I was very impressed with this buffet; and I've been to more than I can count. We went here for dinner time, around 7pm. The food was always fresh every time I went for a new plate. I think the food is tasty and fresh because they don't cook a large amount. That way they are consistently filled after the last piece or scoop is taken. Great selection of Chinese food. The quality of sushi was also very impressive. It was fresh and I enjoyed it. Even if I had nothing else, I would have had more than enough options of sushi to choose from. Service was good. What is there to say about places like this? There's a cafeteria vibe and it's a great bang for your buck. Most people are here for the crab legs. The "Mongolian bbq" style element is a nice bonus. My waiter served my table a room temperature water, when asked for refill, he came back with hot tap water. After a while I asked for ice water, and he came back with a slightly cold water. Darn it! I can even hear the ice from the fountain machine next to my table. But he was kind and smile all the time. Perhaps, I was talking with the crab legs hanging out from my mouth and he couldn't understand what I asked for. So I need to add one more star for his cheerfulness. I would like to start off by stating that I haven't been to this location for at least a couple of years... The last time I came, it wasn't that great. My family wanted to come out to this buffet today because they said the buffet had improved. I decided to give the buffet another shot. I will definitely say that the buffet has improved since the last time that I came here. The food was overall better. The only complaints I have were the orange chicken and chow mein were very bland. Here is where I thought the buffet could improve: 1. When we were escorted to our table, there were napkins, food, and trash under our table. 2. The employees are not the friendliest. There were a lot of employees that were glued to their phones. Very few employees were smiling. It didn't give a welcoming vibe. 3. There were a lot of food stations in which they had one tong for several items. This was annoying especially at the sushi bar. I used the same tongs for multiple rolls of sushi. Went today for my aunt's birthday, it was everyone's first time. I definitely think this is going to be my last time there. All the food was oily and was just your typical low budget chinese buffet. The only positive thing about this place is that the building is new and clean. There is a wide selection of oily food. There's a sign that states they will charge you extra if you eat there longer than 90 minutes... So let me recap, it's crappy food that you have to eat in less than 90 minutes. I was so surprised to see a long line of waiting customers as we left this place, if only the people knew of better quality buffets. Oh and be advised that you will have a rather intimate meal since the seats are SOOO close to each other. I generally don't do AYCE buffets unless I'm in Vegas, but my friends invited me here for lunch. As far as Asian buffets go, it's decent. Like any buffet, there are definitely hits and misses. I'm pretty good now at spotting the hidden gems. Just trust your instincts. If it looks like it's been sitting there for awhile, don't try it. If you see something constantly getting refilled, it's probably one of the better items. Only commit to super-small portions until you've tried it and know you like it. The biggest surprise was the sushi. Usually horrible at these places. I know they defrost the fish, but the pieces I had were not bad at all. I also liked the cocktail shrimp (also probably defrosted). I thought the service was just fine. Our plates were cleared away and our drinks refilled. I like their pricing structure which maxes out at $13/person on the weekend. If you're a kid between 2-10 years old, it's only $0.70 - $1.20 per year. I hate it when places treat all kids the same. This place knows that a 2 year-old doesn't eat nearly as much as a 10 year-old. This buffet also lets you take food to-go, which they charge by the pound! Me and my family was eating and talking on time, was 9:15 and it's says that the buffet closed at 9:30 but the waiters were standing behind us like statues looking at us like saying "get out of here" being disrespectful, taking our things of our table and we was still eating. After the baby's baptism, we all drove to King Buffet for a small get together and lunch. This is a typical chinese buffet with sushi items. Though, I did not touch any sushi items since Earl mentioned that they are ok. I passed on that and ate baby clams, which were decent. All items tasted like how it should, yippee. There are buffet items that were labeled incorrectly, but we could tell what they were. There was a woman that grabbed a whole plate of crawfish so I grabbed some as well, thinking that it must be decent. Upon pulling the tail off from it, it looked like they were previously frozen. Some food was piping hot and some lukewarm, but it's a pretty affordable buffet so that is expected. They had a great selection of proteins all around and a great Mongolian section in the back! I mostly stick to eating the animal proteins and veggies so this was a great spot for an omad! I don't do sushi/desert so can't speak for that, but the ice cream definitely looked bomb! Not so bad for the price. There is literally no decent Chinese style Seafood Buffets in Central LA area so I go this one pretty often. What they need to improve is they need to refill/make foods more often on busy nights. Some dish never got refilled when I went there. Since they raised the price and got more popular over time, King Buffet has to offer better and faster overall service. Don't try to save money on those when you are in food business. Food quality is OK for the buffet but sometimes it's way too salty or bland or it seems below average looking. Plus, it's a restaurant. They need to clean the tables, chairs, serving area more often since the halls and dining area is huge with lots of people dine in! Gotta change the tongs and big scooping spoons often to cleaned ones. I do see some people got food poisoning after dine in here. And that is not acceptable!
