This is one of the better buffets in town in my opinion. We walk in to fluorescent blue lighting, calm atmosphere, greeted and sat right away. As usual I tried a little bit of everything. The dim sum bar was my favorite especially the honeycomb tripe. I loved it so much that I got some to-go. There was an abundance of ceab legs and seafood boil. Another favorite is the jalapeño chicken which was crispy. There was a chocolate fountain that seemed to be kept clean. There are no complaints here, this may be my new go to buffet. read more

2nd location & it bites (in a good way!) Compared to the first one, this place is so much CLEANER without the murky old-fashioned smell. One other main difference between this location and the one on Bandera is that you don't pre-pay for your buffet here. As for the food, 8/10. We went on a Friday night, so definitely a bit more seafood was present BUT no steamed crab legs :( Actually, outside of salt and pepper soft shell crabs, no crab was found. We stopped by here during a San Antonio trip after looking for some high rated Chinese buffets in the area. The food was actually very good for what I usually call a "generic Chinese buffet". I would've probably given 5 stars if it wasn't for one thing that turned me off: they have signs at every table offering discounts for good reviews. I don't want to be bribed for my review, and it probably led to some inflation in their high google score too. That being said, the service was fine, and the interior was spacious and fancy for a Chinese buffet. They had a hibachi station as well which always earns bonus points from me. They also had a dim sum line in the back, but it was almost all empty and didn't get refilled while we were there. The fare is what you would expect for a Chinese buffet, all the classics like lo mein and general tso's chicken that every place has. While it wasn't mind-blowing quality, it was above the bar for all you can eat, beating out most Chinese buffets I've tried. read more

A surprisingly good experience. I am often a bit skeptical of buffets but this one was amazing. The food variety is spectacular. They had a large selection of fried items, standard Chinese foods, dumplings, dim sum, fresh sushi, sweets, and even a ramen bar. Everything was very flavorful and fresh. I noticed the food trays were being consistently rotated and refilled with fresh food. The sushi was surprisingly good quality and very fresh for being in a buffet. The sushi selection was refilled multiple times. If an option you wanted is empty, just wait a few minutes and the quick sushi chefs would have it refilled. The crawfish was especially good! The sauce they were in was so flavorful and delicious. On our Labor Day visit, we had the pleasant surprise of all you can eat crab legs! For the amount of different dishes and seafood, for $18.99, this place is an incredible deal. King Buffet is very modern and luxe in design. Everything is very clean and organized. None of the food in one tray was contaminating or spilling over into the trays next to them. I appreciate that throughout the buffet line, they provided extra utensils, plastic gloves, sauces, and small cups for the sauces. It made the experience feel much more organized and definitely cleaner. Our waitress was very kind and quick. Refills were frequent and our plates were cleared as soon as we were finished with them. Decided to try Kings Buffet since it's closer to us. From outside I really did not expect what it looked like inside. The interior is beautiful, bright, very chic.. honestly one of the prettiest restaurants I've ever seen. Not just that but clean. There were workers walking around constantly cleaning, wiping near the Buffett areas, sweeping... very well kept. Great variety of food. Sushi, dim sum, salad bar, soups, fried food, cocktail shrimp, hibachi, even an ice cream machine. Lunch is 13.99$ for adults during lunch. Excellent price. I am more of a seafood person so I did miss the hot Cajun peel and eat shrimp I normally get at the other Buffett we go too... but I didn't have lack of choices. Probably my fave buffet so far. Super cheap, lots of food selection and really great that they have huge selection of asian dishes. They could probably make the crab leg station have more heat. I'll start by saying the restaurant did refund one buffet (not including taxes or the drink). My wife and I ate here and overall, the food was okay, but on my last plate I noticed something that looked like a worm in my beef and broccoli. After taking a closer look, it appeared to be some type of insect, possibly a larva. I brought it to the staff's attention and the manager addressed it, but it was still an unpleasant experience. Situations like that make it difficult to feel comfortable eating there again, so I don't think I'll be returning. read more

