A great experience! Our server recommended the Cajun Feast ($73 for 6 people, but we were served enough food for at least 8!!). The food was overall quite delicious. The gumbo and étouffée were amazing, as were the Voodoo potatoes. The Voodoo chicken and blackened catfish were pretty good but the stars were definitely the gumbo and étouffée. Our server Melvin was incredible. Fun, smart, and took exceptional care of us on a busy Friday night. For dessert, because there's always room for dessert, we had a bread pudding that would make angels sing, made with gingerbread, chocolate chips, and bourbon sauce. Oh, and did I mention the live music? David Bowen played that guitar like BB King himself with a voice to match. I would leave 0/5 stars if I could. Visiting Memphis for the evening, and waited in line for a table when there was a multitude of tables open. After 1 hour of waiting for a table, we finally got seated. 30 minutes in we still did not have a waitress come to take our drink orders. We had to ASK someone to take our drink order. After waiting for drinks, FINALLY a waitress came and took our food order. After we waited for 2 hours, we had not received food and had not had any drink refills. The bartender at the Tap Room next door recommended this restaurant so we headed over for our first meal in Memphis, the one I had been anticiptaing for weeks. We very quickly realized that the bar and restaurant were operated by the same person since many of the employees had been delivering fruit next door. We believe that's why we were directed to eat here. The food was awful. We ordered the Feast for two to try a little of everything. The cajun catfish lacked taste, as well as the chicken. The fried green tomatos were okay, but not close to ones I've had in Charleston. The etouffe and gumbo were too spicy, which overpowered the other ingredients. Ordered their Gator appetizer and was sorely disappointed...it literally tasted of nothing but SALT..when the waiter stopped by asking "How everything was" he never took the time to hear my response. As a dinner I ordered the Mardi Gras pasta..this was the only reason I awarded it a 3rd star. The various parts of the meal comprised a delicious dish indeed...however the "sautéed seasonal veggies" that were supposed to be in the pasta were the old frozen zucchini, carrot, and green bean combo. Ate here on Saturday, the smoked wings were great a little spice and a good balance between smoke bbq. I had the bbq platter with pulled pork, ribs, coleslaw and potatoes. Everything was delicious but I could have done without the potatoes. My wife had the catfish poboy and was quite satisfied and surprised how well the fish was seasoned (she is very picky). I heard this place has the best bbq in Memphis. While I didn't get a chance to try it I did have some of their "big ass" beers and listened to some of the best blues bands in Memphis right in their outdoor hole in the wall gazebo area. In Memphis for a family vacation. It was about dinner time and even though I'm an avid Yelper, we couldn't agree on a restaurant. After walking on Beale St. and seeing various places and menus, the guy outside Kings Palace Café let us look at their menu and took us inside - we were sold! There was some great live music and a perfect little 4 top for us...far enough away so we could visit, but still see the performer. We ordered the BBQ Platter...with pulled Pork, and Smoked Ribs. The pulled pork was AMAZING! We loved the ribs too, but that pulled pork...I also thought they had fantastic rolls - almost like 'everything' bagels with tons of seeds and seasoning (we took the leftovers and made pulled pork sandwiches the next day)! The atmosphere is real nice. There is music playing and the inside looks slightly fancy or romantic compared to the rest. We got the crawfish tails appetizer and it was like popcorn shrimp breading, it tasted like out of a box. It was not very good and it was $9 for a small serving. I ordered the gator chips which were very thick pieces of gator and hard to chew. Not the small pieces that are easy to eat at most places. The remoulade that came with it tasted fresh though. My friend ordered Crawfish and shrimp etouffee which she said is spicier than any other etouffee she's had. It was hard to eat for her, she wished she'd gotten a cup rather than a bowl. read more

I ordered a bowl of their championship gumbo and I am so happy I did. It was some of the best gumbo I have eaten. Bit spicy and thank you waitress for bringing extra bread. I ate here for dinner when I was here for work. I think it was my favorite of all the places we tried. I had a great pasta dish that was really tasty. The servers were all friendly and the drinks were good. My only complaint was the live music--it was a little loud. Since I actually wanted to talk to my dinner companions I didn't care for it. Soooo good!!!! Got a lunch special that had 3 dishes in one: there was a crab cake, cup of gumbo, and a chicken dish with chicken breast,a white sauce and their delicious potatoes. My mother got a lunch special that had ribs, pulled pork, potatoes. Food was very flavorful although the crab cake had a lot of filler in it. They have a devoted gluten free menu! I was so happy but when my food came out it had bread on it. Sad! They remade my meal and apologized profusely.
