Even for a cheap chinese buffet, the food was horrible. We came on a thursday evening and while everything appeared ok at first glance, my family and I soon discovered how wrong my initial assessment was. I don't know how all of the supposedly warm savory items can be both cold and dry. When I say all, I mean every selection, from the chicken wings to the fried rice to the steak and the french fries. This even applied to items that they brought straight from the kitchen. The lone exception was the fake crab meat soup, which was unfortunately the best thing of the evening. Even the dessert items like the cakes, fruit, and jellos were dry. I couldn't even try the sushi after my first plate due to fears of how long they were left out. Lunch price is $8.49 hot tea included, in my opinion for the food they offer this is overpriced, why? they only have three buffet tables, take out one for salad bar, fruits and deserts, take out half for soup and steam food (I am Chinese, I don't even know what's that), the only hot food probably one and half table, really count probably less than 24 dishes, today, they offer three kind of broccoli dishes, you can count how much beef in the broccoli beef, string beam and mustard green. shrimp meat ball? there is no shrimp nor meat, it tasted like tofu, vegetable stir fry noodle and two kind of vegetable stir fry rice, vegetable stir fry rice noodle, vegetable spring roll..about ten entry for vegetarian. when I walked in, the host staff ask me do I want to sit on bar where there are still plenty empty table available, is it strange? Place has good (not great) food during the weekdays, and great food on the weekends. But if you come 1.5hrs before closing time (10:00pm on weekdays) they will stop cooking food and the trays will be half empty with cold food. If you come before 8:30, you will enjoy this restaurant, if you arrive after 8:45, you better avoid this place. They charge $13 for the dinner buffet and it won't be worth your money if you come towards closing time. They also DO NOT serve crab legs AND coconut shrimp during the weekdays, which is disappointing for a $13 dinner buffet. It's 3:09p on a Tuesday afternoon and there's a steady, nice size crowd. The food is all hot and fresh. Service has been quick and courteous. I'm not generally big on buffets because they're buffets AND I don't eat a lot lol. However, I was hungry, in the area and remembered it from the only other time I'd been here. It's just as I remember from a few years ago. In my book you can't beat $9 for all you can eat buffet and all you can drink hot tea. Not sure what tea blend they use but it doesn't taste like regular black tea, it's quite delish and requires no sugar (if you really like hot tea lol). It appears the chefs at Gitmo have found A new home. This was without question the most disgusting low quality selection of food. They had beef with mixed vegetables and in three scoops on my plate they was no beef. Anything with seafood had the odor of turning and the supposed spicy tiny rolls were died red canned tuna. I've been to many buffets, by far this is the best. I know the owner since this was a little teeny carry out place in Dumfries Va. They have a huge variety for the price. I always go here and I've never had an issue, everything is replenished on time. I went recently to another buffet close by and freaked when I saw how much I was charged! And they didn't even have all the variety as this place. I paid for all my kids! Here my 2 yr old doesn't pay...I don't think my 5 yr old even pays. All they eat is jello! The only complaint is that they try to cramp you in tiny spots with kids, seats, and all. Most of the people are over weight (including myself) and can't fit all into a tiny space, especially when you have to squeeze through with a plate of food! It's hazardous! My friend requested me to take her to a Chinese buffet for her birthday, and this was the closest one with decent reviews. We had a great time! We went later at night (8pm) so the food selection was probably not as great as if we had gone at 5 or 6pm, but we recognize that is our own fault. I enjoyed the sushi, though they didn't put out any more once we finished what was there. Just got their lunch buffet paid 6.23 for two veggie spring rolls, 9 pieces of fresh sushi,9 large marinated mushrooms and a few tempura fried shrimp, Let me tell you the spring rolls were FANTASTIC , as was everything else! We decided to give this place a try despite all the bad reviews out there and we glad we did. This place offers a pretty standard Chinese buffet. Vegetable dishes are very fresh, I like the fried rice noodle, sea food, Zong Zi, and a few broccoli dishes. The hot and sour soup is also tasty. The place is clean, waiters and waitress are attentive, but not to an annoying extent implied by one of the reviewers. The only thing I wish it had is chocolate cake. Years ago this buffet used to be one of our staples, both for work lunches and with the family. Once they started charging us adult prices for our kids because they were tall we stopped going. No way I was going to pay adult prices when they ate next to nothing. Fast forward 6 years when it's just my wife and myself and she suggests that great little Chinese buffet we used to eat at. Heck, I forgotten about them, and regretfully probably should have stayed forgotten. Talk about going downhill. The place was practically empty despite it being prime time and the food was just awful. Crab Rangoon was off, ribs must have been sitting for hours as did all the Dim sum, and almost everything else we tried. The two highlights was the BBQ chicken and fake crab with special sauce, which seemed to be the two items everyone was getting. Seems like they have just given up. ( I wish they had something to dip them in other than soy sauce though) I think I ate my weight in dumplings. Lo mein was fine by me, i've had better crab rangoon, I tried a few other random things and they were good, but obviously I kept going back to the dumplings. I think it was about $12 or $12.50/person. They also had a huge fruit selection in the dessert area! I found kiwis that were cut into quarters YUM!