This was a great experience. What a very organized and bountiful buffet ! You arrive, check in, and they give you a number and you sit waiting for a booth or table to open. Then they call your number, guide you to your table, take your drink order and : Go! They have islands organized with the different types of cuisines, far back they have some dim sun, up front the sushi, to the front and right the Mongolian bbq where you choose your meats etc, there a table of desserts, fruits, fried foods, seafoods, there's crab legs, there's everything! The drinks are brought to your table and every time a plate is left to the side it is promptly picked up leaving your space free to reload from the bountiful buffet. Food wise the food was of good quality, it is a buffet, but I felt everything was tasty and fresh. There's so many people that I don't see how it would not be fresh!! And the price is good: you can see many people just going for the shrimp and crab legs and done! lol. We had a sushi craving, and I particularly liked that the rolls were small, so we could taste more, and actually there was a nice variety there! So overall an excellent experience for a Chinese Buffet! I wish I had taken pictures because the food here was actually way better than I expected from a cheap buffet. I was pleasantly surprised by everything because I was just wanting some cheap variety and was okay with mediocre flavors. The stir fried noodles were perfectly seasoned and not too salty. They are generous with fillings for their food and sushi also wasn't too bad. The best part though was the crawfish. Their crawfish had garlic butter seasoning which is different than the usual cajun boil style. It had a hint of sweetness (tasted like honey more than sugar) and the classic orange taste to it. There were boiled potatoes, mussels, corn, sausage, etc. mixed into the crawfish and it soaked the flavor nicely. The place was bright, spacious and even though there was a lot of tables, the servers were on top of it. Bringing out our check as soon as we were eating dessert without us needing to ask. The family & I decided on this restaurant after coming across TikTok video raving about it. After visiting, I can definitely say that the video we had seen, had to have been a paid advertisement. Initially, the restaurant is pleasing to the eye but once you make your way past the entrance, it goes downhill quite fast.. Our server spoke to us a total of 4 times throughout the entire 2 hours we stayed. There was no greeting, no introduction, and no checking in. She actually completely avoided eye contact at all costs. There were 3 separate instances where she ran up to our table and tried disposing of plates that my children were actively eating. Shortly afterwards, during the middle of our dinner, she refilled my mother's cup of big red with the big red that my son left in his cup after he had walked up to get another plate. We immediately tried to confront her and get a fresh cup of soda but she literally almost ran off. The food was lacking flavor completely, everything tasted exactly the same... old and lukewarm... even the desserts were bland... So the place definitely looks super cool. They did a really good job to make it look nice and clean and everything being presentable. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed like we had to wait to go in which was great because it kept everything rotating very well, I did not see anything empty, and they were constantly replenishing the food. Personally, I did not think any of the Chinese food was that amazingly good and the sushi was definitely low quality, but there were so many choices that it's well worth the cost. And then they also have all you can eat crab on the weekends. I cannot stress enough how amazing the crab was and how much crab I ate versus the $19 I paid for the buffet. My wife also really enjoyed the Mongolian barbecue and we all enjoyed dessert. Because oh my gosh, there's a chocolate fountain. I think my seven-year-old was almost ready to dip crab legs in the chocolate fountain, but we stopped him. Made a church visit this afternoon and after the visit I decided I wanted some buffet food. Destiny probably took me to this brand new buffet place less than a mile from the church. Today was their grand opening day! This is a King's not owned by the one in Leon Valley that's also amazing. Apart from the usual food served at oriental buffets, my favorite coconut shrimp was available to feast on! They even have a whole steamed dimsum section that includes my faves siumai, chicken feet, and chicken sticky rice. Their rendition of salmon was uniquely bbq'd. It was fabulous. The fried succhini was crunchy and tasty. They have an extensive sushi section by the hibachi grill area. Sushi was made fresh and tasty. I got samplings of my favorites salmon and the other fishes. They have eel sushi as well which is not a usual sight at many oriental buffet places. Topped my sushi with soy sauce and spicy mayo. Staff was amazing, friendly, and neatly dressed. Place is new. Place was clean. Perfect ambience with instrumental oriental music playing. Lots of booth seating options. They have a room for more private dining and parties. Lots of parking outside. San Antonio has gained another quality buffet gem. read more

