Came here for lunch and it was super crowded. Place was way too small and it's hard to pass through to your table without excusing yourself to ask other patrons to get up theirs seats, so you can pass through. Def not ideal for big groups. Anyways, the food was pretty good. Ordered the taro with preserved meat rice casserole, xo sauce stir fry instant noodles, minced beef congee, rice noodle roll with fried fritter ,and dumpling noodle soup. My fave was the rice casserole as it was very aromatic, and personally loved the crispy rice on the bottom plus it wasn't super burnt like a lot of places known for rice casseroles. Stir fry instant noodles and congee was just meh. Rice noodle roll was fresh made as the fritter was super crispy. Came here with my mom today. It was crazy packed but we were able to get a table instantly as we were only a party of two. We had the preserved meat rice casserole with a requested egg I added into it and a roast duck noodle soup. Both were excellent and super tasty! We even got one to go for my dad (FYI, if you get a rice casserole to go, they charge $1 for the clay pot, but will deduct $1 off your next bill if you return the pot. I suggest you keep it cause $1 is a steal!) Anyway, you may now wonder why I only gave 3 stars for such deliciousness? It's because the service is AWFUL. Granted, most Chinese restaurants have especially awful service-particularly if they're serving other Chinese people. We were lucky to be seated on the wall by the menus or we would have waited probably an hour before they noticed us and gave us a menu. They didn't offer us anything to drink when we were seated (although some dude just really pointed us to a table), when we were ordering, or when we received our food. I eventually became incredibly thirsty as i was scarfing down my food like a dog, but had nothing to get it down and thus tried to flag down a waiter to no avail (note: this place is small and I'm pretty sure they saw me but pretended not to). I eventually went one notch below shouting at them to get our tea. Not only did I capture their attention, but i captured the attention of all the people within a ten feet radius of me. After all that, we waited some more before we could flag someone down for a check. Also a quick tip, apparently the customers at this place don't like to lock the bathroom door (yes the lock works, I checked). I walked into two different people. The restaurant itself is very tiny so it does not fit many customers. I have been to here and another branch at Fort Hamilton and they are both great. For the two times that I visited, I had to wait for about 10 - 15 mins. But it did not matter at all because here you can find authentic Hong Kong style roasted / BBQ meats! Price is unbeatable even compared to other Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. I love their rice rolls and congee and would love to have my daily breakfast here if I live a bit closer. King's Kitchen is your typical Cantonese style restaurant, except it actually feels pretty clean and modern. The chairs are comfortable and the floor and tables are spotless. Based on their menu, they're pretty big on the rice casseroles and rice rolls. So my husband and I ended up ordering the shrimp rice roll and preserved pork and veggies rice rolls as appetizers. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the preserved pork rice rolls. It had a weird taste to it but my husband enjoyed it. He said it's a very northern Chinese style, which I guess suits his taste buds. But let's talk about their roast duck. It is the best roast duck I've had in ages. I used to go to Big Wong in Manhattan's Chinatown for roast duck but this place surpasses Big Wong by far. For $5.00, you get a huge portion of roast duck, which is like half of the bird. Obviously, the best part of the roast duck is the skin. It's crisp and enough fat underneath not to make your mouth drenched in oil. As bad as they may be for your cholesterol, you can tell these ducks were very well fed. Yum! read more

This location is extremely dishonest when purchasing take out. The first time I purchased approximately $35 worth of chicken and roast pork; the proportions seemed very sketchy since the chicken was missing both drumsticks and the box of roast pork didn't seem to match what I paid for. I thought I'd give them another chance today and purchased $13 worth of roast pork and specifically asked them to NOT slice up the meat. When I got home I was absolutely furious because the box of roast pork was SLICED UP, DRY, and were clearly leftovers from the previous day. I've often eat at the 86 and Chinatown location and I have never experienced such dishonesty. This location has boxes of meat hidden from behind the counter and is likely switching out the food after the customers pay in order to get rid of their leftover meat. Please keep your eyes on your order if you decide to purchase take out because this can very likely happen to you too. I love their congee, their rice noodle rolls, and their clay pot rice. The only bad thing is say about this place is the wait and the waiters. After eating here a few times and at their other locations, I feel that their waiters tend to take the wrong order or tend forget my order. Even if they do take the right order, it tends to take long. King's Kitchen is fit for a king or a queen. It has an appetizer or lunch plate of roasted suckling pig that rivals and perhaps surpasses most Chinese barbecue joints. The skin is paper thin crispy and a plate of that and equally good duck is only 5 bucks. It's signature rice rolls are good but the clay pot rice casseroles are comfort food to a Chinese person. I ordered the taro and preserved meats which had lop cheong, Chinese bacon and duck and the chunks of taro were a perfect combo imparting a delicate fatty fragrance over the freshly made basmati rice. This was perfect on a cold rainy night! Another comfort food favorite was the beef chow fun which had tender and generous pieces of beef and silky wide rice noodles with just the right amount of silky goodness without crossing over the fine line to greasy glop. All 3 dishes with take home leftovers were a whopping 20 bucks. We enjoyed our king's meal without paying a king's ransom! read more

I've ordered takeout from here many times. So far what stands out to me are the congee and the roasted meats. The chicken congee has a lot of chicken and is quite flavorful. The yang chow fried rice didn't have much roast pork or shrimp. The portions for things like roast pork over rice are great but it's a little drenched in sauce, though still good and cheap. I would definitely recommend the steamed rice rolls here. They are made fresh and the the layers are made very thin, which is a sign of a good rice roll. I had the 3 meat rice platter yesterday and it was delicious. The skin on the roasted pig and duck was crispy and buttery. The meat itself was tender and juicy. The soy chicken fell right off its bones. Rice was cooked just right, not dry but on the moist side. Can't really rate service in a place like this because being that it's in Chinatown burrough of Brooklyn, not much service should be expected from cheap eats.
