The server knowingly served me a slice of expired tres leches cake. I purchased the dessert with my meal and asked for it whilst checking out. Drove home and took a small bite from it before placing it in the fridge. The milk had gone bad and was rancid. Strawberry filling had also turned. Noticed that the top of the container had a sticker that was pulled off, I'm assuming it was the sell-by date. I called them and the lady acted like she didn't remember us from 10 minutes prior. She didn't seem too surprised and wouldn't pull the rest of the cakes from being sold. Will never go back, and will be filing a complaint with the health department. read more

This is an excellent, authentic restaurant. Not only burritos on the menu, there are quite a few other selections. I tried a chicken and chrorizo fajita burrito and it was terrific. Their spicy hot sauce/salsa is also excellent. I will definitely be back -- there are several entrees that caught my eye that I want to try. Many of the other reviews highlighted good things about this restaurant, so I'll keep my additional comments short. Bottom line is that it was a very positive experience. I had Alambre Al Gratine and it exceeded my expectations as I love dishes with chorizo and I've never had a dish with more chorizo on it than this one. If chorizo is not your thing, there's a similar dish with chicken. Very plentiful serving and had to take half home. My wife had chicken nachos and they were plentiful as well. Her only comment was that it appeared that only dark meat chicken was used. Whether that's good or bad is just a personal preference. Since it was also a huge portion and she took half home as well, one tip she had was to ask for the chips on the side as they were drenched in cheese sauce and wouldn't be usable for leftovers. It was our first time there and we'll definitely be back. Since ratings have to be a whole number, I chose 5 to keep their overall rating more positive but we'd actually consider it a 4.5 (5 for my dish and 4 for hers). Just called in my order as I do anytime and for the first time they didn't do my order correctly. Everytime I call I repeat myself several times and make sure I'm understood. They brung out the wrong order then after me telling them they just gave me back the exact same burrito after waiting ten min. EXACT SAME BURRITO! Then they charge me for the correct one and say I didn't just specify my order several times! I come here often. Its inexpensive, delicious, and the staff is great. A co-worker told me about a special mexican soup called Pasole that is hard to find on menus around St. Louis. They make it occasionally as a special. We asked them to make it for us on a day a group of us could come in and try it. It was great and really nice that they did that for us. After honeymoon in Mexico in 2014 and living a few years in Texas, I've been on the hunt for decently-authentic, high quality Mexican restaurants in this area. I would consider King Burrito one of them. Located in a strip mall a couple doors down from a Mexican grocer, it is higher quality and better-tasting than the typical Americanized Mexican restaurant chains. It's pretty small with a take-out feel with 5 booths and bar stools at a couple counters to eat at or wait for take-out orders. They have a couple TVs and music in Spanish playing, but it's not overly loud. You can order take-out from the big menus at the counter or get eat-in menus with a waitress serving. We chose to eat there, and the menu was much more extensive than I expected. In addition to the usual tacos, burritos, fajitas, etc, they had Mexican sandwiches, burgers, entrees, and a kids menu. My husband, who is not usually a fan of Mexican food (at least not the typical Midwest-style chains), even found something he liked and even very much enjoyed: chicken with vegetables including mushrooms. I ordered shrimp fajitas, which came with 8 jumbo shrimp (I had to remove the tails myself, but no big deal). Both came with a small salad, rice, and beans. Rice was a little on the cold side, tortillas were nice and hot, and the other food was warm. Our Spanish-only-speaking waitress brought us out 3 foils of tortillas one by one, so my husband used them with his meal as well. Refills on our fountain soda, water, and chips were prompt (and free). They also have Mexican Coke in glass bottles, and other soda/drinks in glass bottles and cans. We had to wait a little bit to get our entrees and to get our bill processed, but only because they were quite busy in relation to their size around 6PM on a Friday, mostly take-out orders. We'll definitely be back again, and I'm eager to try something else. They don't have sopapillas (which I love) on the menu, but they do have several dessert options I was too full to try. We took a good portion of our food to go, so the price was good for how many meals we got out of it. read more

I went here earlier this evening to eat after seeing the reviews on Yelp... I've really never noticed this place maybe because the sign is burned out or turned off... I'm very picky about steak... I usually don't order it from Mexican restaurants because it's always tough... Well its not tough here! I was super impressed with the quality and quantity of food... I ordered four tacos two chicken and two steak and I was only able to eat two of them... My friend ordered the ginormous chicken burrito and was only able to eat half of it... I hope this place is here to stay because there are very few decent restaurants in the area... Now that I know the steak is tender I can't wait to try some of their other items... The only thing that struck me as odd was when you walk in it feels like a carryout restaurant even though there are a few booths and tables but after we placed our order at the counter she asked us if it was for here or to go we told her it was for here so then when we sat down with our foam cups to our surprise she had her daughter bring us chips and salsa... The green salsa is pretty spicy the red is also but not as much...btw... They have a huge specialty section on the board above the register but it was not on their takeout menu and none of the items had an explanation of what they were read more

Pretty good semi-authentic Mexican food. Don't bother with the burritos; they're "meh." The Cabeza Torta is quite good but I broke a tooth on a piece of bone. Their Ceviche is decent, but a little "lime-y." All in all it seems like a nice place with a good atmosphere, but nothing like what you'll get in Arizona. read more

Without some of the prior reviews I never would have eaten here. From the street, it's just another slot in a strip mall box. The inside is not any better, at best it's a bit grundy? to me. However, the service was very friendly and chips, salsa and water were brought out right away. I ordered a steak torta and a shrimp burrito and both had very good flavor. We're brand new to the St Charles area and found ourselves craving Mexican food. As born and bred Texans (Austin area) you could say when it comes to Mexican food we have very high expectations. Unfortunately the first place we chose to try was so disappointing that we walked out after skimming over the menu (so limited and couldn't even be considered authentic or even Tex-Mex) and being told they did not serve complimentary chips and salsa. I became kinda hangry when we got back in our car and my husband suggested something else for dinner because I had my heart and stomach set on Mexican food. So I persisted in aggravating Siri to expand her search area and lo and behold I found Burrito King! The minute we pulled up in the strip mall I felt we were onto something real. Hole in the wall Mexican food joints are always the best. And when we walked in and I smelled those familiar smells and saw the menu board hanging above the counter with English and Spanish I knew I had found what I was looking for. It's a rather small restaurant with wooden booths with high backs which reminded me of our favorite places back home. We were served chips and salsa and after one bite I KNEW we had found our go-to place. The chips were homemade as were the tortillas I had with my meal of steak tacos al carbon. The meat was tender and so flavorful and the crema was truly crema, not American sour cream. OMG, I haven't mentioned the guacamole.... it was perfect in every way! Chunky with lime, cilantro and just the right amount of salt and seasonings to make the avocado the start! My husband loved his steak quesadilla and could not say enough good things about the Spanish rice! If you truly know and appreciate Mexican/Tex-Mex food, this is the place for you. The menu is vast and the prices are so reasonable! Very inline with what I am accustomed to paying for food like this. Two of us ate and had iced tea for about $18.00. We will definitely be going back at least once a week for our Mexican food fix. And this is now our place, I'm not risking trying anywhere else. :) read more

Really good quality Mexican food! I got a chorizo taco and a lengua taco. Both were delicious. Husband got the pamboza. Wow! It is the size of your head and so good. Our daughter had a chicken taco and devoured it. Their tortillas are one of the best we've had in the city. To drink we got the horchata and it did not disappoint. read more
