Tucked in the corner strip mall
John S.

I was in DTLA looking for a solid lunch spot and had a couple of places saved on Yelp. Ok, I admit I have tons of saved places on my "to try" yelp lists. First stop I tried (Holbox)...which had a line around the corner, and the second spot I wanted to try was Chuy's Tacos and it's closed on Sundays. I ended up at KingBop about 15 minutes away...and honestly, that worked out pretty darn well to quench my "Taco" craving. It's tucked into a dumpy little strip mall, so don't come expecting much atmosphere. This is more of a fast-casual, self-service kind of spot where you can order on the tablet or at the counter, then wait for your food. The seating area is small, and I had to wait for a table to open up. Parking was also a bit of a battle on a busy weekend around 1 p.m., but that's LA being LA. The sushi TACO's, though? Really really good. I tried the pork taco (good) and the ahi tuna taco (my fav). The shells are crispy seaweed with a tempura-style crunch, so they actually hold together and give you that great taco bite. The flavors were fresh, the sauces were on point, and the whole thing worked way better than I expected. Thx Yelp for another satisfying Taco treat. They have a deal where you get $3 off if you order three tacos, but I only grabbed two. They're a little on the pricey side, but they were filling enough and worth it. Two tacos hit the spot without putting me into a food coma, which is always appreciated. The food took a little while to come out, but it tasted fresh and made-to-order. Overall, I really enjoyed it. KingBop takes sushi, flips it upside down, stuffs it into a crispy taco seaweed shell, and somehow makes perfect sense. As a crispy taco fan, I was fully on board. Five stars from me. Not fancy, not atmospheric, but fun, creative, fresh, and delicious.

Unagi Taco

This place has been viral so I decided to drive out and try it! The sushi tacos are about $10 and some change and they have a great variety to choose from!I went close to opening so no rush or lines. The beef belly and unagi tacos were delicious the flavors and ingredients were so good! Definitely worth a visit at least once! I will be back! Even my daughter enjoyed it! **Downside** The place and parking lot is small and some spots are a tight squeeze. The area is not great so be mindful! There a some tables to sit and eat and the staff was welcoming and friendly! Can be pricey I paid $32 dollars for three tacos however portion size is huge and fair for price point. Grilled pork belly and as the worst one out the three I tried so dry, bland, and lots of fat pieces avoid that one!

April 22, 2026 | Inside | Crunchy Spicy Taco & Salmon Taco! |

April 22, 2026 | Los Angeles | The moment I heard about the Viral Crunchy Sushi Tacos, I knew I had to add KingBop to my wish list! 3 Crunchy Sushi Tacos | Shared | At first sight and bite, the Salmon & Spicy Tuna Sushi Tacos easily looked yummy, piled high with toppings & dripping with sauce! I enjoyed the salmon taco! My favorite was the Spicy Tuna Crunchy Taco, which was absolutely delicious and I loved hearing that crunch! Haha! It's definitely a messy taco, but worth it, so keep napkins near! Honey Butter Seasoning Fries | I absolutely love honey butter chips, so I knew the fries would be a hit and they were incredibly delicious! I craved one bite after another! I highly recommend! Fried Seaweed Rolls | I honestly thought I would love this, but they were not a hit for me! I only had one bite! Cute wrapping paper underneath though! Haha! Sighting | While my friend and I were catching up, I heard someone's funny ringtone quite often... So I thought, it actually ended up being a real life parrot! Haha! The woman was super friendly, we spoke briefly as she was walking out of the restaurant and she let me take a cute photo of the parrot! Inside | It's bright and colorful! You order at the kiosk! There was a special for three tacos for three dollars off! This place gets super busy! There were a lot of orders to go as well! Luckily, we found a table right away! A woman picking up an order for her daughter asked how were the tacos and I raved about the salmon taco!! Note | As KingBop is definitely a super busy place, I would recommend wiping down the glass door every now and then and the baseboards! Overall | I enjoyed the crunchy tacos! If in the area, I would easily return and try another taco, excited to hear that crunch!

[BEST] Kimchi Bulgogi Cheese Fries Salmon, Tuna, Bulgogi Tacos
Ethan Z.

