I've driven by a bazillion times wondering what lies inside this magical Asian buffet. I haven't been to a buffet in ages!. Everything is well organized and well laid out with plenty of food options. Food ranges from sushi to deep fried Chinese food like orange chicken to crab legs to salads and fruits. The main issue is everything is just okay. It's not as tasty as Panda Express but way more expensive which my mind simply cannot rationalize. I know it's the nature of the beast of buffets but it just is not my vibe anymore these days. We paid $84 + $10 tip for 2 people at lunch on a Sunday and I ate 1 plate. We were pretty surprised at how expensive it was actually. I just don't eat massive amounts like when I was younger so it's definitely not worth it for me, plus no leftovers. Conversely, they charge if you can't finish your food. Ugh! A year ago this place was much better. They charge $27 for the most basic selection of food. When it says $22 for lunch special? I would rather go to a hole in the wall Chinese spot and get the combo and pay $12 for beef and broccoli than this spot. The only thing decent was the sushi but it's mostly California roll. So I went to the Kings buffet recently located in Western. The service was good. We got sat pretty fast and the food was a decent price very much affordable we went with the group. We were able to all sit together and there are tons of options. Also, I wish they would've had games on. It would've definitely added to the vibe. It had nice lighting and little background music but if they would've had some of the basketball games on, it would've definitely helped the experience. So because I tried so many different things I wanna talk about the stand out the shrimp there really really good and there's fried shrimp there's baked shrimp. There's all different kinds of it. All good really good. The orange chicken was actually pretty solid. Nice flavor nice texture good consistency. The crab was good, but there wasn't a way to crack it so you have to crack it yourself and it was so freaking difficult. And the salmon was some of it was good went back for seconds wasn't as good as the first time like it's a buffet so there's expected to be inconsistencies. The desserts were OK. I enjoyed the ice cream tons of different flavors but the baked goods I wish there was brownies. For the most part, I liked this spot for the variety of dishes and the unexpected cleanliness at an Asian buffet! There is everything from broccoli beef , short ribs to soft shell crab which was my favorite and pizza for the kiddos. There is a coffee machine , a milk tea machine and i swear it's Thrifty Ice cream for self serve and a chocolate fountain ! Definitely family friendly. I had family visiting from out of town, so we went to Hollywood and Highland to look at the Hollywood stars. After that, everyone was hungry, and my uncle wanted to eat at a buffet, so he suggested this place. We walked in, and once we paid, they asked what we wanted to drink, and we went to find a table. The place is pretty big with enough tables for larger groups, but you can't move the tables, so we had to sit at different tables to fit everyone. The buffet is like any other buffet where you grab a plate and serve yourself. They had a lot of seafood items, including sushi. I didn't get to try the sushi because I was super full, but my sister said the sushi was pretty good considering it was a buffet. The rest of the buffet includes Chinese food and a Mongolian BBQ station where they prepare the food for you. They also had a boba drink station, which was pretty cool! The chocolate fountain was also a hit with all the kids! The food that I tried was pretty good, and it tasted fresh. Now for the service. Unfortunately, the service was just okay. For some reason, when I asked for extra utensils, the waitress seemed bothered and said I should have some on my table, but I didn't, so she brought out 5 forks, and I only needed one. Also, one of the other waiters didn't seem friendly at all and was almost upset when I asked him for my son's drink. I love King Buffet. It is a bit far for me although totally worth it. I have to make time to eat there. I think there is a 2 hour limit. The lunch all you can eat ends at 3:44 p.m. Dinner price starts at 3:45 p.m. on the nose. Tip is included and soda is extra priced cheaply though. They have Thai ice tea, hot chocolate, coffee, bobba tea balls by the stir fry area. I love the Shrimp & Pork balls. I pretty much love all the food. They have a lot of vegetables in the stir-fry section. I get the senior discount too for lunch. It is around the Home Depot store around the bend. I've left six reviews in the past and I have to say that this place gets better and better! It never fails to deliver. I cannot believe their rating is what it is, as we find this restaurant to be an amazing entity. Now they are including boba drinks in the normal meal tab; now how terrific is that - and of course, a wide range of coffee choices are also included. As ever, the shear range of choices is mind-blowing. FYI: we start with sushi dishes and graduate to hot dumplings, fish and other hot dishes. Whenever I visit K-town, I try to go back to this buffet place. The lunch price went up $24-$28 (automatically includes a refillable drink). They've been having issues with people leaving without paying, so you must pay before you get a table. This place is enormous. Parking is FREE! They have a decent selection of food and a fresh grill option in the back. Service is quick. Workers always walk around to remove plates when you are done or refill drinks. Came in for lunch for the Lunar New Year and ate a ton of great food. My favorites from the buffet were definitely the hot & sour soup (amazing!), the sautéed mushrooms, and the sushi, which tasted pretty fresh to me. But the cherry on top was the Mongolian grill!! Next time I know to put even more on my plate because it was absolutely amazing. I wish I took pictures but the second I sat down at my table I immediately started to eat. I went into the restaurant right when it opened, and the bowl holding the kimchi had old kimchi juice stains dried along the rim, making it look dirty and unclean. It seemed like they had left leftover kimchi from the previous day sitting there without even covering it. Even after some time passed, they didn't bring out fresh kimchi or replace it with a clean bowl. Since kimchi is a side dish that's often eaten in large amounts, you can tell a lot about a restaurant's cleanliness just by looking at the condition of the kimchi container. The food was completely bland, lacking any flavor whatsoever. On top of that, the entire place felt unsanitary--so much so that I was actually afraid to eat the food. There were not enough utensils or tongs at the buffet, leading to clear cross-contamination between different dishes. The floors were a mess, covered in food, napkins, and chopstick wrappers, yet the staff made no effort to clean up. It was obvious that cleanliness is not a priority here. Given the poor food quality and unsanitary conditions, I would never come back and definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The food is obviously the main factor people come here, but King Buffets' shortfall is their equipment. I want to say that 95% of the food in the warmers were cold...not even lukewarm. By the pictures, the food looks appetizing, but once you scoop it on your plate, the food is as cold as the plate. The only, ONLY hot items were the salt & pepper crabs, when they brought out a new batch, the noodle bar and grilled meats. So until they fix that problem, don't expect much because the "heat lamps" don't keep the food hot. Service was lackluster and they did the very minimum of clearing your plate and refilling your water cup. I will say that the bathrooms were extremely clean, especially for a busy buffet. Went on a Sunday night, price was 30.99 with a 10% discount for seniors. They add a 10% surcharge but indicate tipping is not required. The food was very good, they had the typical Mongolian grill and also a grilling station with Korean style short ribs, (worth the price of admission) all the usual buffet dishes were there. The chicken feet were a surprise but were done just like in a traditional dim sum place, surprisingly good. Mochi ice cream balls for dessert, save room for these babies.
