I highly do not recommend coming to this bar. There was a group of 10 of us that tried to come in to King Taps and got turned away. We came all the way from Vancouver and we're just trying to have a good time and grab a quick drink on a Sunday night and the bouncers turned us away for no reason. Their only question was "did you come from somewhere else?" and we answered honestly saying "yes we just had a drink at realsports down the street" and they wouldn't let us in. We were all in good condition and they turned us away because our friend is from out of town and carries and accent which I find extremely discriminatory. Went to King Taps with a group of friends for the first time had always heard good things but didn't know what to expect. Been here a few times and it's become a go-to spot for me and my friends! The upstairs patio is really nice and has misters on hot days so it stays pretty cool. We are fairly frequent visitors to King Taps in FCP. Generally speaking the service is nothing to write home about. Typical Bay St expense account type resto/bar which uses its convenient location and size to attract clients rather than service or food. However, their is one server in particular who always goes above and beyond. Her name is Alie and she definitely rises above and is a real asset to this restaurant. My husband and I pre-scoped this place out as were super pumped about the patio. We arrived during happy hour (half priced pizza and drinks). At first we were seated in the sun, where the umbrella didn't cover but we didn't care bc we were on the patio. Our waitress, Cynthia came over and took care of us immediately. She was very well educated on the entire menu and was more than willing to give recommendations. She was very descriptive when describing food and drinks. She even noticed we were getting too hot without shade and moved us over into shade. We ended up ordering the Brussels sprouts- which were a win! We were waiting on friends to join us and she was very accommodating- never once rushing us, only allowing us the opportunity to enjoy our gorgeous view. When our friends arrived, we ordered the Forager pizza and I can't say enough good things about it. Cynthia also continued to bring us water throughout our time on the patio. Came in on Monday night with a couple of co-workers, we had heard good things about the restaurant and decided to check it out for ourselves. The food and drinks did live up to all the hype we had received. Our server Pampa was just delightful, she greeted us with a amazing smile that was just contagious. Her energy was so fun and warming and we were all loving her fun personality. We had heard such good things about the pizza and asked for her recommendation. She swore by the Kona pizza which inclues crispy bacon, roasted pineapple and spicy yogurt sauce. Not being a fan of pineapple on pizza I has hesitant about ordering it for the table. Pampa our server assured us that the combination of the toppings worked so well that we decided to order it, she was so confident we would love it. Of the three pizzas we ordered I could honestly say that the Kona was the most delicous one everyone simply loved it! The overall atmosphere was amazing, lots of people socializing, good music and amazing staff. Our server Pampa was very professional and friendly, she was very warming and kept all of us laughing, she made our overall experience amazing and we all agreed that we will be coming back! read more

We came in with 15 people. Maybe 20. Have you ever entered a resto with 15 people and asked to be seated? Chaos. Mind you we called ahead. Let them know a day in advance we were coming... but no reservations. And they say us with a smile not a scowl. I have never had better service with such a huge group. Repeat: we had phenomenal service. They take your name to help make splitting the bill easy. They had 4 servers for our table (as opposed to maybe 2 that you'd get at jack Astors). Four servers!!!! I'm still flabbergasted. They were on top of it the whole night. I still can't get over how great the service was. The food was also delicious. Came out timely. My fiancé got the royal burger... freaking delicious. Like to die for. Pizza? Delicious. This place is doing whatever they are doing the right way. I just didn't like my beer... not their fault.... it was mine. I ordered a sour beer that tasted like vinegar. It was fresh tho!!! If you have a party or group I highly recommend this place. Went to King Taps and I have to give credit to Shawn. He's amazing and gave us recommendations and where to go on a Thursday night in Toronto. Was at king taps a couple nights ago with some friends and we ordered the crispy sushi, korean chicken, brussel sprouts and the stinging bee pizza. The food was amazing but the pizza takes the cake for everyone's favourite. They have over 70 beers on tap!! Our server Mikayla was highly knowledgeable about the beers and we ended up just letting her choose them all for us based on our preference (which did not disappoint). Mikayla gave us outstanding service the entire time, the food was amazing and the beers were great. I HIGHLY recommend this place. 5 stars across the board. read more

As soon as I walked in I knew this place would be great the atmosphere was amazing. They have lots of space - a bar up and downstairs as well as outdoor seating on both levels. The margarita pizza was my favorite here! We ordered a burger and beef tacos for dinner and both were exceptional as well. The only thing I can complain about is the amount of time it took for our food to come out. Usually people like when food comes out quickly but I thought it came out way too quickly here. We were still eating our pizza when our entrees came out - I just wish I had some more time to enjoy a drink and appetizer before dinner came out. read more

Waited for a table for 4, which was fine....until I was seated at a table for 2, then rudely approached by another staff member with "you can't just sit here sir"...completely disorganized and just rude service. Don't bother going. Had a ridiculous experience. Colleague and I who work in the area, arrived at 4:45 on a Tuesday night and the restaurant and patio were empty. We are told to have a seat at the bar and they will text us when a table is ready...45 minutes later, restaurant with still a lot of empty tables so we check back in we are told there are 15 tables ahead of us and it would be 1.5 to two hour wait ! The patio had one table being used... the rest were empty! The hostess was so rude and cold, when I asked why were we not informed of this when we arrived, she literally dismissed me and I asked that I go back and wait at the bar. I have worked in NYC for last 5 years and have never seen anything like this before. Needless to saw we left and will not be going back. Try REDS or craft beer ... so many better places where you treated with respect. We have two upcoming work events reserved here, we are switching, I will not give a place like this our business. read more

Been there a couple of times since they opened and I have to say it's a fancy place with good choice of music and nice deco. The food on the first time was ok, (didn't expect high quality food). Service was great (a bit slow for drink service I have to say). The second day the food was a bit lower in quality. We had the minimacks which I really recommend because they are amazing. But after we had a burger and a Cesar salad with chicken. The burger was good, but the fries coming with the burger were way to salty, soggy and too fried. And about the Caesar salad I have to say they put too much lemon on the sauce and the leaves of iceberg where way to big same as the chicken. A think I don't understand is the wine service. They serve they champagne in margarita glasses and they don't have real wine glasses for their wines. Even tho we ordered a Chablis (20$ a glass) it was served in what in my opinion is not a right glass for wine. The place is really cool, the atmosphere is great but I can't give it 5* for the little problems I think they still need to solve. It's a new place so I guess they still need to work on it. read more

Tonight I went to King Taps for a girls evening out and after a while of being there, a waitress accidentally knocked a pitcher of water over and it went all over my dress and lap. This seems like a negative experience, but it was far from. I did let the waitress know it wasn't a big deal, it's just water. But she apologized quite a bit. After that our head waitress Heather came over and did the same letting us know that a round of drinks was on them. After that, we were greeted by manager Erin (or Erica-I am sorry it was a bit difficult to hear) who asked if I would need dry cleaning. All was unnecessary and my friend and I had a great evening nonetheless. It was a pleasant surprise to see our Nachos were on the house as well. Heather and Erin(Erica?) were super attentive and they handled the situation very efficiently,quickly and most important, professionally. I definitely plan to come back...not even some spilled water would keep me away :):) read more

This is a fairly new place in town and can be quite busy- if you are going a reservation might be worthy. The atmosphere is very nice with really great music. The power bowl was very tasty. This place can be quite pricy but that's downtown Toronto for you! read more