Wow what a concept! My girlfriend and I decided to try this trendy spot and were greeted by a line out the door of other curious foodies excited to get their fill of sushi tacos. I wasn't sure what to expect upon arrival but liked that they had options to order at their digital kiosk if clankers are more your thing vs ordering with a human. We waited in line for maybe 10-15 minutes before placing our order at the helpful robot and quickly snagged a table as real estate was precious in their tiny dining space. While their staff looked mostly efficient pumping out to-go orders, sadly our beef bulgogi kimchi fries really held up our order. It appeared that although our sushi tacos were ready quickly, the Fries were ready almost a whole 20 minutes later. We waited maybe 30-40 minutes for our order to come out. I was obviously a bit bothered, but understood that they had more orders coming in than they could possibly handle. When we did end up taking our first bites I was astounded. Their exciting flavors, chunky portions, and fried seaweed provided a bite I had never experienced before! Honestly so worth it. The salmon and Tuna tacos were less flavorful than the beef belly one because the meat obviously was seasoned/marinated but for them being sushi tacos they were awesome with nice ingredients. I think the wait on the meat made the fries taste a little old but still everything was amazing. The staff is friendly, and did their best to maintain a good system amid the chaos that is their fan base. While I am not sure I will be back anytime soon, the food truly was a pleasure as it was unique, filling, and delicious.

Ugh the hype is real!! This place always has a line I feel like no matter what time, so ordering ahead is probably the best option. We tried a bunch of stuff - Rose Mala Topokki, Crispy Shrimp and Beef Kimbaps and 3 Crunchy Tacos (Salmon, Spicy Tuna and another meat one). My favorite was definitely the topokki but honestly everything was soo good. The servings are big and they really load up the tacos, so it's great value. Overall, so so good!!

Delicious first time here! We got 4 tacos, two shrimp tacos which were so good with a good amount of spicy crab salad, the bulgogi tacos was my favorite it had a lot of meat, and the eel was a large piece. Definitely recommend

Ok this was fun. Comfort "tashi" (taco sushi). I've tried this before in other places, but none of them took, and a year after they opened, none of them are around any more. The reason? I suspect it's because they try to fancy it up as sushi, rather than comfort it down to what I'd call emotional-damage-breakup-food. You know.... eat everything cuz he/she dumped you for that "just a friend" they always hang out with..... you know what I'm talking about. Comfort food. After which, you do the "best way to get over somebody, is to get under somebody".... before you heal and decide to be a better person. While you're hurting though? THIS IS WHAT YOU EAT. I had the beef and unagi tacos, and I was feeling might comfy. The great thing about it is they hold for a while when you want to bring it home. Prices average about $11-13, but I always get the 3-taco deal, which comes out to under $10 each. The neighborhood is kinda ghetto, so if you're the prissy Newport Beach TikTok type, I'd recommend you just DoorDash it. Definitely a fan!!

So Kingbop's sushi tacos actually exceeded my expectations. Super yummy! The hype is real and worth it. I would seriously recommend giving these a shot. I went for several of the three taco deal and tried them all. My favorites in order were the unagi, with the sweet sauce and spicy crab, the spicy tuna, the salmon, beef, and pork. I ordered online so things were ready when I arrived. I actually recommend doing this because there was quite a line. The location is jammed into a corner of a very small strip mall. There are pretty much no parking spots available. So be prepared for that as well. Definitely worth a trip to try. Totally awesome and unique flavors. Five stars!

Crispy Shrimp and Spicy Crab Sushi Taco
Deweyne L.

Kingbop had been on my radar for a minute so I finally made the trip. It's tucked away in a little strip mall and the parking lot is tiny. Street parking is the move because this place stays busy. Walked in and it was packed, placed my order at the self service kiosk and settled in for a wait. There were a ton of to go orders ahead of mine but in my experience that's always a good sign. Got the Crispy Shrimp and Spicy Crab Sushi Taco to go and it was worth the wait. Sweet, savory, and looked just as good as it tasted. One thing worth mentioning, the tails are still on the shrimp so don't get so caught up in how good it looks that you forget to remove them first. My only other regret was not ordering more of them.

I've been wanting to try this place since seeing it on social media and honestly.... I can see why it's viral. I ordered pickup pretty late in the day so didn't have any issues parking, but keep in mind that the lot it's in is pretty small so parking may be difficult. As for the food, I got the three taco combo and opted for the salmon, unagi, and spicy tuna (with k-pepper mayo on the side). Salmon: Fantastic. The chunks of salmon were plentiful, big, and fresh. This was my favorite and the addition of the k-pepper mayo made it sooo good Unagi: Good! I'd order again. The eel had a really nice glaze. Wasn't expecting the addition of imitation crab, but I liked it Spicy tuna: Good, but I don't think I'd order again. Was mainly imitation crab with a bit of tuna on top Overall, I enjoyed and would order again! Would recommend ordering in advance online :)

Pork Belly, Shrimp, Eel
Ryan C.

