't any". When our drinks arrived (piping hot coffee) the server slammed it down right in front of my Daughter without a word or second glance. Luckily, I placed my hand in front of her to block it from splashing her. We had interactions with four different people who were equally as rude as the next. I know dealing with the public is difficult & cannot imagine how hard it is to be a server but there is never an excuse for being outright rude to polite customers. Not one of the four ladies so much as cracked a smile, said thank you or even acted pleasant. It was quite clear that my business was unwanted & I am happy to oblige. I will NEVER go back to Kimmie's in Brea! FYI: The Fullerton location is AMAZING! It is a much smaller diner & there is usually a wait but it is worth it. Me and my mom go to Kimmie's for breakfast all the time (the Fullerton location off commonwealth) not once have we ever complained. Service was great and food was always on point. We love the ambiance and homecooked feel. However we started going to the Brea location because it was closer and to say the service sucked would be an understatement. The servers there are absolutely rude, have no personality, and make you feel like why the heck are you here. The food was ok but definitely not good enough to be treated the way people are treated in there. TL;DR : bad service - red headed woman I noticed this is the kind of local/family spot where a handful of servers are running the entire floor and everyone works to serve you, which is awesome. Love the idea of teamwork- I'm a server trainer for a corporate restaurant chain so I pick up on these things. It was Sunday morning round 11:30, so the breakfast rush was winding down and I saw open tables. I figured there wouldn't be the most pressing need to turn and burn your tables because it wasn't busy. In other words I can sit down and work on homework for a bit and order a big breakfast in the process; unfortunately, that was not the case during my first time visit. I sat down in a booth started with OJ and a fruit bowl (which was good), and after making some progress on my homework I decided on the country french toast, but I wasn't sure how the '"combo" system worked here- where you get your eggs and bacon in addition to your chosen syrup-covered carbohydrate. The option was not listed on the menu (which I actually read, not enough people do that), so I was hoping to be asked for a combo- you ask me I'm happy. I'll order more after that. The eldest of the waitresses took my order, a tall woman with red hair. Waitress:"Ready?"" Me: "Yes, can I have the country french toast please." Waitress: "Is that it?" Me: "Yes." The way she asked "is that it?" was very short and I immediately perceived as rude. Forget my eggs and bacon at this point. I no longer feel compelled to spend more money here because I just want to leave and write this Yelp Review. I found her attitude to be that off-putting. The country french toast is great by the way. I would like to know what I as a customer did to warrant such treatment? I think it was the fact I was working on homework. I don't like campers at my job either, but I just deal with it and don't let it bother me. This woman was apparently very disturbed and effective in achieving her goal- I got the hell out. I talked to my family, friends and co-workers about this experience and a few people among them heard or even experienced the unfriendly service of this one particular employee. I understand that it's hard to do one's job with grace in the face of adversity I'm a server too. Yet I perceived no struggle. The restaurant is small I could see if some calamity was taking place, or if the girls were running around like crazy in the middle of a rush. Neither of these things were happening, and absent any other evidence of stress I do not think the way I was treated was justified. I apologize for the one-star review and know what that can do for your reputation as a whole, but a 2 or 3 won't get the necessary attention. To top it off, the waitress with short blonde hair was really rude and standoffish. The food was mediocre at best. Trust me, I hate overbearing servers, the ones that never seem to leave you for more than a few bites, but I would take that over the "I can't believe you're expecting me to do my job" server. I used to go to the one off of Orangethorpe in Placentia, the food was a bit better and the service was way better. When that location closed I started coming to the Brea location and boy what a difference in customer service. I've been there when it's busy and when it is not and the service is pretty much the same. The staff seems unhappy and if you ask for anything it feels like you are bothering them. Usually the younger staff is a bit friendlier but the older ones are the ones that make you feel unwelcome and afraid to ask for anything. It's sad that I try to avoid this place with pretty good food because of the customer service. I rather go to Paul's Country Kitchen or Early Bird for a much nicer experience. read more

She was too busy talking to the guy sitting at the counter... I think we waited a full 10 mins after she dropped off coffee before coming back. Love the food, but the service is horrendous. Usually can not place a phone order because no one answers or if they do you are put on hold and forgotten. Multiple times to go orders are incorrect or incomplete. Last week two orders of biscuits as well as tortillas were missing from our to go order. If you enjoy Kimmies, recommend driving to the Fullerton or Cypress location. The customer service is great in Fullerton, Lynn alone makes it worth going. Another lady comes by with short blonde hair and asks if we are ready to order without even saying a Hi, good morning, how are you nothing! Not even a fake smile on her face. I understand it's Sunday and you ladies have to work but that's not our fault. Find another job or work for yourself if your so unhappy! We tell her what we would like to order and she just walks away without saying anything. After a good 15 minute wait our food finally comes and the plates weren't even presented to us nicely. After that no one bothered to check up on us. I read some conflicting reviews on Yelp so I decided to try it out for myself. I literally live right down the street so it wasn't much of a trek for me. It was a busy Sunday morning. The place was full of customers but a waitress quickly acknowledged our party with a smile and sat us down at a table. Our food arrived hot & delicious. I ordered a country breakfast with biscuits & gravy with sausage. I tried my best to finish it all but I couldn't. It was good and I left with a extra full tummy. The service was quick but pretty friendly. I like how the waitresses wear cute little matching aprons. Kimmie's has a very homey and comfortable feel to it. Like a true coffee shop. My only gripe is that this place is pretty small and can feel a little cramped depending on where you're seated. Maybe ask for a booth if you can. We left satisfied. I'd definitely like to come back to try their specialty pancakes or french toast. read more
