    King's buffet, march 21, 2024
    Gail G.

I just moved to the area, and there seems to be NO other buffets in the area at all. So, I tried it today, hoping to do a YOUTUBE video in the near future. I waited well into the dinner time hour, for a week day, hoping for all that the dinner has to offer, but sadly, there was not very many choices, and the food was mostly older, as if from lunch. Oddly, the Swai fish fillet and that little fake seafood that comes on a shell, tasted sour as if it was bad, before cooking and serving it on the buffet. so i did NOT eat it. They charge the same as the Asian buffet in chantilly, but that other place has way more options, like sushi of all kinds and a live cook at the hibachi station, ribs, etc. another one in manasass offers blue crabs and tons more choices too. The fried shell on shrimp was the smallest i have seen on any Asian buffet in all my years of going to them. but that was tasty enough. also, they played rap and hip hop music along with a tv with liberal fox 5 news playing, so you hear both in your ear while trying to enjoy dinner. turn all that off and put on some soft dinner music, maybe even some nice easy asian themed music for the mood. The service was great though. I really was hoping for a good local Asian buffet place, but I guess i will have to make the trip to chantilly (a long ways off, since i moved) or hope for a new buffet to open as this area needs one badly, be it American food, Seafood, anything buffet.

    King shit Buffay

Everything smells staff very loud and obnoxious. Please don't eat in this piece of shit.

Came here a few days ago for dinner service. When we walked in, we were greeted with kindness. When we got to our table, it smelt like straight up like bleach and it was we and we asked the server if she could wipe it down to dry. The smell of bleach was still pretty strong. That we had to ask for new utensils because it had gotten onto them. When wet got to the food. Everything looked good from a distance, but up close it was not as pleasant. I had gotten a couple pieces of sushi. The avocado was turning brown on all of them. And they were not cold. And when I got to the entrée. I did a small variety of each dish. And once I sat down and ate, everything was cold, bland, and unappetizing. Me and my boyfriend were literally gagging. So, we both decided to ask for the check within less than 20 minutes of being there. We did not want to seem rude, but we did not tip. And the waitress (I also want to add she was not our waitress at first. She just came to get the check) got really offended by this. We spent approximately $40 for the two of us! Honestly, it was a total waste of time and money.! I have been to other buffet restaurants which I come out happy but this had to be honestly one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to.

What I enjoyed about Yo more than a place like Dumpling District (very similar in menu) was the quality and vibes of the service and atmosphere. The servers were very helpful to explain the dishes to my family members who needed some help. The food hit! The Spicy dry noodles are definitely what drew me to come here and they did not disappoint. My kids loved the pork chops. The seafood soup was loaded! The flavors were exceptional. And for as much food as we order, the price was pretty reasonable! We look forward to our next visit!

For example, the Panfried Pork Bun used to be my favorite item here but they've changed the recipe significantly. The pork filling used to be a lot larger and juicier...but now when you break open the bun, the filling is so small that half of the bun doesn't even have any meat. 80% of the bun is just dough and it's not fried well and quite greasy. Everything overall was way too greasy, including the crueller and the dry noodles were swimming in oil. I did like the texture of the noodles, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the oiliness of the broth it was sitting in. It's really sad to see this place fall short since it opened a couple years ago. I'm hoping that they can improve their quality of food as it's really gone downhill since opening.

I was here twice over the last two months. The first time, I ordered off the regular menu. The second time, I did the AYCE dim sum/tapas. Obviously, ordering a la carte, you'll get larger portions. It was all fantastic. The server was attentive and friendly. Dishes came out lightning fast. And the food itself was stellar! I'll let the photos speak for themselves. You can't go wrong here, especially if you're getting one of the AYCE specials (there's a similar one at Mama Chang's). I want to note though, three of the dishes have the same flavor profile, just different main ingredients: spicy dry fish, spicy dry cauliflower, and dry fried spicy eggplant. They use dry fried red chili and ground Szechuan peppercorn. If you like this, great! Just know it's the same seasoning across these dishes. I didn't take photos of everything, but if it's braised pork xxxx, get it! I will gladly return to this location or Mama Chang's for another AYCE adventure.

It's our go to Chinese restaurant and the food travels surprisingly well, so if the takeout tastes this good, I can only imagine how amazing it is fresh in the restaurant. Prices are reasonable to slightly on the higher side, but the quality more than makes up for it. My personal favorites are the mapo tofu, green beans, and Singapore noodles, which is basically my standing order at this point.

It's all flavors/dishes that are familiar to me growing up in a Chinese household or that I love of Korean cuisine, so I definitely enjoyed dining here! They gave us banchan and dessert on the house which was so kind! I had a nibble of most the dishes and would recommend the spicy bulgogi stir fry, soy glazed brisket, and jjajangmyeon. The dining room isn't very big, and since we came for an early dinner, we had our pick and chose a four-top with a view. Well... the view was basically the Paris Baguette that's across the street. The general manager came by to take our order. To drink, I had a mocktail, "house-made lime cooler," which consists of "pureed Asian pear, lime juice, and Sichuan tea." I found it to be very refreshing. My husband had a Coors Light. For my entree, I chose "Soy glazed brisket" which consists of "2Fifty Texas BBQ brisket, soy brined soft egg, furitake butter, pickled peppers, steamed rice". I liked this entree. It was mildly spiced; the pieces of brisket were properly prepared; the pickled peppers added some heat; and the soy-brined soft egg was a nice touch. The egg was soft-boiled, and the egg yolk provided a nice flavor. My husband chose "JJayJangmeon" which consists of "shrimp, scallops, roasted black bean sauce, noodles". The dish is made with wheat noodles. It arrived hot and with a nice vegetable garnish on top. The greenness of the vegetables made a nice contrast to the dark brown sauce. That brown sauce was hot, mild, and thoroughly coated the dish's ingredients. It seemed a bit unusual to see a dish with shrimp and scallops coated in a mild black bean sauce, but it worked nicely. The shrimp arrived tail-less, and the scallops were soft and not rubbery, both properly prepared. I was glad not to have to fight with the shrimp tails. All in all, we were glad we made a return visit.

Be prepared to hunt for the place if you've never been to the shopping center, which is quite close to Route 7. We were here around 4 p.m. on a Saturday. At that time of day, there was one occupied table. Ordering food means going to the counter and giving your order to the person working there, and then paying. They have a menu on the wall, but the woman working there told us to look at the paper menu. Apparently, the menu on the wall is constantly changing. Before coming, we decided to order Mongolian beef, ma po tofu, and two small bowls of hot and sour soup. At first, my husband couldn't find the Mongolian beef on the menu. I took a look and found it is listed under the chef's specials. We gave our order and also got a can of ginger ale from the refrigerated chest. After paying, we chose a four top table for ourselves. The food came out quickly! First, the hot and sour soup came. It was served hot and did have some kick to it. We both enjoyed it. It does have quite a few button mushrooms in it, which I gave to my husband. Just as we were finishing the soup, both our entrees arrived. We both liked the Mongolian beef (which also had an abundance of button mushrooms). The sauce was tasty, and the beef was tender. As for the ma po tofu, we thought it was okay but could have been better. It's a meat-free entree that basically has large pieces of tofu, a lot of thin, spicy sauce, and bits of green onions. We each were given generous portions of white rice. We would consider visiting again in the future, as the service was excellent. As for ambiance, it has a carry-out place feel. It's kept quite clean.