After seeing KingBop on TikTok featuring their crunchy sushi tacos, my girlfriend immediately wanted to try it because she loves crunchy food, and honestly, it lived up to the hype. What they do is pretty unique. They fry sushi paper into a taco shell shape, then layer white rice and imitation crab on the bottom before topping it with your protein of choice. We tried the thinly sliced pork belly, fried shrimp, eel, and tuna. They also offer options like calamari and others. The tacos themselves were fantastic. The pork belly especially stood out with really good flavor, and they're generous with the amount of protein they put into each taco. The tuna was probably the weakest of the ones we tried. It sounded better in theory than it actually tasted, so I'd probably skip that one next time. Everything else was excellent. The biggest downside here is honestly the parking and the layout of the location. Parking is rough. The strip mall is tiny, street parking nearby is heavily restricted, and there are a lot of red curbs and permit-only areas. I ended up parking across the street and walking over. A lot of people were double parking too, which made traffic even more chaotic. Inside, you order from a digital kiosk, then wait in a very small dining area for your food. The restaurant was extremely busy even on a Tuesday around 1 PM. I actually felt bad for the people dining inside because the tables are packed tightly together, and then you have customers standing around between tables waiting for orders. Space is clearly limited, but the setup makes it feel crowded very quickly. Waiting outside wasn't much better because there's a dumpster nearby that smelled pretty bad, especially in the heat. That said, once we got the food, grabbed napkins, and went back across the street to eat in the car, the experience immediately improved. The presentation was great, and they even use styrofoam containers with built-in slots that hold the tacos upright so they don't spill or fall apart during transport, which was a smart touch. The staff was also very friendly, and considering how busy and cramped the place was, they handled things well. Overall, I would definitely go back. The food itself is creative, crunchy, flavorful, and genuinely fun to eat. Just be prepared for the parking and tight space situation before you go.

They're famous tacos, spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, and I believe it's pork belly yummy

Daughter-in-law recommended me to go here she's been seeing this place forever and has not ever gone so since I lived so close, she wanted me to try it and since my son school is so close so I said OK I'll give it a try. Oh my God! what a find! this place is amazing. The staff is so nice the food. I can't explain it the best I've ever had. I've never had anything like this though, so I can't even compare it to the best thing I've ever had because this beats every sushi place and taco place I've ever been to .it's a must try worth every penny a little small place in a convenient store mall very casual seating and again service with a smile. Note: went on Tuesday two people there no wait at 1 pm

[BEST] Bulgogi Kimbop Roll 직화 불고기
Ashlee S.

Saw these sushi tacos on YouTube and had to try! Bring your appetite! Y'all ain't ready. First of all they're huge! The shells are battered and fried and so crispy! Which offsets the nice soft comforting fillings. I had the 3 taco special unagi, spicy tuna and salmon. Y'all the crunchy sweet spicy and savory did a number on my taste buds and I LOVE it!! My partner had the pork belly taco. He said it was amazing! I was too full to try it. He also had the bulgogi kimbop roll and it was FIRE!!! I don't know what that sauce was with it but it was absolutely DIVINE! If you haven't tried this place yet WHAT ARE UOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?! It was delivered to us very fast so I can't speak about the ambiance! We definitely plan on stopping in for quite a few bites next time.

What seemed like a deceptively simple bowl was one of the most delicious and flavorful meals I've had - I'll be thinking about my bowl for a long time. I got the plain kalgaksu, mainly because it included pork potstickers. The anchovy broth isn't fishy (which I was concerned about), it's deep and full in a way that's hard to describe. It penetrates the noodles and potatoes well. The broth is similar if not the same between most bowl types. The cold noodles were also delicious, which a couple of my friends ordered. Quite large portions, as just about everyone had to take some home. They also have bibimbap if you're craving a rice based meal instead. I can't wait to come back - maybe not on a Saturday night next time so I don't have to look so long for parking!

I really wanted authentic Korean food that was not kbbq and not tofu and this place delivered! This restaurant is in a small strip mall. The strip mall has other Korean food options. They have a valet parking system of sorts but we didn't pay, we self parked. The attendant told us we were fine. It was approx 9pm when we arrived and also a week night. I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Also, the banchan is on point. We asked for a refill and devoured the second portions. If you wanna impress friends with Korean food, bring them here! Its a casual place.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