4.5 stars - I'll start with I am NOT a buffet person. However my son is and wanted to try this place. This was the cleanest buffet I've ever been in (I've lived in 22 states). The staff were extremely courteous and kind. Not just the front end personnel but the staff in charge of the different food stations/bars as well. Very helpful to a new comer. They offered a very eclectic choice of Asian cuisine including sushi, Mongolian, Chinese. There is also a choice of US cultural favorites, fried chicken, macaroni, potato, and veggie salads, etc.; they also had a decent selection of seafood, such as crab legs, whole large shrimp, baked fish, etc., and bringing up the backend, dessert - great selection of fruit, cookies, cheese cake, custard, ice cream, etc. While I realize there are a lot of etc.'s, in my review, that can't be helped. The selections seem endless and it's a lot to take in. If you're a buffet person I would highly recommend this place because of all the choices, the wonderful staff, the cleanliness, and the great prices. If you're not a huge fan of buffets, I still recommend it, the food options are wonderful, it's the cleanest and best run buffet I've seen, and the prices are great. read more

Many consider that a buffet should receive no more than three stars and if a buffet was pitted against a decent sit-down restaurant, I might agree. But that's not how I do things. I consider my readers to be intelligent, discriminating souls who would agree with my assessment. If you don't, then please feel free to move on. I've never eaten at the original King Buffet on Bandera Road; had it on my list but never made it there. Peg and I were in San Antonio for a few days a week or so ago and decided to give the Austin Highway location a go--very glad we did! As those of you who have followed my on-again-off-again appearance on Yelp know, I'm a buffet junkie (Peg is, too)! You won't find much new in the various food categories save that they have a dim-sum section (be sure to try the Sticky Rice and Chicken!) and a Mongolian grill (which I didn't try; the grill was not hot enough for my liking). But flavor and cleanliness are what sets this apart from other buffets. Consider Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. Most buffets will merely add some hot peppers to the Sesame sauce and call it General Tso's; King Buffet doesn't but prepares the proper sauce. Lo Mein, which I usually dislike, found favor with me, as did the rice noodles next to it. Pan fried dumplings are plentiful and full of filling; the dipping sauce is excellent. Crab Rangoon, usually tough, dry with only a smidgen of filling has plenty of cream cheese and crab. The sushi, although uninspired, is well-prepared; and if you like seaweed salad, there's a huge bowl of it. They do have a smattering of American food but I didn't try that. Like desserts? Yeah, me too. Many to choose from; all, except the custard tarts, were quite good. If you like lychee, they have 'em! And yes, I did sneak in my trusty laser thermometer; hot things were hot, cold things were cold. Service was friendly and efficient. Plates were cleared off the table quickly and drinks were filled without having to ask. The chairs deserve special mention; well-padded with high backs and very comfortable. The inside was so beautiful and very large, the service was great, our server was very attentive even though the entire place was full of people. And the food was absolutely amazing. My husband and I stopped here about 1:30 pm one day and just didn't feel we were hungry enough for the buffet at $14.99. We are senior citizens and just can't eat enough to justify that cost. But we saw a sign stating they had an Early Bird price of $9.99 between 2 and 3:30 pm. That was doable, so we went shopping for a half hour and returned for the meal. They have sushi and other dim sum choices. They had a grill area for made to order dishes, but we had to pass on that as there were so many great choices all ready to serve. One small issue, beverages were not included which brought the bill up some. However, we left full and happy. We hope to return again. read more

This is a very impressively nice restaurant, in deco and lighting. Very clean. Well presented food. But seemed less of an oriental buffet than a seafood restaurant. My favorite part was the Mongolian grill, well cooked and seasoned (house sauce was good!). But personally did not really like any of the fried foods, as without flavor. Some odd seafood combinations. Way too much salad, fruit and the like. Why are the mussels cold?!? Unrecognizable desserts. But to me there was an odd lack of Chinese dishes. Yikes! First timer here. Within 6 minutes of me sitting down I was brought the bill . I walked around the restaurant and noticed I was the only one to receive their bill I was also the only black woman dining alone. I was circled and gawked at by the staff while I ate.
